In the search for complexes modeling the [Fe(CN)(2)(CO)(cysteinate)(2)] cores of the active centers of [NiFe] hydrogenases, the complex (NEt(4))(2)[Fe(CN)(2)(CO)('S(3)')] (4) was found ('S(3)'(2-)=bis(2-mercaptophenyl)sulfide(2-)). Starting complex for the synthesis of 4 was [Fe(CO)(2)('S(3)')](2) (1). Complex 1 formed from [Fe(CO)(3)(PhCH=CHCOMe)] and neutral 'S(3)'-H(2). Reactions of 1 with PCy(3) or DPPE (1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane) yielded diastereoselectively [Fe(CO)(2)(PCy(3))('S(3)')] (2) and [Fe(CO)(dppe)('S(3)')] (3). The diastereoselective formation of 2 and 3 is rationalized by the trans influence of the 'S(3)'(2-) thiolate and thioether S atoms which act as pi donors and pi acceptors, respectively. The trans influence of the 'S(3)'(2-) sulfur donors also rationalizes the diastereoselective formation of the C(1) symmetrical anion of 4, when 1 is treated with four equivalents of NEt(4)CN. The molecular structures of 1, 3 x 0.5 C(7)H(8), and (AsPh(4))(2)[Fe(CN)(2)(CO)('S(3)')] x acetone (4 a x C(3)H(6)O) were determined by X-ray structure analyses. Complex 4 is the first complex that models the unusual 2:1 cyano/carbonyl and dithiolate coordination of the [NiFe] hydrogenase iron site. Complex 4 can be reversibly oxidized electrochemically; chemical oxidation of 4 by [Fe(Cp)(2)PF(6)], however, led to loss of the CO ligand and yielded only products, which could not be characterized. When dissolved in solvents of increasing proton activity (from CH(3)CN to buffered H(2)O), complex 4 exhibits drastic nu(CO) blue shifts of up to 44 cm(-1), and relatively small nu(CN) red shifts of approximately 10 cm(-1). The nu(CO) frequency of 4 in H(2)O (1973 cm(-1)) is higher than that of any hydrogenase state (1952 cm(-1)). In addition, the nu(CO) frequency shift of 4 in various solvents is larger than that of [NiFe] hydrogenase in its most reduced or oxidized state. These results demonstrate that complexes modeling properly the nu(CO) frequencies of [NiFe] hydrogenase probably need a [Ni(thiolate)(2)] unit. The results also demonstrate that the nu(CO) frequency of [Fe(CN)(2)(CO)(thiolate)(2)] complexes is more significantly shifted by changing the solvent than the nu(CO) frequency of [NiFe] hydrogenases by coupled-proton and electron-transfer reactions. The "iron-wheel" complex [Fe(6)[Fe('S(3)')(2)](6)] (6) resulting as a minor by-product from the recrystallization of 2 in boiling toluene could be characterized by X-ray structure analysis.  相似文献

The new cyano complexes of formulas PPh(4)[Fe(III)(bipy)(CN)(4)] x H(2)O (1), [[Fe(III)(bipy)(CN)(4)](2)M(II)(H(2)O)(4)] x 4H(2)O with M = Mn (2) and Zn (3), and [[Fe(III)(bipy)(CN)(4)](2)Zn(II)] x 2H(2)O (4) [bipy = 2,2'-bipyridine and PPh(4) = tetraphenylphosphonium cation] have been synthesized and structurally characterized. The structure of complex 1 is made up of mononuclear [Fe(bipy)(CN)(4)](-) anions, tetraphenyphosphonium cations, and water molecules of crystallization. The iron(III) is hexacoordinated with two nitrogen atoms of a chelating bipy and four carbon atoms of four terminal cyanide groups, building a distorted octahedron around the metal atom. The structure of complexes 2 and 3 consists of neutral centrosymmetric [[Fe(III)(bipy)(CN)(4)](2)M(II)(H(2)O)(4)] heterotrinuclear units and crystallization water molecules. The [Fe(bipy)(CN)(4)](-) entity of 1 is present in 2 and 3 acting as a monodentate ligand toward M(H(2)O)(4) units [M = Mn(II) (2) and Zn(II) (3)] through one cyanide group, the other three cyanides remaining terminal. Four water molecules and two cyanide nitrogen atoms from two [Fe(bipy)(CN)(4)](-) units in trans positions build a distorted octahedron surrounding Mn(II) (2) and Zn(II) (3). The structure of the [Fe(phen)(CN)(4)](-) complex ligand in 2 and 3 is close to that of the one in 1. The intramolecular Fe-M distances are 5.126(1) and 5.018(1) A in 2 and 3, respectively. 