We formulate a Hartree–Fock‐LAPW method for electronic band structure calculations. The method is based on the Hartree–Fock–Roothaan approach for solids with extended electron states and closed core shells where the basis functions of itinerant electrons are linear augmented plane waves. All interactions within the restricted Hartree–Fock approach are analyzed and in principle can be taken into account. In particular, we obtained the matrix elements for the exchange interactions of extended states and the crystal electric field effects. To calculate the matrix elements of exchange for extended states, we first introduce an auxiliary potential and then integrate it with an effective charge density corresponding to the electron exchange transition under consideration. The problem of finding the auxiliary potential is solved by using the strategy of the full potential LAPW approach, which is based on the general solution of periodic Poisson's equation. Here, we use an original technique for the general solution of periodic Poisson's equation and multipole expansions of electron densities. We apply the technique to obtain periodic potentials of the face‐centered cubic lattice and discuss its accuracy and convergence in comparison with other methods. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We present a study of the instability and convergence of Hartree–Fock (HF) ab initio solutions for the diatomic systems H2, LiH, CH, C2, and N2. In our study, we consider real molecular orbitals (MOs) and analyze the classes of single‐determinant functions associated to Hartree–Fock–Roothaan (HFR) and Hartree–Fock–Pople–Nesbet (HFPN) equations. To determine the multiple HF solutions, we used either an SCF iterative procedure with aufbau and non‐aufbau ordering rules or the algebraic method (AM). Stability conditions were determined using TICS and ASDW stability matrices, derived from the maximum and minimum method of functions (MMF). We examined the relationship between pure SCF convergence criterion with the aufbau ordering rule, and the classification of the HF solution as an extremum point in its respective class of functions. Our results show that (i) in a pure converged SCF calculation, with the aufbau ordering rule, the solutions are not necessarily classified as a minimum of the HF functional with respect to the TICS or ASDW classes of solutions, and (ii) for all studied systems, we obtained local minimum points associated only with the aufbau rule and the solutions of lower energies. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The Hartree–Fock method (standard Roothaan closed-shell HF –LCAO theory) and the Hartree–Fock–Slater method (restricted HFS –LCAO –DV method developed by Baerends and Ros) have been compared with emphasis on the respective one-electron equations and on the matrix elements of the respective Fock operators. Using the same STO basis in the two cases, the matrix elements of the Fock operators and of their separate one-electron, Coulomb, and exchange contributions have been calculated for the same orbitals and density of the ground state of the diatomic molecule ZnO. The effects of methodical (exchange potential) and numerical (DV method, density fit) differences between the HF and HFS methods on the various matrix elements have been analyzed. As expected the methodical effect prevails and is responsible for the higher (less negative) values of the matrix elements of the HFS Fock operator compared to those of the HF Fock operator. Numerical effects are observable also and are caused by the difference in integration procedures (DV method), not by the density fit.  相似文献

An open‐shell Hartree–Fock (HF) theory for spin‐dependent, two‐component relativistic calculations, termed the Kramers‐unrestricted HF (KUHF) method, is developed. The present KUHF method, which is formulated as a relativistic counterpart of nonrelativistic UHF, is based on quaternion algebra and partly uses time‐reversal symmetry. The fundamental characteristics of KUHF are discussed in this study. From numerical assessments, it was revealed that KUHF gives a corresponding solution to nonrelativistic UHF; furthermore, KUHF properly describes spin‐orbit interactions. In addition, KUHF can improve the self‐consistent field convergence behavior in spin‐dependent calculations, for example, for f‐block elements.  相似文献

The ground state calculations in the combined Hartree–Fock–Roothaan approach are performed for the neutral and the first 20 cationic members of the isoelectronic series of atoms from Be to Ne using noninteger n‐Slater type orbitals. For the total energies obtained, only a small deviation has been found. At the same time, the size of the present noninteger n‐Slater type orbitals is smaller than that of the usual extended integer n‐Slater functions in literature. All of the nonlinear parameters are fully optimized. The relationship between optimized parameters and atomic number Z is also investigated. For each atom, the total energies are given in tables. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Quantum Chem, 2009  相似文献

Using the three‐level energy optimization procedure combined with a refined version of the least‐change strategy for the orbitals—where an explicit localization is performed at the valence basis level—it is shown how to more efficiently determine a set of local Hartree–Fock orbitals. Further, a core–valence separation of the least‐change occupied orbital space is introduced. Numerical results comparing valence basis localized orbitals and canonical molecular orbitals as starting guesses for the full basis localization are presented. The results show that the localization of the occupied orbitals may be performed at a small computational cost if valence basis localized orbitals are used as a starting guess. For the unoccupied space, about half the number of iterations are required if valence localized orbitals are used as a starting guess compared to a canonical set of unoccupied Hartree–Fock orbitals. Different local minima may be obtained when different starting guesses are used. However, the different minima all correspond to orbitals with approximately the same locality. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

