Pendulation Reduction in Boom Cranes Using Cable Length Manipulation   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A technique is proposed to reduce payload pendulations using the reelingand unreeling of the hoisting cable. The payload is modeled as a pointmass, the cable is modeled as a rigid link, and the assembly, aspherical pendulum, is attached to the boom tip. An excitation isapplied to the assembly at the boom tip. The motion of the payload isdescribed using two-dimensional and three-dimensional models. Ourresults demonstrate that cable-length manipulation can be used to reducepayload pendulations due to near-resonance excitations. Significantreductions can be obtained via an appropriate choice of thereeling/unreeling speed. We also demonstrate the limitations inherent intwo-dimensional modelings of a crane.  相似文献

Digital filters, frequently used in active control of mechanical systems, enable one to improve the signal-to-noise ratio and the control performance, but introduce group delays into the control loops simultaneously. In order to gain an insight into the effects of a digital filter on a controlled mechanical system, this paper presents the stability switches and the corresponding Hopf bifurcations of a double pendulum system with the linear quadratic control having a digital filter via theoretical analysis, numerical simulations and experiments. In this study, the digital filters are used to remove the undesired noise of high frequency, which is embedded in the control signal, and are modeled as the components of pure time delay during the theoretical analysis and numerical simulations. The study shows that a digital filter with moderate specifications can not only improve the vibration reduction effectively, but also save the energy consumption of the servo-motor remarkably. However, over demanding specifications will make the group delay of the filter exceed a critical value and cause either a divergent motion or a self-excited vibration through a Hopf bifurcation, the occurrence of which depends on both the stability and the size of the basin of attraction of the bifurcating periodic motion. The experimental results well coincide with the theoretical and numerical ones, and strongly support the simplification of the digital filters as the components of pure time delay. Finally, some suggestions are made to avoid the group delay induced instability.  相似文献

Simulation of a rotary telescopic crane for which a detailed nonlinearbond graph model has been established in Part I of this study, isrealized utilizing experimental actual system for geometrical anddynamical parameters. With the intention of comparing the real system andthe model and of verifying the sufficiency of the model accuracy,various scenarios are defined corresponding to different loading andoperating conditions. Of the scenarios defined, impulse response, timeresponse and static response are used to experimentally gather such system parameters and variables as damping coefficient, cylinderdisplacements, and stiffness of the telescopic boom, respectively.Following, the simulation for two dissimilar scenarios which are staticresponse and impulse response is undergone and results are presented.  相似文献

Cranes employed for load transfer are large volume machines and canbe designed to accomplish linear, planar or spatial motions dependingon the intended use. Understanding the dynamic behavior of thesesystems, which have a load-carrying capacity of hundreds of tonnes, ishighly noteworthy for system design, control, and work safety. Inthis study, a theoretical model of a spatially actuated telescopic rotarycrane is obtained with provided assumptions using Bond Graph techniques.Following the modeling of an actuation system and of a main structure,unification of these two is accomplished. Since the overall system consistsof high nonlinearity originating from geometric nonlinearity, gyroscopicforces, hydraulic compressibility, and elastic boom structure, the resultingderivative causality problem caused by rigidly coupled inertia elementsis addressed for this highly nonlinear system and consequential systemstate-space equations are presented.  相似文献

The optimization of the parameters of a controller of given structure for a controlled unstable scalar system with delay is studied. First, the original system with delay is approximated by a system without delay. To this end, the exponent is approximated by a fractional rational function. Since the structure of the controller is fixed, the quality of the approximation is assessed by comparing the stability domains of the original and approximating systems (in the space of controller coefficients). Next, the coefficients of the controller for the reduced system are optimized. The performance of the controller thus synthesized can be assessed by mathematically modeling the original system (with delay) whose feedback is determined by the controller coefficients found. The approach is exemplified by stabilizing an inverted mathematical pendulum with a PD controller. In the dynamics analysis and synthesis of a con-trolled system, it is important to know for what feedback gains can the controlled system decay to the demanded steady state as fast as possible. This article presents a sys-tematic method for finding the optimal feedback gains by taking the stability of an inverted pendulum system with a delayed proportional-derivative controller as an example. First, the condition for the existence and uniqueness of the stable region in the gain plane is obtained by using the D-subdivision method and the method of stability switch. Then the same procedure is used repeatedly to shrink the stable region by decreasing the real part of the rightmost charac-teristic root. Finally, the optimal feedback gains within the stable region that minimizes the real part of the rightmost root are expressed by an explicit formula. With the optimal feedback gains, the controlled inverted pendulum decays to its trivial equilibrium at the fastest speed when the initial val-ues around the origin are fixed. The main results are checked by numerical simulation.  相似文献

