Conventional centrifugal pumps with volute casing generate fluid-dynamic noise particularly at the so-called blade-passing frequency, which is attributed to the interaction of the flow exiting the pump impeller with the volute tongue. Following previous work by the authors to characterize the effect of that blade–tongue interaction on the tonal sound produced, this paper presents a simple acoustic model for centrifugal pumps that considers ideal sound sources of arbitrary position and properties. The model is to be implemented in a software code that applies it systematically to a pump previously tested at laboratory, until identifying the set of ideal sources that best reproduce the pressure fluctuation measurements. In this model, the ideal sources are assumed to radiate plane sound waves along the impeller channels, volute, and outlet diffuser. The volute was considered to be composed by a succession of slices, each of them equivalent to a linear 3-port acoustic system with individual sound transmission and reflection coefficients. A series of tests was conducted to check the validity of the acoustic model, by applying an external acoustic load onto the pump outlet duct and measuring the noise reflected. The resulting reflection coefficient was in good agreement with the predictions of the acoustic model. Finally, the model was used to investigate the pump internal sound field at the blade-passing frequency when operating at 70% of nominal flow rate. It was concluded that the sound field can be characterized reasonably by a dipole-like source located at the tongue region.  相似文献

Vibration-induced gear noise and dynamic loads remain key concerns in many transmission applications that use planetary gears. Tooth separations at large vibrations introduce nonlinearity in geared systems. The present work examines the complex, nonlinear dynamic behavior of spur planetary gears using two models: (i) a lumped-parameter model, and (ii) a finite element model. The two-dimensional (2D) lumped-parameter model represents the gears as lumped inertias, the gear meshes as nonlinear springs with tooth contact loss and periodically varying stiffness due to changing tooth contact conditions, and the supports as linear springs. The 2D finite element model is developed from a unique finite element-contact analysis solver specialized for gear dynamics. Mesh stiffness variation excitation, corner contact, and gear tooth contact loss are all intrinsically considered in the finite element analysis. The dynamics of planetary gears show a rich spectrum of nonlinear phenomena. Nonlinear jumps, chaotic motions, and period-doubling bifurcations occur when the mesh frequency or any of its higher harmonics are near a natural frequency of the system. Responses from the dynamic analysis using analytical and finite element models are successfully compared qualitatively and quantitatively. These comparisons validate the effectiveness of the lumped-parameter model to simulate the dynamics of planetary gears. Mesh phasing rules to suppress rotational and translational vibrations in planetary gears are valid even when nonlinearity from tooth contact loss occurs. These mesh phasing rules, however, are not valid in the chaotic and period-doubling regions.  相似文献

This work developed a computational process to predict noise radiation from gearboxes. It developed a system-level vibro-acoustic model of an actual gearbox, including gears, bearings, shafts, and housing structure, and compared the results to experiments. The meshing action of gear teeth causes vibrations to propagate through shafts and bearings to the housing radiating noise. The vibration excitation from the gear mesh and the system response were predicted using finite element and lumped-parameter models. From these results, the radiated noise was calculated using a boundary element model of the housing. Experimental vibration and noise measurements from the gearbox confirmed the computational predictions. The developed tool was used to investigate the influence of standard rolling element and modified journal bearings on gearbox radiated noise.  相似文献

This paper presents a methodology to reduce the noise of an axial piston pump through modification of the housing structure, combined with both numerical and experimental methods. The finite element models of the housing and cover are established, and are assembled together. The finite element models are validated and updated using experimental modal analysis. The frequency response function of the assembly is calculated, and the shell element in the inner surfaces of the housing is added. The effects of the thickness of the shell element on the frequency response function are identified. A topology optimization is conducted for the purpose of reducing the frequency response function and the increase of mass. The prototype pump is manufactured and assembled. Different experimental measurements are carried out, including the measurement of the vibration and the distributions of the sound pressure levels around the pump. Results show that the vibration and noise are reduced by using the optimized housing. In particular, the average sound pressure level is reduced by about 2 dB(A) at the discharge pressure of 250 bar, and the sound pressure level at the second harmonic is reduced significantly. The method proposed here can also be used for other kinds of displacement pumps.  相似文献