4 exhibits a neutral one-dimensional polymeric structure containing two types of [Fe(bipy)(CN)(4)](-) units acting as bismonodentate (Fe(1)) and trismonodentate (Fe(2)) ligands versus the divalent zinc cations through two cis-cyanide (Fe(1)) and three fac-cyanide (Fe(2)) groups. The environment of the iron atoms in 4 is distorted octahedral as in 1-3, whereas the zinc atom is pentacoordinated with five cyanide nitrogen atoms, describing a very distorted square pyramid. The iron-zinc separations across the single bridging cyanides are 5.013(1) and 5.142(1) A at Fe(1) and 5.028(1), 5.076(1), and 5.176(1) A at Fe(2). The magnetic properties of 1-3 have been investigated in the temperature range 2.0-300 K. 1 is a low-spin iron(III) complex with an important orbital contribution. The magnetic properties of 3 correspond to the sum of two magnetically isolated spin triplets, the antiferromagnetic coupling between the low-spin iron(III) centers through the -CN-Zn-NC- bridging skeleton (iron-iron separation larger than 10 A) being very weak. More interestingly, 2 exhibits a significant intramolecular antiferromagnetic interaction between the central spin sextet and peripheral spin doublets, leading to a low-lying spin quartet.  相似文献

Two isostructural mixed-valence vanadium phosphonoacetates H2(DABCO)[V(IV)O(H2O)V(III)(OH)(O3PCH2CO2)2].2.5H2O (1) and H2(PIP)[V(IV)O(H2O)V(III)(OH)(O3PCH2CO2)2].2.5H2O (2) have been synthesized. They crystallize in the orthorhombic space group Pnna with a = 7.0479(10) A, b = 15.307(2) A, and c = 17.537(3) A for 1 and a = 7.0465(9) A, b = 15.646(2) A, and c = 17.396(2) A for 2. X-ray single-crystal diffraction reveals that 1 and 2 have a three-dimensional open framework featuring 16-ring ellipsoid channels that are filled with doubly protonated 1,4-diazabicyclo[2,2,2]octanium/piperazinium cations and water molecules. According to the classification in metal-organic frameworks, 1 and 2 contain infinite (-O-V-)(infinity) chains that are cross-linked by "metalloligand" [VO(H2O)(O3PCH2CO2)2](4-) into a 3-D net of the sra topology. The temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility of 1 shows that the chi(m)T value in the range of 60-320 K is constant of 1.105 cm3 K mol(-1)/V2 unit, and upon further cooling, the chi(m)T value rapidly increases to 1.81 cm3 K mol(-1) at 2 K. The corresponding effective magnetic moment (mu(eff))/V2 unit varies from 2.97 mu(B) at 320 K to 3.80 mu(B) at 2 K. The magnetic data in the range of 2-320 K follow the Curie-Weiss law with C = 1.074 cm3 K mol(-1) and Theta= -1.34 K.  相似文献

[Cp((CO)2Fe(PPh2H)]PF6 reacts with NaBH4 to give the intermediates CpFe(CO)2H and PPh2H, which are then converted into Cp(CO)(H)Fe(PPh2H). [Cp(CO)2FeL]PF6 (L = P(OMe)3, P(OEt)3 and P(OiPr)3) reacts with NaBH4 to give the product Cp(CO)(H)FeL directly without Cp(CO)2FeH and L even being formed transiently. The proposed reaction mechanism is that H attacks th phosphorus atom to give a metallaphosphorane complex, followed by coupling between a Cp(CO)2Fe fragment and H on the hypervalent phosphorus.  相似文献

