In an ongoing effort to understand the thermodynamic properties of proteins, solid-state heat capacities of poly(amino acid)s of all 20 naturally occurring amino acids and 4 copoly(amino acid)s have been previously reported on and were analyzed using our Advanced THermal Analysis System (ATHAS). We extend the heat capacities of poly(L-methionine) (PLMFT) and poly(L-phenylalanine) (PLPHEA) with new low temperature measurements from 10 to 340 K. In addition, analyses were performed on literature data of a first protein, zinc bovine insulin dimer C508H752O150N130S12Zn, using both the ATHAS empirical addition scheme and computation with an approximate vibrational spectrum for the protein. For the solid state, agreement with the measurement could be accomplished to ±1.6% for PLMET, ±3.5% for PLPHEA, and ±3.2% for insulin, linking the macroscopic heat capacity to its microscopic cause, the group and skeletal vibrational motion. For each polymer, one set of parameters, Θ1 and Θ3, of the Tarasov function representing the skeletal vibrational contribution to the heat capacity are obtained from a new optimization procedure [PLMET: 542 K and 83 K (number of skeletal vibrations Ns = 15); PLPHEA: 396 K and 67 K (Ns = 11); and insulin monomer: 599 K and 79 K (Ns = 628), respectively]. Enthalpy, entropy, and Gibbs free energy have been derived for the solid state. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Heat capacities in the solid state of four globular proteins (bovine β‐lactoglobulin, chicken lysozyme, ovalbumine, and horse myoglobin) and of the poly(amino acid) poly(L ‐tryptophan) have been determined using the Advanced THermal Analysis System (ATHAS). The experimental measurements were performed with adiabatic and differential scanning calorimetry over wide temperature ranges. The heat capacities were linked to an approximate vibrational spectrum by making use of known group vibrations and of a set of parameters, Θ1 and Θ3, of the Tarasov function for the skeletal vibrations. Good agreement was found between experiments and calculations with root mean square errors mostly within ±3%. The experimental data were analyzed also with an empirical addition scheme using the known data for poly(amino acid)s measured earlier. Based on this study, vibrational heat capacities can now be predicted for all proteins with an accuracy comparable to common experiments. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Low-temperature heat capacities of the compound Ni(C4H7O5)2·2H2O(S) have been measured with an auto- mated adiabatic calorimeter. A thermal decomposition or dehydration occurred in 350--369 K. The temperature, the enthalpy and entropy of the dehydration were determined to be (368.141 ±0.095) K, (18.809±0.088) kJ·mol ^-1 and (51.093±0.239) J·K^-1·mol^-1 respertively. The experimental values of the molar heat capacities in the temperature regions of 78-350 and 368-390 K were fitted to two polynomial equations of heat capacities (Cp,m) with the reduced temperatures (X), [X=f(T)], by a least squares method, respectively. The smoothed molar heat capacities and thermodynamic functions of the compound were calculated on the basis of the fitted polynomials. The smoothed values of the molar heat capacities and fundamental thermodynamic functions of the sample relative to the standard reference temperature 298.15 K were tabulated with an interval of 5 K.  相似文献

The possible noncovalent lone pair‐π/halogen bond (lp···π/HaB) complexes of perhalogenated unsaturated C2ClnF4?n (n = 0–4) molecules with four simple molecules containing oxygen or nitrogen as electron donor, formaldehyde (H2CO), dimethyl ether (DME), NH3, and trimethylamine (TMA), have been systematically examined at the M062X/aug‐cc‐pVTZ level. Natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis at the same level is used for understanding the electron density distributions of these complexes. The progressive introduction of Cl atom on C2ClnF4?n influences more on the lp···π complexes over the corresponding HaB ones. Within the scope of this study, gem‐C2Cl2F2 is the best partner molecule for lp···π interaction with the simple molecules, coupled with the greatest interaction energy (IE) and second‐order orbital interaction [E(2) value], whereas C2F4 is the poorest one. The C2Cl3F·H2CO and C2Cl4·H2CO complexes exhibit reverse lp···π bonding, while the Z/E‐C2Cl2F2·NH3, C2Cl3F·NH3 and C2Cl4·NH3 complexes perform half‐lp···π bonding according to the NBO analysis. The lp···π interaction involving the oxygen/nitrogen and the π‐hole of C2ClnF4?n overwhelms the HaB involving the oxygen/nitrogen and the σ‐hole of the Cl atom. The electron‐donating methyl groups contribute significantly to the two competitive interactions, therefore, DME and TMA engage stronger in the partner molecules than H2CO and NH3. Our theoretical study would be useful for future experimental investigation on noncovalent complexes. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

