We propose a mode-locked figure-eight fiber laser by utilizing an attenuation-imbalanced nonlinear optical loop mirror (AI-NOLM) for the first time. Stable self-starting passively mode-locked pulses as short as 296 fs are obtained. We have also confirmed that the pulse width of the laser can be varied by changing the amount of attenuation in the AI-NOLM.  相似文献

Close spaced ultra-short bound solitons from DI-NOLM Figure-8 fiber laser   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Ultra-short soliton pulses of 72 fs without any pedestal and CW components are observed from Figure-8 passively mode-locked fiber laser, which is incorporated with a dispersion-imbalanced nonlinear optical loop mirror (DI-NOLM). Bound states of asymmetrical solitons with pulse width of 103 fs and separation of 585.5 fs are also observed. The bound soliton separation and pulsewidth remain unchanged even after passing through 1.2 km single mode fiber (SMF) transmission.  相似文献

Pulses of 177 fs and 1035 nm, with average power of 1.2 mW, have been generated directly from a passively mode-locked Yb-doped figure-of-eight fiber laser, with a nonlinear optical loop mirror for mode-locking and pairs of diffraction gratings for intracavity dispersion compensation. To our knowledge, these are the shortest pulses ever to come from a passively mode-locked Yb-doped figure-of-eight fiber laser. This represents a 5-fold reduction in pulse duration compared with that of previously reported passively mode-locked Yb-doped figure-of-eight fiber lasers. Stable pulse trains are produced at the fundamental repetition rate of the resonator, 24.0 MHz.  相似文献

报导了一种采用预啁啾管理放大技术实现的百飞秒级掺镱光纤激光器系统。该系统首先利用非线性偏振旋转技术搭建锁模种子激光,实现重复频率为82.3 MHz、压缩后脉宽接近180 fs的近线性啁啾稳定脉冲序列。种子脉冲通过预放大级和预啁啾管理放大级后获得了平均功率为12 W、压缩后脉宽低于100 fs的脉冲。经过预啁啾管理放大级的压缩后脉冲宽度明显优于种子激光的压缩后脉冲宽度。  相似文献

在理论上数值计算了各种常量对色散不对称非线性光纤环形镜透射特性的影响。并分析了它作为被动锁模器件用于光纤激光器压窄脉冲的物理机制。利用8字形主被动混合锁模的结构在调制频率为9.998748700 GHz,波长为1566.65nm处获得了11ps的稳定锁模脉冲输出.对应谱宽0.297nm.同时在重复频率为9.995792825 GHz和9.996778256 GHz时分别得到了振幅均匀的二阶和三阶谐波锁模输出。证明色散不对称非线性光纤环形镜可以有效消减脉冲的尾翼和噪声.得到脉幅稳定的脉冲序列。  相似文献

A compact and stable all-normal-dispersion mode-locked ring fiber laser with the repetition rate of 312 MHz is obtained with a wavelength-division multiplexing isolator. The compressed pulse is nearly transform-limited and the pulse width is 118 fs. It exhibits an optical efficiency of 50% and the maximum output power is about 205 m W with a 410 m W pump.  相似文献

We present the design of highly stable, passively mode-locked fiber lasers which are based on a simple configuration and require a low pump power for the generation of optical pulses with subpicosecond pulsewidth. Our designed fiber laser uses a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror to realize the self-starting, passive mode locking at a low pump power of 29 mW, with which a stable optical pulse train is obtained at the fundamental repetition rate of 52.5 MHz and the central wavelength of 1557 nm. The output mode-locked optical pulses have a pulsewidth of 881 fs and an average output power of 1.78 mW, respectively.  相似文献

We present an experimental demonstration of a passively mode-locked figure-eight fiber laser (F8L) based on a power-imbalanced nonlinear optical loop-mirror (PI-NOLM) comprising a section of 25 m long high-nonlinear fiber (HNLF) and a tunable attenuator (ATT). The asymmetric power, which results in different nonlinear phase shifts on the clockwise (CW) and counter-clockwise (CCW) directions, is achieved using an ATT. We greatly reduce the length of the nonlinear cavity, which can effectively diminish the interference from external environment. A balanced optical coupler (OC) and an ATT act as a tunable OC. So, a stable mode-locked pulse train with full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 571 fs and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 60 dB is obtained.  相似文献

利用自行开发的高稳定、低抖动和重复频率可调的“σ”型被动锁模光纤激光器作为高性能光学取样源,与待测的80 Gb/s光脉冲信号同时输入到100 m高非线性光纤中,通过四波混频效应实现了对被测光信号的全光采样。然后利用自行开发的数字信号处理与计算机图形显示软件,精确地重现了被测试的基于RZ码型的80 Gb/s光脉冲信号波形图。同时,还利用该光学取样示波器实验样机系统对重复频率为10 GHz、脉宽为1.8 ps的商用半导体主动锁模激光器的输出波形进行测量,所显示的脉冲宽度值为2.0 ps。这表明开发出的实验样机系统的时间分辨率优于900 fs。  相似文献

