A class of whispering-gallery-mode resonators, herein referred to as adiabatic microring resonators, is proposed and numerically demonstrated. Adiabatic microrings enable electrical and mechanical contact to be made to the resonator without inducing radiation, while supporting only a single radial mode and therein achieving an uncorrupted free spectral range (FSR). Rigorous finite-difference time-domain simulations indicate that adiabatic microrings with outer diameters as small as 4 μm can achieve resonator quality factors (Qs) as high as Q = 88,000 and an FSR of 8.2 THz, despite large internal contacts.  相似文献

Tapered fiber based ring resonators are fabricated and its optical characteristic is investigated in detail. The ring resonator is fabricated by coiling the tapered fiber, which is firstly made by heating and stretching a piece of optical fiber, after the polymer protective cladding has been removed The comb filter with a constant free spectral range (FSR) and the maximum extinction ratio of 4.2 dB is achieved by a single-mode fiber based ring resonator. The FSR of ring resonator can be adjusted by controlling the diameter of the ring. The extinction ratio is improved in the polarization maintaining fiber based ring resonator where the maximum extinction ratio of 14 dB is achieved at 1531 nm region.  相似文献

提出了一种基于串联双微环谐振器的新型聚酰亚胺(Polyimide,PI)湿度传感器,采用传输矩阵法和耦合模的理论计算微环谐振器的传递函数,并对比了传统单微环与串联不同半径的双微环的输出光谱特性。外界湿度变化使得聚酰亚胺SOI波导吸收水汽后折射率发生变化,从而引起微环输出光谱发生漂移,通过探测光谱漂移量来测湿度值,得到了串联双微环传感器的灵敏度和测量范围,并且分析了感湿部位不同时谐振器输出光谱特性。理论结果表明:串联不同半径的微环谐振器的自由光谱范围(FSR)要比单微环有所提高,而且串联双微环谐振器整体感湿比单个微环单独感湿的传感性能更优良,可作为最佳的湿敏元件。与传统的单微环传感器相比,串联不同半径的微环结构可提高系统的测量范围和灵敏度,半径为30和50 μm的串联微环谐振器的FSR可达到0.15 μm,传感器测量湿度范围为10%RH~80%RH,灵敏度可达到0.001 7 μm·(%RH)-1。因此串联不同半径的双微环谐振器为制备成本低、结构简单、高灵敏度、可集成的微型湿度传感器件提供一定理论基础。  相似文献

The spectrum of resonance frequencies in so-called free-standing resonators, built with coupled ring or disk resonators is analytically and numerically investigated. The composite resonator which constitutes the core of numerous photonic devices such as channel dropping filters, dispersion compensators, laser mirrors, etc., determines the salient characteristics of the device, such as its passband width and free spectral range (FSR). The spectral characteristics of the resonances are determined by the refractive indices of the waveguides, the dimensions of the resonators, and the strength of coupling between them. Novel relationships between these parameters are described that result in the invariance of the splitting ratios and as a consequence maintain the passband characteristics of the associated devices. Waveguide attenuation affecting the Q factor of the composite resonators is found to have insignificant effect on their spectral characteristics.  相似文献

 针对激光器出光过程中腔内像差扰动带来的输出光束质量和光束能量下降问题,分析了腔内像差扰动对非稳腔模式的影响,并采用数值迭代法计算了理想情形和腔内像散扰动对无源正支共焦腔输出模式强度和相位分布的影响,进一步采用Zernike模式法对光束相位进行了像差拟合,得到了前35阶Zernike像差系数、点扩散函数(PSF)分布和环围能量曲线,计算了腔内像散扰动量与远场Strehl比的关系。结果表明:对小菲涅耳数正支共焦腔,腔内像散扰动对输出光束强度和相位分布均有明显影响,相位分布中一些高阶Zernike像差也有所增大。因此在进行腔内像差校正时,应优先考虑此类像差的校正。  相似文献

环形谐振器因体积小、功能强、结构简洁等优点长期以来一直在光无源、有源器件的设计和制作中发挥着重要的作用。对光纤的弯曲损耗特性进行了深入分析,指出只有采用微细光纤才能降低全光纤法所制作的环形谐振器的尺寸,加宽器件的自由光谱范围(FSR)获得更好的精细度和品质因子。然后,在改进熔融拉锥技术的同时,保持慢变、绝热条件拉制出在80 mm长度范围内具有良好均匀性、半径为5μm的高质量微细光纤,在此基础上采用自缠绕法研制出半径仅为500μm,谐振效果明显加强的全光纤型微环谐振器,从而很好地解决了集成型微环谐振器较高的弯曲损耗和连接损耗问题。  相似文献

Modeling of triple asymmetrical optical micro ring resonator (TAOMRR) in z-domain with 2?×?2 input-output system with detailed design of its waveguide configuration using finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is presented. Transfer function in z-domain using delay-line signal processing technique of the proposed TAOMRR is determined for different input and output ports. The frequency response analysis is carried out using MATLAB software. Group delay and dispersion characteristics are also determined in MATLAB. The electric field analysis is done using FDTD. The method proposes a new methodology to design and draw multiple configurations of coupled ring resonators having multiple in and out ports. Various important parameters such as coupling coefficients and FSR are also determined.  相似文献

