In the present paper, the analytical solution for a radially piezoelectric functionally graded rotating hollow shaft is presented. The variation of material properties is assumed to follow a power law along the radial direction of the shaft. Two resulting fully coupled differential equations in terms of the displacement and electric potential are solved directly. Numerical results for different shaft geometries with different profiles of inhomogeneity are also graphically displayed.  相似文献

Exact solutions are obtained for transient torsio- nal responses of a finitely long, functionally graded hollow cylinder under three different end conditions, i.e. free-free, free-fixed and fixed-fixed. The cylinder with its external surface fixed is subjected to a dynamic shearing stress at the internal surface. The material properties are assumed to vary in the radial direction in a power law form, while keep invariant in the axial direction. With expansion in the axial direction in terms of trigonometric series, the governing equations for the unknown functions about the radial coordinate r and time t are deduced. By applying the variable substitution technique, the superposition method and the separation of variables consecutively, series-form solutions of the equations are obtained. Natural frequencies and the transient torsional responses are finally discussed for a functionally graded finite hollow cylinder.  相似文献

Based on the generalized England-Spencer plate theory, the equilibrium of a transversely isotropic functionally graded plate containing an elastic inclusion is studied. The general solutions of the governing equations are expressed by four analytic functions α(ζ), β(ζ), φ(ζ), and ψ(ζ) when no transverse forces are acting on the surfaces of the plate. Axisymmetric problems of a functionally graded circular plate and an infinite func-tionally graded plate containing a circular hole subject to loads applied on the cylindrical boundaries of the plate are firstly investigated. On this basis, the three-dimensional (3D) elasticity solutions are then obtained for a functionally graded infinite plate containing an elastic circular inclusion. When the material is degenerated into the homogeneous one, the present elasticity solutions are exactly the same as the ones obtained based on the plane stress elasticity, thus validating the present analysis in a certain sense.  相似文献

Analytical studies on electromagnetoelastic behaviors are presented for the functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) solid cylinder and sphere placed in a uniform magnetic field and subjected to the external pressure and electric loading. When the mechanical, electric and magnetic properties of the material obey an identical power law in the radial direction, the exact displacements, stresses, electric potentials and perturbations of magnetic field vector in the FGPM solid cylinder and sphere are obtained by using the infinitesimal theory of electromagnetoelasticity. Numerical examples also show the significant influence of material inhomogeneity. It is interesting to note that selecting a specific value of inhomogeneity parameter β can optimize the electromagnetoelastic responses, which will be of particular importance in modern engineering designs. The differential equations governing transfer and stiffness matrices and acoustic impedance for a functionally graded generally anisotropic magneto-electro-elastic medium have been obtained. It is shown that the transfer matrix satisfies a linear 1st order matrix differential equation, while the stiffness matrix satisfies a nonlinear Riccati equation. For a thin nonhomogeneous layer, approximate solutions with different levels of accuracy have been formulated in the form of a transfer matrix using a geometrical integration in the form of a Magnus expansion. This integration method preserves qualitative features of the exact solution of the differential equation, in particular energy conservation. The wave propagation solution for a thick layer or a multilayered structure of inhomogeneous layers is obtained recursively from the thin layer solutions. Since the transfer matrix solution becomes computationally unstable with increase of frequency or layer thickness, we reformulate the solution in the form of a stable stiffness-matrix solution which is obtained from the relation of the stiffness matrices to the transfer matrices. Using an efficient recursive algorithm, the stiffness matrices of the thin nonhomogeneous layer are combined to obtain the total stiffness matrix for an arbitrary functionally graded multilayered system. It is shown that the round-off error for the stiffness-matrix recursive algorithm is higher than that for the transfer matrices. To optimize the recursive procedure, a computationally stable hybrid method is proposed which first starts the recursive computation with the transfer matrices and then, as the thickness increases, transits to the stiffness matrix recursive algorithm. Numerical results show this solution to be stable and efficient. As an application example, we calculate the surface wave velocity dispersion for a functionally graded coating on a semispace.  相似文献

The aim of this work is to present an analytical solution to reduce the stress concentration factor (SCF) around a circular hole in an isotropic homogeneous plate subjected to far-field uniaxial loading. In this paper the elastic response of an inhomogeneous annular ring made of functionally graded material (FGM), inserted around a hole of a homogeneous plate, is studied. By assuming that Young’s modulus varies in the radial direction with power law and that Poisson’s ratio is constant, the governing differential equations for plane stress conditions are obtained. Using stress function a general solution in explicit closed form is presented and the SCF investigated to highlight the inhomogeneity effects. Furthermore, the explicit solution for an inner homogeneous ring, with different properties with respect to those of the plate, is explicitly obtained and numerical results are compared between homogeneous ring and FGM ring.  相似文献

