Various iterative methods for solving nonlinear complementarity problems (NCP) are developed in recent years. In this paper we propose Jacobian smoothing inexact Newton methods for NCP with different nonmonotone strategies. The methods are based on semismooth equation reformulation of NCP by Fischer-Burmeister function. Nonmonotone line-search techniques are used for globalization procedure. Numerical performance of algorithms are compared. (© 2013 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

On the Nonmonotone Line Search   总被引:10,自引:0,他引:10
The technique of nonmonotone line search has received many successful applications and extensions in nonlinear optimization. This paper provides some basic analyses of the nonmonotone line search. Specifically, we analyze the nonmonotone line search methods for general nonconvex functions along different lines. The analyses are helpful in establishing the global convergence of a nonmonotone line search method under weaker conditions on the search direction. We explore also the relations between nonmonotone line search and R-linear convergence assuming that the objective function is uniformly convex. In addition, by taking the inexact Newton method as an example, we observe a numerical drawback of the original nonmonotone line search and suggest a standard Armijo line search when the nonmonotone line search condition is not satisfied by the prior trial steplength. The numerical results show the usefulness of such suggestion for the inexact Newton method.  相似文献

The circular cone programming (CCP) problem is to minimize or maximize a linear function over the intersection of an affine space with the Cartesian product of circular cones. In this paper, we study nondegeneracy and strict complementarity for the CCP, and present a nonmonotone smoothing Newton method for solving the CCP. We reformulate the CCP as a second-order cone programming (SOCP) problem using the algebraic relation between the circular cone and the second-order cone. Then based on a one parametric class of smoothing functions for the SOCP, a smoothing Newton method is developed for the CCP by adopting a new nonmonotone line search scheme. Without restrictions regarding its starting point, our algorithm solves one linear system of equations approximately and performs one line search at each iteration. Under mild assumptions, our algorithm is shown to possess global and local quadratic convergence properties. Some preliminary numerical results illustrate that our nonmonotone smoothing Newton method is promising for solving the CCP.  相似文献

We develop and analyze an affine scaling inexact generalized Newton algorithm in association with nonmonotone interior backtracking line technique for solving systems of semismooth equations subject to bounds on variables. By combining inexact affine scaling generalized Newton with interior backtracking line search technique, each iterate switches to inexact generalized Newton backtracking step to strict interior point feasibility. The global convergence results are developed in a very general setting of computing trial steps by the affine scaling generalized Newton-like method that is augmented by an interior backtracking line search technique projection onto the feasible set. Under some reasonable conditions we establish that close to a regular solution the inexact generalized Newton method is shown to converge locally p-order q-superlinearly. We characterize the order of local convergence based on convergence behavior of the quality of the approximate subdifferentials and indicate how to choose an inexact forcing sequence which preserves the rapid convergence of the proposed algorithm. A nonmonotonic criterion should bring about speeding up the convergence progress in some ill-conditioned cases.  相似文献

A smoothing inexact Newton method for nonlinear complementarity problems   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In this article, we propose a new smoothing inexact Newton algorithm for solving nonlinear complementarity problems (NCP) base on the smoothed Fischer-Burmeister function. In each iteration, the corresponding linear system is solved only approximately. The global convergence and local superlinear convergence are established without strict complementarity assumption at the NCP solution. Preliminary numerical results indicate that the method is effective for large-scale NCP.  相似文献

A new smoothing algorithm for the solution of nonlinear complementarity problems (NCP) is introduced in this paper. It is based on semismooth equation reformulation of NCP by Fischer–Burmeister function and its related smooth approximation. In each iteration the corresponding linear system is solved only approximately. Since inexact directions are not necessarily descent, a nonmonotone technique is used for globalization procedure. Numerical results are also presented. Research supported by Ministry of Science, Republic of Serbia, grant No. 144006.  相似文献

