A new method is presented for preparing gram amounts of very small core/shell upconversion nanocrystals without additional codoping of the particles. First, ca. 5 nm β‐NaYF4:Yb,Er core particles are formed by the reaction of sodium oleate, rare‐earth oleate, and ammonium fluoride, thereby making use of the fact that a high ratio of sodium to rare‐earth ions promotes the nucleation of a large number of β‐phase seeds. Thereafter, a 2 nm thick NaYF4 shell is formed by using 3–4 nm particles of α‐NaYF4 as a single‐source precursor for the β‐phase shell material. In contrast to the core particles, however, these α‐phase particles are prepared with a low ratio of sodium to rare‐earth ions, which efficiently suppresses an undesired nucleation of β‐NaYF4 particles during shell growth.  相似文献

The emerging upconversion nanoparticles (UCNP) have gained substantial consideration in the field of bioanalytical as well as diagnostic applications. Therefore, great progress has been made in the synthesis and surface modification of luminescent UCNPs over the last two decades. In this paper, we have reported monodispersed and high luminescent upconversion nanoparticles NaYF4: 20%Yb3+, 2%Tm3+ have been synthesized using a solvothermal method, followed by a coating of the NaYF4 shell with a thin layer of SiO2 on the surface to afford the core-shell NaYF4:Yb3+, Tm3+@SiO2 nanoparticles (NP@SiO2). The prepared nanoparticles were of strong upconversion fluorescent emission intensity, hexagonal phase, and with an average size of about 8 ± 1 nm, which have been characterized by luminescence spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction (P-XRD), Dynamic light scattering (DLS), and Transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results indicate that the NP@SiO2 can be used for the conjugation of fluorescent probes for various biomolecules and can find applications in cancer cell imaging and disease diagnosis.  相似文献

Novel upconversion nanocomposites with nanoporous structure were presented in this paper. Silica-coated cubic NaYF4:Yb3+, Tm3+ nanoparticles were first prepared. After annealing, monodisperse cubic/hexagonal mixed phases NaYF4:Yb3+, Tm3+@SiO2 nanoparticles were obtained, and the NaYF4:Yb3+, Tm3+ cores became nanoporous. To the best of our knowledge, the nanoporous structure in NaYF4:Yb3+, Tm3+@SiO2 nanocomposites was observed for the first time. They demonstrate increased upconversion emission compared with unannealed dense NaYF4:Yb3+, Tm3+ nanoparticles due to the appearance of the hexagonal NaYF4:Yb3+, Tm3+. The silica shell not only makes the nanocomposites possess bio-affinity but also protects the NaYF4:Yb3+, Tm3+ cores from aggregating and growing up. Thus the upconversion, nanoporous and bio-affinity properties were combined into one single nanoparticle. The nanocomposites have been characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), small angle X-ray diffraction (SAXRD) and emission spectroscopy. These multifunctional nanocomposites are expected to find applications in biological fields, such as biolabels, drug storage and delivery.  相似文献

Three new anthracene derivatives [2‐chloro‐9,10‐dip‐tolylanthracene (DTACl), 9,10‐dip‐tolylanthracene‐2‐carbonitrile (DTACN), and 9,10‐di(naphthalen‐1‐yl)anthracene‐2‐carbonitrile (DNACN)] were synthesized as triplet acceptors for low‐power upconversion. Their linear absorption, single‐photon‐excited fluorescence, and upconversion fluorescence properties were studied. The acceptors exhibit high fluorescence yields in DMF. Selective excitation of the sensitizer PdIIoctaethylporphyrin (PdOEP) in solution containing DTACl, DTACN, or DNA‐CN at 532 nm with an ultralow excitation power density of 0.5 W cm?2 results in anti‐Stokes blue emission. The maximum upconversion quantum yield (ΦUC=17.4 %) was obtained for the couple PdOEP/DTACl. In addition, the efficiency of the triplet–triplet energy transfer process was quantitatively studied by quenching experiments. Experimental results revealed that a highly effective acceptor for upconversion should combine high fluorescence quantum yields with efficient quenching of the sensitizer triplet.  相似文献

