It is shown that, if the “new neutrino” implied by the Reactor Antineutrino Anomaly exists and is in fact characterized by the suggested relatively high mass squared difference and reasonably large mixing angle, it should clearly reveal itself in the oscillometry measurements. For a judicious neutrino source the “new oscillation length” L14 is expected shorter than 1.5 m. Thus the needed measurements can be implemented with a gaseous spherical TPC of modest dimensions with a very good energy and position resolution, detecting nuclear recoils following the coherent neutrino-nucleus elastic scattering. The best candidates for oscillometry, yielding both monochromatic neutrinos as well as antineutrinos, are discussed. A sensitivity in the mixing angle θ14, sin2(2θ14)=0.1 (99%), can be reached after a few months of data handling.  相似文献

We present and discuss differential cross sections for the 128,130Te isotopes, contents of the COBRA double beta decay detector. The response of these isotopes to energy spectra of supernova neutrinos is explored by convoluting the original results, calculated in the context of the quasi-particle random phase approximation (QRPA) using realistic two-body forces, with a two-parameter Fermi-Dirac (FD) and a Power-Law (PL) neutrino energy distributions.  相似文献

The number of fixed mutations accumulated in an evolving population often displays a variance that is significantly larger than the mean (the overdispersed molecular clock). By examining a generic evolutionary process on a neutral network of high-fitness genotypes, we establish a formalism for computing all cumulants of the full probability distribution of accumulated mutations in terms of graph properties of the neutral network, and use the formalism to prove overdispersion of the molecular clock. We further show that significant overdispersion arises naturally in evolution when the neutral network is highly sparse, exhibits large global fluctuations in neutrality, and small local fluctuations in neutrality. The results are also relevant for elucidating aspects of neutral network topology from empirical measurements of the substitution process.  相似文献

We formulate the data analysis problem for the detection of the Newtonian coalescing-binary signal by a network of laser interferometric gravitational wave detectors that have arbitrary orientations, but are located at the same site. We use the maximum likelihood method for optimizing the detection problem. We show that for networks comprising of up to three detectors, the optimal statistic is just the matched network-filter. Alternatively, it is simply a linear combination of the signal-to-noise ratios of the individual detectors. This statistic, therefore, can be interpreted as the signal-to-noise ratio of the network. The overall sensitivity of the network is shown to increase roughly as the square-root of the number of detectors in the network. We further show that these results continue to hold even for the restricted post-Newtonian filters. Finally, our formalism is general enough to be extended, in a straightforward way, to address the problem of detection of such waves from other sources by some other types of detectors, eg., bars or spheres, or even by networks of spatially well-separated detectors.  相似文献

The direct detection of gravitational waves will provide valuable astrophysical information about many celestial objects. Also, it will be an important test to general relativity and other theories of gravitation. The gravitational wave detector SCHENBERG has recently undergone its first test run. It is expected to have its first scientific run soon. In this work the data analysis system of this spherical, resonant mass detector is tested through the simulation of the detection of gravitational waves generated during the inspiralling phase of a binary system. It is shown from the simulated data that it is not necessary to have all six transducers operational in order to determine the source’s direction and the wave’s amplitudes.  相似文献

Two kinds of general consequences of the ΔS=0 weak hadron neutral current independent of a gauge model are presented. Firstly are results which depend on the quark parton model. These involve bounds among neutrino inclusive cross-section and a bound onQ(Z, N) in terms of these inclusive cross-sections. Secondly are results which are independent of the quark-parton model and depend only on the SU(3) structure of the most general ΔS=0 neutral current. These tests of isopin and speciallyU-spin properties of the current are given forv+Nv+hadron+anything,v+Nv+baryon+meson ande + e →baryon+anti-baryon. In addition some conjectures are made with regard to the semi-inclusive neutrino-reactions using the quark parton model.  相似文献

We report the initial results from a search for bursts of gravitational radiation by a network of five cryogenic resonant detectors during 1997 and 1998. This is the first significant search with more than two detectors observing simultaneously. No gravitational wave burst was detected. The false alarm rate was lower than 1 per 10(4) yr when three or more detectors were operating simultaneously. The typical threshold was H approximately 4x10(-21) Hz-1 on the Fourier component at approximately 10(3) Hz of the gravitational wave strain amplitude. New upper limits for amplitude and rate of gravitational wave bursts have been set.  相似文献

