A new proof of the mean field bounds for magnetizations is presented. It applies to any single-component spin system which allows GHS inequality, and to anN-vector model forN 3, and to anN-solid sphere model for all values ofN, provided that the interactions are ferromagnetic and translation invariant.  相似文献

The Gaussian inequality is proven for multicomponent rotators with negative correlations between two spin components. In the case of one-component systems, the Gaussian inequality is shown to be a consequence of Lebowitz' inequality. For multicomponent models, the Gaussian inequality implies that the decay rate of the truncated correlation (or Schwinger) functions is dominated by that of the two-point function. Applied to field theory, these inequalities give information on the absence of bound states in the (1 2 + 1 2)2 model.  相似文献

I give a rigorous proof of the high-temperature Josephson inequalitydv 2–, following the original ideas of Josephson. The proof is applicable to a class of models including the ferromagnetic Ising model and the 4 lattice field theory.Research supported in part by NSF Grant PHY 78-23952.  相似文献

I prove a new correlation inequality for a class ofN-component classical ferromagnets (1N4). This inequality implies that the correlation functions decay exponentially and the spontaneous magnetization is zero, above the mean-field critical temperature.  相似文献

Correlation inequalities are proven for spin systems with non-purely-ferromagnetic interactions possessing a certain symmetry. These inequalities generalize well-known inequalities of Griffiths, Ginibre, Lebowitz, Schrader, Messager-Miracle-Sole, and Percus.  相似文献

The thermodynamic equivalence of the large-n limit of then-vector model in a random external field and the corresponding disordered spherical model is proved. An analytic expression for the free energy and a phase diagram of the large-n limit of then-vector model with random uniaxial anisotropy are obtained by rigorous argument. The ferromagnetic order in the large-n limit is proved to be stable against the switching on of an arbitrarily small random anisotropy.  相似文献

We investigate correlation inequalities for Ising ferromagnets with continuous spins, giving a simple unified derivation of inequalities of Griffiths, Ginibre, Percus, Lebowitz, and Ellis and Monroe. The single-spin measure and Hamiltonian for which an inequality may be proved become more restricted as the inequality becomes more complex. However, all results hold for a model with ferromagnetic pair interactions, positive (nonuniform) external field, and single-spin measure eitherv() = [1/(l + 1)] x f=0/l (–l +2j +) (spinl/2) ordv() = exp [–P()]d, whereP is an even polynomial all of whose coefficients must be positive except the quadratic, which is arbitrary. The Lebowitz correlation inequality is a corollary of the Ellis-Monroe inequality. As an application, we generalize the method of van Beijeren to establish a sharp phase interface at low temperature in nearest neighbor ferromagnets of at least three dimensions with arbitrary (symmetric) single-spin measure.Supported in part by the National Science Foundation under Grants MPS 73-05037 and MPS 75-20638. We establish the FKG correlation inequality for the Euclidean scalar Yukawa2 quantum field model and, when the Fermi mass is zero, for pseudoscalar Yukawa2. To do so we approximate the quantum field model by a lattice spin system and show that the FKG inequality for this system follows from a positivity condition on the fundamental solution of the Euclidean Dirac equation with external field. We prove this positivity condition by applying the Vekua-Bers theory of generalized analytic functions.Research partially supported by the National Research Council of Canada.Alfred P. A variety of rigorous inequalities for critical exponents is proved. Most notable is the low-temperature Josephson inequalitydv +2 2–. Others are 1 1 +v, 1 1 , 1,d 1 + 1/ (for d),dv, 3 + (for d), 4 , and 2m 2m+2 (form 2). The hypotheses vary; all inequalities are true for the spin-1/2 Ising model with nearest-neighbor ferromagnetic pair interactions.NSF Predoctoral Fellow (1976–1979). We present a detailed theoretical analysis on the possibilities and conditions for negative permeability and negative refraction occuring in the magnetic materials with both pronounced magnetic and dielectric responses to electromagnetic waves. The results indicate that the permeability is always positive for $\de=(2q+0.5)\pi$ ($\de$ is the initial phase difference of magnetic components $h_{x}$ and $h_{y }$ of incident electromagnetic wave, $q$ is integer), which means that it is difficult to realize negative refraction. However, for $\de=2q\pi, \de=(2q+1)\pi$, or $\de=(2q-0.5)\pi$, the negative permeability occurs at some range of free procession frequency, which means that the refraction can become negative under certain conditions. Further analysis reveals that for general positive permittivity there are various opportunities for realizing the negative refraction provided that some requirements are met. One concludes also that the refractive index for $\de=2q\pi$ case is similar to $\de=(2q+1)\pi$. The only difference between two cases of $\de=2q\pi$ and $\de=(2q+1)\pi$ is that the $x$-direction for $\de=2q\pi$ corresponds to the $y$-direction for $\de=(2q+1)\pi$, and the $y$-direction for $\de=2q\pi$ corresponds to the $x$-direction for $\de=(2q+1)\pi$. The results are valuable for designing and analysing the complex negative refraction of magnetic materials.  相似文献

