The aggregation behavior of a fluorinated surfactant (FC-4) was studied by surface tension measurements in 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([bmim][BF 4]) and hexafluorophosphate ([bmim][PF 6]) at various temperatures. A series of surface properties, including adsorption efficiency (p C 20), effectiveness of surface tension reduction (Pi CAC), maximum surface excess concentration (Gamma max) and minimum surface area/molecule (A(min)) at the air-water interface were estimated. By comparing the fluorinated surfactant with traditional surfactants, we deduced that the surface activity of the fluorinated surfactant in ILs was superior to the activity of other surfactants. From the CAC values and their temperature dependence, we estimated the thermodynamic parameters of aggregate formation. The thermodynamic parameters indicate that the aggregate of FC-4 in [bmim][BF 4] is a traditional micelle, while the aggregate of FC-4 in [bmim][PF 6] is nanodroplets composed of FC-4 molecules segregated from the solution phase. These results were further confirmed by (1)H NMR measurements.  相似文献

1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloroaluminate ionic liquids have been employed as an unconventional reaction media and as Lewis acid catalyst for Friedel-Crafts sulfonylation reaction of benzene and substituted benzenes with 4-methyl benzenesulfonyl chloride. The substrates exhibited enhanced reactivity, furnishing almost quantitative yields of diaryl sulfones, under ambient conditions. Studies concerning the effect of Lewis acidity of the ionic liquid on the initial extent of conversion of this reaction has been carried out. (27)Al NMR spectroscopy has been exploited as a tool to investigate the mechanistic details of the reaction. (27)Al NMR spectral studies show the predominance of [Al(2)Cl(7)](-) species in [bmim]Cl-AlCl(3), N = 0.67, acidic ionic liquid in the presence of 4-methyl benzenesulfonyl chloride, and after the reaction with the aromatic hydrocarbon, [AlCl(4)](-) species predominates. This change in speciation of aluminum can be attributed to the interaction of the Lewis acidic species [Al(2)Cl(7)](-) of the ionic liquid with the formed HCl during the sulfonylation reaction, which is evidenced by the control experiment. Preliminary investigations on Friedel-Crafts acylation further substantiate the argument.  相似文献

Photoinduced electron transfer in two room-temperature ionic liquids, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate (BMIM-PF(6)) and 1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate (OMIM-PF(6)), has been investigated using steady-state fluorescence quenching of 9,10-dicyanoanthracene with a series of single electron donors. From these fluorescence quenching rates, reorganization energy (lambda) values and k(diff) values can be derived from a Rehm-Weller analysis. In many cases, these fluorescence quenching reactions occur at rates larger than what would be expected based on the Smoluchowski equation. In addition, lambda values of 10.1 kcal/mol and 16.3 kcal/mol for BMIM-PF(6) and OMIM-PF(6), respectively, have been determined.  相似文献

We have continued the study of halide nucleophilicity in ionic liquids, concentrating on the effect of changing the anion ([BF(4)](-), [PF(6)](-), [SbF(6)](-), [OTf](-), and [N(Tf)(2)](-)) when the cation is [bmim](+) (where bmim = 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium). It was found that the nucleophilicities of all the halides were lower in all of the ionic liquids than in dichloromethane. Changing the anion affected the order of halide nucleophilicity, e.g., in [bmim][BF(4)] the order of nucleophilicity was Cl(-)>Br(-)>I(-) while in [bmim][N(Tf)(2)] the order was Cl(-)相似文献

Electrochemical behaviors of U(VI) in 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride (C4MimCl) with various water contents investigated by chronopotentiometry and cyclic voltammetry. The electrochemical reduction of U(VI) was identified to follow two processes: a lower valence intermediate U(V) was initially formed at the potential of ca. ?0.2 V(vs. Ag wire). Then, further deposition of UO2 was followed at around ?0.8 V. Little amount of water (1–4 wt%) in C4MimCl, however, has an effect on the U(VI) reduction by changing the current density of the redox reaction and the diffusion coefficient of U(VI) in C4MimCl. The deposited product by potentiostatic electrolysis on the surface of stainless steel electrode was characterized by the scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) methods. Although the electrodeposited black film was amorphous, the electrochemical reduced product of U(VI) can be still confirmed to be UO2 by XRD after the crystallization of the amorphous deposits at 1,073 K in nitrogen atmosphere.  相似文献

The relatively hydrophobic ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate has been found to be totally miscible with aqueous ethanol between 0.5 and 0.9 mol fraction ethanol, whereas the ionic liquid is only partially miscible with either pure water or absolute ethanol; the ability to dissolve 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate in a 'green' aqueous solvent system has important implications for cleaning, purification, and separations using ionic liquids.  相似文献

