The unimolecular fragmentations of [M + H]+ and [M – H]? ions from four 2-aryl-2-methyl-1,3-dithianes are described and clarified with the aid of deuterated derivatives. Comparison of the MIKE spectra of [M + H]+ species obtained under chemical ionization and fast atom bombardment (FAB) conditions reveals differences which are attributed to the different energetics involved in the two ionization processes. It is suggested that FAB is a ‘softer’ ionization technique but, at the same time, it provides, for the possibility of solvation, reaction sites not available in gas-phase protonation. [M – H]? species and anionic fragments thereof were generally not obtained under FAB(?) conditions. [M – H]? ions are readily produced in gas-phase reactions with OH? via proton abstraction from C(4) or C(5), and from the 2-methyl substituent; and they fragment according to several reaction pathways.  相似文献

The fast atom bombardment mass spectrometry of some crown ethers shows the formation of both [M + H]+ and [M ? H]+ ions, paralleling behaviour already observed using electron impact ionization. The study of these oily samples with and without a glycerol matrix, trifluoroacetic acid or alkali metal salts, suggests that the ionization process does not occur in the condensed phase, but in the selvedge region by gas-phase ion-molecule reactions in accordance with the ‘gas-phase explosion model’. Positive-ion chemical ionization experiments support this proposal.  相似文献

Mass-analysed ion kinetic energy spectrometry (MIKES) with collision-induced dissociation (CID) has been used to study the fragmentation processes of a series of deuterated 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) and deuterated 2,4,6-trinitrobenzylchloride (TNTCI) derivatives. Typical fragment ions observed in both groups were due to loss of OR′ (R′ = H or D) and NO. In TNT, additional fragment ibns are due to the loss of R2′O and 3NO2, whilst in TNTCI fragment ions are formed by the loss of OCI and R2′OCI. The TNTCI derivatives did not produce molecular ions. In chemical ionization (Cl) of both groups. MH+ ions were observed, with [M – OR′]+ fragments in TNT and [M – OCI]+ fragments in TNTCI. In negative chemical ionization (NCI) TNT derivatives produced M?′, [M–R′]?, [M–OR′]? and [M–NO]? ions, while TNTCI derivatives produced [M–R]?, [M–Cl]? and [M – NO2]? fragment ions without a molecular ion.  相似文献

The gas-phase H/D exchange of bradykinin [M + H]+, [M + Na]+, [M + 2H]2+, and [M + H + Na]2+ ions; des-Arg1-bradykinin, des-Arg9-bradykinin, and bradykinin fragment 2-7 [M + H]+ ions; and O-methylbradykinin [M + H]+ and [M + 2H]2+ ions with D2O have been examined by electrospray ionization Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry at 9.4 T. The different peptides vary widely in exchange rate and extent of deuterium incorporation. H/D exchange was slowest and deuterium incorporation was least for bradykinin [M + H]+, [M + H + Na]2+ and bradykinin methyl ester [M + 2H]2+ ions. In contrast, H/D exchange and extent of deuteration are higher for des-Arg1-bradykinin, des-Arg9-bradykinin, and bradykinin fragment 2-7 [M + H]+ ions; and highest for bradykinin [M + Na]+ and [M + 2H]2+, and O-methylbradykinin [M + H]+. Because the most likely site of protonation is the guanidino group of arginine, the above reactivity pattern strongly supports a zwitterion form for protonated gas-phase bradykinin.  相似文献

Thermospray (TSP) mass spectrometry has proved to be a useful technique for analysing various highly polar compounds. The use of a quadrupole mass spectrometer equipped with a thermospray/plasmaspray interface in the analysis of more than 30 monosaccharides and sugar derivatives is described. A 1:1 mixture of methanol or acetonitrile and 0.1 M aqueous ammonium acetate as eluent at 1 cm3 min?1 affords the best results. The correct setting of the capillary tip temperature and repeller voltage was fundamental for the ionization of carbohydrates. The/optimum values of these parameters were 240–250°C and 220–240 V, respectively. The thermospray mass spectra of most carbohydrates exhibit strong [M + NH4]+ ions which provide molecular mass information. The underivatized and derivatized monosaccharides could be grouped according to the presence or absence and the relative abundances of [M + NH4 ? H2O]+, [M + H]+ and [M + NH4]+ ions.  相似文献

