Ein richtungsempfindliches Zählrohr und seine Anwendung beim Li8→Be8*-Zerfall

A new type of proportional counter having a directional dependent efficiency has been used to measure the angular distribution of the α-particles of Be⁸ in the reaction Li⁸→Be^8*. From the experiment an upper limit of 10% for the amount of the Fermi contribution in the Li⁸ beta-decay is deduced.     

Relativmessung der Elektronenpolarisation beim β-Zerfall: Re186 und P32

The ratio of longitudinal polarization values of Re¹⁸⁶ and P³² β-particles was measured by the method of double scattering. The result obtained isP(Re¹⁸⁶)/P(P³²)=1,002 _?0,016 ⁺ at 540 keV. The contributions of the ground state transition and the first excited state transition of Re¹⁸⁶ are 78% and 22% respectively at this energy for the apparatus used.     

Hyperfine interactions of short-lived β-emitter 8Li in ferromagnetic Ni

Hyperfine interactions of ⁸Li impurity nucleus imbedded in ferromagnetic Ni metal were studied using the β-NMR technique. Two kinds of hyperfine fields B₈₂ were found, corresponding to two different final sites of Li atoms in the Ni lattice. The nuclear spin-lattice relaxation times T₁ of ⁸Li in Ni were also determined for each field. Temperature dependencies of B₈₂ and T₁ were observed to deduce these values at T=0 K that can be compared with those calculated recently by Akai et al. Untersuchung von Strömungs- und Erstarrungsvorgängen beim kontinuierlichen Aluminiumguß

Beim Breitbandgießwalzen von Aluminium (Hunter-Anlage) und beim Gießwalzen von Schmalband (Rotary-Anlage) wurden Untersuchungen mit dem Radioisotop ¹⁹⁸Au durchgeführt, deren Ziel die qualitative und quantitative Verbesserung der Produktion von Aluminiumhalbzeugen auf diesen Anlagen war. Es wird gezeigt, daß das autoradiographische Verfahren eine geeignete Methode ist, um Probleme wie die optimale Gestaltung des Gießtraktes oder die Ermittlung der günstigslen Gießparameter zu lösen. Eine Gegenüberstellung von Autoradiogrammen und metallographischen Darstellungen zeigt, daß auch strukturelle Unterschiede im Metallgefüge mit Hilfe der Autoradiogramme besser interpretiert werden können und sich somit die Aussagekraft derartiger Untersuchungen erhöht.     

Messung der Kettenlänge für den β-Zerfall der Spaltprodukte bei der thermischen Spaltung von U235

The various masses of fission products of U²³⁵-thermal fission were spacially separated by a helium filled magnetic mass separator. The number and energy of theβ-decays to the stable nuclides were counted and measured by a scintillation spectrometer. The time dependance of theβ-activity andβ-energy of the total of the U²³⁵ fission products was measured. The number ofβ-decays/fission was found to be (6,9±0,4)β-particles fission, the energy liberated byβ-decays (8,1±0,4) MeV/fission. A calculation of the totalβ-decay energy is given and compared with experimental data. The chainlengths ofβ-decay chains as a function of mass of the fission products were measured. Data on prompt neutron emission from fission products combined with the chainlength measurement give the mass dependance of the most probable charge of the primarily formed fission products. A recent model of asymmetric fission is shown to agree with the experimental data. The data give strong evidence that the filled nucleon shells ofZ=50 andN=50 are responsible for the asymmetric fission mechanism.