We demonstrate a label-free photonic biosensor with double slots based on micro-ring resonator. The footprint is less than 25 μm × 15 μm. Finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is used to analyze the influence of several key parameters on the performance of the double-slots micro-ring resonators. An asymmetric structure is considered for the ring waveguide in order to improve the sensor's bending efficiency. Our numerical analysis shows that the sensitivity of double-slot micro-ring resonator sensor with the radius of 5 μm reaches a value of 708 nm/RIU. The quality factor of 580 and the free spectral range (FSR) of 33 nm are achieved.  相似文献

We propose a new optical system that can be used to form the multi-soliton pulses within the micro-ring resonators. The system consists of two micro-ring resonators and an add/drop multiplexer that can be integrated into a single system. The large bandwidth signal is generated by using a soliton pulse propagating in a Kerr-type nonlinear medium. The tuned soliton pulses in either spatial or temporal modes are obtained by using the add/drop multiplexer. Results obtained have shown that the multi-soliton pulses can be localized coherently within the micro-ring waveguide. This is shown that the generation of the multi-soliton pulses within the micro-ring resonator is achieved, which is available for long-distance communication with dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM). The significant increase in channel number and spacing are obtained, whereas the large free spectrum range (FSR) of 600 pm is achieved.  相似文献

By fabricating high-Q silicon-nitride spiral resonators, we demonstrate frequency combs spanning over 200 nm with free spectral ranges (FSRs) of 80, 40, and 20 GHz using cascaded four-wave mixing. We characterize the RF beat note for the 20 GHz FSR comb, and the measured linewidth of 3.6 MHz is consistent with thermal fluctuations in the resonator due to amplitude noise of the pump source. These combs represent an important advance towards developing a complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS)-based system capable of linking the optical and electronic regimes.  相似文献

An investigation of the effect of resonator dimensions on nonlinear standing waves in shaped resonators is conducted. Simple forms of the shear viscosity term in the momentum equations are developed for an axisymmetric (2D) resonator and a low aspect ratio rectangular (3D) resonator. The cross sections of the resonators are exponentially expanded and the one-dimensional wave equations are solved by using the Galerkin's method. The quality factors, pressure waveforms, compression ratios, and resonance frequencies are calculated for different dimensionless cross sections and lengths of the resonators. The results show that, apart from the resonator length, the ratio of the cross-section dimension to the length of the resonator is an important parameter. If the ratio is greater than 0.04, the characteristics of the shaped resonator are not affected significantly. However, when the ratio is less than 0.01, the resonance becomes weak, the compression ratio drops substantially, and the frequency response changes as well.  相似文献

In order to increase the number of channels that could be multiplexed or demultiplexed in the dense wavelength division multiplexed (DWDM) system based on the resonators on silicon-on-insulator (SOI) technology, the Vernier effect in the series-coupled racetrack resonators is presented to extend the free spectral range (FSR) of the DWDM systems. A method is developed based on a matrix approach to simulate Vernier devices. A three-dimensional full vectorial finite difference (FVFD) model, specifically suited for high index contrast and smaller size waveguides, for example, a waveguide in SOI technology, is developed to obtain the properties of a waveguide. Finally, the Vernier effect in the two series-coupled racetrack resonators is experimentally verified with an improved FSR and interstitial resonance suppression.  相似文献

Electromagnetic resonators are important not only as realizable models of fundamental concepts in classical and quantum physics, based on the existence and properties of eigenmodes, but also in the practical design of lasers, amplifiers, sensors, filters, and delay lines. Coupled-eigenmode systems may be realized via the multiple eigenmodes of a single resonator or by the coupling of a mode across multiple resonators. Mode cycling is demonstrated as a distinct concept of sequential population transfer in coupled multiple-eigenvalue resonators. Based on this principle, a coupled polymeric microring resonator interferometer is fabricated and characterized; the device achieves greater than 30 dB extinction and (loaded) Q approximately 5.5 x 10(3).  相似文献

Ring resonators are promising building blocks for developing compact optical filters with arbitrary functions; however, a major challenge for planar waveguide filter implementations is to overcome the limited free spectral range (FSR) for a given core-to-cladding refractive-index difference (D) while maintaining low loss and a large range of coupling ratios. The loss and coupling of rings operating in the whispering-gallery-mode regime were investigated by use of Ge-doped silica waveguides with a low refractive-index difference (D=0.75%) . A FSR of 12 GHz with a loss of 0.36 dB/cm was demonstrated with coupling ratios of 30% (41% optimum).  相似文献

We present a scalable method for the fabrication of site-controlled quantum dots (QDs) embedded in optical resonators. The position of the quantum dots is determined by nucleating their growth in an array of nano-holes that is aligned to a set of markers, allowing the precise overlay of the resonator geometry over the QD array. Coupling of the QDs to the resonators is demonstrated by the resonant enhancement of the spontaneous emission observed in photoluminescence experiments.  相似文献

A scheme is proposed for engineering two-mode squeezed states of two separated cold atomic clouds positioned near the surface of a superconducting stripline resonator. Based on the coherent magnetic coupling between the atomic spins and a stripline resonator mode, the desired two-mode squeezed state can be produced via precisely control on the dynamics of the system. This scheme may be used to realize scalable on-chip quantum networks with cold atoms coupling to stripline resonators.  相似文献