This work presents exchange potentials for specific orbitals calculated by inverting Hartree–Fock wavefunctions. This was achieved by using a Depurated Inversion Method. The basic idea of the method relies on the substitution of Hartree–Fock orbitals and eigenvalues into the Kohn–Sham equation. Through inversion, the corresponding effective potentials were obtained. Further treatment of the inverted potential should be carried on. The depuration is a careful optimization which eliminates the poles and also ensures the fullfilment of the appropriate boundary conditions. The procedure developed here is not restricted to the ground state or to a nodeless orbital and is applicable to all kinds of atoms. As an example, exchange potentials for noble gases and term‐dependent orbitals of the lower configuration of Nitrogen are calculated. The method allows to reproduce the input energies and wavefunctions with a remarkable degree of accuracy.  相似文献

We have solved the atomic Hartree–Fock equations by using the algebraic approach, expanding the single-particle radial wave function in terms of a modified Gaussian type orbitals (GTOs) basis. Several atomic properties such as Kato's cusp condition for the electron density or the correct asymptotic behavior of the electron momentum density distribution are accurately verified. Additionally the energy of the atomic ground state can be obtained by using a smaller number of basis functions than in standard GTO expansions. This study has been performed for several atoms of the first three rows. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Int J Quant Chem 65 : 59–64, 1997  相似文献

Hartree–Fock instabilities are investigated for about 80 compounds, from acetylene to mivazerol (27 atoms) and a cluster of 18 water molecules, within a double ζ basis set. For most conjugated systems, the restricted Hartree–Fock wave function of the singlet fundamental state presents an external or so‐called triplet instability. This behavior is studied in relation with the electronic correlation, the vicinity of the triplet and singlet excited states, the electronic delocalization linked with resonance, the nature of eventual heteroatoms, and the size of the systems. The case of antiaromatic systems is different, because they may present a very large internal Hartree–Fock instability. Furthermore, the violation of Hund's rule, observed for these compounds, is put in relation with the fact that the high symmetry structure in its singlet state has no feature of a diradical‐like species. It appears that the triplet Hartree–Fock instability is directly related with the spin properties of nonnull orbital angular momentum electronic systems. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Various forms of the unrestricted Hartree–Fock (UHF ) scheme are studied for a simple three-electron model system, represented by the PPP (Pariser–Parr–Pople) π-electron model of the allyl radical. Both spin and space symmetry are violated in the UHF trial wave function, either individually or simultaneously. A comparison with the projected Hartree–Fock (PHF ) schemes studied earlier is made and the effect of the order in which various symmetries are broken in both UHF and PHF schemes is studied. The effectiveness of various schemes follows from a comparison of the correlation energy and the wave function is obtained by various UHF (or projected UHF ) and PHF schemes, in the whole range of the coupling constant, with the corresponding quantities given by the exact solution of the model. Finally, the implications of the stability of the restricted HF solutions for the behavior of various single- and multiparameter UHF and PHF schemes are briefly outlined and exemplified on the studied model.  相似文献

The sum‐over‐states (SOS) polarizabilities are calculated within approximate mean‐field electron theories such as the Hartree–Fock approximation and density functional models using the eigenvalues and orbitals obtained from the self‐consistent solution of the single‐particle equations. The SOS polarizabilities are then compared with those calculated using the finite‐field (FF) method. Three widely used mean‐field models are as follows: (1) the Hartree–Fock (HF) method, (2) the three parameter hybrid generalized gradient approximation (GGA) (B3LYP), and (3) the parameter‐free generalized gradient approximation due to Perdew–Burke–Ernzerhof (PBE). The comparison is carried out for polarizabilities of 142 molecules calculated using the 6‐311++G(d,p) basis set at the geometries optimized at the B3LYP/6‐311G** level. The results show that the SOS method almost always overestimates the FF polarizabilities in the PBE and B3LYP models. This trend is reversed in the HF method. A few exceptions to these trends are found. The mean absolute errors (MAE) in the screened (FF) and unscreened (SOS) polarizability are 0.78, 1.87, and 3.44 Å3 for the HF, B3LYP, and PBE‐GGA methods, respectively. Finally, a simple scheme is devised to obtain FF quality polarizability from the SOS polarizability. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Quantum Chem, 2008  相似文献