Due to the unique size effects, nanomaterials in infrared absorption have attracted much attention for their strong absorption in the infrared region. To achieve the infrared multi‐band absorption, we propose to synthesize a core‐shell structure nanomaterial consisting of NaYF4:Yb3+, Er3+ core and a layer of SiO2 as shell. A series of NaYF4:Yb3+, Er3+ nanocrystals were synthesized through hydrothermal method by adjusting the ratio of citric acid(CA)‐to‐NaOH, and the effects of CA concentration, and NaOH concentration were studied in detail. NaYF4:Yb3+, Er3+@SiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized by sol‐gel method using TEOS as silica source. The results show that the core‐shell NaYF4:Yb3+, Er3+@SiO2 nanoparticles were successfully synthesized. Up‐conversion spectra of these nanoparticles were recorded with 980 nm laser excitation under room temperature. There are no changes of the emission centers of nanoparticles before or after silica coating, but the emission intensities of nanoparticles after silica coating are weakened. Furthermore, the property of infrared multi‐band absorption was tested through ultraviolet‐visible‐near infrared spectrophotometer and infrared absorption spectra. The results illustrate that the multi‐band infrared absorption nanomaterial was successfully synthesized.  相似文献

Upconverting nanoparticles (UCNPs) are promising candidates for photon-driven reactions, including light-triggered drug delivery, photodynamic therapy, and photocatalysis. Herein, we investigate the NIR-to-UV/visible emission of sub-15 nm alkaline-earth rare-earth fluoride UCNPs (M1−xLnxF2+x, MLnF) with a CaF2 shell. We synthesize 8 alkaline-earth host materials doped with Yb3+ and Tm3+, with alkaline-earth (M) spanning Ca, Sr, and Ba, MgSr, CaSr, CaBa, SrBa, and CaSrBa. We explore UCNP composition, size, and lanthanide doping-dependent emission, focusing on upconversion quantum yield (UCQY) and UV emission. UCQY values of 2.46 % at 250 W cm−2 are achieved with 14.5 nm SrLuF@CaF2 particles, with 7.3 % of total emission in the UV. In 10.9 nm SrYbF:1 %Tm3+@CaF2 particles, UV emission increased to 9.9 % with UCQY at 1.14 %. We demonstrate dye degradation under NIR illumination using SrYbF:1 %Tm3+@CaF2, highlighting the efficiency of these UCNPs and their ability to trigger photoprocesses.  相似文献

We report the synthesis and characterization of cubic NaGdF4:Yb/Tm@NaGdF4:Mn core–shell structures. By taking advantage of energy transfer through Yb→Tm→Gd→Mn in these core–shell nanoparticles, we have realized upconversion emission of Mn2+ at room temperature in lanthanide tetrafluoride based host lattices. The upconverted Mn2+emission, enabled by trapping the excitation energy through a Gd3+ lattice, was validated by the observation of a decreased lifetime from 941 to 532 μs in the emission of Gd3+ at 310 nm (6P7/28S7/2). This multiphoton upconversion process can be further enhanced under pulsed laser excitation at high power densities. Both experimental and theoretical studies provide evidence for Mn2+ doping in the lanthanide‐based host lattice arising from the formation of F? vacancies around Mn2+ ions to maintain charge neutrality in the shell layer.  相似文献

