We present the first results on scalar glueballs in cold, dense matter using lattice simulations of two-color QCD. The simulations are carried out on a 63×12 lattice and use a standard hybrid molecular dynamics algorithm for staggered fermions for two values of quark mass. The glueball correlators are evaluated via a multi-step smearing procedure. The amplitude of the glueball correlator peaks in correspondence with the zero temperature chiral transition, μ c=m π /2, and the propagators change in a significant way in the superfluid phase, while the Polyakov loop is nearly insensitive to the transition. Standard analysis suggest that lowest mass in the 0++ gluonic channel decreases in the superfluid phase, but these observations need to be confirmed on larger and more elongated lattices. These results indicate that a non-zero density induces non-trivial modifications of the gluonic medium.  相似文献

The phase diagram for quark matter is investigated within a simple Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model without vector correlations. It is found that the phase structure in the temperature-density plane depends sensitively on the parametrization of the model. We present two schemes of parametrization of the model where, within the first one, a first-order phase transition from a phase with broken chiral symmetry to a color superconducting phase for temperatures below the triple point at T t = 55 MeV occurs, whereas for the second one a second-order phase transition for temperatures below T t = 7 MeV is found. In the latter case, there is also a coexistence phase of broken chiral symmetry with color superconductivity, which is a new finding within this class of models. Possible consequences for the phenomenology of the QCD phase transition at high baryon densities are discussed. Discussed is how non-perturbative properties of quark gluon plasma, recently discovered in RHIC experiment, can be related to the change of properties of scalar and pseudoscalar glueballs. We set up a model with the Cornwall–Soni's glueball–gluon interaction, which shows that the pseudoscalar glueball becomes massless above the critical temperature of deconfinement phase transition. This change of properties gives rise to the change of sign of the gluon condensate at T>TcT>Tc. We discuss the other physical consequences resulting from the drastic change of the pseudoscalar glueball mass above the critical temperature.  相似文献

Intercalation of polyatomic molecules into a superconductor can drastically affect the properties of the compound. A mechanism responsible for a large increase in T c for such systems is proposed. It explains the recent remarkable observation of high T c superconductivity in the hole-doped C60/CHX3 (X≡Cl, Br) compounds and the large shift in their T c upon Cl↦Br substitution. The increase in T c is due to contribution to the pairing arising from the interaction of electrons with the vibrational manifold of the molecule. The proposed mechanism opens up the possibility to observe a site-selective isotope effect. We also suggest that intercalating CHI3 would further increase the critical temperature to T c≃ 140 K. The high-spin level structure of the 153Er nucleus has been reinvestigated by in-beam γ-ray and electron spectroscopy with (14N,pxn) reaction. Excitation energies, spin and parity assignments are unambiguously established for the two lowest isomers T 1/2≃ 380 ns and T1/2\simeq 10 ns. The characteristics of the third one (T 1/2≃ 250 ns) at 5.2 MeV are still questionable but its main decay modes are better known. An extension of the level scheme is proposed up to 8.4 MeV.Experimental results have been discussed in terms of shell model multiplets and compared with the other structures observed in N=85 neighbouring nuclei. After reviewing the euclidean formulation of the thermodynamics for quantum spin systems, we develop the corresponding formalism for SU(N) gauge fields on the lattice. The results are then evaluated for the SU(2) system, using Monte Carlo simulation on lattices of (space × temperature) size 103 × 2,3,4,5. At high temperature, the system exhibits Stefan-Boltzmann behaviour, with three gluonic colour degrees of freedom. At Tc ≈ 43ΛL (215 MeV), the transition to “hadronic” behaviour occurs, signalled by a sharp peak in the specific heat. From the behaviour below the deconfinement transition (T<Tc), we obtain mG ≈ 200ΛL (1000 MeV) for the mass of the lowest gluonium state (glueball).  相似文献

This paper is a sequel of a previous one (Scalar mesons in a chiral quark model with glueball, Eur. Phys. J. A 8, 567 (2000)) where an attempt to construct an effective U(3)×U(3)-symmetric meson Lagrangian with a scalar glueball was made. The glueball was introduced by using the dilaton model on the base of scale invariance. The scale invariance breaking because of current quark masses and the scale anomaly of QCD, reproduced by the dilaton potential, was taken into account. However, in the previous paper, the scale invariance breaking because of the terms like h φφ2 and h σ , where φ and are the pseudoscalar and scalar isosinglets, was not taken into account. These terms are produced by the part of the 't Hooft interaction that is connected with gluon anomalies. Allowing for the scale invariance breaking by these terms has a decisive effect on the quarkonium-glueball mixing and noticeably changes the widths of glueball strong decays. Taking account of this additional source of the scale invariance breaking and its implications are the subject of the present work. It is also shown that in the decay of a glueball into four pions, the channel with two ρ-resonances dominates. Received: 11 January 2001 / Accepted: 25 January 2001  相似文献

