A new regime of electron transport through an impurity in 1D conductors, which resembles the Josephson effect in its manifestations, is predicted. Passage of current through the impurity under voltages above the threshold value is accompanied with generation of ac current oscillations. The temperature below which the effect can be observed, the threshold voltage, and the frequency range are determined by the impurity potential and the strength of electron-electron interaction. The generation line width and the current-voltage characteristics are determined.  相似文献

We study the influence of moderate exchange interactions on the behavior of the peaks in the conductance of single electron transistors. We numerically reproduce recently observed features of the magnetic field dependence of both the peak positions and heights. These features unambiguously identify the total spin S of each ground state. We evaluate the probability of each S as a function of the exchange strength J, and external magnetic field B. The expressions involve only J and the g factor as adjustable parameters. For a broad parameter range these probabilities are determined by a linear combination of J and gB.  相似文献

当孤立子内波的波阵面与声传播路径所成角度较大时,简正波耦合是导致声信号起伏的主要因素。研究了浅海中孤立子内波引起的声能量起伏规律,给出声场起伏的耦合简正波表达式,并使用抛物方程模型进行仿真。数值分析表明,接收点声强随时间变化呈准周期性。在频谱图中能够得到声强起伏的主导频率,主导频率与孤立子内波沿声传播路径的移动速度成正比,与无扰动波导中简正波在距离上的干涉周期(对应于射线理论中临界声线的跨度)成反比,与孤立子内波的形状无关。此外,对声强频谱的垂直结构进行了分析,该结构与对声场起伏起主要作用简正波的本征函数相关。  相似文献

Narrow equidistant peaks are recorded in the microphotoluminescence spectra of GaAs/AlxGa1−x As superlattices with thin barrier layers. An approximate method, consisting of the reduction of a three-dimensional problem to a one-dimensional problem, is developed for calculating the electronic spectrum of quantum dots of arbitrary shape. It is shown on the basis of this method that the observed peaks may be due to the formation of electronic states of a new type, which are produced as a result of the overlapping of fluctuations of the thicknesses of adjacent wells in structures with thin barriers. The equidistant spectrum of the new states is accounted for by the nearly quadratic dependence of the diameter of the overlap regions on the coordinate in the plane of the layers. Pis’ma Zh. éksp. We study the effect of Coulomb interactions on the conductance of a single-mode quantum wire connecting two bulk leads. When the density of electrons in the wire is very low, they arrange in a finite-length Wigner crystal. In this regime the electron spins form an antiferromagnetic Heisenberg chain with an exponentially small coupling J. An electric current in the wire perturbs the spin chain and gives rise to a temperature-dependent contribution of the spin subsystem to the resistance. At low temperature TJ the spin effect reduces the conductance to e2/h.  相似文献

The conduction electron density of states nearby single magnetic impurities, as measured recently by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), is calculated, taking into account tunneling into conduction electron states only. The Kondo effect induces a narrow Fano resonance in the conduction electron density of states. The line shape varies with the distance between STM tip and impurity, in qualitative agreement with experiments, but is very sensitive to details of the band structure. For a Co impurity the experimentally observed width and shift of the Kondo resonance are in accordance with those obtained from a combination of band structure and strongly correlated calculations.  相似文献

We use the T-matrix approximation to analyze the effect of a localized impurity on the local density of states in monolayer and bilayer graphene. For monolayer graphene the Friedel oscillations generated by intranodal scattering obey an inverse-square law, while the internodal ones obey an inverse law. In the Fourier transform this translates into a filled circle of high intensity in the center of the Brillouin zone, and empty circular contours around its corners. For bilayer graphene both types of oscillations obey an inverse law.  相似文献

It is shown that the contributions of two-stage resonance processes in which the state of an electron does not vary as a result of nuclear relaxation are not taken into account in the usual equations for the rate of nuclear relaxation by paramagnetic impurities. In particular, these transitions yield a contribution precisely equal to the contribution of cross-over processes. A brief account is given of the theory of the vibrations of an imperfect crystal containing isolated impurities and pairs of impurities, and the strength of the induced infra-red absorption is discussed. An analysis is then made, by the methods of group theory, of the energy levels and expected optical transitions of an anharmonic localized oscillator vibrating in a static potential well with various point symmetries. These results are compared with the available experimental data for pairs of impurities and more complicated impurity aggregates in ionic crystals with the fluorite and rocksalt structures, and also for similar defects in the covalent crystals silicon, germanium and some III–V compound materials.  相似文献

We study conductance fluctuations of the edge-state sheath that forms in the integer quantum Hall effect from the coupled edge states of a GaAs/AlxGa1  xAs multilayer. Comparison of the measured variance in the vertical conductance to recent theoretical predictions for mesoscopic fluctuations suggests dephasing lengths of 1–10 μm around the sheath perimeter at low temperatures. However, inconsistencies in the estimated inelastic lengths indicate that present understanding of dephasing on the sheath is incomplete.  相似文献

We have studied the effect of temperature on the birefringence and polarization mode dispersion PMD in standard single mode fibre (SSMF) with elliptical core cross section by using numerical computations. On the basis of simulation we have concluded that PMD fluctuates more rapidly than the stress-induced birefringence. In addition, DGD is inversely proportional to temperature.  相似文献

Imaging the effects of an impurity like Zn in high-Tc superconductors [Nature 61 (2000) 746] has rekindled interest in defect problems in the superconducting phase. This has prompted us here to re-examine the early work of March and Murray [Phys. Rev. 120 (1960) 830] on the linear response function in an initially translationally invariant Fermi gas. In particular, we present corresponding results for a superconductor at zero temperature, both in the s- and in the d-wave case, and mention their direct physical relevance in the case when the impurity potential is highly localized.  相似文献
