Intriguing properties and functions are expected to implant into metal–organic layers (MOLs) to achieve tailored pore environments and multiple functionalities owing to the synergies among multiple components. Herein, we demonstrate a facile one-pot synthetic strategy to incorporate multiple functionalities into stable zirconium MOLs via secondary ligand pillaring. Through the combination of Zr6-BTB (BTB=benzene-1,3,5-tribenzoate) layers and diverse secondary ligands (including ditopic and tetratopic linkers), 31 MOFs with multi-functionalities were systematically prepared. Notably, a metal–phthalocyanine fragment was successfully incorporated into this Zr-MOL system, giving rise to an ideal platform for the selective oxidation of anthracene. The organic functionalization of two-dimensional MOLs can generate tunable porous structures and environments, which may facilitate the excellent catalytic performance of as-synthesized materials.  相似文献

Metal–organic layers (MOLs) represent an emerging class of tunable and functionalizable two‐dimensional materials. In this work, the scalable solvothermal synthesis of self‐supporting MOLs composed of [Hf6O4(OH)4(HCO2)6] secondary building units (SBUs) and benzene‐1,3,5‐tribenzoate (BTB) bridging ligands is reported. The MOL structures were directly imaged by TEM and AFM, and doped with 4′‐(4‐benzoate)‐(2,2′,2′′‐terpyridine)‐5,5′′‐dicarboxylate (TPY) before being coordinated with iron centers to afford highly active and reusable single‐site solid catalysts for the hydrosilylation of terminal olefins. MOL‐based heterogeneous catalysts are free from the diffusional constraints placed on all known porous solid catalysts, including metal–organic frameworks. This work uncovers an entirely new strategy for designing single‐site solid catalysts and opens the door to a new class of two‐dimensional coordination materials with molecular functionalities.  相似文献

Microenvironments in enzymes play crucial roles in controlling the activities and selectivities of reaction centers. Herein we report the tuning of the catalytic microenvironments of metal–organic layers (MOLs), a two‐dimensional version of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) with thickness down to a monolayer, to control product selectivities. By modifying the secondary building units (SBUs) of MOLs with monocarboxylic acids, such as gluconic acid, we changed the hydrophobicity/hydrophilicity around the active sites and fine‐tuned the selectivity in photocatalytic oxidation of tetrahydrofuran (THF) to exclusively afford butyrolactone (BTL), likely a result of prolonging the residence time of reaction intermediates in the hydrophilic microenvironment of catalytic centers. Our work highlights new opportunities in using functional MOLs as highly tunable and selective two‐dimensional catalytic materials.  相似文献

We report the rational design of metal–organic layers (MOLs) that are built from [Hf6O4(OH)4(HCO2)6] secondary building units (SBUs) and Ir[bpy(ppy)2]+‐ or [Ru(bpy)3]2+‐derived tricarboxylate ligands (Hf‐BPY‐Ir or Hf‐BPY‐Ru; bpy=2,2′‐bipyridine, ppy=2‐phenylpyridine) and their applications in X‐ray‐induced photodynamic therapy (X‐PDT) of colon cancer. Heavy Hf atoms in the SBUs efficiently absorb X‐rays and transfer energy to Ir[bpy(ppy)2]+ or [Ru(bpy)3]2+ moieties to induce PDT by generating reactive oxygen species (ROS). The ability of X‐rays to penetrate deeply into tissue and efficient ROS diffusion through ultrathin 2D MOLs (ca. 1.2 nm) enable highly effective X‐PDT to afford superb anticancer efficacy.  相似文献

Two‐dimensional (2D) metal‐organic layers (MOLs) are the 2D version of metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) with nanometer thickness in one dimension. MOLs are also known as 2D‐MOFs, 2D coordination polymers, ultrathin MOF nanosheets (UMOFNs) or coordination nanosheets in literature. This new category of 2D materials has attracted a lot of interests because of the opportunity in combining molecular chemistry, surface/interface chemistry and material chemistry of low dimensional materials in these systems. Several synthetic strategies have been developed for the construction of 2D MOLs, but the general synthesis of MOLs still presents a challenge. This tutorial level review summarizes the recent progress in the fabrication of novel 2D MOLs and aims to highlight challenges in this field.  相似文献