We present the results of the current analysis of the partial wave IJ PC = 00+ + based on the available data for meson spectra ( ππ, KˉK,ηη,η,ππππ). In the framework of the K-matrix approach, the analytical amplitude has been reconstructed in the mass region 280 MeV < < 1900 MeV. The following scalar-isoscalar states are seen: comparatively narrow resonances f 0(980), f 0(1300), f 0(1500), f 0(1750) and the broad state f0(1200-1600). The positions of the amplitude poles (masses and total widths of the resonances) are determined as well as pole residues (partial widths to meson channels ππ, KˉK,ηη,η,ππππ). The fitted amplitude gives us the positions of the K-matrix poles (bare states) and the values of bare-state couplings to meson channels thus allowing the quark-antiquark nonet classification of bare states. On the basis of the obtained partial widths to the channels ππ, KˉK,ηη,η, we estimate the quark/gluonium content of f 0(980), f 0(1300), f 0(1500), f 0(1750), f0(1200-1600). For f 0(980), f 0(1300), f 0(1500) and f 0(1750), their partial widths testify the qˉq origin of these mesons though being unable to provide precise evaluation of the possible admixture of the gluonium component in these resonances. The ratios of the decay coupling constants for the f0(1200-1600) support the idea about the gluonium nature of this broad state. The reaction γd↦π0 X has been measured with TAPS at MAMI in the energy range E γ = 140-300 MeV. Using the Glasgow tagging spectrometer a photon energy resolution of 0.8 MeV was achieved. The energy excitation functions of integral and differential total cross-sections show no structures of statistical significance > 2σ. Upper limits for the production of narrow isoscalar or isovector dibaryons with masses m? 2100 MeV/c2 were deduced. They are in the range 2-5 μb averaged over the 0.8 MeV energy resolution. The magnetic transport properties have been measured for La0.67-xYxCa0.33MnO3 ( 0 ⩽ x ⩽ 0.14) system. It was found that the transition temperature T p almost linearly moves to higher temperature as H increases. Electron spin resonance confirms that above T p , there exist ferromagnetic clusters. From the magnetic polaron point of view, the shift of T p vs. H was understood, and it was estimated that the size of the magnetic polaron is of 9.7 ∼ 15.4 ? which is consistent with the magnetic correlation length revealed by the small-angle neutron-scattering technique. The transport properties at temperatures higher than T p conform to the variable-range hopping mechanism. We discuss how the spectral changes of quarkonia at T c can reflect the ‘critical’ behaviour of QCD phase transition. Starting from the temperature dependencies of the energy density and pressure from lattice QCD calculation, we extract the temperature dependencies of the scalar and spin-2 gluon condensates near T c. We also parametrize these changes into the electric and magnetic condensate near T c. While the magnetic condensate hardly changes across T c, we find that the electric condensate increases abruptly above T c. Similar abrupt change is also seen in the scalar condensate. Using the QCD second-order Stark effect and QCD sum rules, we show that these sudden changes induce equally abrupt changes in the mass and width of J/ψ, both of which are larger than 100 MeV at slightly above T c.   相似文献

The phase transition “triangular lattice-vortex liquid” in layered high-T c superconductors in the presence of pinning centers is studied. A two-dimensional system of vortices simulating the superconducting layers in a high-T c Shubnikov phase is calculated by the Monte Carlo method. It was found that in the presence of defects the melting of the vortex lattice proceeds in two stages: First, the ideal triangular lattice transforms at low temperature (≃3 K)into islands which are pinned to the pinning centers and rotate around them and then, at a higher temperature (≃8 K for T c 584 K), the boundaries of the “islands” become smeared and the system transforms into a vortex liquid. As the pinning force increases, the temperatures of both phase transitions shift: The temperature of the point “triangular lattice-rotating lattice” decreases slightly (to ≃2 K)and the temperature of the phase transition “rotating lattice-vortex liquid” increases substantially (≃70 K). Orthorhombic EuPdSb is known to undergo two magnetic transitions, at 12 K and at T N≃ 18 K, and in phase III (T < 12 K), single crystal magnetisation data have shown that the spin structure is collinear antiferromagnetic, with magnetic moments along the crystal a axis. From a 151Eu M?ssbauer absorption study, we show that, at any temperature within phase III, all the moments have equal sizes, and that in phase II (12 K< T <18 K) the magnetic structure is modulated and incommensurate with the lattice spacings. The modulation is close to a pure sine-wave just below T N = 18 K, and it squares up as temperature is lowered. We measured the thermal variations of the first and third harmonics of the moment modulation, and we could determine the first and third harmonics of the exchange coupling. We furthermore show that the antiferromagnetic-incommensurate transition at 12 K is strongly first order, with a hysteresis of 0.05 K, and that the incommensurate-paramagnetic transition at 18 K is weakly first order. Finally, we present an explanation of the spin-flop transition observed in the single crystal magnetisation data in phase III when || in terms of an anisotropic molecular field tensor. The masses of the SU(3)×SU(6) hadrons are calculated in the chiral-invariant phase space (CHIPS) model as a sum of the mean energies of the quarks at a constant temperature T c with the color-magnetic splitting and the color-electric shift. The masses of hadrons are parametrized by four constants: T c, ms, E CE and A CM. With the same number of parameters the CHIPS model fits the masses of hadrons better than the classic bag model. The small mass of the d-quark ( m d = 2.7MeV) is used to prove that the isotopic shifts of hadrons can be explained by the mass difference between the d- and u-quarks. The dibaryon mass is estimated in CHIPS to be 200MeV higher than in the bag model. The prediction for the mass of the α* cluster is about the same in both models. It is close to 4 . m Δ. The heavy-fermion metal CePd1−x Rh x can be tuned from ferromagnetism at x = 0 to the nonmagnetic state at some critical concentration x c . The non-Fermi liquid behavior (NFL) at xx c is recognized by the power-law dependence of the specific heat C(T) given by the electronic contribution susceptibility X(T) and volume expansion coefficient α(T) at low temperatures: C/TX(T) ∝ α(T)/T∝ 1/ √T. We also demonstrate that the behavior of the normalized effective mass M N * observed in CePd1−x Rh x at x ≃ 0.8 agrees with that of M N * observed in paramagnetic CeRu2Si2 and conclude that these alloys exhibit the universal NFL thermodynamic behavior at their quantum critical points. We show that the NFL behavior of CePd1−x Rh x can be accounted for within the frameworks of the quasiparticle picture and fermion condensation quantum phase transition, while this alloy exhibits a universal thermodynamic NFL behavior that is independent of the characteristic features of the given alloy such as its lattice structure, magnetic ground state, dimension, etc. The text was submitted by the authors in English.  相似文献

