The crystal unit‐cell structures and the isothermal crystallization kinetics of poly(L ‐lactide) in biodegradable poly(L ‐lactide)‐block‐methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) (PLLA‐b‐MePEG) diblock copolymers have been analyzed by wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry. In particular, the effects due to the presence of MePEG that is chemically connected to PLLA as well as the PLLA crystallization temperature TC are examined. Though we observe no variation of both the PLLA and MePEG crystal unit‐cell structures with the block ratio between PLLA and MePEG and TC, the isothermal crystallization kinetics of PLLA is greatly influenced by the presence of MePEG that is connected to it. In particular, the equilibrium melting temperature of PLLA, T, significantly decreases in the diblock copolymers. When the TC is high so that the crystallization is controlled by nucleation, because of the decreasing T and thereafter the nucleation density with decreasing PLLA molecular weight, the crystallinity of PLLA also decreases with a decrease in the PLLA molecular weight. While, for the lower crystallization temperature regime controlled by the growth mechanism, the crystallizability of PLLA in copolymers is greater than that of pure PLLA. This suggests that the activation energy for the PLLA segment diffusing to the crystallization site decreases in the diblocks. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Photocurable biodegradable multiblock copolymers were synthesized from poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL) diol and poly(L ‐lactide) (PLLA) diol with 4,4′‐(adipoyldioxy)dicinnamic acid (CAC) dichloride as a chain extender derived from adipoyl chloride and 4‐hydroxycinnamic acid, and they were characterized with Fourier transform infrared and 1H NMR spectroscopy, gel permeation chromatography, wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, and tensile tests. The copolymers were irradiated with a 400‐W high‐pressure mercury lamp from 30 min to 3 h to form a network structure in the absence of photoinitiators. The gel concentration increased with time, and a concentration of approximately 90% was obtained in 90–180 min for all the films. The photocuring hardly affected the crystallinity and melting temperature of the PCL segments but reduced the crystallinity of the PLLA segments. The mechanical properties, such as the tensile strength, modulus, and elongation, were significantly affected by the copolymer compositions and gel concentrations. Shape‐memory properties were determined with cyclic thermomechanical experiments. The CAC/PCL and CAC/PCL/PLLA (75/25) films photocured for 30–120 min showed good shape‐memory properties with strain fixity rates and recovery rates of approximately 100%. The formation of the network structure and the crystallization and melting of the PCL segments played very important roles for the typical shape‐memory properties. Finally, the degradation characteristics of these copolymers were investigated in a phosphate buffer solution at 37 °C with proteinase‐k and Pseudomonas cepacia lipase. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Biodegradable, amphiphilic, four‐armed poly(?‐caprolactone)‐block‐poly(ethylene oxide) (PCL‐b‐PEO) copolymers were synthesized by ring‐opening polymerization of ethylene oxide in the presence of four‐armed poly(?‐caprolactone) (PCL) with terminal OH groups with diethylzinc (ZnEt2) as a catalyst. The chemical structure of PCL‐b‐PEO copolymer was confirmed by 1H NMR and 13C NMR. The hydroxyl end groups of the four‐armed PCL were successfully substituted by PEO blocks in the copolymer. The monomodal profile of molecular weight distribution by gel permeation chromatography provided further evidence for the four‐armed architecture of the copolymer. Physicochemical properties of the four‐armed block copolymers differed from their starting four‐armed PCL precursor. The melting points were between those of PCL precursor and linear poly(ethylene glycol). The length of the outer PEO blocks exhibited an obvious effect on the crystallizability of the block copolymer. The degree of swelling of the four‐armed block copolymer increased with PEO length and PEO content. The micelle formation of the four‐armed block copolymer was examined by a fluorescent probe technique, and the existence of the critical micelle concentration (cmc) confirmed the amphiphilic nature of the resulting copolymer. The cmc value increased with increasing PEO length. The absolute cmc values were higher than those for linear amphiphilic block copolymers. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of aliphatic–aromatic multiblock copolyesters consisting of poly(ethylene‐co‐1,6‐hexene terephthalate) (PEHT) and poly(L ‐lactic acid) (PLLA) were synthesized successfully by chain‐extension reaction of dihydroxyl terminated PEHT‐OH prepolymer and dihydroxyl terminated PLLA‐OH prepolymer using toluene‐2,4‐diisoyanate as a chain extender. PEHT‐OH prepolymers were prepared by two step reactions using dimethyl terephthalate, ethylene glycol, and 1,6‐hexanediol as raw materials. PLLA‐OH prepolymers were prepared by direct polycondensation of L ‐lactic acid in the presence of 1,4‐butanediol. The chemical structures, the molecular weights and the thermal properties of PEHT‐OH, PLLA‐OH prepolymers, and PEHT‐PLLA copolymers were characterized by FTIR, 1H NMR, GPC, TG, and DSC. This synthetic method has been proved to be very efficient for the synthesis of high‐molecular‐weight copolyesters (say, higher than Mw = 3 × 105 g/mol). Only one glass transition temperature was found in the DSC curves of PEHT‐PLLA copolymers, indicating that the PLLA and PEHT segments had good miscibility. TG curves showed that all the copolyesters had good thermal stabilities. The resulting novel aromatic–aliphatic copolyesters are expected to find a potential application in the area of biodegradable polymer materials. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Telechelic poly(ether ketone)s (PEKs) and polyisobutylenes (PIBs) were combined to form PIB? PEK? PIB triblock copolymers and (PIB? PEK)n multiblock copolymers via the formation of urea linkages. Monovalent and bivalent amino telechelic PIBs were prepared quantitatively from allyl telechelic PIBs by a newly developed reaction sequence featuring nucleophilic reaction steps. Telechelic PEK? NCO polymers were prepared from the corresponding amino telechelic PEKs via a reaction with diphosgene. The highly reactive PEK? NCO and PIB? NH2 telechelics formed PEK? PIB block copolymers only quantitatively when appropriately reactive primary amino groups were present on the amino telechelic PIBs. The obtained block copolymers were microphase‐separated and featured mostly lamellar structures, as determined by small‐angle X‐ray scattering (SAXS). Temperature‐dependent SAXS measurements revealed ordered polymers in the melt up to 210 °C. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 43: 188–202, 2005  相似文献

Linear and four‐armed poly(l ‐lactide)‐block‐poly(d ‐lactide) (PLLA‐b‐PDLA) block copolymers are synthesized by ring‐opening polymerization of d ‐lactide on the end hydroxyl of linear and four‐armed PLLA prepolymers. DSC results indicate that the melting temperature and melting enthalpies of poly (lactide) stereocomplex in the copolymers are obviously lower than corresponding linear and four‐armed PLLA/PDLA blends. Compared with the four‐armed PLLA‐b‐PDLA copolymer, the similar linear PLLA‐b‐PDLA shows higher melting temperature (212.3 °C) and larger melting enthalpy (70.6 J g?1). After these copolymers blend with additional neat PLAs, DSC, and WAXD results show that the stereocomplex formation between free PLA molecular chain and enantiomeric PLA block is the major stereocomplex formation. In the linear copolymer/linear PLA blends, the stereocomplex crystallites (sc) as well as homochiral crystallites (hc) form in the copolymer/PLA cast films. However, in the four‐armed copolymer/linear PLA blends, both sc and hc develop in the four‐armed PLLA‐b‐PDLA/PDLA specimen, which means that the stereocomplexation mainly forms between free PDLA molecule and the inside PLLA block, and the outside PDLA block could form some microcrystallites. Although the melting enthalpies of stereocomplexes in the blends are smaller than that of neat copolymers, only two‐thirds of the molecular chains participate in the stereocomplex formation, and the crystallization efficiency strengthens. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Biodegradable, amphiphilic, diblock poly(ε‐caprolactone)‐block‐poly(ethylene glycol) (PCL‐b‐PEG), triblock poly(ε‐caprolactone)‐block‐poly(ethylene glycol)‐block‐poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL‐b‐PEG‐b‐PCL), and star shaped copolymers were synthesized by ring opening polymerization of ε‐caprolactone in the presence of poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether or poly(ethylene glycol) or star poly(ethylene glycol) and potassium hexamethyldisilazide as a catalyst. Polymerizations were carried out in toluene at room temperature to yield monomodal polymers of controlled molecular weight. The chemical structure of the copolymers was investigated by 1H and 13C NMR. The formation of block copolymers was confirmed by 13C NMR and DSC investigations. The effects of copolymer composition and molecular structure on the physical properties were investigated by GPC and DSC. For the same PCL chain length, the materials obtained in the case of linear copolymers are viscous whereas in the case of star copolymer solid materials are obtained with low Tg and Tm temperatures. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Per‐2,3‐acetyl‐β‐cyclodextrin with seven primary hydroxyl groups was synthesized by selective modification and used as multifunctional initiator for the ring‐opening polymerization of ε‐caprolactone (CL). Well‐defined β‐cyclodextrin‐centered seven‐arm star poly(ε‐caprolactone)s (CDSPCLs) with narrow molecular weight distributions (≤1.15) have been successfully prepared in the presence of Sn(Oct)2 at 120 °C. The molecular weight of CDSPCLs was characterized by end group 1H NMR analyses and size‐exclusion chromatography (SEC), which could be well controlled by the molar ratio of the monomer to the initiator. Furthermore, amphiphilic seven‐arm star poly(ε‐caprolactone‐b‐ethylene glycol)s (CDSPCL‐b‐PEGs) were synthesized by the coupling reaction of CDSPCLs with carboxyl‐terminated mPEGs. 