1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ionic liquid was employed as a reaction medium for lipase-catalysed aliphatic polyester synthesis. Lipase PS-C exhibited excellent catalysis in polycondensation of diethyl octane-1,8-dicarboxylate and 1,4-butanediol at room temperature and at 60°C. Electrochemical oxidation of silver in the 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide ([BMIm]Br) ionic liquid is studied by cyclic voltammetry, chronopotentiometry, chronoammetry, and gravimetry. The methods of potentiometry, voltammetry, and gravimetry are used to study the electrochemical behavior of copper in the BMImBr-CuBr2 ionic liquid (0?C30.5 mol % CuBr2). It is shown that electrochemical reduction of copper(II) occurs irreversibly, in two one-electron stages (transfer coefficient ?? of the cathodic process are 0.58 and 0.46, accordingly, for the first and second stages). Diffusion coefficients of copper-containing ions D Cu(II) at 60°C are 1.3 × 10?7 and 1.6 × 10?7 cm2 s?1 in melts with the CuBr2 concentration of 0.1 and 1.5 mol kg?1 of BMImBr, accordingly. High (up to 98%) deposition efficiency and high-quality copper deposit can be obtained in the potential range of ?2.0 to ?1.8 V (vs. a platinum quasireference electrode). It is found that the copper corrosion rate grows at an increase in the CuBr2 concentration in the binary melt and is comparable with that in aqueous solutions of H2SO4-CuSO4.  相似文献

In this paper we analyse the electronic properties of gas-phase 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium Cl ion pairs, [C(4)C(1)im]Cl, in order to deepen our understanding of ionic liquids in general. Examination of charge densities, natural bond orbitals (NBO), and delocalised molecular orbitals computed at the B3LYP and MP2/6-31(++)G(d,p) levels have enabled us to explain a number of experimental phenomena: the relative acidity of different sites on the imidazolium ring, variations in hydrogen-bond donor and acceptor abilities, the apparent contradiction of the hydrogen-bond-donor parameters for different types of solute, the low probability of finding a Cl(-) anion at the rear of the imidazolium ring and the expansion of the imidazolium ring in the presence of a strong hydrogen-bond acceptor. The unreactive but coordinating environment and large electrochemical window have also been accounted for, as has the strong electron-donating character of the carbon atoms to the rear of the ring in associated imidazolylidenes. The electronic structure of the [C(4)C(1)im](+) cation is best described by a C(4)==C(5) double bond at the rear, and a delocalised three-centre 4 e(-) component across the front (N(1)-C(2)-N(3)) of the imidazolium ring; delocalisation between these regions is also significant. Hydrogen-bond formation is driven by Coulombic stabilisation, which compensates for an associated destabilisation of the electronic part of the system. Interactions are dominated by a large positive charge at C(2) and the build up of pi-electron density above and below the ring, particularly that associated with the double bond between C(4) and C(5). The NBO partial charges have been computed and compared with those used in a number of classical simulations.  相似文献

Room temperature ionic liquids (RTIL) are molten salts that are liquids at room temperature. Their liquid state makes them possible candidates as solvents in countercurrent chromatography (CCC), which uses solvents as both the mobile and stationary phases. The study focuses on 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate (BMIM PF6), an easy to synthesize and purify RTIL whose melting point is –8°C. It is shown that BMIM PF6 behaves like a solvent of significant polarity (comparable with that of ethanol). The ternary phase diagram water–acetonitrile–BMIM PF6 is given, because it was necessary to add acetonitrile to reduce the ionic liquid viscosity. The 40:20:40% w/w water–acetonitrile–BMIM PF6 biphasic liquid system was found to be appropriate as a biphasic liquid system for CCC. Different aromatic solutes, including bases, acids, and neutral compounds, were injected into the CCC column to estimate their distribution constants between the ionic liquid-rich phase and the aqueous phase. The resulting Kil/w constants were compared with the corresponding literature octanol–water partition coefficients, Ko/w. The important drawbacks in the use of RTIL in CCC are clearly pointed out: high viscosity producing pressure build-up, UV absorbance limiting the use of the convenient UV detector, and non-volatility precluding the use of the evaporative light-scattering detector for continuous detection.  相似文献