The nonlinear dynamic responses of moored crane vessels to regular wavesare investigated experimentally and theoretically. The main subject ofinterest are nonlinear phenomena like bifurcations and the existence ofmultiple attractors. In the experimental part of the work, a mooredmodel of a crane vessel has been excited by regular waves in a wavetank. A special mechanism has been developed to model the nonlinearbehavior of real mooring systems. The theoretical part of the workconcerns the mathematical modeling of the floating cranes. Twomathematical models of different levels of complexity are presented. Twodifferent tools are used to systematically determine the responses ofthe systems to periodic forcing of waves. Firstly, the path-followingtechniques in combination with numerical integration of equations ofmotion applied to a full nonlinear model give insight into the dynamicsin time domain. Secondly, the multiple scales method allows for ananalytical investigation of simplified nonlinear models in frequencydomain. Many results of computations for two crane vessels, barge andship, are presented. Special attention is paid to oscillations near thefrequencies of primary resonances and to subharmonic motions. Anexcellent agreement is found between the results of time-domain andfrequency-domain analysis. The computational examples chosen correspondto the models used not only in the present experiments but in theexperiments of others as well. The results presented in the work allow usto draw several important conclusions concerning the dynamic behavior offloating cranes during offshore operations. Both the developed modelsand the analytical tools can be used to identify the limits of theoperating range of floating cranes.  相似文献

We investigate the interaction of pressure waves with the shear turbulence in a supersonic jet flow obtained from the direct numerical integration of the time-dependent, three-dimensional Euler equations. The resulting self-sustaining turbulent jet flow matches closely the relevant time and length scales of atmospheric turbulence. N-waves, characteristic of sonic booms, are simulated by perturbing the pressure profile and following these perturbations in space and time. The results reproduce most of the wave forms reported in laboratory experiments and in flight test data.  相似文献

采用最优跟踪控制方法对柔性机械臂线性化主动控制中的时滞问题进行研究。首先采用一种积分变换,将包含时滞项的动力学方程转换成形式上不包含时滞项的标准形式,然后根据最优跟踪控制理论设计控制律。在每一步控制律的计算中,不但包含有当前步的状态反馈,而且包含有前若干步控制的线性组合。文中还给出了一个模态坐标的提取方法。仿真结果显示,若对时滞不处理,控制系统会在很小时滞量时出现发散;当控制系统中的时滞量不大时,本文的线性化时滞控制设计能够取得较好的控制效果;当系统存在较大时滞量时,线性化时滞控制设计的有效范围是有限的。  相似文献

This paper presents a new approach, based on the center manifoldtheorem, to reducing the dimension of nonlinear time-delay systemscomposed of both stiff and soft substructures. To complete the reductionprocess, the dynamic equation of a delayed system is first formulated asa set of singular perturbed equations that exhibit dynamic behaviorevolving in two different time scales. In terms of the fast time scale,the dynamic equation of system can be converted into the standard formof a functional differential equation in critical cases, namely, to aform that can be treated by means of the center manifold theorem. Then,the approximated center manifold is determined by solving a series ofboundary-value problems. The center manifold theorem ensures that thedominant dynamics of the system is described by a set of ordinarydifferential equations of low order, the dimension of which is identicalto that of the phase space of slowly variable states. As an applicationof the proposed approach, a detailed stability analysis is made for aquarter car model equipped with an active suspension with a time delaycaused by a hydraulic actuator. The analysis shows that the dimensionalreduction is surprisingly effective within a wide range of the systemparameters.  相似文献

This paper studies the stabilization to an inverted pendulum under a delayed proportional-derivative-acceleration (PDA) feedback, which can be used to understand human balance in quiet standing. The closed-loop system is described by a neutral delay differential equation (NDDE). The optimal feedback gains (OFGs) that make the exponential decaying rate maximized are determined when the characteristic equation of the closed-loop has a repeated real root with multiplicity 4. Such a property is called multiplicity-induced dominancy of time-delay systems, and has been discussed intensively by many authors for retarded delay differential equations (RDDEs). This paper shows that multiplicity-induced dominancy can be achieved in NDDEs. In addition, the OFGs are delay-dependent, and decrease sharply to small numbers correspondingly as the delay increases from zero and varies slowly with respect to moderate delays. Thus, the inverted pendulum can be well-stabilized with moderate delays and relatively small feedback gains. The result might be understandable that the elderly with obvious response delays can be well-stabilized with a delayed PDA feedback controller.  相似文献

