Transformations of 4,5-Substituted (4S,5S)-2,2-Dimethyl-1,3-dioxolanes

(4S,5S)-4,5-Bis(hydroxymethyl)-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolane treated with trifluoromethanesulfonyl chloride in pyridine undergoes tandem substitution of one hydroxy group by a triflate group, and the other by pyridinium moiety. In neutral solvents the (4S,5S)-4,5-bis(hydroxymethyl)-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolane dilithium salt reacts with trifluoromethanesulfonyl chloride affording both triflates and chlorides and also suffers a cleavage of the dioxolane ring followed by transformations of acyclic products. A triflate cationic complex rhodium cyclooctadiene (4S,5S)-2,3-dihydroxy-1,4-bis(dimethylamino)-2,3-O-isopropylidenebutane was prepared and used as catalyst for hydrogenation of -acetamidocinnamic and itaconic acids.     

New Chiral Diamines of the Dioxolane Series: (+)-(4S,5S)-2,2-Dimethyl-4,5-bis(diphenylaminomethyl)- 1,3-dioxolane and (+)-(4S,5S)-2,2-Dimethyl-4,5-bis(methyl- aminomethyl)-1,3-dioxolane

The reaction of sodium diphenylamide with 2,2-dimethyl-4,5-bis(tosyloxymethyl)-1,3-dioxolane gave (+)-(4S,5S)-2,2-dimethyl-4,5-bis(diphenylaminomethyl)-1,3-dioxolane, which was brought into complex formation with cobalt chloride. Treatment of 2,2-dimethyl-4,5-bis(tosyloxymethyl)-1,3-dioxolane with sodium N-methylanilide resulted in cleavage of the SÄO bond in the p-toluenesulfonate moiety with formation of N-methyl-N-phenyl-p-toluenesulfonamide and 4,5-bis(hydroxymethyl)-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolane disodium salt. Diethyl (4R,5R)-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolane-4,5-dicarboxylate reacted with methylamine to give the corresponding dicarboxamide which was reduced with lithium aluminum hydride to (4S,5S)-2,2-dimethyl-4,5-bis(methylaminomethyl)-1,3-dioxolane having chiral carbon and nitrogen atoms.     

N-苄基-3(S)-邻苯二甲酰亚胺基-4(S)-[4(S)-2,2-二甲基-1,3-二氧环戊-4-基]-2-氧吖丁啶的合成

以L-抗坏血酸(1)为原料,经3步反应制得(S)-缩异丙氧叉甘油醛(4).该手性醛与苄胺缩合制得相应的手性亚胺(5).甘氨酸经保护后制成酰氯,在有机碱作用下首先生成不稳定的烯酮(8),继与手性亚胺5迅速进行[2+2]环加成反应,合成标题化合物N-苄基-3(S)-邻苯二甲酰亚胺基-4(S)-[4(S)-2,2-二甲基-1,3-二氧环戊-4-基]-2-氧吖丁啶.由于环加成的面向立体选择性容易控制,由此所得产物的光学纯度和化学收率均较高

A Convenient Synthesis of Chiral,Non-Racemic [4aS,8aR]-5,5,8a-Trimethyl Octahydro-2,2-(1,3-Dioxolane)-Naphthalene

(-)-(4aS,8aR)-5,5-8a-trimethyl-trans-decaline 1 was prepared in a stereoespecific synthesis of 4 steps and 38% yield. The key-step involves an asymmetric Robinson annulation via Michael addition of chiral imine.     

2,2-Dimethyl-5-(5-r-2-furfurylidene)-1,3-dioxane-4,6-diones

2,2-Dimethyl-5-(5-methyl-2-furfurylidene)-1,3-dioxane-4,6-dione crystals were subjected to an x-ray diffraction study. Synthesis of Dialkoxydimethylsilanes and 2,2-Dimethyl-1,3-dioxa- 1-Silacyclo Compounds

In the presence of iodine, magnesium reacts with alcohols to give magnesium alkoxides, which are treated with octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane to produce dialkoxydimethylsilanes. Similarly, magnesium reacts with 1,3, 1,4 and 1,5 diols and then with octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane, producing 2, 2-dimethyl-1, 3-dioxa-2-silacyclo compounds.

(1R,5S)-(+)-Nopinone of High Enantiomeric Purity

Commercial β-pinene of 87% ee can be upgraded to the 98plus;% ee level by simple treatment with silver perchlorate. A solid complex is obtained whose formation is more rapid when two like enantiomers are involved. Simple dissolution of this precipitate in water releases the enantioenriched hydrocarbon from which (+)-nopinone of high enantiomeric purity is obtained via ozonolysis.

The reaction of 2-formylthiophenes with Meldrum's acid gave the corresponding thenylidenedioxanediones, which, in contrast to the furfurylidene derivatives, have an s-trans conformation of the mutual orientation of the thiophene ring and the exocyclic double bond. An improved synthesis of (4S,5S)-2,2-dimethyl-4-phenyl-1,3-dioxan-5-amine

The title compound is prepared in 78% yield using an improved one-pot procedure which does not require final purification.     

Synthesis of 2,2′-(adamantylene-1,3)-diethanoic acids

Via direct oxidative addition of 1,1-dichloroethylene to adamantane or 1,3-dimethyladamantane one obtains diethanoic acids of the adamantane series, which are useful in themselves or for preparation of other functional derivatives.