In the title mixed‐ligand metal–organic polymeric compound, [Cd(C10H8O4)(C8H12N6)]n or [Cd(PBEA)(BTB)]n [H2PBEA is benzene‐1,4‐diacetic acid and BTB is 1,4‐bis(1,2,4‐triazol‐1‐yl)butane], the asymmetric unit contains one CdII ion, one BTB molecule and one PBEA2− anion. The CdII ion is in a slightly distorted pentagonal–bipyramidal geometry, coordinated by five carboxylate O atoms from three distinct PBEA2− anions and by two BTB N atoms. There are two coordination patterns for the carboxylate groups of the PBEA2− ligand, one being a μ1‐η11 chelating mode and the other a μ2‐η21 bridging mode, while the BTB molecule shows a transtranstrans conformation. The crystal structure is constructed from the secondary building unit (SBU) [Cd2(CO2)4N2O2], in which the two metal centres are held together by two PBEA2− linkers. The SBU is connected by BTB and PBEA2− bridges to form a two‐dimensional grid‐like (4,4) layer with meshes of dimensions 14.69 × 11.28 Å.  相似文献

The highly porous and stable metal–organic framework (MOF) UiO‐66 was altered using post‐synthetic modifications (PSMs). Prefunctionalization allowed the introduction of carbon double bonds into the framework through a four‐step synthesis from 2‐bromo‐1,4‐benzenedicarboxylic acid; the organic linker 2‐allyl‐1,4‐benzenedicarboxylic acid was obtained. The corresponding functionalized MOF (UiO‐66‐allyl) served as a platform for further PSMs. From UiO‐66‐allyl, epoxy, dibromide, thioether, diamine, and amino alcohol functionalities were synthesized. The abilities of these compounds to adsorb CO2 and N2 were compared, which revealed the structure–selectivity correlations. All synthesized MOFs showed profound thermal stability together with an increased ability for selective CO2 uptake and molecular gate functionalities at low temperatures.  相似文献

To increase the red blood cell (RBC) cryopreservation efficiency by metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), a dimensional reduction approach has been proposed. Namely, 3D MOF nanoparticles are progressively reduced to 2D ultra-thin metal–organic layers (MOLs). We found that 2D MOLs are beneficial for enhanced interactions of the interfacial hydrogen-bonded water network and increased utilization of inner ordered structures, due to the higher surface-to-volume ratio. Specifically, a series of hafnium (Hf)-based 2D MOLs with different thicknesses (monolayer to stacked multilayers) and densities of hydrogen bonding sites have been synthesized. Both ice recrystallization inhibition activity (IRI) and RBCs cryopreservation assay confirm the pronounced better IRI activity and excellent cell recovery efficiency (up to ≈63 % at a very low concentration of 0.7 mg mL−1) of thin-layered Hf-MOLs compared to their 3D counterparts, thereby verifying the dimensional reduction strategy to improved cryoprotectant behaviors.  相似文献

Host‐guest encapsulation of functional organic dye into a porous metal‐organic framework can give rise to the development of new functional materials. In this work, by intercalating the stilbazolium‐type dye (DEAST)I (4′‐diethylamino‐N‐methyl stilbazolium) into four lanthanide layered metal‐organic complexes (Ln‐LMOCs), i. e. {[Ln(BTB)(H2O)2]?3(DMF)?2(H2O)}n (Ln=La (1), Nd (2), Sm (3), Er (4)), four responsive (DEAST)I@Ln‐LMOC composites have been prepared, serving as multifunctional performance platform. The core–shell structures of (DEAST)I@Ln‐LMOC composites have been fully characterized by IR, UV/Vis, PXRD, SEM, TEM, TGA and ESR. Significantly, after intercalation of dyes, the (DEAST)I@Ln‐LMOC composites exhibit enhanced luminescent sensing properties in detecting Fe3+ with much higher water stabilities. The luminescent sensing behavior stems from the fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) from the π‐electron‐rich BTB ligands to the Fe3+, and their higher water stabilities are induced by electrostatic interactions and lower porosity. Specially, the characteristic emissions of Sm3+ will not be affected after the encapsulation guest dyes, which provide a theoretical guide for the modulation of luminescence devices. Finally, better ion conductivities and diminished photocurrents can be achieved after the embedding of the functional organic dye. In all, the formation of (DEAST)I@Ln‐LMOC composites with core–shell structures can be utilized as a multifunctional platform with good stability.  相似文献

