Scattering of a spinless projectile from a system of two (over-lapping or non-overlapping) local potentials is studied in the first-order eikonal expansion. Corrections to the Glauber formula are found to come mainly from the non-eikonal propagation in the “direct” double scattering, and not from multiple scattering (“reflections”).A comparison is made between the exact (to the leading order) and two approximate results: (i) based on the theory of scattering from non-overlapping potentials, and (ii) neglecting the reflection terms and adopting the local “Born-like” off-shell extrapolation of the two-body amplitudes. The second approximation is found to be more accurate and technically simpler in calculation of multiple scattering from many-body systems.  相似文献

We calculate amplitudes of inelastically scattered high-energy projectiles. For the example of scattering on 12C (Tp = 1 GeV) we demonstrate sizeable non-eikonal corrections in diffraction extrema even for relatively small q2. At least part of the anomaly in the 3-distribution may be due to these non-eikonal effects.  相似文献

Numerical results for the α3 differential cross section for e+e? → e+e? are presented for the case of e+e? colliding beams. Special care is given to the hard photon corrections. Acoplanarity distributions for e+e? → e+e?γ are also presented. Attention is drawn to experimental conditions which require the calculation of still higher order corrections.  相似文献

The corrections to the eikonal scattering amplitude are investigated. The Fresnel corrections to the eikonal solution of a quasipotential equation are obtained. In this review we consider the high energy processes in QED frames in peripherical kinematics. The key feature of this kinematics is that processes have a large cross section which do not decrease with the increasing of the initial center of mass energy. Two purposes to study peripheral processes are: the background processes with large total cross sections and the structure of jets in the fragmentation region.  相似文献

The two-loop radiative photonic corrections to Bhabha scattering are computed in the leading order of the small electron mass expansion up to the nonlogarithmic term. After including the soft photon bremsstrahlung, we obtain the infrared-finite result for the differential cross section, which can directly be applied to a precise luminosity determination of the present and future e+ e- colliders.  相似文献

The antiproton-nucleon t-matrix with propagation in the nuclear medium is calculated selfconsistently and applied to the construction of optical potentials for the elastic scattering of antiprotons from nuclei. We find that this treatment gives results that are sensitive to medium corrections even though the strong absorption acts to mask these corrections partially. The agreement with scattering experiments at 46.8 MeV on 12C is very good. We compare potentials containing medium corrections to those based on free pN amplitudes for 12C and 40Ca. The local approximation to the optical potential is found attractive at low energies, becoming shallower with increasing bombardment energy in the range considered here (up to about EL = 120 MeV).  相似文献

A statistical analysis of the elastic unpolarized electron-proton scattering data shows that at large momentum transfer the size and the ε dependence of the radiative corrections, as traditionally calculated and applied, may induce large correlations of the parameters of the Rosenbluth fit, which prevent a correct extraction of the electric proton form factor. Using the electron QED structure (radiation) function approach, the cross section of elastic electron-proton scattering in leading and next-to-leading approximations is calculated and expressed as a correction to the Born cross section, which is different for the electric and magnetic contributions. When properly applied to the data, it may yield the solution to the problem of the discrepancy of the polarized and unpolarized results on electron-proton scattering. A semiclassical model for inner Coulomb corrections to pion-nucleus scattering in the Δ-resonance region is suggested. Its main consequence is a change of the nuclear radius R, giving R(π?)R(π+) = 1+2Z αEk2 R. The Glauber model can be extended to include these effects.  相似文献

Motivated by precise neutrino experiments, we reconsider the electromagnetic radiative corrections to the data. We investigate the usefulness and demonstrate the simplicity of the “leading log” approximation: the calculation to order α ln (Q/μ), α ln (Q/mq). Here Q is an energy scale of the overall process, μ is the lepton mass and mq is a hadronic mass, the effective quark mass in a parton model. We identify those questions the answers to which do not depend on unknown hadron parameters like quark masses. The leading log radiative corrections to dδ/dy distributions and to suitably interpreted dδ/dx distributions are quark-mass independent. We improve upon the conventional leading log approximation and compute explicitly the largest terms that lie beyond the leading log level. In practice this means that our model-independent formulae, though approximate, are likely to be excellent estimates everywhere except at low energy or very large y. We point out that radiative corrections to measurements of deviations from the Callan-Gross relation and to measurements of the “sea” constituency of nucleons are gigantic. The QCD inspired study of deviations from scaling is of particular interest. We compute, beyond the leading log level, the radiative corrections to the QCD predictions.  相似文献

The radiative corrections to elastic pion-nucleus scattering are evaluated for kinematical conditions pertaining to the pion spectrometer facilities at the newer meson factories, and are found to be experimentally relevant.