Effect of Nonlinear Stiffness on the Motion of a Flexible Pendulum   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
In this paper, we study the effect of a harmonicforcing function and the strength of a nonlinearityon a two-degrees-of-freedom system namely, an elasticpendulum, with internal resonance (for examplenonlinearly elastic springs). The equations can alsobe used to model the coupling between a ship's pitchand roll. The system considered here is modeled by amass hanging from a spring that is pinned at one endto the ground. The mass is free to move in the radialdirection, is also free to rotate about the pin joint, and subject to a periodic forcing function. Theforcing function used in this paper is in thetangential direction. The amplitude of the forcingfunction is used here as the control parameter and thesystem's dynamics are studied through the variation ofthis parameter.The first part of the paper is dedicatedto establishing the route by which the motion of thesystem goes from a periodic attractor to a chaoticattractor. It was found that the route to chaos alwaysbegins with a secondary Hopf bifurcation followed byconsecutive torus-doubling bifurcations, ending withtorus breaking.A comparison was also made between the use of a linear spring, a weakly nonlinear spring, and astrongly nonlinear spring.This comparison showed that althoughthe route to chaos was not altered, the bifurcationsleading to chaos and the chaotic motion itselfoccurred at different frequency regimes. We observedthat the nonlinearity could aid the stabilizationof the periodicattractor beyond the previously seenthreshold of instability. Yet, if the strength of thenonlinearity is sufficiently large, it can lead tochaos in frequency regimes where chaos was notobserved previously. The strongly nonlinear systemshowed chaotic behavior for frequency regimes thatdisplayed only periodic motion for both the linearsystem and the weakly nonlinear system. The route tochaos for these frequency ranges was also found to bedifferent from that previously studied. This leads usto the hypothesis that chaos in this range was due tothe nonlinearity of the spring and not the coupling effect.  相似文献

The problem of stability of equilibria of a physical pendulum with a nonstretchable thread attached to it is considered from the standpoint of the Lagrange theorem on stability and its inversion. Specific difficulties which one faces when studying an infinite dimensional mechanical system are discussed. A new approach to the study of stability with respect to two metrics is suggested. The influence of resonant phenomena on the motion of the shortened (linearized) system is considered.

From the viewpoints of environmental protection, support for the aged and ensuring the right to mobility, there is a need to develop a new type of mobility vehicle that provides more effective transportation. The authors propose an inverted pendulum vehicle with pedals as one of the forms of personal mobility vehicles (PMVs). In this paper, the steering performance of the inverted pendulum vehicle with pedals is discussed based on experiments on a prototype. From the experimental results, it was confirmed that the errors from the five subjects for the target trajectory and the five-grade evaluation of the maneuverability were similar. Finally, we created an inverted pendulum vehicle with pedals to which was added a reaction actuator for the steering system. From the experimental results, it was found that setting appropriate feedback gains for the handle steering angle and its rate of rotation, which control the right and left wheel driving torques, resulted in greatly improved maneuverability.  相似文献

When a tower crane is handling payload via rotation and moving the carriage simultaneously the jib structure and the payload can be modeled as a system consisting of a slewing flexible clamed-free beam with the spherical payload pendulum that moves along the beam. The present work completes the dynamic modeling of the system mentioned above. The clamed-free beam attached to a rotating hub is modeled by Euler–Bernoulli beam theory. The payload is modeled as a sphere pendulum of point mass attached to via massless inextensible cable the carriage moving on the rotating beam. Non-linear coupled equations of motion of the in- and out-of-plane of the beam and the payload pendulum are derived by means of the Hamilton principle. Multiple-scale asymptotic analysis is applied to small-wavelength, weakly nonlinear propagation of an impulsive acoustic wave in a general (3D, in-motion and time dependent) atmosphere. In keeping with previous work on sonic booms and nonlinear acoustics in general, the result is a combination of ray tracing and a generalised Burgers equation describing evolution of the waveform carried by a ray. This is nonetheless, to our knowledge, the first derivation of such a model based on asymptotic analysis of the governing equations for a general atmosphere.
