The ionization dynamics of Ar and Xe clusters irradiated with intense vacuum ultraviolet light from a free-electron laser is investigated using photoelectron spectroscopy. Clusters comprising between 70 and 900 atoms were irradiated with femtosecond pulses at 95 nm wavelength (approximately 13 eV photon energy) and a peak intensity of approximately 4 x 10(12) W/cm2. A broad thermal distribution of emitted electrons from clusters with a maximum kinetic energy up to 30-40 eV is observed. The observation of relatively low-energy photoelectrons is in good agreement with calculations using a time-dependent Thomas-Fermi model and gives experimental evidence of an outer ionization process of the clusters, due to delayed thermoelectronic emission.  相似文献

An investigation of athermal luminescence triggered at a tungsten surface by thermal deformations produced by laser pulses is reported. The spectral composition and time dependence of individual spectral components of the luminescence are investigated. The harmonic emission from thin solid carbon and aluminum foils, irradiated by 150 fs long frequency-doubled Ti:sapphire laser pulses at lambda=395 nm and peak intensities of a few 10(18) W/cm(2), has been studied. In addition to the harmonics emitted from the front side in the specular direction, we observe harmonics up to the 10th order, including the fundamental from the rear side in the direction of the incident beam, while the foil is still strongly overdense. The experimental observations are well reproduced by particle-in-cell simulations. They reveal that strong coupling between the laser-irradiated side and the rear side occurs via the nonlocal electron current driven by the laser light.  相似文献

测量了聚焦光强为1016W/cm2的超短脉冲激光与乙醇微滴相互作用中产生的能量大于50?keV的超热电子的角分布和电子能谱.观察到的超热电子角分布明显依赖于激光的偏振特性,在与激光偏振平面平行的平面上超热电子相对于激光入射方向呈对称的双叶状分布.超热电子的能谱显示超热电子的最大能量大于750?keV.以上超热电子的角分布可用一个基于共振吸收机制的模型加以解释. 关键词: 超短脉冲激光 超热电子 微滴 共振吸收  相似文献

Recent significant improvements of the contrast ratio of chirped pulse amplified pulses allows us to extend the applicability domain of laser accelerated protons to very thin targets. In this framework, we propose an analytical model particularly suitable to reproducing ion laser acceleration experiments using high intensity and ultrahigh contrast pulses. The model is based on a self-consistent solution of the Poisson equation using an adiabatic approximation for laser generated fast electrons which allows one to find the target thickness maximizing the maximum proton (and ion) energies and population as a function of the laser parameters. Model furnished values show a good agreement with experimental data and 2D particle-in-cell simulation results.  相似文献

The photoluminescence spectra of CdS single crystals irradiated by electrons (E = 1.2 MeV, Φ = 2×1017 cm?2) are investigated in the visible and near-infrared regions of electromagnetic radiation. Some samples of the CdS single crystals are preliminarily irradiated by neutrons (E = 2 MeV, Φ = 2 × 1018 cm?2) with the aim of increasing the concentration of initial structural defects. From analyzing the peak intensities of photoluminescence in the irradiated single crystals at the wavelengths λm = 0.720, 1.030, and 0.605 μm, it is concluded that the CdS samples with a low concentration of structural defects in the initial state possess the highest resistance to electron radiation. It is assumed that the observed transformation of the photoluminescence spectra of the imperfect CdS single crystals subjected to electron irradiation is determined by either the mechanisms of subthreshold defect formation or the transformation of the defect complexes in elastic and electric fields near the large structural damages of the crystal lattice.  相似文献

A simple autocorrelation scheme for measurement of single ultrashort light pulses in the 1–500 ps range is proposed. Only a diffraction grating and a mirror are utilized to obtain a variable time delay between two collinear beams. This study exaines CdS single crystals subjected to a special nonalloying treatment, alloyed with copper, and annealed in a cadmium atmosphere. Irradiation of the test specimens by electrons with E 1.2 MeV led to the formation of mobile defects and to decomposition of the original donor-acceptor associates. Over time, the primary radiation defects form secondary defects which act as fast recombination centers responsible for impurity photoconductivity. New donor-acceptor pairs are formed when the irradiated specimens are stored, these pairs being paramagnetic centers. In a scalable quantum computer, based on trapped electrons in vacuum, qubits are encoded in the external (cyclotron motion) and internal (spin) degrees of freedom. We show how to extend the technique of composite pulses to manipulate the cyclotron oscillator without leaving the computational subspace. In particular, we describe and discuss how to implement the explicit pulse sequence which operates the conditional phase shift between the cyclotron and the spin qubits.  相似文献

Pulses with durations below 4 fs have been generated using the method of ultrafast molecular phase modulation. A laser pulse shorter than the molecular vibrational or rotational period obtains spectral broadening during propagation along a hollow waveguide filled with previously impulsively excited Raman active gases. The induced time dependent phase, frequency, and frequency chirp are controllable by changing the delay between excitation and probe pulse within the molecular vibrational period.  相似文献

在现有的一维粒子模拟程序的基础上发展了带光电离和碰撞电离及蒙特卡罗两体碰撞的模拟程序(1D PIC-MCC). 用此程序模拟研究了短脉冲激光与He气靶相互作用时电子和离子的加速过程. 研究表明当强激光与过临界密度的微米厚度的平面靶相互作用时,靶前表面物质将被激光脉冲前沿迅速离化;新生的电子被激光场有质动力加速成为高能电子,这些电子穿入到靶内,通过电子碰撞电离离化靶内物质;一部分高能电子穿透靶后,会在靶的后表面形成强的电荷分离场,该场迅速离化靶后表面物质,同时使得后表面离子得到加速. 部分穿透靶的超热电子将被电荷分离场重新拉回靶内,在靶的前后表面振荡. 一些振荡电子在此过程中得到电荷分离场加速,离开前表面,在前表面也形成电荷分离场,使前表面离子得到加速. 关键词: 激光等离子体 光电离和碰撞电离 电子加速 离子加速  相似文献
