Magnetization and specific heat of Nd0.7Pb0.3MnO3 single crystal are studied at applied magnetic field. Magnetization measurement at 0.3 T shows ferromagnetic phase below 150 K (TC) and below 20 K displays an antiferromagnetic component. The latter appears to be destroyed at 4.8 T. This anomalous increase below 50 K is probably due to reorientation of Nd moments at high magnetic field. Heat capacity has been measured at 0-10 T at low temperature. The data have been fitted to contributions from free electrons (γ), ferromagnetic spin excitations (β3/2), lattice and a Schottky-like anomaly related to the rare-earth magnetism of the Nd ions. Fitting yields that β3/2 term is very small at 6 and 10 T because of introducing paramagnetic component in ferromagnetic phase at applied magnetic field. Peak due to Schottky anomaly is observed to be broadened with application of magnetic field and the magnitude of Schottky gap(ΔSch) also increases accordingly.  相似文献

A Ni54Mn25.7Ga20.3 ferromagnetic shape memory alloy thin film has been fabricated by using the RF magnetron-sputtering technique. The structure and magnetic properties of the film were systematically investigated. The results show that the film is in ferromagnetic martensite state at room temperature with the Curie temperature (Tc) of about 370 K. The saturation magnetization (Ms) of the film reaches 45 emu/g at 300 K, which is about 80% as large as that of Ni–Mn–Ga bulk material. The magnetization hysteresis loops significantly depend on temperatures. The residual magnetization (Mr) and the coercive force (Hc) increase with decreasing temperatures. The grains homogeneously distribute in the film. The microstructure of the film consists of martensite plates. The interface between the martensite variants is clear and straight, indicating a good mobility.  相似文献

Temperature dependences of heat capacity CP(T) and magnetization M(T) of an icosahedral dysprosium boride (DyB62) single crystal have been experimentally investigated in the temperature range of 2-300 K. The magnetic susceptibility χ(T) of DyB62 follows Curie-Weiss law with a paramagnetic Curie temperature of −3.7 K, which implies that the antiferromagnetic interactions are dominant in this material and suggests the possibility of magnetic ordering at low temperatures. This conjecture is supported by the temperature dependence of heat capacity CP(T), which decreases upon heating from 2 to 7 K. The heat capacity of DyB62 at 2 K is analyzed as a sum of magnetic, Debye, two-level system and soft atomic potential components.  相似文献

We report on large negative magnetoresistance observed in ferromagnetic thiospinel compound CuCrZrS4. The electrical resistivity increased with decreasing temperature according to the exp(T0/T)1/2, an expression derived from variable range hopping with strong electron-electron interaction. The resistivity under a magnetic field was expressed by the same form with the characteristic temperature T0 decreasing with increasing magnetic field. Magnetoresistance ratio ρ(T,0)/ρ(T,H) is 1.5 for H=90 kOe at 100 K and increases divergently with decreasing temperature reaching 80 at 16 K. Results of magnetization measurements are also presented. A possible mechanism of the large magnetoresistance is discussed.  相似文献

We investigated magnetocaloric effect in La0.45Pr0.25Ca0.3MnO3 by direct methods (changes in temperature and latent heat) and indirect method (magnetization isotherms). This compound undergoes a first-order paramagnetic to ferromagnetic transition with TC=200 K upon cooling. The paramagnetic phase becomes unstable and it transforms into a ferromagnetic phase under the application of magnetic field, which results in a field-induced metamagnetic transition (FIMMT). The FIMMT is accompanied by release of latent heat and temperature of the sample as evidenced from differential scanning calorimetry and thermal analysis experiments. A large magnetic entropy change of ΔSm=−7.2 J kg−1 K−1 at T=212.5 K and refrigeration capacity of 228 J kg−1 are found for a field change of ΔH=5 T. It is suggested that destruction of magnetic polarons and growth of ferromagnetic phase accompanied by a lattice volume change with increasing magnetic field is responsible for the large magnetocaloric effect in this compound.  相似文献