The promising BioDeNO(x) process for NO removal from gaseous effluents suffers from an unsolved problem that results from the oxygen sensitivity of the Fe(II)-aminopolycarboxylate complexes used in the absorber unit to bind NO(g). The utilized [Fe(II)(EDTA)(H2O)](2-) complex is extremely oxygen sensitive and easily oxidized to give a totally inactive [Fe(III)(EDTA)(H2O)](-) species toward the binding of NO(g). We found that an in situ formed, less-oxygen-sensitive mixed-ligand complex, [Fe(II)(EDTA)(F)](3-), still reacts quantitatively with NO(g). The formation constant for the mixed ligand complex was determined spectrophotometrically. For [Fe(III)(EDTA)(F)](2-) we found log K(MLF)(F) = 1.7 +/- 0.1. The [Fe(II)(EDTA)(F)](3-) complex has a smaller value of log K(MLF)(F) = 1.3 +/- 0.2. The presence of fluoride does not affect the reversible binding of NO(g). Even over extended periods of time and fluoride concentrations of up to 1.0 M, the nitrosyl complex does not undergo any significant decomposition. The [Fe(III)(EDTA)(NO(-))](2-) complex releases bound NO on passing nitrogen through the solution to form [Fe(II)(EDTA)(H2O)](2-) almost completely. A reaction cycle is feasible in which fluoride inhibits the autoxidation of [Fe(II)(EDTA)(H2O)](2-) during the reversible binding of NO(g).  相似文献

The first open-framework lanthanide carboxyphosphonate has been obtained under hydrothermal conditions. The three-dimensional structure of MIL-84(Pr) (MIL = Material Institut Lavoisier) or Pr(4)(H(2)O)(7)[O(2)C-C(5)H(10)N-CH(2)(-)PO(3)](4)(H(2)O)(5) has been solved from X-ray diffraction single-crystal data (a = 23.481(1) A, b = 10.159(1) A, c = 23.006(1) A, beta = 105.63(1) degrees, V = 5284.6(6) A(3), space group Cc (No. 9)). Its framework is built up from chains of edged-sharing eight or nine-coordinated monocapped square antiprism polyhedra and carboxyphosphonate anions, creating a three-dimensional structure with small pores filled with water molecules. The thermal behavior of MIL-84(Pr) has been investigated using TGA and X-ray thermodiffractometry and indicates that MIL-84(Pr) is stable up to 523 K with a reversible hydration-dehydration process. The optical study of its yttrium analogue doped at 3.4% with europium (MIL-84(Y,Eu)) reveals a significant red-orange emission under UV radiation.  相似文献

The synthesis of an NbO-type metal-organic framework was achieved by design: o-Br-BDC (BDC = benzenedicarboxylate) was used to direct the formation of Cu2(CO2)4 paddle wheel units at 90 degrees to each other and thus yield the target network. The compound was formulated as Cu2[o-Br-BDC]2(H2O)2.(DMF)8(H2O)2 (MOF-101) and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction [cubic, space group Imm (No. 229) with a = 21.607(3) A, V = 10088(2) A3, Z = 6], which fully confirmed the presence of the expected structure. Despite having very large apertures and voids, MOF-101 has a noninterpenetrated structure, an intriguing observation that is discussed in the context of dual structures.  相似文献

