We propose and simulate a novel full-duplex radio-over-fiber system using a single light source at central station (CS). The scheme is employed to generate 60-GHz optical millimeter wave at CS for down-link transmission while the same optical carrier is reused at base station for up-link connection. There is no additional laser source for the upstream data generation in the base station. The bidirectional full-duplex 2.5 Gb/s data are successfully transmitted over 40 km standard single-mode fiber (SMF). The power penalty for the down-link data after transmission over 40 km SMF is less than 0.6 dB, while for the up-link data, the power penalty after transmission over 40 km SMF is neglected. This system shows good performance over long-distance delivery and has important applicable value in high radio frequency (RF) sector and multi-channel full-duplex system.  相似文献

In this paper, a fiber optic communication system has been employed using co-existing 10 G/2.5 G asymmetric gigabit passive optical network (XG-PON) architecture. In this system, bidirectional optical fiber has been used for upstream and downstream data transmission. The system performance has been investigated for non-return-to-zero (NRZ) and return-to-zero (RZ) data formats operating at varying bit rates by varying the length of the fiber for analyzing the feasibility of this co-existence. The results have been compared for NRZ and RZ formats for upstream and downstream data in terms of Q value and eye opening. It is observed that RZ modulation format is superior as compared to conventional NRZ format and the faithful transmission of signal has been carried up to 90 km at 1577 nm for downstream and 140 km at 1270 nm for upstream.  相似文献

We proposed and demonstrated a bidirectional SCM-WDM PON using a reflective filter and cyclic AWG where up/downlink data could be provided using a single optical source. In the proposed scheme, the signal for downstream was modulated by a single CW laser diode and remodulated in the optical network unit as an upstream, the proposed WDM-PON scheme can offer the SCM signal for broadcasting service. In this paper, 1 Gb/s signals both for up- and downstream were demonstrated in 10 km bidirectional optical fiber link.  相似文献

In this study, a bidirectional 60 GHz RoF systems based on four-wave mixing (FWM) in semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) is proposed. Two key techniques are included in such a scheme, namely, generation of 60 GHz modulating signals and distribution of 60 GHz local oscillator. The analytical model is theoretically analyzed and then confirmed by numerical simulations. Results of this study demonstrate that such a scheme can offer realistic solutions to support future mobile broad-band applications.  相似文献

A type of high birefringence dual-core photonic crystal fibers (DC-PCFs) with a central row of elliptical air holes have been proposed. The transverse electric field vector distributions of the two modes are evaluated, the birefringence or coupling length with the different parameters is numerically analyzed based on finite-element method. The numerical results show values for the birefringence of 8.247 × 10−3 (for wavelength, λ = 1.5 μm and lattice length, Λ = 1.3 μm), and for the coupling lengths about 3.1 mm and 2.6 mm (λ = 1.5 μm and Λ = 1.5 μm) to modes of x and y polarized, respectively. With the increasing of the air-filling fraction in proposed DC-PCF, the coupling length becomes longer and the birefringence becomes higher.  相似文献

We quantify the error statistics and patterning effects in a 5 × 40 Gbit/s WDM RZ-OOK SMF/DCF fibre link using hybrid Raman/EDFA amplification. By extensive use of a numerical model, we determine how the error statistics change with the transmission distance. This knowledge is used as a basis for a constrained coding technique in order to improve the transmission error rate. We propose an adaptive constrained code for mitigation of the patterning effects and demonstrate that this approach can substantially reduce the bit error rate (BER) even for very large values of the channel BER (BER > 10− 1). The proposed technique can be used in combination with forward error correction schemes (FEC) to extend the range of channel BERs that an FEC scheme is effective over.  相似文献