The title ligand, [1‐(2‐methoxyphenyl)‐3‐(4‐chlorophenyl)]triazene, H L ( 1 ), was prepared. In a reaction with Hg(NO3)2 it forms the complex [Hg(C26H22Cl2N6O2)], [Hg L 2] ( 2 ). Both compounds were characterized by means of X‐ray crystallography, CHN analysis, FT‐IR, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR spectroscopy. In the structure of compound 1 , two independent fragments are present in the unit cell. They exhibit trans arrangement about the –N=N– double bond. The dihedral angles between two benzene rings in both fragments are 4.36 and 18.79 Å, respectively. Non‐classic C–H ··· N hydrogen bonding and C–H ··· π interactions form a layer structure along the crystallographic ab plane [110]. In compound 2 , the HgII atom is hexacoordinated by two tridentate [1‐(2‐methoxyphenyl)‐3‐(4‐chlorophenyl)]triazenide ligands through a N2O2 set. In addition, in the structure of 2 , monomeric complexes are connected to each other by C–H ··· π stacking interactions, resulting in a 2D architecture. These C–H ··· π edge‐to‐face interactions are present with H ··· π distances of 3.156 and 3.027 Å. The results of studies of the stoichiometry and formation of complex 2 in methanol solution were found to support its solid state stoichiometry.  相似文献

The heat capacity of poly(vinyl methyl ether) (PVME) has been measured using adiabatic calorimetry and temperature‐modulated differential scanning calorimetry (TMDSC). The heat capacity of the solid and liquid states of amorphous PVME is reported from 5 to 360 K. The amorphous PVME has a glass transition at 248 K (?25 °C). Below the glass transition, the low‐temperature, experimental heat capacity of solid PVME is linked to the vibrational molecular motion. It can be approximated by a group vibration spectrum and a skeletal vibration spectrum. The skeletal vibrations were described by a general Tarasov equation with three Debye temperatures Θ1 = 647 K, Θ2 = Θ3 = 70 K, and nine skeletal modes. The calculated and experimental heat capacities agree to better than ±1.8% in the temperature range from 5 to 200 K. The experimental heat capacity of the liquid rubbery state of PVME is represented by Cp(liquid) = 72.36 + 0.136 T in J K?1 mol?1 and compared to estimated results from contributions of the same constituent groups of other polymers using the Advanced Thermal AnalysiS (ATHAS) Data Bank. The calculated solid and liquid heat capacities serve as baselines for the quantitative thermal analysis of amorphous PVME with different thermal histories. Also, knowing Cp of the solid and liquid, the integral thermodynamic functions of enthalpy, entropy, and free enthalpy of glassy and amorphous PVME are calculated with help of estimated parameters for the crystal. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The heat capacity of poly(trimethylene terephthalate) (PTT) has been measured using adiabatic calorimetry, standard differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and temperature-modulated differential scanning calorimetry (TMDSC). The heat capacities of the solid and liquid states of semicrystalline PTT are reported from 5 to 570 K. The semicrystalline PTT has a glass transition temperature of 331 K. Between 340 and 480 K, PTT can show exothermic ordering depending on the prior degree of crystallization. The melting endotherm of semicrystalline samples occurs between 480 and 505 K, with a typical onset temperature of 489 K (216°C). The heat of fusion of the semicrystalline samples is about 15 kJ mol−1. For 100% crystalline PTT the heat of fusion is estimated to be 30 ± 2 kJ mol−1. The heat capacity of solid PTT is linked to an approximate group vibrational spectrum and the Tarasov equation is used to estimate the heat capacity contribution due to skeletal vibrations (θ1 = 550.5 K and θ2 = θ3 = 51 K, Nskeletal = 19). The calculated and experimental heat capacities agree to better than ±3% between 5 and 300 K. The experimental heat capacities of liquid PTT can be expressed by: $ C^L_p(exp) $ = 211.6 + 0.434 T J K−1 mol−1 and compare to ±0.5% with estimates from the ATHAS data bank using contributions of other polymers with the same constituent groups. The glass transition temperature of the completely amorphous polymer is estimated to be 310–315 K with a ΔCp of about 94 J K−1 mol−1. Knowing Cp of the solid, liquid, and the transition parameters, the thermodynamic functions enthalpy, entropy, and Gibbs function were obtained. With these data one can compute for semicrystalline samples crystallinity changes with temperature, mobile amorphous fractions, and resolve the question of rigid-amorphous fractions.© 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The reaction of [1,3‐bis(2‐ethoxy)benzene]triazene, [ HL ], with Hg(SCN)2 and Hg(CH3COO)2, resulted in the formation of the complexes [Hg L (SCN)] ( 1 ) and [Hg L 2] · CH3OH ( 2 ). They were characterized by means of X‐ray crystallography, CHN analysis, FT‐IR, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR spectroscopy. The structure of compound 1 consists of two independent complexes in which the HgII atoms are stacked along the crystallographic a axis to form infinite chains. Each HgII atom is chelated by one L ligand and one SCN ligand, whereas in compound 2 , the HgII atom is surrounded by two L ligands. In addition, 1D chains formed by metal–π interactions are connected to each other by C–H ··· π stacking interactions in the structure of 1 , which results in a 2D architecture. An interesting feature of compound 2 is the presence of C–H ··· π edge‐to‐face interactions.  相似文献