The addition of the strongly pi-bonding ligands CO or tert-butyl isocyanide to the low-spin five-coordinate iron(II) nitrite species [Fe(TpivPP)(NO2)]- (TpivPP = picket fence porphyrin) gives two new six-coordinate species [Fe(TpivPP)(NO2)(CO)]- and [Fe(TpivPP)(NO2)(t-BuNC)]-. These species have been characterized by single-crystal structure determinations and by UV-vis, IR, and M?ssbauer spectroscopies. All evidence shows that in the mixed-ligand iron(II) porphyrin species, [Fe(TpivPP)(NO2)(CO)]-, the two trans, pi-accepting ligands CO and nitrite compete for pi density. The CO ligand however dominates the bonding. The Fe-N(NO2) bond lengths for the two independent anions in the unit cell at 2.006(4) and 2.009(4) A are lengthened compared to other nitrite species with either no trans ligands or non-pi-accepting trans ligands to nitrite. The Fe-C(CO) bond lengths are 1.782(4) A and 1.789(5) A for the two anions. The two Fe-C-O angles at 175.5(4) and 177.5(4) degrees are essentially linear in both anions. The quadrupole splitting for [Fe(TpivPP)(NO2)(CO)]- was determined to be 0.32 mm/s, and the isomer shift was 0.18 mm/s at room temperature in zero applied field. Both of the M?ssbauer parameters are much smaller than those found for six-coordinate low-spin iron(II) porphyrinates with neutral nitrogen-donating ligands as well as iron(II) nitro complexes. However, the M?ssbauer parameters are typical of other six-coordinate CO porphyrinates signifying that CO is the more dominant ligand. The CO stretching frequency of 1974 cm(-1) is shifted only slightly to higher energy compared to six-coordinate CO complexes with neutral nitrogen-donor ligands trans to CO. Crystal data for [K(222)][Fe(TpivPP)(NO2)(CO)].1/2C6H5Cl: monoclinic, space group P2(1)/c, Z = 8, a = 33.548(6) A, b = 18.8172(15) A, c = 27.187(2) A, beta = 95.240(7) degrees, V = 17091(4) A3.  相似文献

The reaction of Mn(O(2)CPh)(2).2H(2)O and PhCO(2)H in EtOH/MeCN with NBu(n)(4)MnO(4) gives (NBu(n)(4))[Mn(4)O(2)(O(2)CPh)(9)(H(2)O)] (4) in high yield (85-95%). Complex 4 crystallizes in monoclinic space group P2(1)/c with the following unit cell parameters at -129 degrees C: a = 17.394(3) ?, b = 19.040(3) ?, c = 25.660(5) ?, beta = 103.51(1) degrees, V = 8262.7 ?(3), Z = 4; the structure was refined on F to R (R(w)) = 9.11% (9.26%) using 4590 unique reflections with F > 2.33sigma(F). The anion of 4 consists of a [Mn(4)(&mgr;(3)-O)(2)](8+) core with a "butterfly" disposition of four Mn(III) atoms. In addition to seven bridging PhCO(2)(-) groups, there is a chelating PhCO(2)(-) group at one "wingtip" Mn atom and terminal PhCO(2)(-) and H(2)O groups at the other. Complex 4 is an excellent steppingstone to other [Mn(4)O(2)]-containing species. Treatment of 4 with 2,2-diethylmalonate (2 equiv) leads to isolation of (NBu(n)(4))(2)[Mn(8)O(4)(O(2)CPh)(12)(Et(2)mal)(2)(H(2)O)(2)] (5) in 45% yield after recrystallization. Complex 5 is mixed-valent (2Mn(II),6Mn(III)) and contains an [Mn(8)O(4)](14+) core that consists of two [Mn(4)O(2)](7+) (Mn(II),3Mn(III)) butterfly units linked together by one of the &mgr;(3)-O(2)(-) ions in each unit bridging to one of the body Mn atoms in the other unit, and thus converting to &mgr;(4)-O(2)(-) modes. The Mn(II) ions are in wingtip positions. The Et(2)mal(2)(-) groups each bridge two wingtip Mn atoms from different butterfly units, providing additional linkage between the halves of the molecule. Complex 5.4CH(2)Cl(2) crystallizes in monoclinic space group P2(1)/c with the following unit cell parameters at -165 degrees C: a = 16.247(5) ?, b = 27.190(8) ?, c = 17.715(5) ?, beta = 113.95(1) degrees, V = 7152.0 ?