Double-layered manganite La1.4Ca1.6Mn2O7 has been synthesized using the solid-state reaction method. It had a metal-to-insulator transition at temperature TM1≈127 K. The temperature dependence of ac susceptibility showed a broad ferromagnetic transition. The two-dimensional (2D)-ferromagnetic ordering temperature (TC2) was observed as ≈245 K. The temperature dependence of its low-field magnetoresistance has been studied. The low-field magnetoresistance of double-layered manganite, in the temperature regions between TM1 and TC2, has been found to follow 1/T5. The observed behaviour of temperature dependence of resistivity and low-field magnetoresistance has been explained in terms of two-phase model where ferromagnetic domains exist in the matrix of paramagnetic regions in which spin-dependent tunneling of charge carriers occurs between the ferromagnetic correlated regions. Based on the two-phase model, the dimension of these ferromagnetic domains inside the paramagnetic matrix has been estimated as ∼12 Å.  相似文献

Magnetic and magnetocaloric properties of the compound Ce5Ge4 have been studied. This compound has orthorhombic Sm5Ge4-type structure (space group Pnma, no. 62) and orders ferromagnetically at ~12 K (TC). The paramagnetic Curie temperature is ~−20 K suggesting the presence of competing ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic interactions in this compound. The magnetization does not seem to saturate even in fields of 90 kOe at 3 K consistent with the presence of competing interactions. Saturation magnetization value (extrapolated to 1/H→0) of only 0.8μB/Ce3+ is obtained compared to the free ion value of 2.14μB/Ce3+. This moment reduction in the ordered state of Ce5Ge4 could be due to partial antiferromagnetic/paramagnetic ordering of the Ce moments and may also be due to crystalline electric field effects. Magnetic entropy change near TC, calculated from the magnetization vs. field data, is found to be moderate with a maximum value of ~9 J/kg/K at ~11 K for a field change of 90 kOe.  相似文献

The magnetic phase diagram for Mg1−xZnxCyNi3 has been tentatively constructed based on magnetization and muon spin relaxation (μSR) measurements. The superconducting phase was observed to fade as x (y) increases (decreases). The low y samples show early stages of long-range ferromagnetism, or complete long-range ferromagnetism. In the phase diagram, the ferromagnetic phase exists in addition to the superconducting phase, suggesting that there is some correlation between superconductivity and ferromagnetism, even though the coexistence of ferromagnetism and superconductivity is not observed from the μSR measurements down to 20 mK for the superconducting sample (Tc=2.5 K, (x, y)=(0, 0.9)).  相似文献

The magnetic property of double doped manganite Nd0.5(1+x)Ca0.5(1−x)Mn(1−x)CrxO3 with a fixed ratio of Mn3+:Mn4+=1:1 has been investigated. For the undoped sample, it undergoes one transition from charge disordering to charge ordering (CO) associated with paramagnetic (PM)-antiferromagnetic (AFM) phase transition at T<250 K. The long range AFM ordering seems to form at 35 K, rather than previously reported 150 K. At low temperature, an asymmetrical M-H hysteresis loop occurs due to weak AFM coupling. For the doped samples, the substitution of Cr3+ for Mn3+ ions causes the increase of magnetization and the rise of Tc. As the Cr3+ concentration increases, the CO domain gradually becomes smaller and the CO melting process emerges. At low temperature, the FM superexchange interaction between Mn3+ and Cr3+ ions causes a magnetic upturn, namely, the second FM phase transition.  相似文献

Polycrystalline NdFeAsO0.88F0.12 superconductors prepared by high pressure (HP) and ambient pressure (AP) methods were comparatively studied by magnetization and transport measurements. Upper critical field Hc2, irreversibility field Hirr and the anisotropy parameter Γ were estimated from resistance transition curves. The broadening of transition width was observed, and was ascribed to both Hc2 anisotropy and superconductivity inhomogeneity of samples. Magnetic hysteresis loops (MHLs) in low fields were measured to detect the trace of weak-link behavior. The reclosed hysteresis loops in low fields indicate that there are weak links in both samples. Magnetization critical current density Jcm were derived from MHLs. Sample HP shows higher Jcm than sample AP. Direct transport IV measurements show that the transport critical current density Jct are very low but persist up to 9 T, suggesting intrinsic strong-link existing in both samples.  相似文献