In this paper, cellular automata are used to detect the nuclear tracks in the track images captured from the surface of CR-39 detectors. Parameters of the automaton as the states, neighborhood, rules and quality parameters are defined optimally for the track image data set under analysis. The presented method is a supervised computational algorithm which comprises a rule definition phase as the learning procedure. Parameter optimization is also performed to adapt the algorithm to the data set used.  相似文献

The eddy current in a small conducting spherical particle located in the field of a plane electromagnetic wave is calculated. The frequencies under study are bounded above by frequencies of the near IR region. The calculation is performed within the kinetic approach for a comparatively small particle (~10 nm) in which the skin effect can be neglected; the ratio of the particle size to the electron mean free path is assumed to be arbitrary. The reflection of the charge carriers from the sample boundary is assumed to be purely diffuse. The effect of temperature on the current density in the particle is studied.  相似文献

We examine a class of gauge theories based on U(1)×SU(2)×G allowing for an arbitrary number of gauge bosons, while retaining the lowq 2 four fermion interaction of the standard model. Measurable consequences fore + e ?μ + μ ? ande + e ?e + e ? at presently available as well as LEP energies are presented. 研究了在托卡马克装置中中性束注入时快离子自举电流的产生。利用快离子分布函数在两小增量δ=ρp/a (ρp是极向拉莫尔半径,a是小半径)和δ*=τB/τs(τB是俘获粒子反弹周期,τs是慢化时间)下进行展开的方法求解漂移动力学方程;给出了快离子自举电流的一般表达式。计算了圆截面大纵横比托卡马克中快离子自举电流密度分布和总的快离子自举电流的大小,研究表明:在中性束垂直注入时快离子自举电流约占总电流10%;自举电流的大小既敏感地依赖于中性束注入的角度——平行注入时较小、接近垂直时迅速增大,同时也较强的依赖于快离子的产生速度与临界速度的比值,即vb/vc,而vb2∝E(束能量);自举电流的大小随注入束能量的增加而迅速增大。  相似文献

Current of the spin magnetic moment of an electron coupled with hydrogen-like impurity, placed in the center of a spherical quantum dot, is studied. Confinement potential of the quantum dot is approximated by rectangular infinitely high walls. S-states of electron for both positive and negative values of total energy are considered. Dependences of spin magnetic moment current of electron on the radial variable for different values of dot radius are obtained. It is shown that for quantum dots with large radius, due to weakening of size-quantization effect, corresponding curves approach each other.  相似文献

Bubble damage detectors have been prepared by using polyacrylamide as detector solid and freon as detector liquid. Tests show that the prepared detectors are sensitive to fast neutrons and have proportionality between bubble number and neutron fluence within a certain range of neutron fluence. Therefore, it can be used as a fast neutron detector and a dosimeter. Our experiments also show that the sensitivity of the detector increases with temperature.  相似文献

Polycarbonate (PC) detector is one of the common detectors for neutron and radon gas detection. Using this detector it is possible to measure the dose in mSv, by counting tracks/cm2 on an etched surface. In this paper, a special procedure has been suggested to determine the dose based on current drain during the etching process. In these experiments the effects of voltage, frequency, effective etched area, PC detector's thickness, etched area (one side or two sides), etching solution temperature and dose absorbed by the PC foil have been studied.The results obtained show the current drain variation for a voltage of 200–1600 V, a frequency of 2–10 kHz, effective area with a diameter of 2–12 cm, PC thickness of 125–250–375– and a temperature of etching solution of 25–.Lexan PC foils were exposed to doses of of neutrons. The unexposed foils were considered as the background (BG) foils. Most of the experiments were performed at a voltage of 800 V, a frequency of 2 and 8 kHz, foil thickness of , diameter of effective etched area of foils of 2, 6 and 12 cm, temperatures of 25 and and the etching process from 0 up to overload stage. Overload stage occurs when the foil becomes so thin due to growth of the tracks that it leads to sparking between phase and null that makes a hole in the foil.Current drain curves versus the function of the etching time are absolutely different for various doses from zero (BG) to 10 rad (BG up to ). This is true especially for the time interval from 3 h of etching up to overload stage. In this way, it is possible to obtain a calibration of PC detector net current drain based on its absorbed dose.In this experiment, the number and diameter of tracks and their relation with drain current and PC foil residual thickness at overload stage have been studied.The same experiment has been performed for various concentrations of radon gas (Bq/m3) as well.  相似文献