An improved 4H–SiC power MESFET with double source field plates (DSFP) for high-power applications is proposed (DSFP-MESFET). The DSFP structure significantly modifies the electric field in the drift layer. The influence of the DSFP structure on saturation current, breakdown voltage (Vb), and small-signal characteristics of the DSFP-MESFET were studied by numerical device simulation. The Vb of 359 V is obtained for the DSFP-MESFET compared to 301 V of the conventional source field plate MESFET (LSFP-MESFET). Hence, the maximum output power density of 24.7 and 21.8 W/mm are achieved for the DSFP-MESFET and LSFP-MESFET, respectively, which means 13% improvement for the proposed device. Also, the cut-off frequency (fT) of 24.5 and the maximum oscillation frequency (fmax) of 89.1 GHz for the 4H–SiC DSFP-MESFET are obtained compared to 23.1 and 85.3 GHz for that of the LSFP-MESFET structure, respectively. The DSFP-MESFET shows a superior maximum stable gain (MSG) exceeding 23.3 dB at 3.1 GHz, which is presenting the potential of the proposed device for high-power operations.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a full-duplex radio-over-fiber system incorporating both optical millimeter-wave (mm-wave) generation and wavelength reuse for uplink connection. The optical double sidebands (DSB) signal is generated by using only one inexpensive broadband direct modulation laser (DML), to which a mixing RF signal is applied. An optical interleaver is then used to separate the first-order optical sidebands from the optical carrier of optical DSB signal. The separated first-order optical sidebands are beat to generate mm-wave signal that has double the frequency of the RF drive signal, while the separated optical carrier is reused as light source to remodulate uplink signal. Both detailed theoretical analysis and experiments to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed system are presented. Experiment result shows that the bidirectional 2.5 Gb/s data can be successfully transmitted over 40 km standard single-mode fiber (SSMF) with less than 2 dB power penalty.  相似文献

Ab initio density functional theory, using the B3LYP hybrid functional with all-electron basis sets, has been applied to the adsorption of H on the (0 0 0 1) surface of wurtzite GaN. For bulk GaN, good agreement is obtained with photoemission and X-ray emission data for the valence band and for the Ga 3d and N 2s shallow core levels. A band gap of Eg = 4.14 eV is computed vs the experimental value (at 0 K) of 3.50 eV. A simple model, consisting of a (2 × 2) structure with 3/4-monolayer (ML) of adsorbed H, is found to yield a density of states in poor agreement with photoemission data for H adsorbed on surfaces prepared by ion bombardment and annealing. A new model, consisting of co-adsorbed Ga (1/4 ML) and H (1/2 ML), is proposed to account for these data.  相似文献

A new two-dimensional (2-D) optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) scheme to increase the achievable system capacity is proposed. The code exhibits good cross-correlation property time and wavelength shift. Performances are analyzed on code size and correlation properties affecting two important system parameters, bit error rate (BER) as a function of cardinality generated and optical power transmission requirement. The proposed system can effectively suppress phase-induced intensity noise (PIIN) and has multi-access interference (MAI) cancellation property. Results in a good agreement indicate that 2-D modified double weight (MDW) offers 163.7% and 336.2% larger cardinality compare to 2-D perfect difference code (PDC) and 2-D modified quadratic congruence (MQC) code. By increasing spatial code (N) and keeps similar code length system performance can be further optimized. 2-D MDW (M = 45, N = 18) accommodates 252.2% and 18.3% cardinality increment and low effective transmitted power (Psr) at −17.9 dBm, compare to 2-D MDW (M = 247, N = 3) and (M = 84, N = 9) at 10−9 BER error floor. The architecture of the spectral/spatial MDW OCDMA system with property of MAI cancellation is presented.  相似文献

Lung diseases, such as acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), are closely associated with altered lung elastic properties. Pulmonary function testing and imaging are routinely performed for evaluating lung diseases. However, lung compliance, a measure of lung elastic properties, is rarely used in clinic, because it is invasive and provides only a global and arguably biased estimate of lung elastic properties. Current ultrasound methods also cannot be used for imaging lungs because ultrasound cannot penetrate the lung tissue. In this paper, an ultrasound image guided and surface wave based method is proposed to measure regional lung surface wave speed and estimate lung elasticity noninvasively. The method described here was not explored before to the best knowledge of the authors. Experiments in an ex vivo pig lung and an in vivo human lung pilot study are reported. The surface wave speed is measured to be 1.83 ± 0.02 m/s at 100 Hz by ultrasound for the ex vivo pig lung at 3 mmHg pressure, which is validated by an optical measurement. An in vivo human lung pilot experiment measures the surface wave speed to be 2.41 ± 0.33 m/s for the 100 Hz sinusoidal wave at total lung capacity (TLC) and 0.99 ± 0.09 m/s at functional residual capacity (FRC). These values of wave speed fall well within the range of available literature.  相似文献