Due to their excellent characteristics such as carrier transport ability, high electrical conductivity, and mobility, core/shell nanostructure photovoltaic devices have received a lot of interest. In this study, HgI2@CsI core/shell nanoparticles were synthesized by using two-step pulsed laser ablation in liquid (PLAL) at laser fluences of 12.7 and 33.1 J/cm2. The structural and optical properties of the samples were examined using X-ray diffraction (XRD), zeta potential (ZP), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), transmission electron microscope (TEM), UV–Vis absorption, and photoluminescence spectra. The XRD data conforms to the formation of cubic CsI and tetrahedral and orthorhombic HgI2. The zeta potential results show that the sample prepared at 33.1 J/cm2 has the highest stability. TEM images show the formation of core-shell morphology and the thickness of the shell depends on the laser fluence. UV–Vis results show that the band gap of the core/shell was 3.22 and 3.23 eV for 12.7 and 33.1 J/cm2, respectively. The fluorescence spectra show two emission peaks for two laser fluences. The current-voltage characteristics of the HgI2@CsI/Si heterojunction were measured at dark and illumination, and the maximum On/Off ratio was about 167 for a photodetector prepared at 12.7 J/cm2. The figures of merit of the photodetectors, including responsivity, external quantum efficiency, and detectivity, are measured at room temperature. A responsivity as high as 0.7 W/A at 400 nm was obtained for a photodetector fabricated at 12.7 J/cm2.  相似文献

Microspherical bismuth oxychloride (BiOCl) can only utilize ultraviolet (UV) light to promote photocatalytic reactions. To overcome this limitation, a uniform and thin BiOCl nanosheet was synthesized with a particle size of about 200 nm. As results of UV–visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy showed, the band gap of this nanostructure was reduced to 2.78 eV, indicating that the BiOCl nanosheet could absorb and utilize visible light. Furthermore, the upconversion material NaYF4 doped with rare earth ions Yb3+ and Er3+ emitted visible light at 410 nm following excitation with near‐infrared (NIR) light (980 nm), which could be utilized by BiOCl to produce a photocatalytic reaction. To produce a high‐efficiency photocatalyst (NaYF4:Yb3+,Er3+@BiOCl), BiOCl‐loaded NaYF4:Yb3+,Er3+ was successfully synthesized via a simple two‐step hydrothermal method. The as‐synthesized material was confirmed using X‐ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy as well as other characterizations. The removal ratio of methylene blue by NaYF4:Yb3+,Er3+@BiOCl was much higher than that of BiOCl alone. Recycling experiments verified the stability of NaYF4:Yb3+,Er3+@BiOCl, which demonstrated excellent adsorption, strong visible‐light absorption and high electron–hole separation efficiency. Such properties are expected to be useful in practical applications, and a further understanding of the NIR‐light‐responsive photocatalytic mechanism of this new catalytic material would be conducive to improving its structural design and function.  相似文献

Hollow‐structured nanomaterials with fluorescent properties are extremely attractive for image‐guided cancer therapy. In this paper, sub‐100 nm and hydrophilic NaYF4 upconversion (UC) hollow nanospheres (HNSs) with multicolor UC luminescence and drug‐delivery properties were successfully prepared by a facile one‐pot template‐free hydrothermal route using polyetherimide (PEI) polymer as the stabilizing agent. XRD, SEM, TEM, and N2‐adsorption/desorption were used to characterize the as‐obtained products. The growth mechanism of the HNSs has been systematically investigated on the basis of the Ostwald ripening. Under 980 nm excitation, UC emissions of HNSs can be tuned by a simple change of the concentration or combination of various upconverters. As a result, the PEI‐coated HNSs could be used as efficient probes for in vitro upconversion luminescence (UCL) cell imaging. Furthermore, a doxorubicin storage/release behavior and cancer‐cell‐killing ability investigation reveal that the product has the potential to be a drug carrier for cancer therapy.  相似文献

A core‐shell structure with CuO core and carbon quantum dots (CQDs) and carbon hollow nanospheres (CHNS) shell was prepared through facile in‐situ hydrothermal process. The composite was used for non‐enzymatic hydrogen peroxide sensing and electrochemical overall water splitting. The core‐shell structure was established from the transmission electron microscopy image analysis. Raman and UV‐Vis spectroscopy analysis confirmed the interaction between CuO and CQDs. The electrochemical studies showed the limit of detection and sensitivity of the prepared composite as 2.4 nM and 56.72 μA μM?1 cm?2, respectively. The core‐shell structure facilitated better charge transportation which in turn exhibited elevated electro‐catalysis towards hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and overall water splitting. The overpotential of 159 mV was required to achieve 10 mA cm?2 current density for HER and an overpotential of 322 mV was required to achieve 10 mA cm?2 current density for OER in 1.0 M KOH. A two‐electrode system was constructed for overall water splitting reaction, which showed 10 and 50 mA cm?2 current density at 1.83 and 1.96 V, respectively. The prepared CuO@CQDs@CHNS catalyst demonstrated excellent robustness in HER and OER catalyzing condition along with overall water splitting reaction. Therefore, the CuO@CQDs@CHNS could be considered as promising electro‐catalyst for H2O2 sensing, HER, OER and overall water splitting.  相似文献