The interactions between NH3, its methylated and chlorinated derivatives and CS2 are investigated by ab initio CCSD(T) and density functional BLYP‐D3 methods. The CCSD(T)/aug‐cc‐pVTZ calculated interaction energies of complexes characterized by the S···N chalcogen bonds range between ?1.71 and ?2.78 kcal mol?1. The S···N bonds are studied by atoms in molecules, natural bond orbital, and noncovalent interaction methods. The lack of correlation between the interaction energies of methylated amines complexes and the electrostatic potential results from the lone pair effect in aliphatic amines. Different structures of CS2 complexed with ammonia derivatives, stabilized by other than the S···N chalcogen bonds, are also predicted. These structures are characterized by interaction energies ranging between 1.15 and 3.46 kcal mol?1. The results show that the complexing ability of CS2 is not very high but this molecule is able to attack the electrophilic or nucleophilic sites of a guest molecule.  相似文献

The nature of the MoH···I bond in Cp2Mo(L)H···I‐C≡C‐R (L= H, CN, PPh2, C(CH3)3; R=NO2, Cl, Br, H, OH, CH3, NH2) was investigated using electrostatic potential analysis, topological analysis of the electron density, energy decomposition analysis and natural bond orbital analysis. The calculated results show that MoH···I interactions in the title complexes belong to halogen‐hydride bond, which is similar to halogen bonds, not hydrogen bonds. Different to the classical halogen bonds, the directionality of MoH···I bond is low; Although electrostatic interaction is dorminant, the orbital interactions also play important roles in this kind of halogen bond, and steric interactions are weak; the strength of H···I bond can tuned by the most positive electrostatic potential of the I atom. As the electron‐withdrawing ability of the R substituent in the alkyne increases, the electrostatic potential maximum of the I atom increases, which enhances the strength of the H···I halogen bond, as well as the electron transfer.  相似文献

We report here a substituent effect of diimines on the solid‐state assembly of interesting triangulo Pd(II) complexes, [(Pd(d‐t‐bpy))3(μJ3‐S)2][NO3]2 1 ·[NO3]2 and [(Pd(bpy))33‐S)2][ClO4]2 2 ·[ClO4]2 (d‐t‐bpy = 4,4′‐di‐tert‐butyl‐2,2′‐bipyridine, bpy = 2,2′‐bipyridine). 2 ·[ClO4]2 shows the intermolecular π···π interactions leading to the formation of one‐dimensional frameworks, whereas 1 ·[NO3]2 only shows the discrete structure in the solid state, featuring an interesting herring‐bone arrangement. The variation in structural motifs from 1 ·[NO3]2 to 2 ·[ClO4]2 is expected to be dominated by the substituent's steric hindrance for the diimine ligand. Thus, the crystal‐engineering approach has proved successful in the solid‐state packing due to a substituent's modification of the diimine ligand.  相似文献

