This paper summarizes an extension of differential calculus to a mutational calculus for maps from one metric space to another. The simple idea is to replace half-lines allowing to define difference quotients of maps and their various limits in the case of vector space by transitions with which we can also define differential quotients of a map. Their various limits are called mutations of a map. Many results of differential calculus and set-valued analysis, including the Inverse Function Theorem, do not really rely on the linear structure and can be adapted to the nonlinear case of metric spaces and exploited. Furthermore, the concept of differential equation can be extended tomutational equation governing the evolution in metric spaces. Basic Theorems as the Nagumo Theorem, the Cauchy-Lipschitz Theorem, the Center Manifold Theorem and the second Lyapunov Method hold true for mutational equations.This work was motivated by evolution equations of tubes in visual servoing on one hand, mathematical morphology on the other, when the metric spaces are power spaces. Differential inclusions of a retarded type with a small real parameter >0 in part of the derivatives are considered. We prove upper semicontinuity of the map set of solutions at =0+ inC[0, 1]×(L 2(0, 1)–weak) topology. In case of constant delay lower semicontinuity inC[0, 1]×(L 1(0, 1)–strong) is shown.  相似文献

We examine continuous descent methods for the minimization of Lipschitzian functions defined on a general Banach space. We establish several convergence theorems for those methods which are generated by regular vector fields. Since the complement of the set of regular vector fields is -porous, we conclude that our results apply to most vector fields in the sense of Baires categories.  相似文献

Rådström's embedding theorem states that the nonempty compact convex subsets of a normed vector space can be identified with points of another normed vector space such that the embedding map is additive, positively homogeneous, and isometric. In the present paper, extensions of Rådström's embedding theorem are proven which provide additional information on the embedding space. These results include those of Hörmander who proved a similar embedding theorem for the nonempty closed bounded convex subsets of a Hausdorff locally convex vector space. In contrast to Hörmander's approach via support functionals, all embedding theorems of the present paper are proven by a refinement of Rådström's original method which is constructive and does not rely on Zorn's lemma. This paper also includes a brief discussion of some actual or potential applications of embedding theorems for classes of convex sets in probability theory, mathematical economics, interval mathematics, and related areas.  相似文献

Summary In [4] a central limit theorem for the number of vertices of the convex hull of a uniform sample from the interior of a convex polygon is derived. This is done by approximating the process of vertices of the convex hull by the process of extreme points of a Poisson point process and by considering the latter process of extreme points as a Markov process (for a particular parametrization). We show that this method can also be applied to derive limit theorems for the boundary length and for the area of the convex hull. This extents results of Rényi and Sulanke (1963) and Buchta (1984), and shows that the boundary length and the area have a strikingly different probabilistic behavior.  相似文献

Given a functional differential equation with a discontinuity, a construction of its extension in the shape of a functional differential inclusion is offered. This construction can be regarded as a generalization of the famous Filippov approach to study ordinary differential equations with discontinuities. Some basic properties of the solutions of the introduced functional differential inclusions are studied. In this paper we report new results on the regularity of optimal controls for dynamic optimization problems with functional inequality state constraints, a convex time-dependent control constraint and a coercive cost function. Recently, it has been shown that the linear independence condition on active state constraints, present in the earlier literature, can be replaced by a less restrictive, positive linear independence condition, that requires linear independence merely with respect to non-negative weighting parameters, provided the control constraint set is independent of the time variable. We show that, if the control constraint set, regarded as a time-dependent multifunction, is merely Lipschitz continuous with respect to the time variable, then optimal controls can fail to be Lipschitz continuous. In these circumstances, however, a weaker Hölder continuity-like regularity property can be established. On the other hand, Lipschitz continuity of optimal controls is guaranteed for time-varying control sets under a positive linear independence hypothesis, when the control constraint sets are described, at each time, by a finite collection of functional inequalities.  相似文献

This paper describes the quality of convergence to an infinitely divisible law relative to free multiplicative convolution. We show that convergence in distribution for products of identically distributed and infinitesimal free random variables implies superconvergence of their probability densities to the density of the limit law. Superconvergence to the marginal law of free multiplicative Brownian motion at a specified time is also studied. In the unitary case, the superconvergence to free Brownian motion and that to the Haar measure are shown to be uniform over the entire unit circle, implying further a free entropic limit theorem and a universality result for unitary free Lévy processes. Finally, the method of proofs on the positive half-line gives rise to a new multiplicative Boolean to free Bercovici–Pata bijection.  相似文献

The concept of equi-outer semicontinuity allows us to relate the pointwise and the graphical convergence of set-valued-mappings. One of the main results is a compactness criterion that extends the classical Arzelà-Ascolì theorem for continuous functions to this new setting; it also leads to the exploration of the notion of continuous convergence. Equi-lower semicontinuity of functions is related to the outer semicontinuity of epigraphical mappings. In this paper, we prove sufficient conditions for controllability and strong controllability in terms of the Mordukhovich subdifferential for two classes of differential inclusions. The first one is the class of sub-Lipschitz multivalued functions introduced by Loewen-Rockafellar (1994) [10]. The second one, introduced recently by Clarke (2005) [18], is the class of multivalued functions which are pseudo-Lipschitz and satisfy the so-called tempered growth condition. To do this, we establish an error bound result in terms of the Mordukhovich subdifferential outside Asplund spaces.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to the study of differential inclusions, particularly discontinuous perturbed sweeping processes in the infinite-dimensional setting. On the one hand, the sets involved are assumed to be prox-regular and to have a variation given by a function which is of bounded variation and right continuous. On the other hand, the perturbation satisfies a linear growth condition with respect to a fixed compact subset. Finally, the case where the sets move in an absolutely continuous way is recovered as a consequence.  相似文献

We consider weak solutions of second order nonlinear elliptic systems of divergence type under subquadratic growth conditions. Via the method of -harmonic approximation we give a characterization of regular points up to the boundary which extends known results from the quadratic and superquadratic case.