Based on NaYF4:Yb3+, Er3+ upconversion nanocrystals as donor and 4-((4-(2-aminoethylamino)naphthalen-1-yl)diazenyl) benzenesulfonic acid dihydrochloride (ANDBS) as acceptor, an efficient luminescence energy transfer (LET) system was developed for selective and sensitive determination of trace amounts of nitrite. Based on Griess Reaction, ANDBS was generated by the quantitative reaction of nitrite, sulfanilamide and N-(1-naphtyl)-ethylenediamine dihydrochloride (N1NED). The degree of the overlaps between the emission spectrum of NaYF4:Yb3+, Er3+ and the absorption spectrum of ANDBS were effective for luminescence energy transfer. Under the optimal condition, the upconversion luminescence quenching of NaYF4:Yb3+, Er3+ was in proportion to the trace amounts of nitrite. The detection limit for nitrite achieved is 0.0046 μg mL?1 and the system shows high sensitivity towards nitrite at 0.008000–0.2500 μg mL?1 range.  相似文献

Herein, we combine the ideas of concerted emission from fluorophore ensembles and its further amplification through FRET in an organic–inorganic hybrid approach. Spherical and highly fluorescent organic nanoparticles (FONPs, Φf=0.38), prepared by the self‐assembly of oligo(phenylene ethynylene) (OPE) molecules, were selected as a potential donor material. This organic core was then decorated with a shell of fluorescent CdSe/ZnS core–shell quantum dots (QDs; <d>?5.5 nm, Φf=0.27) with the aid of a bifunctional ligand, mercaptopropionic acid. Its high extinction coefficient (?≈4.1×105 m ?1 cm?1) and good spectral match with the emission of the FONPs (J(λ)≈4.08×1016 m ?1 cm?1 nm4) made them a better acceptor candidate to constitute an efficient FRET pair (ΦFRET=0.8). As a result, the QD fluorescence intensity was enhanced by more than twofold. The fundamental calculations carried out indicated an improvement in all the FRET parameters as the number of QDs around the FONPs was increased. This, together with the localization of multiple QDs in a nanometric dimension (volume≈1.8×106 nm3), gave highly bright reddish luminescent hybrid particles as visualized under a fluorescence microscope.  相似文献

We report an epitaxial growth technique for scalable production of hybrid sodium rare‐earth fluoride (NaLnF4) microcrystals, including NaYF4, NaYbF4, and NaLuF4 material systems. The single crystalline nature of the as‐synthesized products makes them strong upconversion emission. The freedom of combining a lanthanide activator (Er3+ or Tm3+) with a sensitizer (Yb3+) at various doping concentrations readily gives access to color multiplexing at the single‐particle level. Our kinetic and thermodynamic investigations on the epitaxial growth of core–shell microcrystals using NaLnF4 particle seeds suggest that within a certain size regime it is plausible to exert precise control over shell thickness and growth orientation under hydrothermal conditions.  相似文献

NaYF4:Er,Yb upconversion luminescent nanoparticles (UCNPs) were prepared by hydrothermal methods at 180 °C for 24 h. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) and TEM (transmission electron microscopy) images show that the resulting 60 nm UCNPs possess a hexagonal structure. In this work, maleic anhydride (MA) was grafted on the surface of UCNPs to induce hydrophilic properties. The photoluminescence spectra (PL) show upconversion emissions centered around 545 nm and 660 nm under excitation at 980 nm. The luminescent inks, including UCNPs@MA, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), deionized water (DI), and ethylene glycol (EG), exhibit suitable properties for screen printing, such as high stability, emission intensity, and tunable dynamic viscosity. The printed patterns with a height of 5 mm and a width of 1.5 mm were clearly observed under the irradiation of a 980 nm laser. Our strategy provides a new route for the controlled synthesis of hydrophilic UCNPs, and shows that the UCNPs@MAs have great potential in applications of anti-counterfeiting packing.  相似文献