We measure photon-assisted tunneling in 4- and 6-junction electron pumps at photon frequencies up to 60 GHz. We determine the microwave voltage at the pumps using noise thermometry. The standard theory of leakage in the electron pump, modified to include photon-assisted tunneling, describes our experiments well. From this test of theory we argue that, in the absence of external microwaves, photon-assisted tunneling driven by 1/f noise is an important error mechanism in electron pumps.  相似文献

In this paper, numerical simulation has been used to predict the noise inside tracked vehicles. To determine the interaction forces between running track system and the chassis hull of a tracked vehicle, a rigid multi-body tracked vehicle mode, which includes the track moving system, was constructed and simulated using ADAMS software. Finite element (FE) and boundary element (BE) models of the chassis hull of a tracked vehicle were created and adopted to perform the vibro-acoustic analysis. Correlation between the FE and BE models and physical measurements proved sufficiently good that the models could be used to predict the interior noise in a tracked vehicle. The structural frequency dynamic response was determined using the software MSC/NASTRAN. The interior noise was predicted using the software SYSNOISE. The predicted noise levels in a tracked vehicle have been found to be in good agreement with physical measurements.  相似文献

We demonstrate passive combination of multiple beams in an optical fiber via stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS). Four off-axis beams are combined in a long multimode optical fiber using a novel all-optical mount. The combined beam has the high spatial coherence properties of the LP(01) mode owing to the beam cleanup properties of SBS. The threshold for SBS when off-axis pumps are used is shown to be a factor of 13 times higher than for on-axis pump beams. We propose this method would improve the brightness of an array of fiber amplifiers.  相似文献

The paper provides an investigation into the influence of the periodic variation in the boundaries of the dead-zone between the teeth, caused by the Transmission Error, on the gear rattle phenomenon.The study represents an evolution of a theoretical model, which has already been developed by the authors, to analyze lightly loaded gear pairs, accounting for oil squeeze effects between the gear teeth.An experimental test rig and a methodology to estimate the transmission error parameters, starting from an experimental acquisition, are described.A number of experimental-theoretical correlations concerning the influence of transmission errors on gear dynamics are reported in order to validate the theoretical model.  相似文献

In this paper the authors describe a detailed spectral analysis of noise in a rotary vacuum pump. The noise sample studied could help to identify various noise sources in different frequency regions. The importance of correct balancing/machining of the rotor and the stator and the optimisation of the oil flow rate are also stressed. 针对产品开发过程中某柴油车型发动机油底壳怠速时“呜呜”异响问题,通过噪声与振动的测试及仿真分析,对油底壳异响原因进行分析。结果表明,怠速时机油泵的工作激励频率与油底壳模态频率耦合,形成“呜呜”声,并通过油底壳表面辐射出来。进一步实验研究表明,随着机油温度的升高,机油泵功率、工作激励幅值会逐步减小,异响逐步减小。同时实验研究表明,机油量对油底壳模态频率有影响,油底壳内机油加注量越多,油底壳模态频率越低,油底壳表面振动幅值及异响均逐步减小。针对该异响问题,明确该发动机机油加注上限及下限时油底壳对应频率范围后,通过优化怠速转速,提高油底壳模态频率等使机油泵激励频率与油底壳模态频率避频,解决了该异响问题。  相似文献

Simple, lightweight electrohydrodynamic pumps having no moving parts and producing no mechanical vibration or noise can enhance heat transfer, control fluid flows, and increase drying. This paper reports a numerical investigation of electrohydrodynamic (EHD) pumps having one centrally located emitter and two collector electrodes. Results show that optimum sizes exist in the length of and spacing between the collectors. Collector electrodes with triangular cross-sections can yield better performance than those having rectangular cross-sections. The magnitude and distribution of the charge density significantly influence pump performance.  相似文献

