Chern numbers of ample vector bundles on toric surfaces

This article shows a number of strong inequalities that hold for the Chern numbers , of any ample vector bundle of rank on a smooth toric projective surface, , whose topological Euler characteristic is . One general lower bound for proven in this article has leading term . Using Bogomolov instability, strong lower bounds for are also given. Using the new inequalities, the exceptions to the lower bounds 4e(S)$"> and e(S)$"> are classified.

     

Weights in the cohomology of toric varieties

We describe the weight filtration in the cohomology of toric varieties. We present a role of the Frobenius automorphism in an elementary way. We prove that equivariant intersection homology of an arbitrary toric variety is pure. We obtain results concerning Koszul duality: nonequivariant intersection cohomology is equal to the cohomology of the Koszul complexIH _T ^* (X)⊗H*(T). Darboux-Jouanolou-Ghys integrability for one-dimensional foliations on toric varieties

We use the existence of homogeneous coordinates for simplicial toric varieties to prove a result analogous to the Darboux-Jouanolou-Ghys integrability theorem for the existence of rational first integrals for one-dimensional foliations.     

Ample vector bundles and Bordiga surfaces

Let X be a smooth complex projective variety and let Z ? X be a smooth surface, which is the zero locus of a section of an ample vector bundle ? of rank dimX – 2 ≥ 2 on X. Let H be an ample line bundle on X, whose restriction H _Z to Z is a very ample line bundle and assume that (Z, H _Z ) is a Bordiga surface, i.e., a rational surface having (?², ?? On the intersection theory of the moduli space of rank two bundles

We give an algebro-geometric derivation of the known intersection theory on the moduli space of stable rank 2 bundles of odd degree over a smooth curve of genus g. We lift the computation from the moduli space to a Quot scheme, where we obtain the intersections via equivariant localization with respect to a natural torus action.     

Formality of equivariant intersection cohomology of algebraic varieties

We present a proof that the equivariant intersection cohomology of any complete algebraic variety acted by a connected algebraic group is a free module over .

     

Moduli of rank 4 symplectic vector bundles over a curve of genus 2

Let X be a complex projective curve which is smooth and irreducibleof genus 2. The moduli space ₂ of semistable symplectic vectorbundles of rank 4 over X is a variety of dimension 10. Afterassembling some results on vector bundles of rank 2 and odddegree over X, we construct a generically finite cover of ₂by a family of 5-dimensional projective spaces, and outlinesome applications.     

Globally generated vector bundles of rank 2 on a smooth quadric threefold

We investigate the existence of globally generated vector bundles of rank 2 with _c1≤3$c_1\le 3$ on a smooth quadric threefold and determine their Chern classes. As an automatic consequence, every rank 2 globally generated vector bundle on Q$Q$ with _c1=3$c_1=3$ is an odd instanton up to twist.     

Brill-Noether theory for rank two vector bundles generated by their sections

We here study the Brill-Noether theory for rank two vector bundles generated by their sections. We generalize the vanishing theorem, the Clifford theorem and the existence theorem to such bundles.     

On the conjecture of King for smooth toric Deligne-Mumford stacks

We construct full strong exceptional collections of line bundles on smooth toric Fano Deligne-Mumford stacks of Picard number at most two and of any Picard number in dimension two. It is hoped that the approach of this paper will eventually lead to the proof of the existence of such collections on all smooth toric nef-Fano Deligne-Mumford stacks.     

Asymptotic cohomological functions of toric divisors

We study functions on the class group of a toric variety measuring the rates of growth of the cohomology groups of multiples of divisors. We show that these functions are piecewise polynomial with respect to finite polyhedral chamber decompositions. As applications, we express the self-intersection number of a T-Cartier divisor as a linear combination of the volumes of the bounded regions in the corresponding hyperplane arrangement and prove an asymptotic converse to Serre vanishing.