The advantages of using nonlinear optical loop mirror (NOLM) to compress pulse with slight amplitude fluctuation and reflected energy loss are analyzed in theory. Experimentally the NOLM is placed in an actively mode-locked erbium-doped fiber ring laser to form a figure-eight actively and passively mode-locked fiber laser. 12 ps mode-locked pulses centered at 1.543 μm were obtained with the modulation frequency of 2.498748700 GHz. 3.715 mW output power is achieved with 50 mW pump power.  相似文献

We have experimentally achieved the 8.3-ps ultra-short pulse at 10 GHz repetition rate with the time jitter as low as 590 fs in an actively mode-locked fiber ring laser. The ring-cavity laser is mode-locked by a semiconductor optical amplifier based on cross-gain modulation. The external CW source is modulated with radio frequency signal by an amplitude modulator as the external optical pulses and, then, injected into the fiber ring cavity to achieve active mode locking. Further investigating the laser output characteristics, it indicates that the linewidth of employed CW source affects properties of the generated ultra-short pulse, such as phase noise and time jitter. Ultra-short pulse at high repetition rate with low time jitter can be generated by the optimization of CW laser source.  相似文献

44.6 fs pulses from a 257 MHz, mode-locked non-polarization maintaining Er-doped fiber laser based on a biased nonlinear amplifying loop mirror are reported. 高集成、高可靠性宽调谐飞秒激光源在超快光谱学、量子光学及生物成像等研究与应用领域具有重要价值.如在生物多光子显微成像中,具有适中能量的宽调谐飞秒激光源不仅可满足多种生物组织荧光激发所需的峰值功率与激发波长,而且也可以显著提升非线性荧光产生效率、成像分辨率以及增大成像穿透深度.采用自主研发的高可靠性全保偏光纤飞秒激光器作为抽运源,基于低色散光纤中高峰值功率飞秒激光脉冲非线性传输引起的光谱加宽机制,本文开展了多波长全光纤飞秒激光产生技术研究.通过采用中心波长在980, 1000,1050, 1070与1100 nm的带通滤波片选择性地对单模光纤输出光谱中最左边与最右边光谱旁瓣进行滤波,在上述中心波长处分别可获得203, 195, 196, 187与194 fs的激光输出.本文提出的基于全光纤飞秒激光脉冲在单模光纤中非线性传输引起的光谱加宽机制与特定光谱选择技术的实验方案为高集成、高可靠性宽调谐飞秒激光源的实现提供了新的研究途径.  相似文献

An actively mode-locked fiber ring laser based on cross-gain modulation (XGM) in a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) is demonstrated to operate stably with a simple configuration. By forward injecting an easily-generated external pulse train, the mode-locked fiber laser can generate an optical-pulse sequence with pulsewidth about 6 ps and average output power about 7.9 mW. The output pulses show an ultra-low RMS jitter about 70.7 fs measured by a RF spectrum analyzer. The use of the proposed forward-injection configuration can realize the repetition-rate tunability from 1 to 15 GHz for the generated optical-pulse sequences. By employing a wavelength-tunable optical band-pass filter in the laser cavity, the operation wavelength of the designed SOA-based actively mode-locked fiber laser can be tuned continuously in a wide span between 1528 and 1565 nm. The parameters of external-injection optical pulses are studied experimentally to optimize the mode-locked fiber laser.  相似文献

We report the synthesis of a nearly single-cycle (3.7?fs), ultrafast optical pulse train at 78?MHz from the coherent combination of a passively mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser (6?fs pulses) and a fiber supercontinuum (1-1.4?μm, with 8?fs pulses). The coherent combination is achieved via orthogonal, attosecond-precision synchronization of both pulse envelope timing and carrier envelope phase using balanced optical cross-correlation and balanced homodyne detection, respectively. The resulting pulse envelope, which is only 1.1 optical cycles in duration, is retrieved with two-dimensional spectral shearing interferometry (2DSI). To our knowledge, this work represents the first stable synthesis of few-cycle pulses from independent laser sources.  相似文献

Performance scaling of passively mode-locked ultrashort-pulse fiber oscillators in terms of average power, peak power, and pulse energy is demonstrated. A very-large-mode-area fiber laser in an all-positive group-velocity-dispersion ring cavity configuration with intracavity spectral filter, mode-locked by nonlinear polarization evolution, emits 66 W of average power at 76 MHz repetition rate, corresponding to 0.9 μJ pulse energy. The pulses are dechirped to 91 fs outside the cavity with an average power of 60 W remaining after the compressor. The generated pulse peak power is as high as 7 MW.  相似文献