A paper focuses on implementation of the sampling surfaces (SaS) method for the three-dimensional (3D) exact solutions for functionally graded (FG) piezoelectric laminated shells. According to this method, we introduce inside the nth layer In not equally spaced SaS parallel to the middle surface of the shell and choose displacements and electric potentials of these surfaces as basic shell variables. Such choice of unknowns yields, first, a very compact form of governing equations of the FG piezoelectric shell formulation and, second, allows the use of strain–displacement equations, which exactly represent rigid-body motions of the shell in any convected curvilinear coordinate system. It is worth noting that the SaS are located inside each layer at Chebyshev polynomial nodes that leads to a uniform convergence of the SaS method. As a result, the SaS method can be applied efficiently to 3D exact solutions of electroelasticity for FG piezoelectric cross-ply and angle-ply shells with a specified accuracy by using a sufficient number of SaS.  相似文献

The torsional impact response of a penny-shaped crack in an unbounded transversely isotropic solid is considered. The shear moduli are assumed to be functionally graded such that the mathematics is tractable. Laplace transform and Hankel transform are used to reduce the problem to solving a Fredholm integral equation. The crack tip stress fields are obtained. Investigated are the influence of material nonhomogeneity and orthotropy on the dynamic stress intensity factor. The peak value of the dynamic stress intensity factor can be suppressed by increasing the shear moduli's gradient and/or increasing the shear modulus in a direction perpendicular to the crack surface.  相似文献

In this research, thermal buckling of circular plates compose of functionally graded material (FGM) is considered. Equilibrium and stability equations of a FGM circular plate under thermal loads are derived, based on the higher order shear deformation plate theory (3rd order plate theory). Assuming that the material properties vary as a power form of the thickness coordinate variable z and using the variational method, the system of fundamental partial differential equations is established. A buckling analysis of a functionally graded circular plate (FGCP) under various types of thermal loads is carried out and the result are given in closed-form solutions. The results are compared with the critical buckling temperature obtained for FGCP based on first order (1st order plate theory) and classical plate theory (0 order plate theory) given in the literature. The study concludes that higher order shear deformation theory accurately predicts the behavior of FGCP, whereas the first order and classical plate theory overestimates buckling temperature.  相似文献

This paper presents the stress field of a screw dislocation in a medium graded in y-direction. The medium is exponentially graded. For such a graded material theories of elasticity as well as gradient elasticity are applied. By means of the stress function technique we found exact analytical solutions of the corresponding master equations. Using the stress field, the Peach–Koehler force is given. The axial symmetry of a screw dislocation is lost due to the gradation in the y-direction.  相似文献

In this paper closed-form expressions of the electroelastic field induced by a piezoelectric screw dislocation in a functionally graded piezoelectric plane and half-plane are derived. The material properties are assumed to vary exponentially along the x and y-directions. The solution for a screw dislocation in a functionally graded piezoelectric plane is obtained through introduction of two generalized stress functions. The solution for a screw dislocation in a functionally graded piezoelectric half-plane is derived by using the method of image. It is also found that the interaction between a piezoelectric screw dislocation and a circular insulating hole in the functionally graded piezoelectric material can be solved by using series expansion method.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the axisymmetric elastostatic problem related to the rotation of a rigid punch which is bonded to the surface of a nonhomogeneous half-space. The half-space is composed of an isotropic homogeneous coating in the form of layer, which is attached to the functionally graded half-space. The shear modulus of the FGM is assumed to vary in the direction of axis Oz normal to the boundary as μ1(z) = μ0(1 + αz)β, where μ0, α, β are positive constants. The punch undergoes rotation due to the action of the internal loads. By using Hankel's integral transforms, the mixed boundary value problem is reduced to dual integral equations, and next, to a Fredholm's integral equation of the second kind, which is solved numerically for the case of β = 2. The final results show the effect of non-homogeneity on the shear stresses and an unknown moment of punch rotation.  相似文献

Based on the first-order shear deformation plate theory with von Karman non-linearity, the non-linear axisymmetric and asymmetric behavior of functionally graded circular plates under transverse mechanical loading are investigated. Introducing a stress function and a potential function, the governing equations are uncoupled to form equations describing the interior and edge-zone problems of FG plates. This uncoupling is then used to conveniently present an analytical solution for the non-linear asymmetric deformation of an FG circular plate. A perturbation technique, in conjunction with Fourier series method to model the problem asymmetries, is used to obtain the solution for various clamped and simply supported boundary conditions. The material properties are graded through the plate thickness according to a power-law distribution of the volume fraction of the constituents. The results are verified by comparison with the existing results in the literature. The effects of non-linearity, material properties, boundary conditions, and boundary-layer phenomena on various response quantities in a solid circular plate are studied and discussed. It is found that linear analysis is inadequate for analysis of simply supported FG plates which are immovable in radial direction even in the small deflection range. Furthermore, the responses of FG materials under a positive load and a negative load of identical magnitude are not the same. It is observed that the boundary-layer width is approximately equal to the plate thickness with the boundary-layer effect in clamped FG plates being stronger than that in simply supported plates.  相似文献