The constant-pressure heat capacity Cp of poly(p-xylylene) (PPX) has been measured from 220 to 625 K by differential scanning calorimetry. The constant-volume heat capacities Cv of both, PPX and its isomer polystyrene (PS) have been interpreted in the light of literature data on full normal-mode calculations for PS and estimates from low-molecular-weight analogs for PPX for the 39 group vibrations. Nine skeletal vibrations were used in this discussion with characteristic temperatures θ1 and θ3 of 534.5 and 43.1 K for PS. It was also possible to calculate a heat capacity contribution of a phenylene group within a polymer chain. Single 48-vibration θ1 temperatures of 3230 K for PS and 2960 K for PPX are sufficient to describe Cv above 220 K. Below 140 K, PS heat capacity shows deviations from the Tarasov treatment.  相似文献

The novel ionic ozonide {[N(C4H9)4](O3)}4·4.75NH3 was synthesized by ion‐exchange reaction in liquid ammonia. The crystal structure was determined by single crystal diffraction at 100 K (monoclinic space group P21, a = 15.014(11) Å, b = 13.696(10) Å, c = 19.890(15) Å, β = 105.407(12)°, V = 3943(5) Å3, Z = 2). The structure consists of a packing of sandwich‐like dimeric ion pairs in which two ozonide anions are interspersed between two tetrabutylammonium cations. Ammonia molecules from the solvent are localized in cavities in the structure. They are involved in hydrogen bonding with the ozonide ions. The desolvated tetrabutylammonium ozonide forms stable solutions in dichloromethane which may open up novel possibilities of tapping into the synthetic potential of the ozonide ion.  相似文献

[60]Fullerenated poly(2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate)s containing 0.6–3.0 wt % C60 were synthesized. These polymers are soluble in methanol and N,N‐dimethylformamide (DMF). [60]Fullerenated poly(2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate)s with higher C60 contents are only sparingly soluble in DMF and virtually insoluble in other organic solvents. A loading of 1.2 wt % C60 in poly(2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate) does not greatly affect its miscibility with poly(N‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone), poly(1‐vinylimidazole), and poly(4‐vinylpyridine). © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The melt polycondensation reaction of the prepolymer prepared from N-(benzyloxycarbonyl)-L -aspartic acid anhydride (N-CBz-L -aspartic acid anhydride) and low molecular weight poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) using titanium isopropoxide (TIP) as a catalyst produced the new biodegradable poly(L -aspartic acid-co-PEG). This new copolymer had pendant amine functional groups along the polymer backbone chain. The optimal reaction conditions for the preparation of the prepolymer were obtained by using a 0.12 mol % of p-toluenesulfonic acid with PEG 200 for 48 h. The weight-average molecular weight of the prepolymer increased from 1,290 to 31,700 upon melt polycondensation for 6 h at 130°C under vacuum using 0.5 wt % TIP as a catalyst. The synthesized monomer, prepolymer, and copolymer were characterized by FTIR, 1H- and 13C-NMR, and UV spectrophotometers. Thermal properties of the prepolymer and the protected copolymer were measured by DSC. The glass transition temperature (Tg) of the prepolymer shifted to a significantly higher temperature with increasing molecular weight via melt polycondensation reaction, and no melting temperature was observed. The in vitro hydrolytic degradation of these poly(L -aspartic acid-co-PEG) was measured in terms of molecular weight loss at different times and pHs at 37°C. This pH-dependent molecular weight loss was due to a simple hydrolysis of the backbone ester linkages and was characterized by more rapid rates of hydrolysis at an alkaline pH. These new biodegradable poly(L -aspartic acid-co-PEG)s may have potential applications in the biomedical field. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci A: Polym Chem 36: 2949–2959, 1998  相似文献