In this paper, we focus on solving a class of nonlinear complementarity problems with non-Lipschitzian functions. We first introduce a generalized class of smoothing functions for the plus function. By combining it with Robinson's normal equation, we reformulate the complementarity problem as a family of parameterized smoothing equations. Then, a smoothing Newton method combined with a new nonmonotone line search scheme is employed to compute a solution of the smoothing equations. The global and local superlinear convergence of the proposed method is proved under mild assumptions. Preliminary numerical results obtained applying the proposed approach to nonlinear complementarity problems arising in free boundary problems are reported. They show that the smoothing function and the nonmonotone line search scheme proposed in this paper are effective.  相似文献

In this paper, a new hybrid method is proposed for solving nonlinear complementarity problems (NCP) with P 0 function. In the new method, we combine a smoothing nonmonotone trust region method based on a conic model and line search techniques. We reformulate the NCP as a system of semismooth equations using the Fischer-Burmeister function. Using Kanzow’s smooth approximation function to construct the smooth operator, we propose a smoothing nonmonotone trust region algorithm of a conic model for solving the NCP with P 0 functions. This is different from the classical trust region methods, in that when a trial step is not accepted, the method does not resolve the trust region subproblem but generates an iterative point whose steplength is defined by a line search. We prove that every accumulation point of the sequence generated by the algorithm is a solution of the NCP. Under a nonsingularity condition, the superlinear convergence of the algorithm is established without a strict complementarity condition.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce a new class of smoothing functions, which include some popular smoothing complementarity functions. We show that the new smoothing functions possess a system of favorite properties. The existence and continuity of a smooth path for solving the nonlinear complementarity problem (NCP) with a P 0 function are discussed. The Jacobian consistency of this class of smoothing functions is analyzed. Based on the new smoothing functions, we investigate a smoothing Newton algorithm for the NCP and discuss its global and local superlinear convergence. Some preliminary numerical results are reported.  相似文献

Based on a new symmetrically perturbed smoothing function, the generalized nonlinear complementarity problem defined on a polyhedral cone is reformulated as a system of smoothing equations. Then we suggest a new nonmonotone derivative-free line search and combine it into the smoothing Broyden-like method. The proposed algorithm contains the usual monotone line search as a special case and can overcome the difficult of smoothing Newton methods in solving the smooth equations to some extent. Under mild conditions, we prove that the proposed algorithm has global and local superlinear convergence. Furthermore, the algorithm is locally quadratically convergent under suitable assumptions. Preliminary numerical results are also reported.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the open problem as to whether DFP method with inexact line search converges globally to the minimum of a uniformly convex function. We study this problem by way of a Gauss-Newton approach rather than an ordinary Newton approach. We also propose a derivative-free line search that can be implemented conveniently by a backtracking process and has such an attractive property that any iterative method with this line search generates a sequence of iterates that is approximately norm descent. Moreover, if the Jacobian matrices are uniformly nonsingular, then the generated sequenceconverges. Under appropriate conditions, we establish global and superlinear convergence of the proposed Gauss-Newton based DFP method, which supports the open problem positively.  相似文献

The smoothing-type algorithms, which are in general designed based on some monotone line search, have been successfully applied to solve the second-order cone programming (denoted by SOCP). In this paper, we propose a nonmonotone smoothing Newton algorithm for solving the SOCP. Under suitable assumptions, we show that the proposed algorithm is globally and locally quadratically convergent. To compare with the existing smoothing-type algorithms for the SOCP, our algorithm has the following special properties: (i) it is based on a new smoothing function of the vector-valued natural residual function; (ii) it uses a nonmonotone line search scheme which contains the usual monotone line search as a special case. Preliminary numerical results demonstrate that the smoothing-type algorithm using the nonmonotone line search is promising for solving the SOCP.  相似文献