1H NMR and SEC analyses confirmed the expected star block structures. Differential scanning calorimetry analyses suggested that the melting temperature (Tm), the crystallization temperature (Tc), and the crystallinity degree (Xc) of CDSPCLs all increased with the increasing of the molecular weight, and were lower than that of the linear poly(ε‐caprolactone). As for CDSPCL‐b‐PEGs, the Tc and Tm of the PCL blocks were significantly influenced by the PEG segments in the copolymers. Moreover, these amphiphilic star block copolymers could self‐assemble into spherical micelles with the particle size ranging from 10 to 40 nm. Their micellization behaviors were characterized by dynamic light scattering and transmission electron microscopy. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Ethylene glycol (EG) initiated, hydroxyl‐telechelic poly(L ‐lactide) (PLLA) was employed as a macroinitiator in the presence of a stannous octoate catalyst in the ring‐opening polymerization of 5‐methyl‐5‐benzyloxycarbonyl‐1,3‐dioxan‐2‐one (MBC) with the goal of creating A–B–A‐type block copolymers having polycarbonate outer blocks and a polyester center block. Because of transesterification reactions involving the PLLA block, multiblock copolymers of the A–(B–A)n–B–A type were actually obtained, where A is poly(5‐methyl‐5‐benzyloxycarbonyl‐1,3‐dioxan‐2‐one), B is PLLA, and n is greater than 0. 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy of the product copolymers yielded evidence of the multiblock structure and provided the lactide sequence length. For a PLLA macroinitiator with a number‐average molecular weight of 2500 g/mol, the product block copolymer had an n value of 0.8 and an average lactide sequence length (consecutive C6H8O4 units uninterrupted by either an EG or MBC unit) of 6.1. For a PLLA macroinitiator with a number‐average molecular weight of 14,400 g/mol, n was 18, and the average lactide sequence length was 5.0. Additional evidence of the block copolymer architecture was revealed through the retention of PLLA crystallinity as measured by differential scanning calorimetry and wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction. Multiblock copolymers with PLLA crystallinity could be achieved only with isolated PLLA macroinitiators; sequential addition of MBC to high‐conversion L ‐lactide polymerizations resulted in excessive randomization, presumably because of residual L ‐lactide monomer. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Biodegradable star‐shaped poly(ethylene glycol)‐block‐poly(lactide) copolymers were synthesized by ring‐opening polymerization of lactide, using star poly(ethylene glycol) as an initiator and potassium hexamethyldisilazide as a catalyst. Polymerizations were carried out in toluene at room temperature. Two series of three‐ and four‐armed PEG‐PLA copolymers were synthesized and characterized by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) as well as 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. The polymerization under the used conditions is very fast, yielding copolymers of controlled molecular weight and tailored molecular architecture. The chemical structure of the copolymers investigated by 1H and 13C NMR indicates the formation of block copolymers. The monomodal profile of molecular weight distribution by GPC provided further evidence of controlled and defined star‐shaped copolymers as well as the absence of cyclic oligomeric species. The effects of copolymer composition and lactide stereochemistry on the physical properties were investigated by GPC and differential scanning calorimetry. For the same PLA chain length, the materials obtained in the case of linear copolymers are more viscous, whereas in the case of star copolymer, solid materials are obtained with reduction in their Tg and Tm temperatures. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Biodegradable copolymers of poly(lactic acid)‐block‐poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PLA‐b‐PCL) were successfully prepared by two steps. In the first step, lactic acid monomer is oligomerized to low molecular weight prepolymer and copolymerized with the (ε‐caprolactone) diol to prepolymer, and then the molecular weight is raised by joining prepolymer chains together using 1,6‐hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) as the chain extender. The polymer was carefully characterized by using 1H‐NMR analysis, gel permeation chromatography (GPC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The results of 1H‐NMR and TGA indicate PLA‐b‐PCL prepolymer with number average molecular weights (Mn) of 4000–6000 were obtained. When PCL‐diols are 10 wt%, copolymer is better for chain extension reaction