A group of new, water-soluble poly(ether-urethane)s, derived from poly(ethylene glycol) and the amino acid L -lysine, provide pendent carboxylic acid groups along the polymer backbone at regular intervals. The carboxylic acid groups were utilized for the attachment of acrylate and methacrylate pendent chains (hydroxyethyl acrylate, hydroxyethyl methacrylate, aminoethyl methacrylate, and aminoethyl methacrylamide), leading to functionalized polymers. The pendent chains were attached via ester and/or amide bonds having different degrees of hydrolytic stability. The attachment reactions proceeded with high yields (up to 95%). The functionalized polymers were subsequently photopolymerized (UV irradiation) to obtain crosslinked hydrogels. Crosslinked membranes with the highest degree of mechanical strength were obtained when the crosslinking reaction was performed in dioxane with benzoin methyl ether (0.1 wt %) as the initiator. the crystallinity, thermomechanical properties, and hydrolytic stability of the crosslinked membranes were studied. All membranes were transparent and highly swellable (equilibrium water content: 64–88%). The tensile strength in the swollen state ranged from 0.15 to 1.09 MPa. Under physiological conditions (phosphate buffered water, 0.1M, pH 7.4, 37°C) the hydrolytic stability of the hydrogels varied depending on the bonds used in the attachment of the acrylate pendent chains: Hydrogels with hydroxyethyl acrylate pendent chains dissolved within 30 days, while hydrogels containing aminoethyl methacrylamide pendent chains remained unchanged throughout a 30 day period. Using high molecular weight FITC-dextrans as model compounds, complete release from the swollen hydrogels required between 60 and 150 h. Overall, the evaluation of poly(ethylene glycol)-lysine derived, photocrosslinked hydrogels indicated that these materials provide a range of potentially useful properties. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Two new transition metal(II) complexes [M(hdpa)2(N(CN)2)2] (M = Mn ( 1 ), Co ( 2 ); hdpa = 2, 2'‐dipyridylamine) have been prepared and characterized structurally and magnetically. Both compounds crystallize in the monoclinic space group C2/c. 1 and 2 are isotypic with the unit cell parameters a = 8.634(9), b = 13.541(14), c = 21.99(2) Å, β = 94.806(18)°, and V = 2562(5) Å3 for 1 , a = 8.617(3) Å, b = 13.629(5)Å, c = 21.598(8)Å, β = 94.593(6)°, and V = 2528.4(15)Å3 for 2 , and Z = 4 for both. According to X‐ray crystallographic studies, each metal(II) ion was six‐coordinated with four nitrogen atoms from two bidentate hdpa ligand and two nitrogen atoms from two N(CN) anions to form slightly distorted octahedrons. Adjacent complex molecules are connected by hydrogen bonds or π···π interactions to form three‐dimensional network. The IR and UV spectroscopy were measured and the magnetic behaviors were investigated.  相似文献

Addition of bulky C60 moiety, a powerful electron acceptor (EA = 2.6–2.8 eV), to the poly(p-bromostyrene)(PBS) by a novel organometallic reaction considerably changes the chemical and physical properties of this polymer. The product obtained is a “charm-bracelet” non-crosslinked brownish yellow polymer which is easily soluble in many common organic solvents, and has a single glass transition temperature [134.0°C vs. 83.2°C for poly(p-bromostyrene)], this being congruent with its chemical structure. Covalent attachment of C60 to the brominated polystyrene backbone is confirmed by a variety of techniques such as UV-VIS, FT-IR, TGA, DSC, SEM, ESR, GPC, and 13C-NMR. The results show that both the stereo-electronic effect and the steric hindrance of C60 have an important influence on the structure and physical properties of polymer. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

A silk‐like extensible poly(α,L ‐amino acid) fiber is created by self‐assembly of poly(α,L ‐lysine) and poly(α,L ‐glutamic acid) at their aqueous solutions' interface. Distinguishing features of the PLL/PLG fiber are the high extensibility and good stretch. Stretching after spinning changes this fiber to a rigid and strong one. The concept and the poly(α,L ‐amino acid) fibers themselves open doors for the production of new protein fibers which are more silk‐ and wool‐like.  相似文献