The linestrengths, self-pressure broadening and shifting coefficients have been measured for P3 (10)- R3 (12) lines in the second overtone band of hydrogen iodide. A dipole moment function in terms of the reduced nuclear displacement x = (R − Re)/Re is obtained using rotationless dipole matrix elements determined by the Herman-Wallis analysis of the (1, 2, 3 ← 0) HI bands: μ (x) = 0.4471(5) − 0.0770(2)x + 0.547(3)x2 − 1.93(2)x3, in a full agreement with the function proposed previously [J. Mol. Spectrosc. 223 (2004) 67]. A close match is demonstrated of the results of most recent relativistic calculations [Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys. 6 (2004) 3779] with the spectroscopically derived electric dipole parameters for HI. Line-mixing in the band head is observed, the self-pressure shifting and broadening coefficients for the (3 ← 0) band lines are determined.  相似文献

In this paper, a bidirectional Fiber To The Home (FTTH) is proposed where WDM transmitter is used as a seeding source with wavelength of 1550 nm. The system utilizes a Travelling wave Semiconductor Optical Amplifier (TSOA) with injection current 0.15A. 50 km range FTTH architecture is demonstrated for both downstream and upstream channels. We investigated the impact of different data rates on upstream and downstream data. The BER results show that the performance of our scheme is good for 10 Gbps system for downstream transmission as it accommodates 64 ONUs. From simulation results show the BER of 9.95e-009 is reported at 15 Gbps but only in case of 32 ONUs. Similarly, in case of upstream transmission, Q-Factor of 15.04 dB is reported for 32 ONUs. So this scheme is a practical solution to meet the data rate of the optical links simultaneously in tomorrow's PON access networks.  相似文献

Semi-elliptical dielectric-loaded surface plasmon-polariton waveguide (DLSPPW) is proposed. The mode effective index, field confinement, and propagation length of the fundamental mode supported by it are calculated at the telecom wavelength λ = 1.55 μm for different dimensions of a polymer ridge (with the refractive index of 1.535) placed on a gold film surface. The waveguide structure is found to exhibit 23% increase of the propagation length while showing similar confinement as compared to conventional rectangular DLSPPW when ridge thickness t < 450 nm (ridge width w = 600 nm) and ridge width w < 320 nm (ridge thickness t = 600 nm).  相似文献

The chemical behaviour of 3-hexyne on oxygen modified Ru(0 0 1) surfaces has been analysed under ultrahigh-vacuum, using reflection-absorption infrared spectroscopy (RAIRS). The effects of oxygen coverage, 3-hexyne exposure and adsorption temperature were studied. Two modified Ru(0 0 1) surfaces were prepared: Ru(0 0 1)-(2 × 2)-O and Ru(0 0 1)-(2 × 1)-O that correspond to oxygen coverages (θO) of 0.25 and 0.5 ML, respectively. The striking result is the direct bonding to an O atom when the modified surfaces are exposed to a very low dose (0.2 L) of 3-hexyne at low temperature (100 K). For θO = 0.25 ML, an unsaturated oxametallacycle [Ru-O-C(C2H5)C(C2H5)-Ru] is proposed, identified by RAIRS for the first time, through the νCC and νCO modes. Further decomposition at 110 K yields smaller oxygenated intermediates, such as acetyl [μ32(C,O)-CH3CO], co-adsorbed with a small amount of carbon monoxide and non-dissociated species. The temperature at which a fraction of molecules undergoes complete C-C and C-H bond breaking is thus much lower than on clean Ru(0 0 1). The ultimate decomposition product observed by RAIRS at 220 K is methylidyne [CH]. Another key observation was that the adsorption temperature is not determinant of the reaction route, contrarily to what occurs on clean Ru(0 0 1): even when 3- hexyne strikes the surface at a rather high temperature (220 K), the multiple bond does not break completely. For θO = 0.5 ML, a saturated oxametallacycle [Ru-O-CH(C2H5)-CH(C2H5)-Ru] is also proposed at 100 K, identified by the νasO-C-C (at 1043 cm−1) and νsO-C-C (at 897 cm−1) modes, showing that some decomposition with C-H bond breaking occurs. For this oxygen coverage, the reaction temperatures are lower, and the intermediate surface species are less stable.  相似文献

Bidirectional ellipsometry has been developed as a technique for distinguishing among various scattering features near surfaces. The polarized angular dependence of three-dimensional light-scattering by the nanoparticles on thin film wafer is calculated and measured. These calculations and measurements yield angular dependence of bidirectional ellipsometric parameters for out-of-plane light-scattering. The experimental data show good agreement with theoretical predictions for different nanoparticle diameters and thin film thicknesses when bidirectional ellipsometry was employed to measure nanoparticles (60 nm, 100 nm, and 200 nm) on Si wafers with different film thicknesses of 2 nm, 5 nm, and 10 nm. Not only are the diameters of the nanoparticles determined, but also the film thicknesses can be calculated and distinguished from the measurement results. Additionally, the results indicate that improved accuracy is possible for measurements of scattering features from nanoparticles and thin films.  相似文献