The mass spectrometric fragmentation behaviour of pyridazine and four monosubstituted derivatives containing a pbenylalkyl side-chain (3- and 4-benizylpyridazine, 3- and 4-(2-pbenylethyl)pyridazine) was investigated. In the electron impact ionization mess spectra of the 3-substituted compounds abundant [M – H]+ peaks are observed. This allows a clear distinction between 3- and 4-substituted pyridazines, as the spectra of the latter isomers show only very weak [M – H]+ signals. The stability of [M – H]+ ions derived from 3-alkylpyridazines (deduced from only the very low abundance of further fragment ions) gives strong evidence for a cyclic structure of these ions. One fragmentation pathway typical of the parent pyridazine, the [M - N2] fragmentation, was not detectable with any of the phenylalkylpyridazines investigated. Instead, loss of HCN, H3CN+ and N2H+ was observed. An interesting fragmentation, observed with 3-(2-phenylethyl)pyridazine, is the loss of +CH3 from the molecular ion and also from the [M – H]+ ion.  相似文献

Under electron impact, 3-aryl-4-hydroxyisoquinolines form [M – H]+, [M – CO]+ and [M – H – CO]+ ions with a subsequent elimination of HCN or CH3CN. A cyclic structure for the [M – H]+ ion is suggested. The primary act of fragmentation of the corresponding methyle ether derivatives is the loss of CH3?, as well as H?; the further fragmentatio is similar to that described above. It has been established that the unusual [M – H]+, [M – OH]+ and [M – CH5?]+ ions are formed when 8 fragments. Fragmentation schemes for all compounds are proposed based upon high resolution mass spectra and deuterated analogues.  相似文献

The positive electron impact (EI) and isobutane chemical ionization (CI) mass spectra of six nitramine nitrates were studied with the aid of some accurate mass measurements. In the EI spectra, β fission relative to both the nitramine and nitrate ester is important. In the CI spectra a major ion occurs at [MH – 45]+ and was found to be mainly due to [M + 2H ? NO2]+. All of the compounds except N-(2 hydroxyethyl)-N-(2′,4′,6′-trinitrophenyl)nitramine nitrate gave an [MH]+ ion. The [MH – 45]+ ion in the isobutane CI mass spectra of tetryl is also due to [M + 2H ? NO2]+.  相似文献

Aminomonosaccharides (glucosamine, galactosamine, and mannosamine) in H2O and D2O were ionized by atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) and their fragmentation patterns were investigated to identify them. All the aminomonosaccharides showed the same fragment ions but their relative ion intensities were different. Major product ions generated in H2O were [M + H]+, [M + H – H2O]+, and [2M + H – 3H2O]+, while in D2O were [MD6 + D]+, [MD6 + D – D2O]+, and [2MD6 + D – D2O – 2HDO]+. At a high fragmentor voltage above 120 V, the relative ion intensities of the major product ions showed different trends according to the aminomonosaccharides. For the use of H2O as solvent and eluent, the order of the ion intensity ratio of [M + H – H2O]+/[2M + H – 3H2O]+ was galactosamine > mannosamine > glucosamine. When using D2O as solvent and eluent, the order of the ion intensity ratios of [MD6 + D – D2O]+/[MD6 + D]+ and [2MD6 + D – D2O – 2HDO]+/[MD6 + D]+ was mannosamine > galactosamine > glucosamine. It was found that glucosamine, galactosamine, and mannosamine could be distinguished by the specific trends of the major product ion ratios in H2O and D2O. Analysis of the isobutane chemical ionization mass spectra of hexenols, cyclohexenols and various syn/anti pairs of bicyclic and tricyclic homoallylic alcohols shows that: (i) the spectra of the allylic alcohols are dominated by [M + H – H2O]+ and [M + C4H9–H2O]+ ions and contain traces of [M + H]+ ions; (ii) [M + H]+ ions are prominent in the spectra of acyclic and certain cyclic homoallylic alcohols; and (iii) [M + H]+ ions dominate the spectra of other acyclic unsaturated alcohols. The [M + H]+ ions may result from either: (a) protonation of the hydroxyl group, followed by a very rapid intramolecular proton transfer from the protonated hydroxyl group to the carbon–carbon double bond or internal solvation of the protonated hydroxyl group by the carbon–carbon double bond; and/or (b) direct protonation of the carbon–carbon double bond with significant internal solvation of the resulting carbocation by the hydroxyl group, which may lead to carbon–oxygen bond formation to give a protonated cyclic ether. The consequences of placing various geometric constraints on the possible intramolecular interactions between the hydroxyl group and the carbon–carbon double bond in unsaturated alcohols are explored.  相似文献

