Colloidal ZnO nanoparticles were prepared in ethanol solutions and annealed at different temperatures (150-500 °C) subsequently. The size, morphology and surface characteristics of ZnO nanoparticles were examined by TEM, XRD, UV-vis absorption spectrum and FTIR technique. With the increase of annealing temperature, the mean size of ZnO nanoparticles was increased from 10 to 90 nm, while the bonding structure of acetate groups coordinating with zinc ions evolved from unidentate to bidentate type. The UV-induced degradation results of methyl orange verified that the photocatalytic process of colloidal ZnO nanoparticles without annealing and the sample annealed at 150 °C was unstable for the weakly bonding unidentate type of acetate groups. However, the sample annealed above 150 °C demonstrated their photocatalytic stability in the whole catalytic process for the stable bidentate bonding type of acetate groups. In addition, the change of particle size in the annealing process significantly affected the catalytic activity of photocatalysts. ZnO nanoparticles annealed at 300 °C would be a prospective photocatalysts with a high catalytic activity and stability compared with the other samples. 相似文献

Particular TiO2 nanoparticles with high selective photocatalytic oxidation of anionic dyes are prepared by a feasible hydrothermal method. Moreover, its photocatalytic selectivity can be easily switched to cationic dyes by a simple post-treatment in ammonia solution, which makes the prepared TiO2 have bi-directional selectivity in dye photodegradation. Based on the photocatalytic performances and the structure and surface characteristics of the catalyst, the bi-directional selectivity of the catalysts is found to be closely related to the adsorption selectivity. The adsorption selectivity originates from surface charge groups, which are introduced during the preparation and post-treatment progresses. This study provides a facile and economical approach towards selective degradation of dyes with high efficiency by the special TiO2 nanoparticles synthesized through a simple hydrothermal method, which may be used practically in the future. 相似文献

Nanoparticles of ZnO with the wurtzite structure have been successfully synthesized via a microwave through the decomposition of zinc acetate dihydrate in an ionic liquid, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide, as a solvent. Fundamental characterizations including X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were conducted for the ZnO nanostructures. To explore the growth mechanism, the samples have been prepared in different irradiation time and also cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) has been used as the capping reagent. 相似文献

β-carotene and annatto extract are typical carotenoids used as safe colorants for foods. However, the instability against irradiation limits their wide use. The improvement of stability was investigated by the intercalation of dye into the interlayer space of the anion-exchangeable clay, hydrotalcite. A hydrophobic environment was constructed in the interlayer space of the hydrotalcite by its modification with anionic surfactants (dodecyl sulfate and dodecylbenzene sulfonate). The lipophilic β-carotene and annatto dye were successfully incorporated into the organo-modified hydrotalcite, and the incorporated dyes exhibited improved photostability under visible irradiation from a 100 W halogen lamp (190 klux) in the air. The effect of the stabilization on the anionic annatto dye was higher by the incorporation in the modified hydrotalcite than that in the modified cation exchangeable clay, suggesting that the polarity of the clay sheet had some influence on the stabilization of the incorporated dye. The stabilization effect of β-carotene was not so significant as that of the annatto dye, because sufficient intercalation of non-polar β-carotene might require stronger hydrophobic environment. The π–π interaction between the β-carotene and the benzene ring of dodecylbenzene sulfonate was found to contribute to the stability enhancement. 相似文献

N-doped titania was prepared continuously by one-step synthetic method under supercritical and subcritical water conditions using titanium(IV)tetraisopropoxide (TTIP) and nitric acid as a titania precursor and nitrogen source, respectively. The synthesized N-doped titania particles were characterized by XRD, N2-adsorption, TEM, XPS, UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. N-doped titania was successfully synthesized and its crystalline structure was homogenous anatase phase with high surface area. The absorption edge of synthesized N-doped titania shifted into the visible light region compared with commercial titania P25. All synthesized N-doped titania have higher photocatalytic activity than P25 under visible light irradiation. The photocatalytic activity of N-doped titania synthesized under supercritical water condition was the highest for the degradation of methyl orange under visible light due to the larger crystallite size compared with the N-doped titania synthesized under subcritical water condition. 相似文献