to obtain the polymer with high molecular weight. After chain extension, the weight average molecular weight can reach 250,000 g/mol, as determined by GPC, when the molar ratio of –NCO to –OH was 3:1. DSC curve showed that the degree of crystallization of PLA–PCL copolymer was low, even became amorphous after chain extended reaction. The product exhibits superior mechanical properties with elongation at break above 297% that is much higher than that of PLA chain extended products. Well‐defined poly(L ‐lactide)‐b‐poly(ethylene oxide) (PLLA‐b‐PEO) copolymers with different branch arms were synthesized via the controlled ring‐opening polymerization of L ‐lactide followed by a coupling reaction with carboxyl‐terminated poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO); these copolymers included both star‐shaped copolymers having four arms (4sPLLA‐b‐PEO) and six arms (6sPLLA‐b‐PEO) and linear analogues having one arm (LPLLA‐b‐PEO) and two arms (2LPLLA‐b‐PEO). The maximal melting point, cold‐crystallization temperature, and degree of crystallinity (Xc) of the poly(L ‐lactide) (PLLA) block within PLLA‐b‐PEO decreased as the branch arm number increased, whereas Xc of the PEO block within the copolymers inversely increased. This was mainly attributed to the relatively decreasing arm length ratio of PLLA to PEO, which resulted in various PLLA crystallization effects restricting the PEO block. These results indicated that both the PLLA and PEO blocks within the block copolymers mutually influenced each other, and the crystallization of both the PLLA and PEO blocks within the PLLA‐b‐PEO copolymers could be adjusted through both the branch arm number and the arm length of each block. Moreover, the spherulitic growth rate (G) decreased as the branch arm number increased: G6sPLLA‐b‐PEO < G4sPLLA‐b‐PEO < G2LPLLA‐b‐PEO < GLPLLA‐b‐PEO. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A copolymerization of macromonomer poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) with a styryl end group (PEOS) and styrene was successfully carried out in the presence of poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL) with 2,2,6,6‐tetramethylpiperidinyl‐1‐oxy end group (PCLT). The resulting copolymer showed a narrower molecular weight distribution and controlled molecular weight. The effect of the molecular weight and concentration of PCLT and PEOS on the copolymerization are discussed. The purity of PEOS exerted a significant effect on the copolymerization; when the diol contents of PEO macromonomer were greater than 1%, the crosslinking product was found. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The phase‐separation behavior of thermoplastic poly(ester‐imide) [P(E‐I)] multiblock copolymers, (A‐B)n, was investigated by a stepwise variation of the imide content. All the multiblock copolymers were synthesized by solution polycondensation with dimethylformamide as a solvent. P(E‐I)s were prepared with anhydride‐terminated polyester prepolymer and diisocyanates. Polyester prepolymers were prepared by the reaction of pyromellitic dianhydride and two different polyols [poly(tetramethylene oxide glycol) (PTMG) and polycaprolactone diol (PCL)]. Structural determination was done with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and Fourier transform NMR, and the molecular weight was determined by gel permeation chromatography. The effect of the imide content on the thermal properties of the synthesized P(E‐I)s was investigated by thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry. The polymers were also characterized for static and dynamic mechanical properties. Thermal analysis data indicated that the polymers based on PTMG were stable up to 330 °C in nitrogen atmosphere and exhibited phase‐separated morphology. Polymers based on PCL showed multistage decomposition, and the films derived from them were too fragile to be characterized for static and dynamic mechanical properties. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Hyperbranched poly(ether sulfone) was prepared in the presence of an oligomeric linear poly(ether sulfone) to generate multiblock hyperbranched‐linear (LxHB) copolymers. The LxHB copolymers were prepared in a two‐step, one‐pot synthesis by first polymerizing AB monomer to generate a linear block of a desired molecular weight followed by addition of the AB2 monomer in a large excess (19:1, AB2:AB) to generate the hyperbranched block. NMR integration analysis indicates that AB2:AB ratio is independent of the reaction time. Because the molecular weight still increases with reaction time, these results suggest that polymer growth continues after consumption of monomer by condensation into a multiblock architecture. The LxHB poly(ether sulfone)s have better thermal stability (10% mass loss > 343 vs. 317 °C) and lower Tg (200 vs. > 250 °C) than the hyperbranched homopolymer, higher Tg than the linear homopolymer (<154 °C), while little difference in the solubility character was observed between the two polymers. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Novel amphiphilic A14B7 multimiktoarm star copolymers composed of 14 poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL) arms and 7 poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) arms with β‐cyclodextrin (β‐CD) as core moiety were synthesized by the combination of controlled ring‐opening polymerization (CROP) and atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). 14‐Arm star PCL homopolymers (CDSi‐SPCL) were first synthesized by the CROP of CL using per‐6‐(tert‐butyldimethylsilyl)‐β‐CD as the multifunctional initiator in the presence of Sn(Oct)2 at 125 °C. Subsequently, the hydroxyl end groups of CDSi‐SPCL were blocked by acetyl chloride. After desilylation of the tert‐butyldimethylsilyl ether groups from the β‐CD core, 7 ATRP initiating sites were introduced by treating with 2‐bromoisobutyryl bromide, which further initiated ATRP of tert‐butyl acrylate (tBA) to prepare well‐defined A14B7 multimiktoarm star copolymers [CDS(PCL‐PtBA)]. Their molecular structures and physical properties were in detail characterized by 1H NMR, SEC‐MALLS, and DSC. The selective hydrolysis of tert‐butyl ester groups of the PtBA block gave the amphiphilic A14B7 multimiktoarm star copolymers [CDS(PCL‐PAA)]. These amphiphilic copolymers could self‐assemble into multimorphological aggregates in aqueous solution, which were characterized by dynamic light scattering (DLS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of novel soluble pyridazinone‐ or pyridazine‐containing poly(arylene ether)s were prepared by a polycondensation reaction. The pyridazinone monomer, 6‐(4‐hydroxyphenyl)pyridazin‐3(2H)‐one ( 1 ), was synthesized from the corresponding acetophenone and glyoxylic acid in a simple one‐pot reaction. The pyridazinone monomer was successfully copolymerized with bisphenol A (BPA) or 1,2‐dihydro‐4‐(4‐hydroxyphenyl)phthalazin‐1(2H)‐one (DHPZ) and bis(4‐fluorophenyl)sulfone to form high‐molecular‐weight polymers. The copolymers had inherent viscosities of 0.5–0.9 dL/g. The glass‐transition temperatures (Tg's) of the copolymers synthesized with BPA increased with increasing content of the pyridazinone monomer. The Tg's of the copolymers synthesized from DHPZ with different pyridazinone contents were similar to those of the two homopolymers. The homopolymers showed Tg's from 202 to 291 °C by differential scanning calorimetry. The 5% weight loss temperatures in nitrogen measured by thermogravimetric analysis were in the range of 411–500 °C. 4‐(6‐Chloropyridazin‐3‐yl)phenol ( 2 ) was synthesized from 1 via a simple one‐pot reaction. 2 was copolymerized with 4,4′‐isopropylidenediphenol and bis(4‐fluorophenyl)sulfone to form high‐Tg polymers. The copolymers with less than 80 mol % pyridazinone or chloropyridazine monomers were soluble in chlorinated solvents such as chloroform. The copolymers with higher pyridazinone contents and homopolymers were not soluble in chlorinated solvents but were still soluble in dipolar aprotic solvents such as N‐methylpyrrolidinone. The soluble polymers could be cast into flexible films from solution. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 44: 3328–3335, 2006  相似文献

This article discusses an effective route to prepare amphiphilic diblock copolymers containing a poly(ethylene oxide) block and a polyolefin block that includes semicrystalline thermoplastics, such as polyethylene and syndiotactic polystyrene (s‐PS), and elastomers, such as poly(ethylene‐co‐1‐octene) and poly(ethylene‐co‐styrene) random copolymers. The broad choice of polyolefin blocks provides the amphiphilic copolymers with a wide range of thermal properties from high melting temperature ~270 °C to low glass‐transition temperature ~?60 °C. The chemistry involves two reaction steps, including the preparation of a borane group‐terminated polyolefin by the combination of a metallocene catalyst and a borane chain‐transfer agent as well as the interconversion of a borane terminal group to an anionic (? O?K+) terminal group for the subsequent ring‐opening polymerization of ethylene oxide. The overall reaction process resembles a transformation from the metallocene polymerization of α‐olefins to the ring‐opening polymerization of ethylene oxide. The well‐defined reaction mechanisms in both steps provide the diblock copolymer with controlled molecular structure in terms of composition, molecular weight, moderate molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn < 2.5), and absence of homopolymer. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The polymerization of 4‐vinylpyridine was conducted in the presence of a cyclic trithiocarbonate (4,7‐diphenyl‐[1,3]dithiepane‐2‐thione) as a reversible addition–fragmentation transfer (RAFT) polymerization agent, and a multiblock polymer with narrow‐polydispersity blocks was prepared. Two kinds of multiblock copolymers of styrene and 4‐vinylpyridine, that is, (ABA)n multi‐triblock copolymers with polystyrene or poly(4‐vinylpyridine) as the outer blocks, were prepared with multiblock polystyrene or poly(4‐vinylpyridine) as a macro‐RAFT agent, respectively.