Unusual ionization behavior was observed with novel antineoplastic curcumin analogues during the positive ion mode of matrix‐assisted laser desorption ionization (MALDI) and dopant‐free atmospheric pressure photoionization (APPI). The tested compounds produced an unusual significant peak designated as [M ? H]+ ion along with the expected [M + H]+ species. In contrast, electrospray ionization, atmospheric pressure chemical ionization and the dopant‐mediated APPI (dopant‐APPI) showed only the expected [M + H]+ peak. The [M ? H]+ ion was detected with all evaluated curcumin analogues including phosphoramidates, secondary amines, amides and mixed amines/amides. Our experiments revealed that photon energy triggers the ionization of the curcumin analogues even in the absence of any ionization enhancer such as matrix, solvent or dopant. The possible mechanisms for the formation of both [M ? H]+ and [M + H]+ ions are discussed in this paper. In particular, three proposed mechanisms for the formation of [M ? H]+ were evaluated. The first mechanism involves the loss of H2 from the protonated [M + H]+ species. The other two mechanisms include hydrogen transfer from the analyte radical cation or hydride abstraction from the neutral analyte molecule. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The detection of anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) is one of the most important topics in doping control analysis. Gas chromatography coupled to (tandem) mass spectrometry (GC–MS(/MS)) with electron ionization and liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry have been traditionally applied for this purpose. However, both approaches still have important limitations, and, therefore, detection of all AAS is currently afforded by the combination of these strategies. Alternative ionization techniques can minimize these drawbacks and help in the implementation of a single method for the detection of AAS. In the present work, a new atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) source commercialized for gas chromatography coupled to a quadrupole time‐of‐flight analyzer has been tested to evaluate the ionization of 60 model AAS. Underivatized and trimethylsylil (TMS)‐derivatized compounds have been investigated. The use of GC–APCI–MS allowed for the ionization of all AAS assayed irrespective of their structure. The presence of water in the source as modifier promoted the formation of protonated molecules ([M+H]+), becoming the base peak of the spectrum for the majority of studied compounds. Under these conditions, [M+H]+, [M+H‐H2O]+ and [M+H‐2·H2O]+ for underivatized AAS and [M+H]+, [M+H‐TMSOH]+ and [M+H‐2·TMSOH]+ for TMS‐derivatized AAS were observed as main ions in the spectra. The formed ions preserve the intact steroid skeleton, and, therefore, they might be used as specific precursors in MS/MS‐based methods. Additionally, a relationship between the relative abundance of these ions and the AAS structure has been established. This relationship might be useful in the structural elucidation of unknown metabolites. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The fragmentations under electron impact of 5-phenyl-1,4-benzodiazepin-2-ones are investigated with the aid of high resolution, metastable decompositions and deuterium labeling. Based on our data a mechanism for the formation of the [M – H]+ ion is proposed. It is shown that the [M – CHO]+ ion is probably formed by two different pathways. Data on two minor fragment ions give support to the structure proposed for the [M – CHO]+ ion.  相似文献

Geometrically isomeric dicarboxylic acids, such as maleic and fumaric acid and their methyl homologues, and the isomeric phthalic acids, have been investigated using fast atom bombardment, field ionization and field desorption mass spectrometry. The most intense peak in the positive ion fast atom bombardment spectra corresponds with the [M + H]+ ion. This ion, when derived from the E -acids, tragments either by successive loss of water and carbon monoxide or by elimination of carbon dioxide. In the case of the Z -acids only elimination of water from the [M + H]+ ions is observed to occur to a significant extent. The same is true for the [M + H]+ ions of the isomeric phthalic acids, that is the [M + H] ions derived from iso- and terephthalic acid exhibit more fragmentation than those of phthalic acid. All these acids undergo much less fragmentation upon field ionization, where not only abundant [M + H]+ ions, but also abundant [M] ions, are observed. Upon field desorption only the [M + H]+ and [M + Na]+ ions are observed under the measuring conditions. Negative ion fast atom bombardment spectra of the acids mentioned have also been recorded. In addition to the most abundant [M? H]? ions relatively intense peaks are observed, which correspond with the [M]?˙ ions. The fragmentations observed for these ions appear to be quite different from those reported in an earlier electron impact study and in a recent atmospheric pressure ionization investigation.  相似文献

High field asymmetric waveform ion mobility spectrometry (FAIMS) provides atmospheric pressure, room temperature, low-resolution separation of gas-phase ions. The FAIMS analyzer acts as an ion filter that can continuously transmit one type of ion, independent of m/z. The combination of FAIMS with electrospray ionization and mass spectrometry (ESI-FAIMS-MS) is a powerful technique and is used in this study to investigate the cluster ions of leucine enkephalin (YGGFL). Separation by FAIMS of leucine enkephalin ions having the same m/z (m/z 556.5), [M + H]+ and [2M + 2H]2+, was observed. In addition, four complex ions of leucine enkephalin, [2M + H]+, [4M + 2H]2+, [6M + 3H]3+, and [8M + 4H]4+, all having m/z 1112, were shown to be separated in FAIMS. Fragmentation of ions as the result of harsh conditions within the mass spectrometer interface (FAIMS-MS) was shown to provide similar information to that obtained from MS/MS experiments in conventional ESI-MS.  相似文献