Coupled thermoelasticity of functionally graded cylindrical shells   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The coupled thermoelastic response of a functionally graded circular cylindrical shell is studied. The coupled thermoelastic and the energy equations are simultaneously solved for a functionally graded axisymmetric cylindrical shell subjected to thermal shock load. A second-order shear deformation shell theory that accounts for the transverse shear strains and rotations is considered. Including the thermo-mechanical coupling and rotary inertia, a Galerkin finite element formulation in space domain and the Laplace transform in time domain are used to formulate the problem. The inverse Laplace transform is obtained using a numerical algorithm. The shell is graded through the thickness assuming a volume fraction of metal and ceramic, using a power law distribution. The results are validated with the known data in the literature.  相似文献

The plate theory of functionally graded materials suggested by Mian and Spencer is extended to analyze the cylindrical bending problem of a functionally graded rectangular plate subject to uniform load. The expansion formula for displacements is adopted. While keeping the assumption that the material parameters can vary along the thickness direction in an arbitrary fashion, this paper considers orthotropic materials rather than isotropic materials. In addition, the traction-free condition on the top surface is replaced with the condition of uniform load applied on the top surface. The plate theory for the particular case Of cylindrical bending is presented by considering an infinite extent in the y-direction. Effects of boundary conditions and material inhomogeneity on the static response of functionally graded plates are investigated through a numerical example.  相似文献

The problem of a transversely isotropic functionally graded material (FGM) plate welded with a circular inclusion is considered. The analysis starts with the generalized England-Spencer plate theory for transversely isotropic FGM plates, which expresses a three-dimensional (3D) general solution in terms of four analytic functions. Several analytical solutions are then obtained for an infinite FGM plate welded with a circular inclusion and subjected to the loads at infinity. Three different cases are considered, i.e., a rigid circular inclusion fixed in the space, a rigid circular inclusion rotating about the x-, y-, and z-axes, and an elastic circular inclusion with different material constants from the plate itself. The static responses of the plate and/or the inclusion are investigated through numerical examples.  相似文献

This paper deals with an analytical approach of the buckling behavior of a functionally graded circular cylindrical shell under axial pressure with external axial and circumferential stiffeners. The shell properties are assumed to vary continuously through the thickness direction. Fundamental relations and equilibrium and stability equations are derived using the third-order shear deformation theory. The resulting equations are employed to obtain the closed-form solution for the critical buckling loads. A simply supported boundary condition is considered for both edges of the shell. The comparison of the results of this study with those in the literature validates the present analysis. The effects of material composition (volume fraction exponent), of the number of stiffeners and of shell geometry parameters on the characteristics of the critical buckling load are described. The analytical results are compared and validated using the finite-element method. The results show that the inhomogeneity parameter, the geometry of the shell and the number of stiffeners considerably affect the critical buckling loads.  相似文献

Elastic solutions for axisymmetric rotating disks made of functionally graded material with variable thickness are presented. The material properties and disk thickness profile are assumed to be represented by two power-law distributions. In the case of hollow disk, based on the form of the power-law distribution for the mechanical properties of the constituent components and the thickness profile function, both analytical and semi-analytical solutions are given under free–free and fixed-free boundary conditions. For the solid disk, only semi-analytical solution is presented. The effects of the material grading index and the geometry of the disk on the stresses and displacements are investigated. It is found that a functionally graded rotating disk with parabolic or hyperbolic convergent thickness profile has smaller stresses and displacements compared with that of uniform thickness. It is seen that the maximum radial stress for the solid functionally graded disk with parabolic thickness profile is not at the centre like uniform thickness disk. Results of this paper suggest that a rotating functionally graded disk with parabolic concave or hyperbolic convergent thickness profile can be more efficient than the one with uniform thickness.  相似文献

In this work, a self-consistent constitutive framework is proposed to describe the behaviour of a generic three-layered system containing a functionally graded material (FGM) layer subjected to thermal loading. Analytical and semi-analytical solutions are obtained to describe the thermo-elastic and thermo-elastoplastic behaviour of a three-layered system consisting of a metallic and a ceramic layer joined together by an FGM layer of arbitrary composition profile. Solutions for the stress distributions in a generic FGM system subjected to arbitrary temperature transient conditions are presented. The homogenisation of the local elastoplastic FGM behaviour in terms of the properties of its individual phases is performed using a self-consistent approach. In this work, power-law strain hardening behaviour is assumed for the FGM metallic phase. The stress distributions within the FGM systems are compared with accurate numerical solutions obtained from finite element analyses and good agreement is found throughout. Solutions are also given for the critical temperature transients required for the onset of plastic deformation within the three-layered systems.  相似文献

Studied is the problem of a periodic array of cracks in a functionally graded piezoelectric strip bonded to a homogeneous piezoelectric material. The properties of the functionally graded piezoelectric strip, such as elastic modulus, piezoelectric constant and dielectric constant, are assumed in exponential forms and vary along the crack direction. The crack surface condition is assumed to be electrically impermeable or permeable. Integral transform and dislocation density functions are employed to reduce the problem to the solution of a system of singular integral equations. The effects of the periodic crack spacing, material constants and the geometry parameters on the stress intensity factor, the energy release ratio and the energy density factor are studied.  相似文献