The room temperature (RT) chemisorption of three (iso, cis and trans) isomers of dichloroethylene (DCE) on Si(1 0 0)2 × 1 have been investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and temperature programmed desorption (TPD). Unlike ethylene, the lack of molecular desorption features in the TPD data effectively rules out the cycloaddition adsorption mechanism for all three isomers. XPS spectra show that cis- and trans-DCE adsorb dissociatively on the 2 × 1 surface in equal proportion as mono-σ bonded 2-chlorovinyl and di-σ bonded vinylene adspecies, which could be produced by dechlorination mechanisms involving the proposed tri-atom π-complex and diradical intermediates, respectively. Acetylene (m/z 26) evolution from 2-chlorovinyl adspecies at 590 K and vinylene at 750 K are also observed for both cis- and trans-DCE, further confirming the common adsorption mechanisms for these geometrical isomers and the relative stabilities of the adspecies. In contrast, only vinylidene adspecies is found for iso-DCE, which indicates that the high ionicity of the CCl2 group favours the diradical dechlorination mechanism. The single m/z 26 desorption peak for iso-DCE adspecies observed at a higher temperature (780 K) than cis and trans isomers is consistent with the higher adsorption energy of vinylidene than vinylene on Si(1 0 0) obtained in our ab initio calculations. The different relative locations of the Cl atoms in these isomers therefore play a crucial role in controlling the adsorption and thermal evolution on Si(1 0 0)2 × 1. The selective reactivity of the 2 × 1 surface towards these isomers can be used to generate vinylene or vinylidene templates from their corresponding adspecies.  相似文献

We have demonstrated a bidirectional reflective semiconductor optical amplifier (RSOA) based on wavelength division multiplexing ROF network utilizing an offset quadrature differential phase shift keying (OQPSK) signal for down-link and an on-off keying (OOK) signal re-modulated for up-link. A 50 km range colorless WDM-ROF without dispersion compensation was demonstrated for both 1 Gbit/s downstream and upstream signals. The BER performance of our scheme shows that our scheme is a practical solution to meet the data rate and cost-efficient of the optical links simultaneously in tomorrow's ROF access networks.  相似文献

The performance of one-dimensional (1D) coupled cavities photonic crystal (PC) filters has been analyzed by finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) simulation. It is shown that the addition of tapered Bragg mirrors at each side of the cavities, to create near-Gaussian field profiles for the cavity modes, results in the prediction of near flat-top passband filters with high out-of-band rejection ratio and near unity transmission. The tapered structures suppress the vertical radiation loss to allow optimization of the number of mirror periods for the best filter response whilst guaranteeing high transmission. A critical coupling condition (k = 2Lout/Lin = 1) for flat-top responses in doubly coupled cavities filters is proposed in the tapered structures. An optimized filter for 100 GHz optical communication system are demonstrated with 1 dB bandwidth of 0.17 nm, roll-off of 0.6 dB/GHz, out-of-band signal rejection of 33 dB and transmission of 95%. Further improvement of roll-off and out-of-band rejection is demonstrated in a triply coupled cavities filter.  相似文献

We have performed the structural and statistical analysis of Yb/Si(1 1 1) and Eu/Si(1 1 1) surfaces in the submonolayer regime utilizing low-energy electron diffraction and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). The almost identical series of one-dimensional chain structures (e.g., 3 × 2/3 × 1, 5 × 1, 7 × 1, 9 × 1, and 2 × 1 phases) are found in order of increasing metal coverage for both adsorbed systems, however, only the Eu/Si system reveals the ‘√3’-like reconstruction before the 2 × 1 endpoint phase. The atomic models of chain structures are proposed and discussed. In particular, our results suggest the odd-order n×1 (n=5,7,9,…) intermediate reconstructions to incorporate the Seiwatz chains and honeycomb chains with the proportion of m:1, where . The statistical analysis of STM images is carried out to examine the correlation of atomic rows on Eu/Si and Yb/Si surfaces. It is found that Eu stabilizes more ordered row configuration compared to Yb, which can be explained in terms of indirect electronic interaction of atomic chains or/and different magnetic properties of adsorbed species.  相似文献