B-doped together with Ag-loaded mesoporous TiO2 (Ag/B–TiO2) was prepared by a two-step hydrothermal method in the presence of boric acid, triblock copolymer surfactant, and silver nitrate, followed by heat treatment. The obtained samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and nitrogen adsorption–desorption. It was revealed that all samples consist of highly crystalline anatase with mesoporous structure. For Ag/B–TiO2, B was doped into TiO2 matrix in the form of both interstitial B and substitutional B while Ag was deposited on the surface of B–TiO2 in the form of metallic silver. Compared with the single B-doped or Ag-loaded TiO2 one, mesoporous Ag/B–TiO2 exhibits much higher visible light photocatalytic activity for the degradation of Rhodamine 6G, which can be ascribed to the synergistic effects of B doping and Ag loading by narrowing the band gap of the photocatalyst and preventing the fast recombination of the photogenerated charge carriers, respectively. 相似文献

The potential of using encapsulation by MEA, DEA and TEA to control the morphology of ZnO powders was investigated. The crystallite and particle size decreased as a function of aminoalcohol concentration. We found that aminoalcohols can inhibit the crystal growth of ZnO along the c-axis. A steric effect by TEA more strongly influenced the formation of different ZnO shapes than did MEA and DEA. The value of the band gap was dependent on the crystallite size, particle size and particle shape. 相似文献

In the present study we have synthesized CdS semiconducting quantum dots by the chemical precipitation method using Thioglycerol as the capping agent. X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) are employed to characterize the size, morphology and crystalline structure of the as-prepared material. The synthesized QPs have a mixture of cubical and hexagonal crystal symmetry with 12 nm average diameter. Ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) absorption spectroscopy is used to calculate the band gap of the material and blue shift in absorption edge. Confinement of the optical phonon modes in the QPs is studied by Raman spectroscopy, while FTIR for identification of chemical bonds in the nanomaterial. Multiple cadmium and sulphur defects were observed by employing the photoluminescence (PL) method. 相似文献

Surface modification with EDTA molecule: A feasible method to enhance the adsorption property of ZnO
Chong Sun Xuanwei WuHao Meng Xinxin XuJunli Xu Xia Zhang 《Journal of Physics and Chemistry of Solids》2014
Surface-functionalized zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles were synthesized with ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) as a modification agent, which were used as adsorbents in the adsorption of Cu2+ at certain conditions. The transmission electron microscopy (TEM) results show that the average size of ZnO particles is about 45 nm, and it exhibits hexagonal wurtzite structure. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra reveal that the EDTA species are chemically bonded on the surface of ZnO. Compared with bare ZnO particles, the functionalized ZnO nanoparticles have a better activity in the Cu2+ adsorption. The maximum adsorption capacity of functionalized ZnO nanoparticles is 20.97 mg/g, while it is 17.93 mg/g for the bare ZnO. The adsorption isotherm of bare ZnO particles is in accordance with the Freundlich model, and the chemical adsorption is in a dominant position in the adsorption process of Cu2+ on functionalized ZnO particles. 相似文献

Ultrafine nitrogen-doped TiO2 nanoparticles with narrow particle size distribution, good dispersion, and high surface area were synthesized in the presence of urea and PEG-4000 via a hydrothermal procedure. TEM observation, N2 adsorption, XRD, UV-vis spectroscopy, the Raman spectroscopy and XPS analysis were conducted to characterize the synthesized TiO2 particles. The synthesized TiO2 particles were a mixture of 49.5% anatase and 50.5% rutile with a size of around 5 nm. The photocatalytic activities were tested in the degradation of an aqueous solution of a reactive Brilliant Blue KN-R under both UV and visible light. The synthesized TiO2 particles showed much higher photocatalytic activity than a commercial P25 TiO2 powder under both UV and visible light irradiations. The high performance is associated to N doping, the reduced particle size, good dispersion, high surface area, and a quantum size effect. 相似文献