The effect of two completely different mobile phase compositions, reversed-phase acetonitrile-water + ammonium acetate and normal-phase cyclohexane, were compared in filament-on thermospray liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) for the determination of selected chlorinated herbicides such as chloroatrazines and chlorinated phenoxyacetic acids. By using acetonitrile-water + 0.05 M ammonium acetate mixtures in positive ion mode thermospray LC-MS, the chloroatrazine herbicides showed the acetonitrile adduct ion [M + (CH3CN)H]+ as the base peak, whereas the chlorinated phenoxyacetic acids showed no signal. In contrast, when cyclohexane, which is reported for the first time as an eluent in the thermospray technique, was used as the mobile phase the chlorinated phenoxyacetic acid herbicides exhibited [M – H]+, [M – Cl]+ and M+˙ as the main ions. Negative ion mode thermospray LC-MS showed [M – H]? as the base peak for the chloroatrazines in the different mobile phases, whereas the chlorinated phenoxyacetic acids exhibited [M + H]?, [M + Cl]? or [M – HCl]? as the base peaks in cyclohexane and [M + acetate]? in acetonitrile-water-ammonium acetate.  相似文献

The N2 negative ion chemical ionization (NICI) mass spectra of aniline, aminonaphthalenes, aminobiphenyls and aminoanthracenes show an unexpected addition appearing at [M + 11]. This addition is also observed in the N2 positive chemical ionization (PCI) mass spectra. An ion at [M – 15]? is found in the NICI spectra of aminoaromatics such as aniline, 1- and 2-aminonaphthalene and 1- and 2-aminoanthracene. Ion formation was studied using labeled reagents, variation of ion source pressure and temperature and examination of ion chromatograms. These experiments indicate that the [M + 11], [M – 15] and [M + 11] ions result from the ionization of analytes altered by surface-assisted reactions. Experiments with 15N2, [15N] aniline, [2,3,4,5,6-2H5] aniline and [13C6] aniline show that the [M + 11] ion corresponds to [M + N – 3H]. The added nitrogen originates from the N2 buffer gas and the addition occurs with loss of one ring and two amino group hydrogens. Fragmentation patterns in the N2 PCI mass spectrum of aniline suggest that the neutral product of the surface-assisted reaction is 1,4-dicyanobuta-1,3-diene. Experiments with diamino-substituted aromatics show analogous reactions resulting in the formation of [M – 4H] ions for aromatics with ortho-amino groups. Experiments with methylsubstituted aminoaromatics indicate that unsubstituted sites ortho to the amino group facilitate nitrogen addition, and that methyl groups provide additional sites for nitrogen addition.  相似文献

The metastable ions [M]2+, [M – H]2+· and [M – H2]2+ from malononitrile fragment by loss of [CH]+, [C]+· and [C]+·, respectively. The reaction of the molecular ion involves the methylene and nitrile carbon atoms in the statistical probability ratio, while that of [M – H]2+· involves exclusively the nitrile carbon and that of [M ? H2]2+ involves an approximately equal contribution, from both sources. It is suggested that the metastable molecular ion fragments through a bipyrimidal intermediate.  相似文献

The mass spectrometric behaviour of benzo-[o]-1,4,7,10,13-pentaoxacycloheptadecane-14,17-dione (1), 3,6,9,12,15-pentaoxabicyclo[15.3.1]heneicosa-1(21),17,19-triene-2,16-dione (2) and 1,15-dioxo-2,5,8,11,14-pentaoxa[15](1,4)benzenophane (3) has been studied in detail with the aid of linked scans, mass-analysed ion kinetic energy spectra, collisionally activated decomposition experiments, exact mass measurements and different ionization techniques (electron impact, positive and negative ion chemical ionization, charge exchange, electron attachment). The very low abundance of molecular ions and the presence of abundant [M + H]+ and [M – H]+ ions under electron impact conditions indicate the presence of acidic and basic sites in the molecular ions and neutral molecules, respectively.  相似文献

The structures of the major adduct ions formed in ammonia chemical ionization of thirteen aliphatic and aromatic ketones have been studied by mass analysed ion kinetic energy spectrometry. The [M+NH3+H]+ ion is shown to have a protonated carbinolamine structure, [M+2NH3+H]+ to be a protonated carbinolamine with hydrogen-bonded ammonia and [2M+NH3+H]+ to be, at least in part, a protonated carbinolamine with hydrogen-bonded ketone. These structures may imply a nucleophilic addition of ammonia at the carbonyl of the ketone-ammonium ion complex. An unusual hydroxy migration is seen in the internal rearrangement of the [2M+NH3+H]+ ion leading to the formation of a protonated imine.  相似文献
