真空电弧的特性直接受到从阴极斑点喷射出的等离子体射流的影响,对等离子体射流进行数值仿真有助于我们深入了解真空电弧的内部物理机制.然而,磁流体动力学和粒子云网格仿真方法受限于计算精度和计算效率的原因,无法有效地应用于真空电弧等离子体射流仿真模拟.本文开发了一套三维等离子体混合模拟算法,并在此基础上建立了真空电弧单阴极斑点射流仿真模型,模型中将离子作宏粒子考虑,而电子作无质量流体处理,仿真计算了自生电磁场与外施纵向磁场作用下等离子体的分布运动状态.仿真结果表明,单个阴极斑点情况下真空等离子体射流在离开阴极斑点后扩散至极板间,其整体几何形状为圆锥形,离子密度从阴极到阳极快速下降.外施纵向磁场会压缩等离子体,使得等离子体射流径向的扩散减少并且轴线上的离子密度升高.随着外施纵向磁场的增大,其对等离子体射流的压缩效应增强,表现为等离子体射流的扩散角度逐渐减小.此外,外施纵向磁场对等离子体射流的影响也受到电弧电流大小的影响,压缩效应随电弧电流的增加而逐渐减弱.  相似文献

We have investigated the behavior of drawn vacuum arcs for several designs of axial magnetic field (AMF) contacts using high-speed digital photography and arc voltage measurements, As the peak current was increased, a gradual transition occurred in the arc appearance from a multiple cathode-spot arc to the high-current diffuse mode, and then to a high-current diffuse columnar mode. Two relatively simple models based on the literature are used to explain the results. The first is an empirical criterion for using the arc voltage behavior to determine the maximum arc current for which an AMF geometry can produce a high-current diffuse mode from the initial bridge column arc. The second model predicts the highest arc current that can be forced into a fully diffuse mode for given values of the AMF and the contact arcing radius. It is well known that axial magnetic fields (AMFs) can keep vacuum arc in diffuse mode at high current. According to our recent research and other published papers, it has been found that vacuum arc can be maintained in high-current diffuse mode at much higher current if nonuniform AMF is applied, that the axial magnetic field is higher at contact periphery than at center. The influence of spatial distribution of AMF on vacuum arc is mainly studied in this paper. Furthermore, two types of AMF contacts with new structures to generate nonuniform AMF are presented.  相似文献

In this paper a commercial CFD (computational fluid dynamics) code FLUENT has been used and modified for the axisymmetric swirl and time-dependent simulation of an atmospheric pressure argon arc in an external axial magnetic field (AMF). The computational domain includes the arc itself and the anodic region. Numerical results demonstrate that the AMF substantially increases the tangential component of the plasma velocity. The resulting centrifugal force for the plasma rotation impels it to travel to the arc mantel and as a result, a low-pressure region appears at the arc core. With the AMF, the arc presents a hollow bell shape and correspondingly, the maximal values of the temperature, pressure and current density on the anode surface are departing from the arc centreline.  相似文献

Although plasma torches have been commercially available for about 50 years, areas such as plasma gun design, process efficiency, reproducibility, plasma stability, torch lives etc. have remained mostly unattended. Recent torch developments have been focusing on the basic understanding of the plasma column and its dynamics inside the plasma torch, the interaction of plasma jet and the powders, the interaction of the plasma jet with surroundings and the impingement of the jet on the substrate. Two of the major causes of erratic and poor performance of a variety of thermal plasma processes are currently identified as the fluctuations arising out of the arc root movement on the electrodes inside the plasma torch and the fluid dynamic instabilities arising out of entrainment of the air into the plasma jet. This paper reviews the current state of understanding of these fluctuations as well as the dynamics of arc root movement in plasma torches. The work done at the author’s laboratory on studying the fluctuations in arc voltage, arc current, acoustic emissions and optical emissions are also presented. These fluctuations are observed to be chaotic and interrelated. Real time monitoring and controlling the arc instabilities through chaos characterization parameters can greatly contribute to the understanding of electrode erosion as well as improvement of plasma torch lifetime.  相似文献

The scaling-down of plasma spray torches is connected with problems of anodic arc attachment fluctuations. It Is known that thermally constricted arcs in molecular gases generate unstable anodic arc roots in the nozzle of the torch. Moreover, using a usual plasma spray torch at reduced electrical power level in an argon-hydrogen gas mixture at a pressure of about 120 mbar, the arc is strongly influenced by hydrodynamic forces. Especially, its long time behavior shown by the arc voltage course is very variable and nonreproducible. It is the purpose of this work to optimize the nozzle geometry and the gas flow rate in order to obtain stabilized operating conditions of the plasma torch for an arc current of 100 A. It will be shown that the design of the entrance region and the diameter of the anodic nozzle influence the are column motion as well as the level and the frequency of the voltage fluctuations. With a particularly modified anodic nozzle, stable and reproducible operating conditions of the plasma torch, which is used to synthesize diamond layers, will be obtained  相似文献