(3), Z = 4; the structure was refined on F to R (R(w)) = 8.36 (8.61%) using 4133 unique reflections with F > 3sigma(F). The reaction of 4 with 2 equiv of bpy or picolinic acid (picH) yields the known complex Mn(4)O(2)(O(2)CPh)(7)(bpy)(2) (2), containing Mn(II),3Mn(III), or (NBu(n)(4))[Mn(4)O(2)(O(2)CPh)(7)(pic)(2)] (6), containing 4Mn(III). Treatment of 4 with dibenzoylmethane (dbmH, 2 equiv) gives the mono-chelate product (NBu(n)(4))[Mn(4)O(2)(O(2)CPh)(8)(dbm)] (7); ligation of a second chelate group requires treatment of 7 with Na(dbm), which yields (NBu(n)(4))[Mn(4)O(2)(O(2)CPh)(7)(dbm)(2)] (8). Complexes 7 and 8 both contain a [Mn(4)O(2)](8+) (4Mn(III)) butterfly unit. Complex 7 contains chelating dbm(-) and chelating PhCO(2)(-) at the two wingtip positions, whereas 8 contains two chelating dbm(-) groups at these positions, as in 2 and 6. Complex 7.2CH(2)Cl(2) crystallizes in monoclinic space group P2(1) with the following unit cell parameters at -170 degrees C: a = 18.169(3) ?, b = 19.678(4) ?, c = 25.036(4) ?, beta = 101.49(1) degrees, V = 8771.7 ?(3), Z = 4; the structure was refined on F to R (R(w)) = 7.36% (7.59%) using 10 782 unique reflections with F > 3sigma(F). Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility studies have been carried out on powdered samples of complexes 2 and 5 in a 10.0 kG field in the 5.0-320.0 K range. The effective magnetic moment (&mgr;(eff)) for 2 gradually decreases from 8.61 &mgr;(B) per molecule at 320.0 K to 5.71 &mgr;(B) at 13.0 K and then increases slightly to 5.91 &mgr;(B) at 5.0 K. For 5, &mgr;(eff) gradually decreases from 10.54 &mgr;(B) per molecule at 320.0 K to 8.42 &mgr;(B) at 40.0 K, followed by a more rapid decrease to 6.02 &mgr;(B) at 5.0 K. On the basis of the crystal structure of 5 showing the single Mn(II) ion in each [Mn(4)O(2)](7+) subcore to be at a wingtip position, the Mn(II) ion in 2 was concluded to be at a wingtip position also. Employing the reasonable approximation that J(w)(b)(Mn(II)/Mn(III)) = J(w)(b)(Mn(III)/M(III)), where J(w)(b) is the magnetic exchange interaction between wingtip (w) and body (b) Mn ions of the indicated oxidation state, a theoretical chi(M) vs T expression was derived and used to fit the experimental molar magnetic susceptibility (chi(M)) vs T data. The obtained fitting parameters were J(w)(b) = -3.9 cm(-)(1), J(b)(b) = -9.2 cm(-)(1), and g = 1.80. These values suggest a S(T) = (5)/(2) ground state spin for 2, which was confirmed by magnetization vs field measurements in the 0.5-50.0 kG magnetic field range and 2.0-30.0 K temperature range. For complex 5, since the two bonds connecting the two [Mn(4)O(2)](7+) units are Jahn-Teller elongated and weak, it was assumed that complex 5 could be treated, to a first approximation, as consisting of weakly-interacting halves; the magnetic susceptibility data for 5 at temperatures >/=40 K were therefore fit to the same theoretical expression as used for 2, and the fitting parameters were J(w)(b) = -14.0 cm(-)(1) and J(b)(b) = -30.5 cm(-)(1), with g = 1.93 (held constant). These values suggest an S(T) = (5)/(2) ground state spin for each [Mn(4)O(2)](7+) unit of 5, as found for 2. The interactions between the subunits are difficult to incorporate into this model, and the true ground state spin value of the entire Mn(8) anion was therefore determined by magnetization vs field studies, which showed the ground state of 5 to be S(T) = 3. The results of the studies on 2 and 5 are considered with respect to spin frustration effects within the [Mn(4)O(2)](7+) units. Complexes 2 and 5 are EPR-active and -silent, respectively, consistent with their S(T) = (5)/(2) and S(T) = 3 ground states, respectively.  相似文献