The existence of a spontaneous magnetization in the three-dimensional Ising model in a weak random magnetic field (RFIM) is investgated. Following Imry and Ma, we consider the energy change, E, from the fully aligned ferromagnetic state caused by flipping all the spins inside a connected surface, . It is proved rigorously that with high probability, E is positive forall enclosing the origin. Under the unproven assumption that the expectation value of the spin at one site is weakly correlated with the random fields at far away sites (which is true if surfaces within surfaces can be ignored) it follows that the three-dimensional RFIM has a spontaneous magnetization at low temperatures. The proof works for all dimensions greater than two, providing support for the conjecture that two is the lower critical dimension.Work supported in part by NSF grant No. DMR 8100417.  相似文献

Proofs of Bell’s theorem and the data analysis used to show its violation have commonly assumed a spatially stationary underlying process. However, it has been shown recently that the appropriate Bell’s inequality holds identically for cross correlations of three or four lists of ±l’s, independently of statistical assumptions. When data consistent with its derivation are analyzed without imposition of the stationarity assumption, the resulting correlations satisfy the Bell inequality.  相似文献

The interaction of competing agents is described by classical game theory. It is now well known that this can be extended to the quantum domain, where agents obey the rules of quantum mechanics. This is of emerging interest for exploring quantum foundations, quantum protocols, quantum auctions, quantum cryptography, and the dynamics of quantum cryptocurrency, for example. In this paper, we investigate two-player games in which a strategy pair can exist as a Nash equilibrium when the games obey the rules of quantum mechanics. Using a generalized Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen (EPR) setting for two-player quantum games, and considering a particular strategy pair, we identify sets of games for which the pair can exist as a Nash equilibrium only when Bell's inequality is violated. We thus determine specific games for which the Nash inequality becomes equivalent to Bell's inequality for the considered strategy pair.  相似文献

Two models of one-dimensional fluids of associating hard rods in an arbitrary external field are investigated. In the first model particles can only form dimers, while in the second model, which has been solved previously by Percus, aggregates of any size coexist. In both cases the grand canonical potential and the external potential are found exactly as functionals of the density. It is shown that Wertheim's thermodynamic perturbation theory of polymerization provides a straightforward route to the exact solution by expanding the functional space to include more density parameters. This suggests that Wertheim's theory should be used also for studying the structure (and not only the thermo-dynamics) of real associating fluids.  相似文献

A modification is given of Luttinger's one-dimensional model of interacting fermions to incorporate both Fermi surfaces using one physical type of particle. The system is solved in the presence of an arbitrary external field, with linear response and pair correlation functions readily computed. These constitute an explicit realization of a relation associated with the random phase approximation.  相似文献

We obtain new properties of general d-dimensional lattice ferromagnetic spin systems with nearest neighbor interactions in the high-temperature region (1). Each model is characterized by a single-site a priori spin distribution, taken to be even. We state our results in terms of the parameter =s 4–3s 22, where s k denotes the kth moment of the a priori distribution. Associated with the model is a lattice quantum field theory which is known to contain particles. We show that for >0, small, there exists a bound state with mass below the two-particle threshold. The existence of the bound state has implications for the decay of correlations, i.e., the 4-point functions decay at a slower rate than twice that of the 2-point function. These results are obtained using a lattice version of the Bethe–Salpeter equation. The existence results generalize to N-component models with rotationally invariant a priori spin distributions.  相似文献

The external field required to produce a given density pattern is obtained explicitly for a classical fluid of hard rods. All direct correlation functions are shown to be of finite range in all pairs of variables. The one-sided factors of the pair direct correlation are also found to be of finite range.Supported in part by U.S. ERDA, Contract No. E(11-1)-3077.  相似文献

We examine the energy density produced by a state vector which is the superposition of three single electron states in the Dirac field in the four-dimensional Minkowski spacetime. We derive the conditions on which the energy density can be negative. We then show that the energy density satisfies two quantum inequalities in the ultrarelativistic limit.  相似文献