Jacobian smoothing Brown’s method for nonlinear complementarity problems (NCP) is studied in this paper. This method is a generalization of classical Brown’s method. It belongs to the class of Jacobian smoothing methods for solving semismooth equations. Local convergence of the proposed method is proved in the case of a strictly complementary solution of NCP. Furthermore, a locally convergent hybrid method for general NCP is introduced. Some numerical experiments are also presented.  相似文献

Based on a regularized Chen–Harker–Kanzow–Smale (CHKS) smoothing function, we propose a new smoothing and regularization Newton method for solving the symmetric cone complementarity problem. By using the theory of Euclidean Jordan algebras, we establish the global and local quadratic convergence of the method on certain assumptions. The proposed method uses a nonmonotone line search technique which includes the usual monotone line search as a special case. In addition, our method treats both the smoothing parameter \(\mu \) and the regularization parameter \(\varepsilon \) as independent variables. Preliminary numerical results are reported which indicate that the proposed method is effective.  相似文献

A smoothing method for solving stochastic linear complementarity problems is proposed. The expected residual minimization reformulation of the problem is considered, and it is approximated by the sample average approximation (SAA). The proposed method is based on sequential solving of a sequence of smoothing problems where each of the smoothing problems is defined with its own sample average approximation. A nonmonotone line search with a variant of the Barzilai–Borwein (BB) gradient direction is used for solving each of the smoothing problems. The BB search direction is efficient and low cost, particularly suitable for nonmonotone line search procedure. The variable sample size scheme allows the sample size to vary across the iterations and the method tends to use smaller sample size far away from the solution. The key point of this strategy is a good balance between the variable sample size strategy, the smoothing sequence and nonmonotonicity. Eventually, the maximal sample size is used and the SAA problem is solved. Presented numerical results indicate that the proposed strategy reduces the overall computational cost.  相似文献

In this paper, a new nonmonotone inexact line search rule is proposed and applied to the trust region method for unconstrained optimization problems. In our line search rule, the current nonmonotone term is a convex combination of the previous nonmonotone term and the current objective function value, instead of the current objective function value . We can obtain a larger stepsize in each line search procedure and possess nonmonotonicity when incorporating the nonmonotone term into the trust region method. Unlike the traditional trust region method, the algorithm avoids resolving the subproblem if a trial step is not accepted. Under suitable conditions, global convergence is established. Numerical results show that the new method is effective for solving unconstrained optimization problems.  相似文献

This paper concerns with a new nonmonotone strategy and its application to the line search approach for unconstrained optimization. It has been believed that nonmonotone techniques can improve the possibility of finding the global optimum and increase the convergence rate of the algorithms. We first introduce a new nonmonotone strategy which includes a convex combination of the maximum function value of some preceding successful iterates and the current function value. We then incorporate the proposed nonmonotone strategy into an inexact Armijo-type line search approach to construct a more relaxed line search procedure. The global convergence to first-order stationary points is subsequently proved and the R-linear convergence rate are established under suitable assumptions. Preliminary numerical results finally show the efficiency and the robustness of the proposed approach for solving unconstrained nonlinear optimization problems.  相似文献

We propose an inexact Newton method with a filter line search algorithm for nonconvex equality constrained optimization. Inexact Newton’s methods are needed for large-scale applications which the iteration matrix cannot be explicitly formed or factored. We incorporate inexact Newton strategies in filter line search, yielding algorithm that can ensure global convergence. An analysis of the global behavior of the algorithm and numerical results on a collection of test problems are presented.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a nonmonotone smoothing Newton algorithm for solving the circular cone programming(CCP) problem in which a linear function is minimized or maximized over the intersection of an affine space with the circular cone. Based on the relationship between the circular cone and the second-order cone(SOC), we reformulate the CCP problem as the second-order cone problem(SOCP). By extending the nonmonotone line search for unconstrained optimization to the CCP, a nonmonotone smoothing Newton method is proposed for solving the CCP. Under suitable assumptions, the proposed algorithm is shown to be globally and locally quadratically convergent. Some preliminary numerical results indicate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm for solving the CCP.  相似文献