The dielectric permittivity ε - i of SrTi 18O 3 (STO18) is studied under a dc electric field E as a function of the temperature, T. In ε vs. T, a double-peak is found when 0 < E < 30 KV/m. While the peak at high-T is attributed to the smeared ferroelectric phase transition, the low-T one is induced by domain wall motion. The transverse Ising model including an external homogeneous and quenched random-fields is successfully used to describe both the smeared phase transition and the domain wall response in the low-T domain state. The calculations are in good agreement with the experimental results. Received 4 January 2002 / Received in final form 25 March 2002 Published online 19 July 2002  相似文献

Within the conventional QCD sum rules, we calculate the πNN coupling constant, g πN, beyond the chiral limit using two-point correlation function with a pion. For this purpose, we consider the Dirac structure, iγ5, at m π 2 order in the expansion of the correlator in terms of the pion momentum. For a consistent treatment of the sum rule, we include the linear terms in quark mass as they constitute the same chiral order as m π 2. In this sum rule, we obtain g πN= 13.3 ± 1.2, which is very close to the empirical πNN coupling. This demonstrates that going beyond the chiral limit is crucial in determining the coupling. A fireball model with time evolution based on transport calculations is used to examine the dilepton emission rate of an ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collision. A transition from hadronic matter to a quark-gluon plasma at a critical temperature T C between 130-170 MeV is assumed. We also consider a possible mixed phase scenario. We include thermal corrections to the hadronic spectra below T C and use perturbation theory above T C. The sensitivity of the spectra with respect to the freeze-out temperature, the initial fireball temperature and the critical temperature is investigated. We investigate the excitation function of quark-gluon plasma formation and of directed in-plane flow of nucleons in the energy range of the BNL-AGS and for the E kin Lab = 40A GeV Pb + Pb collisions performed recently at the CERN-SPS. We employ the three-fluid model with dynamical unification of kinetically equilibrated fluid elements. Within our model with first-order phase transition at high density, droplets of QGP coexisting with hadronic matter are produced already at BNL-AGS energies, E kin Lab≃ 10A GeV. A substantial decrease of the isentropic velocity of sound, however, requires higher energies, E kin Lab≃ 40A GeV. We show the effect on the flow of nucleons in the reaction plane. According to our model calculations, kinematic requirements and EoS effects work hand-in-hand at E kin Lab = 40A GeV to allow the observation of the dropping velocity of sound via an increase of the directed flow around midrapidity as compared to top BNL-AGS energy. We calculate at two-loop order in chiral perturbation theory the electromagnetic corrections to the leading-order 2π exchange NN interaction proportional to g A 0 and g A 2. The resulting 2πγ exchange potential contains isospin-breaking components which reach up to about -2% of the corresponding isovector 2π exchange potential. With a value of only -17keV at r = m π -1 = 1.4fm the charge-independence breaking central potential obtained here is negligibly small in comparison to the one generated by the isoscalar c3 contact vertex. Our calculation confirms that the largest long-range isospin-violating NN potentials arise from the 2πγ exchange diagrams involving the large low-energy constants c 4 ≃ - c 3 ≃ 3.3GeV^-1 representing the important Δ(1232) dynamics.  相似文献
