This paper presents a multitone RoF system employing a central station and a remote antenna station to transmit modulated microwave or mm-wave signals. Two configurations of the system employing direct and external modulation are presented. First, at the central station, the modulating signal is directly and externally modulated at 1549.5 and 1550.5 nm, respectively, and the combined signal is then transmitted using wireless mode. In the second configuration, the combined signal is transmitted over 20 km to the remote antenna station using optical fibre connectivity. At the remote antenna station, both channel wavelengths are separated and amplified with an EDFA and SOA and are detected. The demonstration results show that there exists a small power penalty between the direct and the external modulation. But a large power penalty is reported depending upon the choice of optical amplifier viz. EDFA or SOA. Better performance is recorded in later case. The results also show that power is being distributed among the operating frequency and sidebands adjacent to it after transmission over a fibre link.  相似文献

全光波长转换是全光网络的关键技术之一。利用多模半导体激光器的速率方程,建立了基于半导体激光器的全光波长转换器的理论模型,该模型不仅考虑了注入信号光对激光腔内载流子的消耗,而且考虑了激光腔对注入信号光的放大作用。利用该模型分析了半导体激光器工作电流、注入信号光功率以及码率各参数对波长转换特性的影响。结果对于确定基于半导体激光器的全光波长转换器件的最佳工作条件有一定的参考价值。  相似文献

From the thermodynamical point of view there is the possibility of supplying a small amount of the energy of coherent radiation from a thermal reservoir. With reference to squeezed states, we analyse the noise performances of the basic detection schemes in fibre telecommunications and interferometry. We have developed a semiclassical approach that allows us to translate the quantum mechanical formalism into synthetic expressions and rules only involving directly measurable physical quantities. As a result, we find that in the telecommunication field squeezed states do not allow significant improvements in system performances: in practice, the signal-to-noise ratio cannot be increased in standard detection schemes, both direct and coherent, by squeezing either the signal (because of propagation losses) or by the local oscillator. On the contrary, a significant improvement can be obtained in interferometric measurements if squeezed vacuum is coupled into the normally unused beamsplitter port.  相似文献

The performance of a PSK heterodyne optical transmission system using external cavity semiconductor lasers as remote and local oscillators in evaluated theoretically. The experimental results on the conversion of multimode radiation of a neodymium glass laser with controlled spatial and temporal coherence to the second optical harmonic in nonlinear KDP crystal during the oee interaction implementation are presented. The dependence of the efficiency of the conversion to the second harmonic on the fundamental radiation power density on the crystal in the range I = 0.2 ? 5 GW/cm2 is studied at the number of transverse modes in the cavity N = 1000; the radiation divergence φ = 3.5, 4.7, and 5 mrad; the emission spectral width δλ = 5and 42 Å; and the pulse duration of 2.5 ns. The breakdown power density of the KDP crystal is determined, the interference properties of the converted radiation of the second harmonic are studied.  相似文献

The structure of the distribution of plasma parameters over the interelectrode space of a thermoelectronic converter of laser energy into electrical energy was analyzed. Processes occurring in the near-electrode discharge regions were studied. Equations describing the equilibrium core of a continuous optical discharge were derived, and boundary conditions were imposed on these equations. We investigate theoretically two-photon absorption spectroscopy modified by a control field in a confined Y-type four-level system. Dicke-narrowing effect occurs both in two-photon absorption lines and the dips of transparency against two-photon absorption due to enhanced contribution of slow atoms. We also find that the suppression and the enhancement of two-photon absorption can be modified by changing the strength of the control field and the detuning of three laser fields. This control of two-photon absorption may have some applications in information processing and optical devices.  相似文献

Coherent electron transport in structures with multiband superconductors described by models of intraorbital (the s ± model) and interorbital superconducting pairing has been theoretically considered. Conductivities of junctions of a single-band normal metal with superconducting pnictides for these pairing models have been calculated. Temperature and phase dependences of the Josephson current through junctions containing a conventional Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer superconductor and a superconducting pnictide have been calculated within the considered pairing models taking into account temperature dependences of superconducting order parameters.  相似文献

We introduce and experimentally demonstrate a novel technique for one-dimensional coherent imaging through a single-mode optical fiber by use of a pulse shaper and a pulse imager. In contrast to the wavelength-division-multiplexed encoding technique, our approach preserves both amplitude and phase information of the optical signal transmitted through the fiber, allowing one to encode longitudinal in addition to transverse optical information. The effect of the fiber-material dispersion on our imaging technique is analyzed, and potential solutions are discussed.  相似文献

The study on deflagration-to-detonation transition(DDT) is very important because this mechanism has relevance to safety issues in industries, where combustible premixed gases are in general use. However, the quantitative prediction of DDT is one of the major unsolved problems in combustion and detonation theory to date. In this paper, the DDT process is studied theoretically and the critical condition is given by a concise theoretical expression. The results show that a deflagration wave propagating with about 60% Chapman–Jouguet(CJ) detonation velocity is a critical condition. This velocity is the maximum propagating velocity of a deflagration wave and almost equal to the sound speed of combustion products. When this critical condition is reached, a CJ detonation is triggered immediately. This is the quantitative criteria of the DDT process.  相似文献

Scatterometry is a well established technique currently utilized in research, as well as in industrial applications, to retrieve the properties of a given scatterer (the target) by looking at how the light coming from a certain source is diffracted in the far field. Currently the light source is often a discharge lamp that, after wavelength filtering, can be thought as a quasi-monochromatic, but spatially incoherent, source. In the present work, benefits of using a focused spot from a spatially coherent light source, as that emitted by a laser, are investigated on a theoretical viewpoint. The focused spot is scanned over the object of interest and, for each scan position, a far-field diffraction pattern is recorded. Our results show that spatially coherent light can sensibly increase the accuracy of the technique with respect to the target’s geometrical profile.  相似文献

The possibility of formation of a coherent dark state in the five-level system in the entire volume of the medium in an adiabatic pulse propagation is investigated. It is shown that the dark state formation is independent on the value of the first two-photon detuning from the resonance, which may be changed during the propagation in the medium. In the case of the M-type system with the equal strengths of oscillators at the extreme transitions it is shown that the self-phase modulation does not influence the coherent effects while in the ladder-type system it may lead to the destruction of the dark state. The estimation of the length of the medium in which the propagation effects are negligible is obtained.  相似文献

The coherent superposition of atomic states leads to the characteristic change of interacting lights because of the coupling between the lights and atoms. In this paper, the noise spectrum of the quantified light interacting with the atoms is studied under the condition of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT). It is shown that the noise spectrum displays a double M-shape noise profile resulted from the conversion of phase noise of probe beam. A squeezing of 0.3 dB can be observed at the detuning of probe light at the proper parameters of atoms and coupling beam.  相似文献
