We consider the Sturm–Liouville problem (1.1) and (1.2) with a potential depending rationally on the eigenvalue parameter. With these equations a λ ‐linear eigenvalue problem is associated in such a way that L2‐solutions of (1.1), (1.2) correspond to eigenvectors of a linear operator. If the functions q and u are real and satisfy some additional conditions, the corresponding linear operator is a definitizable self‐adjoint operator in some Krein space. Moreover we consider the problem (1.1) and (1.3) on the positive half‐axis. Here we use results on the absense of positive eigenvalues for Sturm–Liouville operators to exclude critical points of the associated definitizable operator. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. This work studies the scattering problem on the real axis for the Sturm–Liouville equation with discontinuous leading coefficient and the real‐valued steplike potential q(x) that has different constant asymptotes as x → ± ∞ . We investigate the properties of the scattering data, obtain the main integral equations of the inverse scattering problem, and also give necessary and sufficient conditions characterizing the scattering data. The spectral problem for the Sturm–Liouville operator with an arbitrary complex-valued potential q(x) of the class L1(0, π) and degenerate boundary conditions is considered. We prove that the system of root functions of this operator is not a basis in the space L2(0, π).  相似文献

In the present work, we consider the inverse problem for the impulsive Sturm–Liouville equations with eigenparameter-dependent boundary conditions on the whole interval (0,π) from interior spectral data. We prove two uniqueness theorems on the potential q(x) and boundary conditions for the interior inverse problem, and using the Weyl function technique, we show that if coefficients of the first boundary condition, that is, h1,h2, are known, then the potential function q(x) and coefficients of the second boundary condition, that is, H1,H2, are uniquely determined by information about the eigenfunctions at the midpoint of the interval and one spectrum or partial information on the eigenfunctions at some internal points and some of two spectra.  相似文献

In this article, we consider a spectral problem generated by the Sturm–Liouville equation on the edges of an equilateral regular tree. It is assumed that the Dirichlet boundary conditions are imposed at the pendant vertices and continuity and Kirchhoff's conditions at the interior vertices. The potential in the Sturm–Liouville equations, the same on each edge, is real, symmetric with respect to the middle of an edge and belongs to L 2(0,?a) where a is the length of an edge. Conditions are obtained on a sequence of real numbers necessary and sufficient to be the spectrum of the considered spectral problem.  相似文献

The uniqueness problem of inverse Sturm–Liouville problems with the potential known on an interior subinterval is considered. We prove that the potential on the entire interval and boundary conditions are uniquely determined in terms of the known eigenvalues and some information on the eigenfunctions at some interior point (interior spectral data). Moreover, we also concern with the situation where the potential q is C2k-smoothness at some given points.  相似文献

In this paper, we discuss the inverse problems for Sturm–Liouville operators with boundary conditions polynomially dependent on the spectral parameter. We establish some uniqueness theorems on the potential q(x) for the half inverse problem and the interior inverse problem from spectral data, respectively.  相似文献

A spectral problem for the Sturm–Liouville equation on the edges of an equilateral regular star‐tree with the Dirichlet boundary conditions at the pendant vertices and Kirchhoff and continuity conditions at the interior vertices is considered. The potential in the Sturm–Liouville equation is a real–valued square summable function, symmetrically distributed with respect to the middle point of any edge. If {λj}is a sequence of real numbers, necessary and sufficient conditions for {λj}to be the spectrum of the problem under consideration are established. The inverse Sturm‐Liouville problem on a half‐line is considered. With the aid of a Fourier‐Legendre series representation of the transmutation integral kernel and the Gel'fand‐Levitan equation, the numerical solution of the problem is reduced to a system of linear algebraic equations. The potential q is recovered from the first coefficient of the Fourier‐Legendre series. The resulting numerical method is direct and simple. The results of the numerical experiments are presented.  相似文献

Space-time means and solutions to a class of nonlinear parabolic equations   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Cauchy problem and initial boundary value problem for nonlinear parabolic equation inCB([0,T):L p ) orL q (0,T; L p ) type space are considered. Similar to wave equation and dispersive wave equation, the space-time means for linear parabolic equation are shown and a series of nonlinear estimates for some nonlinear functions are obtained by space-time means. By Banach fixed point principle and usual iterative technique a local mild solution of Cauchy problem or IBV problem is constructed for a class of nonlinear parabolic equations inCB([0,T);L p orL q (0,T; L p ) with ϕ(x)∈L r . In critical nonlinear case it is also proved thatT can be taken as infinity provided that ||ϕ(x)||r is sufficiently small, where (p,q,r) is an admissible triple. We investigate the asymptotic behavior of the eigenvalues and the eigenfunctions of q‐Sturm‐Liouville eigenvalue problems. For this aim we study the asymptotic behavior of q‐trigonometric functions as well as fundamental sets of solutions of the associated second order q‐difference equation. As in classical Sturm‐Liouville theory, the eigenvalues behave like zeros of q‐trigonometric functions and the eigenfunctions behave like q‐trigonometric functions. © 2011 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. In this paper, we study the existence of positive solutions for the following Sturm–Liouville‐like four‐point singular boundary value problem (BVP) with p‐Laplacian where ?p(s)=|s|p?2 s, p>1, f is a lower semi‐continuous function. Using the fixed‐point theorem of cone expansion and compression of norm type, the existence of positive solution and infinitely many positive solutions for Sturm–Liouville‐like singular BVP with p‐Laplacian are obtained. We present several classes of explicit self-adjoint Sturm–Liouville difference operators with either a non-Hermitian leading coefficient function, or a non-Hermitian potential function, or a non-definite weight function, or a non-self-adjoint boundary condition. These examples are obtained using a general procedure for constructing difference operators realizing discrete Sturm–Liouville problems, and the minimum conditions for such difference operators to be self-adjoint with respect to a natural quadratic form. It is shown that a discrete Sturm–Liouville problem admits a difference operator realization if and only if it does not have all complex numbers as eigenvalues. Spectral properties of self-adjoint Sturm–Liouville difference operators are studied. In particular, several eigenvalue comparison results are proved.  相似文献

The partial inverse spectral problem for Sturm–Liouville operators on a star-shaped graph was studied. The authors showed that if the potentials but one were known a priori, then the unknown potential on the whole interval can be uniquely determined by part of information of the potential and part of eigenvalues. The methods employed rest on the Weyl's m-function and theory concerning densities of zeros of entire functions.  相似文献

In this paper, we study a Sturm–Liouville operator with eigenparameter‐dependent boundary conditions and transmission conditions at two interior points. By establishing a new operator A associated with the problem, we prove that the operator A is self‐adjoint in an appropriate space H, discuss completeness of its eigenfunctions in H, and obtain its Green function. By applying the fixed point theorem in cones, a new and general result on the existence of positive solutions to second-order generalized Sturm–Liouville boundary value problem on a time scale 𝕋 is obtained. The first order Δ-derivative is involved in the nonlinear term f explicitly.  相似文献

In this paper, we discuss the inverse spectral problem for Sturm–Liouville operators for the missing eigenvalue problem. We show that a Borg-type theorem for the missing eigenvalue problem of the Sturm–Liouville operator holds by the Weyl m-function.  相似文献

In this study, we investigate a Sturm–Liouville type problem with eigenparameter‐dependent boundary conditions and eigenparameter‐dependent transmission conditions. By establishing a new self‐adjoint operator A associated with the problem, we construct fundamental solutions and obtain asymptotic formulae for its eigenvalues and fundamental solutions. Also we investigate some properties of its spectrum. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