Amino acid ionic liquids (AAILs) have huge potential in the field of protein chemistry, enzymatic reactions, templates for synthetic study etc. which is due to their distinctive properties like unique acid-base characteristics, tunable hydrophobicity, hydrogen bonding ability and strong hydration effects. To explore the field of bio-ionic liquids for its real life applications and sustainable technology development, it is essential to have better understanding of these newly researched liquid salts in life’s most chosen medium, i.e. in aqueous medium, through study of their physicochemical properties in aqueous solutions. In this context, we are reporting herewith measurements and analysis of volumetric properties in the temperature range of (293.15 to 313.25) K and acoustic properties at 298.15 K in the concentration range of (0.05 to 0.5) mol · kg−1 for aqueous solutions of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium [Bmim] based amino acid ionic liquids, prepared from glycine, l-alanine, l-valine, l-leucine and l-isoleucine. The experimental density and sound speed data were used to obtain apparent, partial and limiting molar volumes as well as isentropic and isothermal compressibility properties. These data have been further used to understand electrostriction as well as concentration dependence of internal pressure. The hydration numbers for AAILs in aqueous medium were estimated from compressibility data using Passynski method and the estimated ionic hydration numbers are compared with those obtained using activity data. The results are explained in terms of cooperative hydration effects, hydrophobic interactions, kosmotropic behavior of AAILs, etc.  相似文献

Heat capacities and enthalpies of phase transitions for a series of 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide ionic liquids have been measured by adiabatic calorimetry. Thermodynamic properties of the compounds were calculated in the temperature range of (5 to 370) K. Water was found to have an additive contribution to the heat capacities of [C4mim]Br in the liquid state above Tfus and in the solid state below 160 K at w(H2O)  5 · 10−3.  相似文献

The aggregation behavior of long-chain ionic liquids 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide (C(n)mimBr) in another ionic liquid, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (bmimBF(4)), was studied for the first time. Surface tension measurements revealed that aggregates are formed by C(n)mimBr, and freeze fracture transmission electron microscopy (FF-TEM) observations suggested the aggregates are spheres with a size much larger than traditional micelles. The sizes of the aggregates were further confirmed by dynamic light scattering (DLS) measurements.  相似文献

The rotational correlation time (tau(2R)) is determined for D(2)O (polar) and C(6)D(6) (apolar) in 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ([bmim][Cl]) and hexafluorophosphate ([bmim][PF(6)]) by measuring (2)H (D) nuclear magnetic resonance spin-lattice relaxation time (T(1)) in the temperature range from -20 to 110 degrees C. The tau(2R) ratio of water to benzene (tau(WB)) was used as a measure of solute-solvent attraction. tau(WB) is 0.73 and 0.52 in [bmim][Cl] and [bmim][PF(6)], respectively, whereas the molecular volume ratio is as small as 0.11. The slowdown of the water dynamics compared to the benzene dynamics in ionic liquids is interpreted by the Coulombic attractive interaction between the polar water molecule and the anion. As for the anion effect, the rotational dynamics of water solvated by Cl(-) is slower than that solvated by PF(6) (-), whereas the rotational dynamics of benzene is similar in the two ionic liquids. This is interpreted as an indication of the stronger solvation by the anion with a larger surface charge density. The slowdown of the water dynamics via Coulombic solvation is actually significant only at water concentrations lower than approximately 9 mol dm(-3) at room temperature, and it is indistinguishable at temperatures above approximately 100 degrees C. The quadrupolar coupling constants determined for D(2)O and C(6)D(6) in the ionic liquids were smaller by a factor of 2-3 than those in the pure liquid state.  相似文献

采用离子交换法,由1-丁基-3甲基咪唑氯盐(C4mimCl)和烷基硫酸钠合成了一系列无卤素的阴离子表面活性离子液体—1-丁基-3-甲基咪唑烷基硫酸酯[C4mim][CnH2n 1SO4](n=8,12,16),利用表面张力仪、稳态荧光光谱等手段考察了表面活性离子液体在水溶液表面及体相中的聚集行为,结果表明,与传统无机反离子相比,有机咪唑阳离子[C4mim] 作为反离子的离子液体型表面活性剂具有较高的表面活性,[C4mim] 产生的氢键引起的抑制分子规则排列的作用小于其促进分子有序排列的疏水作用。长烷基链的阴离子是界面膜及胶束的主要组成成分,阴离子疏水烷基碳链的增长虽然可促进胶束的形成,但却在一定程度上抑制[C4mim] 离子参与界面或胶束的形成;阴离子所带烷基链越长,越不利于阳离子[C4mim]+参与界面膜或胶束的形成,界面膜或胶束中表面活性剂排布越松散,即界面张力越大,体系中胶束聚集数较小。  相似文献

The values of partial molar volume (PMV) of ionic liquid, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate were determined in twelve n-donor solvents and compared with the known values of PMVs of lithium and magnesium perchlorates in the same solvents. The proportionality in the change in the molar volumes of these salts and the predominant contribution of anion solvation were observed.