The generator coordinate Hartree–Fock (GCHF) method is employed as a criterion for the selection of a 18s12p Gaussian basis for the atoms Na–Ar. The role of the weight functions in the assessment of the numerical integration range of the GCHF equations is shown. The extended basis is then contracted to (10s6p) by a standard procedure and in combination with the previously contracted (7s5p) Gaussian basis for the atoms Li–Ne is enriched with polarization functions. This basis is tested for AlF, SiO, PN, BCl, and P2. The properties of interest were HF total energies, MP2 dipolar moments, bond distances, and dissociation energies. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. An alternative method to solve the coupled‐perturbed Hartree–Fock (CPHF) equations for infinite quasi–one‐dimensional systems is presented. The new procedure follows a proposal made by Langhoff, Epstein, and Karplus to obtain perturbed wavefunctions free from arbitrary phase factors in each order of perturbation. It is based on the intermediate orthonormalization of the perturbed wavefunctions (which is different from the usual one) and a corresponding selection of the Lagrangian multipliers. In this way it is possible to incorporate the orthonormalization conditions into the set of CPHF equations. Moreover, a new, advantageous procedure to determine the derivatives of the wavefunction with respect to the quasimomentum k is presented. We report calculations of the dipole moment, the polarizability α, and the first hyperpolarizability β for different polymers (poly‐HF, poly‐H2O, trans‐polyacetylene, polyyne, and polycarbonitrile) for different frequencies. These results are extensively compared with oligomer calculations. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Quantum Chem 94: 251–268, 2003  相似文献

The ab initio Hartree–Fock theory has been demonstrated to give accurate geometry predictions for bridged zirconocene dichlorides. Equilibrium geometries of crystallographically characterized bridged zirconocene dichlorides were optimized by Hartree–Fock, MP2, BLYP, and B3LYP methods, with basis sets ranging from 3‐21G* to 6‐311G**. Selected geometrical parameters were compared with experimental crystal structures. The least expensive HF/3‐21G* method proved to be notably accurate. The accuracy of HF/3‐21G* was verified by a comprehensive data set of 62 bridged zirconocene dichlorides. Furthermore, experimental corrections were applied to the optimized geometry parameters to eliminate systematic deviations. Corrections resulted in considerably improved accuracy for systematically overestimated metal–ligand distances, with maximum deviation falling from 0.081 to 0.039 Å, and absolute average deviations from 0.048 to 0.012 Å. Ligand–metal–ligand angles were predicted accurately with absolute average deviations of 0.7–1.3°. Zirconium–chlorine distances and chlorine–zirconium–chlorine angles are relatively constant in the studied molecules. Zirconium–cyclopentadienyl distances can be influenced mainly by modifying the ligand structure, whereas cyclopentadienyl–zirconium– cyclopentadienyl angles and cyclopentadienyl–cyclopentadienyl plane angles can be controlled by bridge modifications. The HF/3‐21G* method can be applied for the estimation of steric effects in zirconocene catalyzed polymerization reactions, therefore being suitable for the construction of structure–polymerization property correlations. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The general methods of deriving the extended Hartree–Fock equations are described. The rules for going over from the energy expression in the ordinary method of calculation to that in an extended one are reformulated and illustrated. The extended Hartree—Fock equations for berylliumlike atomic systems based on the use of nonorthogonal radial orbitals are given and solved. The numerical values of overlap integrals and total energies are given and discussed.  相似文献

We present ab initio methods to determine the Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya (DM) parameter, which provides the anisotropic effects of noncollinear spin systems. For this purpose, we explore various general spin orbital (GSO) approaches, such as Hartree–Fock (HF), density functional theory (DFT), and configuration interaction (CI), with one‐electron spin–orbit coupling (SOC1). As examples, two simple D3h‐symmetric models, H3 and B(CH2)3, are examined. Implications of the computational results are discussed in relation to as isotropic and anisotropic interactions of molecular‐based magnets. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The problem of bond length alternation in cyclic polyene models as described by the Pariser–Parr–Pople π-electron Hamiltonian, together with an empirical quasi harmonic σ-core potential is investigated using the unrestricted Hartree–Fock wave function employing different spatial orbitals for different spins. It is shown that in contrast to the restricted Hartree–Fock method, which favors bond alternation in large cyclic polyenes, the unrestricted Hartree–Fock method stabilizes the symmetric structures with equidistant internuclear separation. An assessment of the amount of correlation error recovered by the unrestricted Hartree–Fock procedure is examined and the qualitatively different behavior of the cyclic polyene models when described by restricted and unrestricted Hartree–Fock wave functions is discussed from this viewpoint.  相似文献

Applications of deflation techniques to the study of excited states of quantum systems are analyzed. It is demonstrated how these methods allow us to transform the excited state problem of one Hamiltonian, into the ground state problem of an auxiliary one. As an example, potential application in the density functional treatment of excited states is discussed. The inclusion of approximations in this scheme, such as the solution of the proposed model within a finite basis set is discussed. An extension of the Hartree–Fock (HF) method to excited states is presented. This new treatment includes previous self consistent field extensions to excited states and provides us with a way to obtain the HF extension to excited states of any ground state method. These results make the excited states of a system accessible through all ground state theoretical techniques. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献