The magnetocaloric effect of the rare-earth intermetallic compound DyCu2 is explored through magnetization measurements. DyCu2 is paramagnetic at the room temperature but becomes antiferromagnetic below 27 K (Neel temperature). Strong temperature and field dependence of magnetization in DyCu2 at and around the Neel temperature lead to a large magnetocaloric effect. An appreciable magnetocaloric effect persists well above the Neel temperature probably because of the presence of short-range ferromagnetic correlations in the paramagnetic state of DyCu2. This along with the absence of magnetic hysteresis lead to a large effective refrigerant capacity of 194 J/kg below 44 K, which makes the material important as a potential magnetic refrigerant for the cryogenic liquefier cycles.  相似文献

We doped Ho3+ in CoFe1.95Ho0.05O4 spinel ferrite by mechanical alloying and subsequent annealing at different temperatures (600-1200 °C). We understood the structural and magnetic properties of the samples using X-ray diffraction, SEM, Thermal analysis (TGA and DTA), and VSM measurement. The samples have shown structural stabilization within cubic spinel phase for the annealing temperature (TAN)≥800 °C. Thermal activated grain growth kinetics has been accompanied with the substantial decrease in lattice strain. The gain size dependent magnetism is evident from the variation of magnetic moment, remanent magnetization and coercivity of the material. The paramagnetic to ferrimagnetic transition temperature TC (∼805 K) seems to be grain size independent in the present material. The magnetic nanograins, either single domain/pseudo-single domain (50-64 nm) or multi-domain (above 64 nm) regime, showed superparamagnetic blocking below Tm, which is below TC (805 K) and also well above the room temperature.  相似文献

The magnetic and superconducting properties of the Sm-doped FeAs-based superconducting compound were investigated under wide ranges of temperature and magnetic field. After the systematical magnetic ion substitution, the superconducting transition temperature decreases with increasing magnetic moment. The hysteresis loop of the La0.87?xSmxSr0.13FeAsO sample shows a superconducting hysteresis and a paramagnetic background signal. The paramagnetic signal is mainly attributed to the Sm moments. The experiment demonstrates that the coexistence of magnetism and superconductivity in the hole doped FeAs-based superconducting compounds is possible. Unlike the electron doped FeAs-based superconducting compounds SmFeAsOF, the hole doped superconductivity is degraded by the substitution of La by Sm. The hole-doped and electron-doped sides are not symmetric.  相似文献

We have studied superconducting properties by measuring the electrical resistivity and magnetization for a single crystal of Rh17S15 with a superconducting transition temperature Tc=5.4 K. The upper critical field Hc2(0) and the lower critical field Hc1(0) were obtained as 20.5 and 0.0033 T, respectively. Correspondingly, the coherence length and the penetration depth were estimated to be 40 and 4900 Å, respectively, indicating that Rh17S15 is a typical type-II superconductor with strong correlations of conduction electrons with a 4d-electron character of Rh atoms. The present electron correlations are formed to be enhanced with increasing pressure.  相似文献

In search for structural contributions to the low temperature anomaly we report high resolution resistance and magnetoresistance measurements (0.02 K ? T ? 20 K) of amorphous splats of Gd67Co33 and Pd80Si20. For both alloys, the resistivity ?(H = 0, T) has a minimum at T ~ 10 K and increases with decreasing T. The ferromagnetic Gd67Co33 shows a strong negative field dependence of Δ??(0), saturating at H ~ 2T for T = 4.2 K but no measurable change in ???T below 10 K is observed. The diamagnetic Pd80Si20 exhibits a positive field dependent magnetoresistance [Δ??(0)](H) at low temperatures. Additionally, a field dependent part in ???T is found which is probably due to paramagnetic impurities (~ 1 ppm Fe). However, there is also a field independent contribution in the amorphous state of Pd80Si20, which vanishes after crystallization. We attribute this to non-magnetic scattering induced by the disordered structure.  相似文献