A reinvestigation of the redox behavior of the [Fe(3)(&mgr;(3)-S)(CO)(9)](2)(-) dianion led to the isolation and characterization of the new [Fe(5)S(2)(CO)(14)](2)(-), as well as the known [Fe(6)S(6)(CO)(12)](2)(-) dianion. As a corollary, new syntheses of the [Fe(3)S(CO)(9)](2)(-) dianion are also reported. The [Fe(5)S(2)(CO)(14)](2)(-) dianion has been obtained by oxidative condensation of [Fe(3)S(CO)(9)](2)(-) induced by tropylium and Ag(I) salts or SCl(2), or more straightforwardly through the reaction of [Fe(4)(CO)(13)](2)(-) with SCl(2). The [Fe(6)S(6)(CO)(12)](2)(-) dianion has been isolated as a byproduct of the synthesis of [Fe(3)S(CO)(9)](2)(-) and [Fe(5)S(2)(CO)(14)](2)(-) or by reaction of [Fe(4)(CO)(13)](2)(-) with elemental sulfur. The structures of [N(PPh(3))(2)](2)[Fe(5)S(2)(CO)(14)] and [N(PPh(3))(2)](2)[Fe(6)S(6)(CO)(12)] were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. Crystal data: for [N(PPh(3))(2)](2)[Fe(5)S(2)(CO)(14)], monoclinic, space group P2(1)/c (No. 14), a = 24.060(5), b = 14.355(6), c = 23.898(13) ?, beta = 90.42(3) degrees, Z = 4; for [N(PPh(3))(2)](2)[Fe(6)S(6)(CO)(12)], monoclinic, space group C2/c (No. 15), a = 34.424(4), b = 14.081(2), c = 19.674(2) ?, beta = 115.72(1) degrees, Z = 4. The new [Fe(5)S(2)(CO)(14)](2)(-) dianion shows a "bow tie" arrangement of the five metal atoms. The two Fe(3) triangles sharing the central Fe atom are not coplanar and show a dihedral angle of 55.08(3) degrees. Each Fe(3) moiety is capped by a triply bridging sulfide ligand. The 14 carbonyl groups are all terminal; two are bonded to the unique central atom and three to each peripheral iron atom. Protonation of the [Fe(5)S(2)(CO)(14)](2)(-) dianion gives reversibly rise to the corresponding [HFe(5)S(2)(CO)(14)](-) monohydride derivative, which shows an (1)H-NMR signal at delta -21.7 ppm. Its further protonation results in decomposition to mixtures of Fe(2)S(2)(CO)(6) and Fe(3)S(2)(CO)(9), rather than formation of the expected H(2)Fe(5)S(2)(CO)(14) dihydride. Exhaustive reduction of [Fe(5)S(2)(CO)(14)](2)(-) with sodium diphenyl ketyl progressively leads to fragmentation into [Fe(3)S(CO)(9)](2)(-) and [Fe(CO)(4)](2)(-), whereas electrochemical, as well as chemical oxidation with silver or tropylium tetrafluoroborate, in dichloromethane, generates the corresponding [Fe(5)S(2)(CO)(14)](-) radical anion which exhibits an ESR signal at g = 2.067 at 200 K. The electrochemical studies also indicated the existence of a subsequent one-electron anodic oxidation which possesses features of chemical reversibility in dichloromethane but not in acetonitrile solution. A reexamination of the electrochemical behavior of the [Fe(3)S(CO)(9)](2)(-) dianion coupled with ESR monitoring enabled the spectroscopic characterization of the [Fe(3)S(CO)(9)](-) radical monoanion and demonstrated its direct involvement in the generation of the [Fe(5)S(2)(CO)(14)](n)()(-) (n = 0, 1, 2) system.  相似文献

[NiFe] hydrogenase, the enzyme of which catalyzes the reversible oxidation of molecular hydrogen to protons and electrons, contains a unique heterodinuclear thiolate-bridged Ni-Fe complex in which the iron center is coordinated by CO and CN. We have synthesized dithiolate-bridged Ni-Fe complexes bearing CO and CN ligands to model the active center of [NiFe] hydrogenase. The Ni-Fe complexes containing a [(CN)2(CO)2Fe(mu-S2)NiS2] framework are the closest yet structural models of [NiFe] hydrogenase.  相似文献
