Free Space Optics (FSO) is an emerging line-of-sight technology intending to provide last-mile solution to the network problem where fiber technology is not feasible. The use of Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) technology for FSO is inspired due to the demand for broadband communication. This technique has brought a revolution because the system data capacity is enhanced by simply adding more number of channels and reducing the channel spacing without having the need of more than one FSO link. By reducing the channel spacing to an appropriate level, Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) based FSO systems are also be attained and are reported by various research works. FSO finds applications in vast areas like backhaul networks for cellular communication, disaster recovery, LAN–LAN connectivity, high-definition TV, MAN-extension, video transmission, medicine industry and surveillance. However, its usage is limited due to the serious challenges of link vulnerability to weather and atmospheric turbulence-induced fading. This paper is based on a WDM-FSO system. An 8-channel WDM based FSO system is proposed and performance is evaluated on widely accepted modulation schemes under weak, moderate and strong turbulence conditions. Gamma–Gamma fading model is employed for atmospheric turbulence modelling. The system is simulated on OptiSystem 14.0.  相似文献

We present a free-space optical interconnect system capable of dynamic closed-loop optical alignment using a microlens scanner with a proportional integral and derivative controller. Electrostatic microlens scanners based on combdrive actuators are designed and characterized with vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs) for adaptive optical beam tracking in the midst of mechanical vibration noise. The microlens scanners are fabricated on silicon-on-insulator wafers with a bulk micromachining process using deep reactive ion etching. We demonstrate dynamic optical beam positioning with a 700 Hz bandwidth and a maximum noise reduction of approximately 40 dB. Eye diagrams with a 1 Gb/s modulation rate are presented to demonstrate the improved optical link in the presence of mechanical noise.  相似文献

In this Letter, we propose and demonstrate the concept of a free space optics-based parallel high-speed reconfigurable card-to-card interconnect architecture employing microelectromechanical systems (MEMS)-based steering mirror arrays in conjunction with VCSEL and photodiode arrays. A bit-error rate of ~10(-6) and a receiver sensitivity below -11.5 dBm are experimentally attained with a proof-of-concept 3×3 10 Gb/s reconfigurable card-to-card optical interconnect demonstrator.  相似文献

Bulk amorphous samples of Te-substituted Sn10Sb20Se70−X Te X (0≤X≤12) were prepared using a melt quenching technique. Calorimetric studies of the samples were performed using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and the glass transition temperature and crystallization temperature were evaluated from DSC scans. The glass transition temperature T g exhibits a sharp decrease for small Te substitution of X=2, thereafter increases with increase in Te content up to X=10, and then decreases for further Te substitution. The apparent activation energy for glass transition and the activation energy for crystallization were calculated using Kissinger, modified Kissinger, and Matusita equations. The change in glass transition temperature T g has been explained based on the bond formation energy of different heteropolar bonds. The optical band gap of thermally evaporated thin films of Sn10Sb20Se70−X Te X (0≤X≤12) was calculated from reflectance and transmittance data. The optical band gap variation with tellurium content exhibits a sharp decrease for an initial tellurium substitution of X=2 similar to that of the glass transition temperature and thereafter a peak is observed in optical band gap around X=4 composition.  相似文献

We investigate a family of radially polarized Pearcey–Gauss vortex beams(RPPGVBs), obtain the general propagation expressions of an RPPGVB, and study the intensity distribution, phase pattern, spin currents as well as the orbital currents when the RPPGVB propagates in free space. The focal plane and the intensity of the focal point can be adjusted by changing the position of the vortex and the scaling factors. We investigated the transient and steady-state processes of a probe field in an optical fiber. It is found that the nonlinear processes can be easily controlled via the coherent field and incoherent pumping field. The underlying mechanisms are much more practical than those in atomic systems, which may provide some possibilities for technological applications in optical-fiber communication.  相似文献

In this paper, the effect of various taper profiles on dispersion slope compensation in optical fiber links is studied. Theoretical and numerical investigation of the linear and nonlinear group delays of tapered fiber Bragg grating's (T-FBG) under strain is made. Calculation is performed using Matlab code based on solving the coupled mode equation using transfer matrix method. Our study shows that the linear tapered FBG profile provide the best result than the linear-exponential profile which can compensate up to 500 km. As result, the spectral characteristics of tapered grating allow them to be used efficiently in high bit rates WDM and long-haul optical communication systems for chromatic dispersion of single-mode fiber.  相似文献

Due to the similar physical and chemical properties, isotopes are usually hard to separate. On the other hand, the isotope shifts are very well separated in a high-resolution spectrum, making them possible to be addressed individually by lasers, thus separated. Here we report such an isotope separation experiment with Potassium atoms. The isotopes are independently optical pumped to the desired spin states, and then separated with a Stern–Gerlach scheme. A micro-capillary oven is used to collimate the atomic beam, and a Halbach-type magnet array is used to deflect the desired atoms. Finally, the 40K is enriched by two orders of magnitude. This magneto–optical combined method provides an effective way to separate isotopes and can be extended to other elements if the relevant optical pumping scheme is feasible.  相似文献