A finite element (FE) model and a boundary element (BE) model have been developed to predict the decay rate, vibration and noise responses of an embedded rail track. These models are validated using measured results. The optimisation of the embedded rail track is conducted using these calculated models. The results indicate that the optimised cross-section of the gutter for the embedding rail can significantly reduce the radiated noise of the embedded rail track. The embedded rail track using the I-shaped cross-section gutter reduces the radiated noise of the track by at least by 3 dB(A). Furthermore, combining the material parameter optimisation with the gutter cross-section optimisation can further reduce the radiated noise of the embedded rail track. Increasing the Young’s modulus of the rail pad in the embedded rail track with the I-shaped cross-section gutter can result in a radiated noise reduction of 4 dB(A).  相似文献

The primary aim of machinery isolation in marine vessels is to isolate structural vibration of the onboard machinery from the hull and to reduce far-field radiation of underwater noise. A substantial proportion of the total submarine mass is on flexible mounts that isolate supported masses from the hull at frequencies above the mounting system resonant frequency. This reduces the dynamically effective mass of the hull and affects the signature of the marine vessel due to propeller excitation. A fully coupled finite element/boundary element (FE/BE) model has been developed to investigate the effect of mass distribution and isolation in a submerged hull. The finite element model of the structure includes internal structures to represent the machinery and other flexibly mounted components. Changes in the radiated sound power demonstrate the effect of machinery isolation on the acoustic signature of the submerged hull due to the external propeller forces. Results are also presented to show how the arrangement of flexible mounts for a large internal structure can influence the radiation due to machinery forces.  相似文献

为了有效解决运动船舶目标噪声源辐射部位定位问题,通过采用短时积分,分频段能量融合、噪声源相对位置分析等方法克服目标运动的不利因素,提出采用高频段精确定位的常规聚焦波束形成声图法与中低频段精确定位的频域MVDR (MinimumVariance Distortionless Response)波束形成声图法相结合的定位方法。通过海试数据处理验证了该方法可以有效实现目标噪声源辐射部位近场高分辨定位。在进行大型船海试数据处理时,采用分频段、分时间段,并与船体结构布局相结合的方法,分别给出了主要的噪声源辐射部位(螺旋桨、推进电机+柴油发电机、泵舱)的位置,验证了该实验数据处理方法的实用性。   相似文献

This paper presents a detailed investigation of the performance of a wavelength conversion scheme. The converter is based on four wave mixing in semiconductor optical amplifiers using two parallel polarised pumps. Measurements of the conversion efficiency and the signal to background noise ratio of the two replicas of the signal, for the cases of the signal polarisation being either parallel or orthogonal relative to the pump waves have been carried out. These measurements will reveal the polarisation sensitivity of this scheme which appears to be less than 1 dB when the wavelength spacing between the signal and its closest spaced pump is larger than 12 nm. The experimental results are supported in a satisfactory way by theoretical considerations. A simple theoretical expression describing the polarisation sensitivity have been derived and the theoretical results are in good agreement with those experimentally obtained. A performance comparison of the conversion scheme using semiconductor optical amplifiers with different lengths but the same structure is also performed. Through the following study the optimum operational conditions for this wavelength conversion scheme will be determined.  相似文献

An enhanced dynamic finite element (FE) model with friction coupling is applied to analyze the design of disc brake pad structure for squeal noise reduction. The FE model is built-up from the individual brake component representations. Its interfacial structural connections and boundary conditions are determined by correlating to a set of measured frequency response functions using a spectral-based assurance criterion. The proposed friction coupling formulation produces an asymmetric system stiffness matrix that yields a set of complex conjugate eigenvalues. The analysis shows that eigenvalues possessing positive real parts tend to produce unstable modes with the propensity towards the generation of squeal noise. Using a proposed lumped parameter model and eigenvalue sensitivity study, beneficial pad design changes can be identified and implemented in the detailed FE model to determine the potential improvements in the dynamic stability of the system. Also, a selected set of parametric studies is performed to evaluate numerous design concepts using the proposed dynamic FE model. The best pad design attained, which produces the least amount of squeal response, is finally validated by comparison to a set of actual vehicle test results.  相似文献