The magnetic phase diagram of GdAg1?xZnx, an intermetallic solid solution of an antiferromagnet (GdAg: TN = 136 K) and a ferromagnet (GdZn: TC = 269 K), has been elaborated from magnetization measurements. The antiferromagnetic phase boundary TN(x) first passes a broad maximum meeting the ferromagnetic phase boundary TC(x) at x1 = 0.575 and T1 = 72 K, where four phases coexist. On approaching (x1, T1) along TN(x) the magnetization phenomena vanish. At x1 the phase transition still has ferromagnetic appearance but proceeds into a state without spontaneous magnetic moment. Two different ferromagnetic phases (F1, F2) and one ferrimagnetic phase (F3) occur in the composition intervals 0.69 < x1 <1, and 0.61 <x2 < 0.69 and 0.51 < x3 < 0.61. All phase transitions seem to be of second order except th e F1?F2 one at x = 0.69 which is of first order. This phase line meets the paramagnetic to ferromagnetic phase boundary TC(x) in a multicritical point with the coordinates xm = 0.69, Tm = 123 K.Six further mixed magnetic phases, M1, 2, ..., 6, are observed between x = 0.33 and 0.6 below the antiferromagnetic branch and exhibit irreversible thermodynamic properties, such as hysteresis, below about 40 K.Assuming local magnetic interactions only between nearest and next-nearest Gd neighbours, the TN(x) and TC(x) phase boundaries can be described fairly well by a simple model calculation using different exchange parameters for a few relevant distributions of Ag and Zn atoms.  相似文献

Magnetization and magneto-resistance experiments have been carried out on well characterized samples of the GdBaCo2−xFexO5.5 series. Zero field cooled magnetization measurements in the low concentration Fe samples suggest, that the low temperature anti-ferromagnetic phase transforms sequentially to several ferromagnetic phases, before transforming to a paramagnetic state with increase in temperature. The anti-ferromagnetic to the first ferromagnetic phase transition is associated with a large negative magneto-resistance for Fe fractions upto x=0.075. Isothermal magnetization measurements in the ferromagnetic like region of the samples, suggests the presence of mixtures of two ferromagnetic phases. Similar measurements performed at low temperatures where anti-ferromagnetic-like phase is stabilised suggest the presence of a mixture of anti-ferromagnetic and ferromagnetic phases. Magnetization and magneto-resistance are seen to collapse for Fe fractions, x>0.1. Based on these studies a plausible scenario of the evolution of magnetism with Fe substitution in GdBaCo2O5.5, is suggested.  相似文献

Anomalous Hall effect and a large negative magnetoresistance (up to −8.5%) have been found in the high-TC ferromagnetic chalcopyrite (Zn,Mn)GeP2. The elevated manganese concentration in the top diffusion layer grown on ZnGeP2 isolated substrate gives rise to the increased hole conductivity and the temperature dependence of electric resistance ρ(T) typical of a metallic trace which indicate the charge carrier degeneration in combination with ferromagnetism. Additionally, we found a hysteresis of magnetoresistance Δρ/ρ0 vs. H is associated with change in a magnetic order at low temperatures, T<50 K. The effect accompanies the reversal sign of Δρ/ρ0 and is consistent with a singularity of magnetization vs. temperature. These anomalies observed for the first time in the high-TC ferromagnetic chalcopyrites II-IV-V2:Mn are explained by the phenomenological cluster model for ferromagnets.  相似文献

Two methods—the solid-phase high-temperature (1300 °C) and the liquid-phase low-temperature (750 °C) routes—were used to synthesize the complex oxide La1.25Sr0.75MnCoO6, which has the structure of rhombohedral perovskite and is characterized by a disordered distribution of Mn and Co in structural sites. It was found by means of X-ray absorption near edge spectroscopy (XANES) at the K-edge that mixed valence states of Co2+/Co3+ and Mn3+/Mn4+, exist in both phases. Measurements of dc magnetization and real (χ′) and imaginary (χ″) parts of the ac susceptibility showed that the magnetic properties of these oxides are determined by a ferromagnetic transition at TC=217 K and a frequency-dependent transition at Tg<100 K. The high frequency dependence of Tg is indicative of the cluster-glass behavior of La1.25Sr0.75MnCoO6 (7 5 0) at T<TC within the ferromagnetic state.  相似文献