介绍了一种新型大气压直流双阳极等离子喷枪,并对其电特性参数和发射光谱进行了测量.通过对氩等离子体射流的电信号进行时域和频域分析,研究了载气流量和弧电流的变化对射流脉动的影响,结果表明氩等离子体电弧的伏安特性呈上升趋势,射流脉动属于接管模式,电源特性中的交流分量引起的电压波动是影响氩等离子体射流脉动的主要因素. 通过光谱法测量了氩等离子体射流在弧室内和弧室出口的发射光谱,利用玻尔兹曼曲线斜率法计算了射流的激发温度,根据Ar I谱线的斯塔克展宽得到了射流的电子密度,并对等离子体射流满足局域热力学平衡(LTE) 关键词: 等离子喷枪 射流脉动 激发温度 局域热力学平衡  相似文献

为了提高等离子体废物处理效率,根据磁流体动力学理论,利用计算流体力学软件FLUENT,采用磁矢量势的方法对直流双阳极非转移型电弧等离子体炬进行了二维轴对称数值模拟。计算中采用了SIMPLE算法。数值模拟得到了等离子体的温度、速度等分布。结果表明,等离子体的温度随着轴向距离的增加而减小,随弧电流增加而增加;其速度随着轴向距离的增加而先增大后减小,随弧电流增加而增加;等离子体炬出口处的温度和速度随着径向距离的增加而减小。这些结果与实验结果基本相符。  相似文献

Fluctuation phenomena commonly exist in arc plasmas, limiting the application of this technology.In this paper,we report an investigation of fluctuations of arc plasmas in an arc plasma torch with multiple cathodes.Time-resolved images of the plasma column and anode arc roots are captured.Variations of the arc voltage, plasma column diameter, and pressure are also revealed.The results indicate that two well-separated fluctuations exist in the arc plasma torch.One is the high-frequency fluctuation(of several thousand Hz), which arises from transferring of the anode arc root.The other is the low-frequency fluctuation(of several hundred Hz), which may come from the pressure variation in the arc plasma torch.Initial analysis reveals that as the gas flow rate changes, the low-frequency fluctuation shows a similar variation trend with the Helmholtz oscillation.This oscillation leads to the shrinking and expanding of the plasma column.As a result, the arc voltage shows a sinusoidal fluctuation.  相似文献

This study is an attempt to estimate the overall properties, viz. the thermal power and force, of an intense plasma jet produced by a plasma cutting torch, and to relate the properties of the plasma to the diameter of the nozzle of the plasma torch and the flow rate of plasma-forming gas. For cutting metallic plates using a thermal plasma, a narrow plasma jet is produced by means of a transferred electric are between an electrode in a plasma torch and the material to be cut. The power density and pressure exerted by the plasma jet on the material at the region of cut needs to be high so that a straight cut, without dress at the bottom of the plate, can be obtained. A simple theory to describe the behavior of the arc in a plasma cutting torch has been developed to predict the are radius, pressure, and arc voltage at the nozzle exit as a function of are current for a range of nozzle sizes and air flow rates. The results obtained are in good agreement with the measured values for an air plasma cutting torch nominally rated for 100-A operation. The relationships between the mass flow rate of plasma gas, plasma power, and arc force have been discussed in the light of design of plasma torches for plasma cutting  相似文献

We have investigated the surface heating effects of drawn vacuum arcs for several industrial designs of axial magnetic field (AMF) contacts, using near infrared (IR) photography of the Cu-Cr arcing surfaces with an image-intensified charge-coupled device (CCD) camera and an IR pyrometer. This enables detailed contact temperature mapping immediately after a half-cycle of arc current. The very homogeneous temperature distribution observed at current zero stands in contrast to the visually nonhomogeneous high-current diffuse arc, which was studied in separately reported experiments using high-speed digital photography and arc voltage measurements. The peak temperature at current zero increased relatively linearly with the peak current IP, and reached well beyond the melting range. We combine the temperature maps with a heating model to determine the thermal sheath thickness after arcing and its dependence on IP. The results suggest that near the interruption limit of AMF contacts, the interaction of the stable high-current arc with the anode and cathode is dominated by processes induced by flowing liquid metal, which redistributes the heat input from the axially concentrated arc over most of the contact surface. Furthermore, the flow of liquid metal off the cathode and anode faces contributes to the overall contact erosion  相似文献