Lanthanide upconversion luminescence in nanoparticles has prompted continuous breakthroughs in information storage, temperature sensing, and biomedical applications, among others. Achieving upconversion luminescence at the molecular scale is still a critical challenge in modern chemistry. In this work, we explored the upconversion luminescence of solution dispersions of co-crystals composed of discrete mononuclear Yb(DBM)3Bpy and Eu(DBM)3Bpy complexes (DBM: dibenzoylmethane, Bpy: 2,2′-bipyridine). The 613 nm emission of Eu3+ was observed under excitation of Yb3+ at 980 nm. From the series of molecular assemblies studied, the most intense luminescence was obtained for a 1 : 1 molar ratio of Yb3+ : Eu3+, resulting in a high quantum yield of 0.67 % at 2.1 W cm−2. The structure and energy transfer mechanism of the assemblies were fully characterized. This is the first example of an Eu3+-based upconverting system composed of two discrete mononuclear lanthanide complexes present as co-crystals in non-deuterated solution.  相似文献

Lanthanide‐doped upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) have shown great promise in bioapplications. Exploring new host materials to realize efficient upconversion luminescence (UCL) output is a goal of general concern. Herein, we develop a unique strategy for the synthesis of novel LiLuF4:Ln3+ core/shell UCNPs with typically high absolute upconversion quantum yields of 5.0 % and 7.6 % for Er3+ and Tm3+, respectively. Based on our customized UCL biodetection system, we demonstrate for the first time the application of LiLuF4:Ln3+ core/shell UCNPs as sensitive UCL bioprobes for the detection of an important disease marker β subunit of human chorionic gonadotropin (β‐hCG) with a detection limit of 3.8 ng mL−1, which is comparable to the β‐hCG level in the serum of normal humans. Furthermore, we use these UCNPs in proof‐of‐concept computed tomography imaging and UCL imaging of cancer cells, thus revealing the great potential of LiLuF4:Ln3+ UCNPs as efficient nano‐bioprobes in disease diagnosis.  相似文献

Assembling nanomaterials from two classes with exceptional control at the nanoscale can lead to new nanohybrids with novel properties. Here, we report the tunable up-conversion luminescence properties of CsPb(Br1-x/Ix)3 perovskite nanocrystals (PeNCs) sensitized by NaYF4:Yb,Tm@NaYF4 up-conversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) at 980 nm excitation. The up-conversion luminescence of NaYF4:Yb3+,Tm3+@NaYF4/CsPb(Br1-x/Ix)3 composite demonstrates that the radiative photon reabsorption process is accountable for the UC energy transfer from excited levels of Tm3+-based UCNPs to PeNCs. The long-lived Tm3+ states feed PeNCs carriers with intrinsic lifetimes extending from nanoseconds to microseconds. By varying the UCNPs/PeNCs concentration ratio, the NaYF4:Yb3+,Tm3+@NaYF4/CsPb(Br0.55I0.45)3 composite generates UC white light emission. The near-infrared excited white light-emitting devices are more compatible with human tissues than blue light-excited ones. Therefore, the prototype of UC white light-emitting diode is developed by coupling the UCNPs/PeNCs composite coated glass plate onto a commercial 940 nm-light-emitting diode chip. To overcome the counterfeiting risk that arises in the case of a single fluorescence mode, we developed a simple dual-model strategy based on manipulation of UC and down-conversion luminescence in anti-counterfeiting under 980 nm and 365 nm excitation, which makes it difficult to encrypt the information. In addition, the UCNPs/PeNCs composite exhibited better photostability under near-infrared illumination, retaining 85% of initial photoluminescence intensity, solving the problem of photo-instability.  相似文献