Assimilation of open metal sites (OMSs) and free functional organic sites (FOSs) with a framework strut has opened up a new route for the fabrication of novel metal–organic materials, thereby providing a unique opportunity to explore their multiple functionalities. A new metal–organic framework (MOF), {[Cu(ina)2(H2O)][Cu(ina)2(bipy)]?2 H2O}n ( 1 ) (ina=isonicotinate, bipy=4,4′‐bipyridine), has been synthesized and characterized. Complex 1 is crystallized in the orthorhombic noncentrosymmetric space group Aba2 and consists of two different 2D coordination polymers, [Cu(ina)2(H2O)]n and [Cu(ina)2(bipy)]n, with entrapped solvent water molecules. Hydrogen‐bonding interactions assemble these two different 2D coordination layers in a single‐crystal structure with interdigitation of pendant 4,4′‐bipy from one layer into the groove of another. Upon removal of guest molecules, 1 undergoes a structural transformation in single‐crystal‐to‐single‐crystal fashion with expansion of the effective void space. Each metal center is five‐coordinated and thus can potentially behave as an OMS, and the free pyridyl groups of pendant 4,4′‐bipy moieties and free ? C?O groups can act as free FOSs. Thus, owing to presence of both OMSs and free FOSs, the framework exhibits multifunctional properties. Owing to the presence of OMSs, the framework can act as a Lewis acid catalyst as well as a small‐molecule sensor material, and in a similar way, owing to the presence of free FOSs, it performs as a Lewis base catalyst and a cation sensor material. Furthermore, owing to noncentrosymmetry with large polarity along a particular direction, it shows strong second‐harmonic generation/nonlinear optical (SHG‐NLO) activity.  相似文献

In the title mixed‐ligand metal–organic polymeric complex, {[Co(NCS)2(C8H12N6)2]·2H2O}n, the asymmetric unit contains a divalent CoII cation, which sits on an inversion centre, two halves of two crystallographically distinct and centrosymmetric 1,4‐bis(1,2,4‐triazol‐1‐yl)butane (BTB) ligands, one N‐bound thiocyanate ligand and one solvent water molecule. The CoII atom possesses a distorted {CoN6} octahedral geometry, with the equatorial positions taken up by triazole N atoms from four different BTB ligands. The axial positions are filled by thiocyanate N atoms. In the crystal, each CoII atom is linked covalently to four others through the distal donors of the tethering BTB ligands, forming a neutral (4,4)‐topology two‐dimensional rhomboid grid layer motif, which is coincident with the (11) crystal planes. Magnetic investigations show that weak antiferromagnetic coupling exists between CoII atoms in the complex.  相似文献

The secondary building units in metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are commonly well‐defined metal–oxo clusters or chains with very limited structural strain. Herein, the structurally deformable haloplumbate units that are often observed in organolead halide perovskites have been successfully incorporated into MOFs. The resultant materials are a rare class of isoreticular MOFs exhibiting large Stokes‐shifted broadband white‐light emission, which is probably induced by self‐trapped excitons from electron–phonon coupling in the deformable, zigzag [Pb2X3]+ (X=Cl, Br, or I) chains. In contrast, MOFs with highly symmetric, robust haloplumbate chains only exhibit narrow UV–blue photoemission. The designed MOF‐based intrinsic white‐light photoemitters have a number of advantages over hybrid inorganic–organic perovskites in terms of stability and tunability, including moisture resistance, facile functionalization of photoactive moieties onto the organic linkers, introduction of luminescent guests.  相似文献

Combining experiment with theory reveals the role of self‐assembly and complexation in metal‐ion transfer through the water–oil interface. The coordinating metal salt Eu(NO3)3 was extracted from water into oil by a lipophilic neutral amphiphile. Molecular dynamics simulations were coupled to experimental spectroscopic and X‐ray scattering techniques to investigate how local coordination interactions between the metal ion and ligands in the organic phase combine with long‐range interactions to produce spontaneous changes in the solvent microstructure. Extraction of the Eu3+–3(NO3?) ion pairs involves incorporation of the “hard” metal complex into the core of “soft” aggregates. This seeds the formation of reverse micelles that draw the water and “free” amphiphile into nanoscale hydrophilic domains. The reverse micelles interact through attractive van der Waals interactions and coalesce into rod‐shaped polynuclear EuIII‐containing aggregates with metal centers bridged by nitrate. These preorganized hydrophilic domains, containing high densities of O‐donor ligands and anions, provide improved EuIII solvation environments that help drive interfacial transfer, as is reflected by the increasing EuIII partitioning ratios (oil/aqueous) despite the organic phase approaching saturation. For the first time, this multiscale approach links metal‐ion coordination with nanoscale structure to reveal the free‐energy balance that drives the phase transfer of neutral metal salts.  相似文献