Photocatalytic photodegradation of xanthate over C, N, S-tridoped TiO2 nanotubes under visible light irradiation 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
C, N, S-tridoped TiO2 nanotubes were synthesized via hydrothermal synthesis and post-treatment, and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS), the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller method (BET), and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). The UV-diffuse reflectance spectra of all the C, N, S-tridoped TiO2 nanotubes greatly extended the absorption edge to the visible light region, and the absorbance in the visible region increased with increasing molar ratio of thiourea to Ti (R), which could be attributed to C, N, S-tridoping in the form of cation C-doping, interstitial N-doping, cation S-doping, and adsorbed ions’ states. The photocatalytic activity of C, N, S-tridoped TiO2 nanotubes was evaluated by photocatalytic photodegradation of potassium ethyl xanthate (KEX) under visible light irradiation. It was found that the photocatalytic activity of the prepared samples increased with increasing molar ratio of thiourea to Ti (R). At R=6, the photocatalytic activity of the tridoped sample TNTS-6 reached a maximum value. With further increase in R, photocatalytic activity of the sample decreased, which could be attributed to the high visible light activity resulting from the balance between visible light absorption and recombination of electron/hole pairs. 相似文献

Nanoparticles of cadmium selenide (CdSe) have been synthesized by soft chemical route using mercaptoethanol as a capping agent. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscope measurements show that the prepared sample belongs to sphalerite structure with the average particle size of 25 nm. The band gap of the material is found to be 2.1 eV. The photoluminescence (PL) emission spectra of the sample are measured at various excitation wavelengths. The PL spectra appear in the visible region, and the emission feature depends on the wavelength of the excitation. Impedance spectroscopy is applied to investigate the dielectric relaxation of the sample in a temperature range from 323 to 473 K and in a frequency range from 42 Hz to 1.1 MHz. The complex impedance plane plot has been analyzed by an equivalent circuit consisting of two serially connected R-CPE units, each containing a resistance (R) and a constant phase element (CPE). The dielectric relaxation of the sample is investigated in the electric modulus formalism. The temperature dependent relaxation times obey the Arrhenius law. The Havriliak–Negami model is used to investigate the dielectric relaxation mechanism in the sample. The frequency dependent conductivity spectra are found to obey the power law. 相似文献

The current study investigates the performance of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) based on Al-doped and undoped ZnO nanorod arrays synthesized by a simple hydrothermal method. Current density-voltage (J-V) characterizations indicate that Al-doping in ZnO crystal structure can significantly improve current densities and the energy conversion efficiency (η) of ZnO nanorod-based DSSCs. The maximum η, 1.34%, was achieved in DSSC when Al-doped ZnO nanorod arrays were grown in 0.04 M zinc acetate dihydrate solution with 5 mM aluminum nitrate nonahydrate. This result represents a large increase of η in Al-doped ZnO nanorod-based DSSCs as compared to undoped (0.05%). The improved DSSC photovoltaic performance can be attributed to two main factors: (1) increased light harvesting efficiency due to a large amount of N719 adsorbed on the large surface area of Al-doped ZnO nanorod arrays, and (2) increased electrical conductivity due to A13+ ion doped into the ZnO lattice at the divalent Zn2+ site, allowing electrons to move easily into the Al-doped ZnO conduction band. 相似文献

ZnO, ZnO:Cu and ZnO:Cu:Graphene nanopowders were synthesized via a facile wet chemical method. The XRD studies show that the synthesized samples have hexagonal wurtzite structure. It is found that graphene addition induces a decrease in crystallite size. UV–vis absorption spectra of the samples show sharp absorption edges around 380 nm. Photoluminescence studies reveal that the incorporation of copper and graphene in ZnO facilitates the efficient photo generated electron–hole pair separation. It is found that the ZnO:Cu and ZnO:Cu:Graphene nanopowder exhibit improved photocatalytic efficiency for the photodegradation of Methylene Blue (MB) under visible light irradiation. Moreover, improved antibacterial activity of ZnO:Cu:Graphene nanopowder against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria is observed. 相似文献

Lanthanide tungstates, Ln2W2O9 (Ln=La, Pr, Nd, Sm, and Gd), were prepared via the polymerized complex method at 1273 K for 2 h, and their photocatalytic activities for hydrogen and oxygen evolution were investigated. Pt-loaded Gd2W2O9 exhibited activity for H2 evolution from an aqueous methanol solution under light irradiation (λ>300 nm). The remaining Ln2W2O9 were inactive for H2 evolution due to the influence of the Ln elements and their crystal structures. All Ln2W2O9 were inactive for O2 evolution from an aqueous AgNO3 solution due to the lack of O2 evolution sites on the surface. 相似文献