为解决低照度微弱信号探测的微光光学系统杂散光问题,研究了杂散光的原理和特性。利用光学系统建模软件LightTools对微光光学系统进行仿真建模,并开展杂散光分析。为减少杂散光,在物镜筒的筒壁加工消光螺纹,并针对不同形式的消光螺纹,开展了能量仿真模拟。仿真结果表明,采用螺距0.35 mm的消光螺纹,能够将杂散光系数从7%降低到4%。仿真分析结果与实验结果一致,为其他微弱信号探测光学系统在设计阶段对杂散光进行消除提供了指导。  相似文献

In this paper, the SRS-induced crosstalk has been evaluated in a SCM–WDM communication links at different modulation frequencies and transmission lengths for variety of fiber. Results show that SRS-induced crosstalk dominates at low frequency. As the dispersion and effective area of fiber (Aeff) decreases, initially the crosstalk remains high and then it decreases with increase in modulation frequency. The present work shows that out of five different types of fiber, standard single mode fiber (SMF) has minimum crosstalk (−78 to −38) dB, (−55 to −33) dB and (−46 to −34) dB at modulation frequencies, transmission lengths and optical powers. Dispersion compensation fiber (DCF) has maximum crosstalk (−60 to −12) dB, (−37 to −12) dB and (−27 to −12) dB at modulation frequencies and transmission lengths.  相似文献

In this paper, a simple label eraser employing Gaussian apodized fiber Bragg grating (FBG) for all optical label swapping (AOLS) networks is proposed. Relying on the analysis of the payload through multi-stage erasers, this kind of eraser significantly improves the cascadability in comparison with the traditional fiber-loop mirror (FLM) eraser. The influences of the residual labels on the intermediate swapping node labels through the eraser are also investigated. It is shown that the power penalty is only less 1 dB when the optical power ratio of residual label to the new label signal arrives at -8 dB. The influence is negligible due to the sharp notch filtering effect of the Gaussian apodized FBG.  相似文献

In this paper, we have presented a numerical analysis of the stability of optical bullets (2 + 1), or spatiotemporal solitons (2 + 1), in a planar waveguide with cubic–quintic nonlinearity. The optical spatiotemporal solitons are the result of the balance between the nonlinear parameters, of dispersion (dispersion length, L D) and diffraction (diffraction length, L d) with temporal and spatial auto-focusing behavior, respectively. With the objective of ensure the stability and preventing the collapse or the spreading of pulses, in this study we explore the cubic–quintic nonlinearity with the optical fields coupled by cross-phase modulation and considering several values for the non linear parameter α We have shown the existence of stable light bullets in planar waveguide with cubic–quintic nonlinearity through the study of spatiotemporal collisions of the light bullets.  相似文献

We consider the possibility of obtaining frequency–time distributions of signals by means of the cross Wigner–Ville transform in which the reference (test) signal is designed in accordance with the structure of the studied signal. It is shown that because of the complex nature of the Wigner–Ville distributions (WVDs) P(t, ω), information on the frequency–time characteristics of studied signals can be obtained by analyzing the modulus of the distribution |P(t, ω)|, as well as by the real Re[P(t, ω)] and imaginary Im[P(t, ω)] parts of the WVD. Their analysis by the method of selected sections permits one to disclose in more detail the spectral–time content of processed signals and thereby increase the frequency–time resolution. The efficiency of the proposed technique was verified by numerical modeling and in work with acoustic signals received by a mobile receiver from a fixed transmitter.  相似文献

We study the existence and stability of solitons forming in PT–symmetric optical lattices with spatially periodic modulation of the local strength of the nonlinear media. We found that the spatial modulation of the nonlinearity significantly affects the stability of solitons in PT–symmetric optical lattices. With the decrease of the strength of nonlinear refractive index modulation, the soliton's stability domain increases, whereas with the increase of the period of nonlinear refractive index modulation, the corresponding soliton's stability range narrows. In addition, we also investigate the influence of variation of the amplitude of the linear PT–symmetric lattice potential on soliton dynamics, in the presence of spatially periodic modulation of nonlinearity.  相似文献

In this study, the V-I transmission matrix formalism (V-I method) is proposed to analyze the spectrum characteristics of the uniform fiber Bragg grating (FBG)-based acousto--opfic modulators (UFBG-AOM). The simulation results demon- strate that both the amplitude of the acoustically induced strain and the frequency of the acoustic wave (AW) have an effect on the spectrum. Additionally, the wavelength spacing between the primary reflectivity peak and the secondary reflectivity peak is proportional to the acoustic frequency with the ratio 0.1425 nm/MHz. Meanwhile, we compare the amount of calculation. For the FBG whose period is M, the calculation of the V-I method is 4 × (2M-l) in addition/subtraction, 8 × (2M - 1) in multiply/division and 2M in exponent arithmetic, which is almost a quarter of the multi-film method and transfer matrix (TM) method. The detailed analysis indicates that, compared with the conventional multi-film method and transfer matrix (TM) method, the V-I method is faster and less complex.  相似文献