为研究非转移弧层流等离子体制备面向新材料领域的μm级球形氧化铝粉末的能力,使用自制的非转移弧分段式阳极层流等离子体球化设备,以载气送粉的方式,对η相的不规则μm级三氧化二铝粉末进行等离子体球化处理,并采用均匀设计法,研究等离子体发生器和送粉器不同的工作参数对氧化铝粉末球化率的影响规律。结果表明,实验所采用的直流非转移弧层流等离子体发生器能有效制备球化率接近100%的高球化率球形氧化铝粉末。实验发现,高球化率、高分散性和粒径大小均匀的球形氧化铝粉末可在不同工艺参数组合下制备,并证明了采用非转移弧分段式阳极层流等离子体发生器可实现较低功率下制备较高球化率球形氧化铝的可行性。实验还通过XRD与PDF卡片索引技术对球化前后的氧化铝粉末进行了物相定性分析,发现η相的氧化铝粉末经射流作用转化成了Corundum型的氧化铝粉末。  相似文献

By experimental observation we show that the plasma flow and heat transfer within a direct current (DC) nontransferred arc plasma torch always show appreciable three-dimensional (3D) peculiarity even when the geometrical construction of the torch and working gas admission and external electrical collection conditions are completely axisymmetrical.Previous two-dimensional (2D) modelling studies cannot predict the 3D peculiarity of the plasma torch.We have successfully performed 3D modelling,and in this paper we present the modelling results for the plasma flow and heat transfer characteristics in a laminar DC non-transferred are argon plasma torch.The predicted arc-root location on the surface of the torch anode and arc voltage compare favourably with the corresponding experimental results.  相似文献

A modular system for constructing an atmospheric pressure plasma source is presented and studied. The design and construction of the plasma torch module by modifying and reassembling the structural components of two different models of spark plugs are first described. Each module can produce a torch plasma of 1 cm radius and 6 cm height and having a peak density exceeding 1013 cm-3. A set of modules, each connected in series with a ballasting capacitor in the circuit, can be operated as an array sharing a common power source to produce a dense and large-volume plasma. The electrical characteristics of the module are studied for the case of a single module and two capacitively coupled modules. The discharge can be maintained, with the aid of ballasting capacitors, in a stable diffuse arc. Furthermore, the coupled discharges in an array of modules are operated with the maximum power efficiency as indicated by a near one power factor seen by the power line  相似文献

Collective behavior of the cathode spots (CS) has been investigated in free burning and stabilized by axial magnetic field (AMF) vacuum arcs. Experiments carried out proved previously discovered phenomenon of CS group formation in free burning arc to be a general phenomenon for a short high-current vacuum arc. The dependency of CS group size in the developed are on arc current for different contact materials has been analyzed. Application of AMF with even relatively low intensity strongly affects on cathode processes. In short arcs, it hinders formation of the CS group and consequently reduces thermal stress applied to the electrodes. It has been revealed that high current vacuum arc under the action of AMF can exist only at current densities exceeding certain minimal value that depends on AMF intensity, contact gap, and does not depend on current itself. The dependency of this minimal (or normal) current density on AMF intensity has been studied for short and long vacuum arcs. 采用主要由阴极、阳极以及介于阴极和阳极之间的中间段组成的直流非转移式电弧等离子体发生器,在大气压条件下,比较系统地研究了纯氩层流等离子体射流的长度随着弧电流、气体流量以及发生器结构而变化的规律。结果表明:层流射流的长度随弧电流和工作气流量的增加而增长;层流向湍流流动转变的临界气流量值随弧电流增大而提高;在发生器的伏安特性呈大梯度变化的情况下,射流长度随弧电流的变化幅度增大。  相似文献

The arc-root attachment on the anode surface of a dc non-transferred arc plasma torch has been successfully observed using a novel approach. A specially designed copper mirror with a boron nitride film coated on its surface central-region is employed to avoid the effect of intensive light emitted from the arc column upon the observation of weakly luminous arc root. It is found that the arc-root attachment is diffusive on the anode surface of the argon plasma torch, while constricted arc roots often occur when hydrogen or nitrogen is added into argon as the plasma-forming gas.  相似文献

A study was made to evaluate the electrothermal efficiency of a DC arc plasma torch and temperature and thermal conductivity of plasma jet in the torch. The torch was operated at power levels from 4 to 20 kW in non-transferred arc mode. The effect of nitrogen in combination with argon as plasma gas on the above properties was investigated. Calculations were made from experimental data. The electrothermal efficiency increased significantly with increase in nitrogen content. The plasma jet temperature and thermal conductivity exhibited a decrease with increase in nitrogen content. The experiment was done at different total gas flow rates. The results are explained on the basis of dissociation energy of nitrogen molecules and plasma jet energy loss to the cathode, anode and the walls of the torch  相似文献
