In this paper, we study the periodicity, the boundedness and the convergence of the following max-type difference equation $$x_n =\max\biggl\{\frac{ 1}{ x_{n-m}} , \frac{A_n }{x_{n-r} }\biggr \},\quad n =0, 1,2,\ldots,$$ where $\{A_{n}\}^{+\infty}_{n=0}$ is a periodic sequence with period k and A n ??(0,1) for every n??0, m??{1,2} and r??{2,3,??} with m<r, the initial values x ?r ,??,x ?1??(0,+??). The special case when $m = 1, r = 2, \{A_{n}\}^{+\infty}_{ n=0}$ is a periodic sequence with period k and A n ??(0,1) for every n??0 has been completely investigated by Y.?Chen. The article on hand deals with the continued fraction $$\frac{1 |}{| z } +\frac{1 |}{| 1 } + \frac{2 |}{| z } +\frac{3 |}{| 1 } + \frac{4 |}{| z} + \cdots.$$ The famous Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan has given a pre-presentation by a power series, but he however concealed a proof. In this paper, we investigate the local and global stability and the period two solutions of all nonnegative solutions of the difference equation,
$$\begin{aligned} x_{n+1} = \frac{ ax_{n}+bx_{n-k}}{A+Bx_{n-k}} \end{aligned}$$
where abAB are all positive real numbers, \(k \ge 1\) is a positive integer, and the initial conditions \(x_{-k},x_{-k+1},...,x_{0}\) are nonnegative real numbers. It is shown that the zero equilibrium point is globally asymptotically stable under the condition \(a+b \le A\), and the unique positive solution is also globally asymptotically stable under the condition \(a-b \le A \le a+b\). By the end, we study the global stability of such an equation through numerically solved examples.

In this note, we shall give conditions which guarantee that \(\frac{1-q^b}{1-q^a}\Big [\begin{array}{l} n\\ m\\ \end{array}\Big ]\in \mathbb {Z}[q]\) holds. We shall provide a full characterisation for \(\frac{1-q^b}{1-q^a}\Big [\begin{array}{l} ka\\ m\\ \end{array}\Big ]\in \mathbb {Z}[q]\). This unifies a variety of results already known in literature. In this paper, two-dimensional convolutional codes constituted by sequences in $(\mathbb F ^n)^{\mathbb{Z }^{2}}$ where $\mathbb F $ is a finite field, are considered. In particular, we restrict to codes with rate $\frac{1}{n}$ and we investigate the problem of minimal dimension for realizations of such codes by separable Roesser models.