A new mixed‐ligand metal–organic framework (MOF), ZnATZ‐BTB, has been constructed as a luminescent ratiometric thermometer by making use of the intrinsic dual emission at cryogenic temperatures. Its twofold interpenetrated network promotes the Dexter energy transfer (DET) between the mixed organic lumophores. The temperature‐dependent luminescent behavior arises from the thermal equilibrium between two separated excited states coupled by DET, which is confirmed by Boltzmann distribution fitting. The small excited‐state energy gap allows ZnATZ‐BTB to measure and visualize cryogenic temperatures (30–130 K) with significantly high relative sensitivity (up to 5.29 % K?1 at 30 K). Moreover, it is the first example of a ratiometric MOF thermometer the dual emitting sources of which are widely applicable mixed organic ligands, opening up new opportunities for designing such devices.  相似文献

Thickness of two-dimensional (2D) metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) govern their intriguing functionalities. Primarily this thickness is controlled by the stacking between the metal-organic layers (MOL). It is observed that until now such modulating factors for stacking efficiency of MOL are not well studied. Here, we report a fundamental hypothesis to comprehend regulation of stacking efficiency among MOLs as a function of chemical structure of organic ligands (dicarboxylic acids and pillar linkers). This basically involves a series of isostructural three-dimensional (3D) MOFs which contain linkers of variable chemical nature that could be depillared to generate 2D stacked MOFs of different thickness. Depending on the linkers, we encountered the formation of single MOL to stacked multiple MOLs as evidenced from atomic force microscopic and other experimental analysis. The present study gives a concrete correlation between the stacking within 2D MOFs (from monolayer to multilayers), and their 3D counter parts, which may provide a thickness tuning pathway for 2D MOFs.  相似文献

We report star polymer metal–organic cage (polyMOC) materials whose structures, mechanical properties, functionalities, and dynamics can all be precisely tailored through a simple three‐component assembly strategy. The star polyMOC network is composed of tetra‐arm star polymers functionalized with ligands on the chain ends, small molecule ligands, and palladium ions; polyMOCs are formed via metal–ligand coordination and thermal annealing. The ratio of small molecule ligands to polymer‐bound ligands determines the connectivity of the MOC junctions and the network structure. The use of large M12L24 MOCs enables great flexibility in tuning this ratio, which provides access to a rich spectrum of material properties including tunable moduli and relaxation dynamics.  相似文献

A new layered Ca–succinate coordination polymer, poly[μ3‐succinato‐calcium(II)], [Ca(C4H5O4)]n, was synthesized by reaction of CaCl2·2H2O and succinic acid in an aqueous medium under hydrothermal microwave conditions. The structure contains infinite layers of edge‐sharing calcium pentagonal–bipyramidal polyhedra forming six‐membered rings connected through succinate ligands. Such an assembly of inorganic building units is unique for calcium metal–organic framework‐type structures. Adjacent layers are packed into a final pseudo‐three‐dimensional structure through weak C—H...O hydrogen bonds.  相似文献

Progress toward the preparation of porous organic polymers (POPs) with task‐specific functionalities has been exceedingly slow—especially where polymers containing low‐oxidation phosphorus in the structure are concerned. A two‐step topotactic pathway for the preparation of phosphabenzene‐based POPs (Phos‐POPs) under metal‐free conditions is reported, without the use of unstable phosphorus‐based monomers. The synthetic route allows additional functionalities to be introduced into the porous polymer framework with ease. As an example, partially fluorinated Phos‐POPs (F‐Phos‐POPs) were obtained with a surface area of up to 591 m2 g?1. After coordination with Ru species, a Ru/F‐Phos‐POPs catalyst exhibited high catalytic efficiency in the formylation of amines (turnover frequency up to 204 h?1) using a CO2/H2 mixture, in comparison with the non‐fluorinated analogue (43 h?1) and a Au/TiO2 heterogeneous catalysts reported previously (<44 h?1). This work describes a practical method for synthesis of porous organic phosphorus‐based polymers with applications in transition‐metal‐based heterogeneous catalysis.  相似文献

A flexible, yet very stable metal–organic framework (DUT‐98, Zr6O4(OH)4(CPCDC)4(H2O)4, CPCDC=9‐(4‐carboxyphenyl)‐9H ‐carbazole‐3,6‐dicarboxylate) was synthesized using a rational supermolecular building block approach based on molecular modelling of metal–organic chains and subsequent virtual interlinking into a 3D MOF. Structural characterization via synchrotron single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction (SCXRD) revealed the one‐dimensional pore architecture of DUT‐98, envisioned in silico. After supercritical solvent extraction, distinctive responses towards various gases stimulated reversible structural transformations, as detected using coupled synchrotron diffraction and physisorption techniques. DUT‐98 shows a surprisingly low water uptake but a high selectivity for pore opening towards specific gases and vapors (N2, CO2, n ‐butane, alcohols) at characteristic pressure resulting in multiple steps in the adsorption isotherm and hysteretic behavior upon desorption.  相似文献