ZnS nanoparticles were prepared by a simple chemical method and using PVP (poly vinylpyrrolidone) as capping agent. The sample was characterized by UV-vis spectrophotometer, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Z-scan technique. XRD pattern showed that the ZnS nanoparticles had zinc blende structure with an average size of about 2.18 nm. The value of band gap of these nanoparticles was measured to be 4.20 eV. The nonlinear optical properties of ZnS nanoparticles in aqueous solution were studied by Z-scan technique using CW He-Ne laser at 632.8 nm. The nonlinear absorption coefficient (β) was estimated to be as high as 3.2×10−3 cm/W and the nonlinear refractive index (n2) was in order of 10−8 cm2/W. The sign of the nonlinear refractive index obtained negative that indicated this material exhibits self-defocusing optical nonlinearity. 相似文献

We report a facile synthesis of ZnO/Fe2O3 heterostructures based on the hydrolysis of FeCl3 in the presence of ZnO nanoparticles. The material structure, composition, and its optical properties have been examined by means of transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and diffuse reflectance UV–visible spectroscopy. Results obtained show that 2.9 nm-sized Fe2O3 nanoparticles produced assemble with ZnO to form ZnO/Fe2O3 heterostructures. We have evaluated the photodegradation performances of ZnO/Fe2O3 materials using salicylic acid under UV-light. ZnO/Fe2O3 heterostructures exhibited enhanced photocatalytic capabilities than commercial ZnO due to the effective electron/hole separation at the interfaces of ZnO/Fe2O3 allowing the enhanced hydroxyl and superoxide radicals production from the heterostructure. 相似文献

Synthesis of polycationic compounds by the spray-drying technique is an interesting alternative in the domain of aqueous precursor synthesis methods. Spray drying yields high quality samples with good reproducibility. The possibility of scaling up for production of large quantities with fast processing time is well established by the commercial availability of powders of various compositions. In this paper, we have discussed the advantages and limitations of this method and demonstrated its interest by synthesizing a few polycationic compounds selected for their attractive properties of thermoelectricity [Bi1.68Ca2Co1.69O8, La0.95A0.05CoO3 (A=Ca, Sr, Ba)] or magnetoresistance [La0.70A0.30MnO3 (A=Sr, Ba)]. We have confirmed the quality of these samples by reporting their structure, magnetic and transport properties. 相似文献

Preparation, conversion, and comparison of the photocatalytic property of Cd(OH)2, CdO, CdS and CdSe
In this paper, we report the hydrothermal preparation of Cd(OH)2 nanowires and further conversion to CdO nanobelts, CdS nanowires and CdSe nanoparticles through thermal treatment, solvothermal and mixed-solvothermal routes, respectively. The as-obtained products were characterized by means of powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FEMSEM). Research showed that four cadmium compounds were good photocatalysts for the degradation of organic dyes such as Safranine T and Pyronine B, under irradiation of 365 nm UV light. The order of catalytic activity of different materials was found to be Cd(OH)2<CdO<CdS<CdSe. 相似文献

SnO2-pillared titanate nanohybrid has been prepared by reacting the exfoliated layered titanate sheets with the nanosized SnO2 sol particles. The stable two-dimensional colloidal nanosheets could be obtained by intercalating tetrabutylammonium cation into the layered protonic titanate, HxTi2−x/4□x/4O4·H2O (x=0.67) with a lepidocrocite-like structure, and by successive exfoliation process in an aqueous solution. Monodispersed SnO2 nano sol particles were prepared by hydrolysis of SnCl4·5H2O in the presence of sodium hydroxide, and then the exfoliated titanate suspension was mixed with SnO2 nano sol solution until the flocculated products formed. The final product was heated at various temperatures in order to complete the grafting reaction of intercalated SnO2 nano sol on the interlayer surface of layered titanate. Inductive coupled plasma, X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis and N2-adsorption-desorption isotherms were carried out to study the hybridizing process and the structure of SnO2-pillared titanate nanohybrid. 相似文献
