A method for constructing statistically similar representative volume elements (SSRVEs) for a real dual-phase (DP) steel microstructure is presented in this contribution. The advantageous material properties of such kind of steels originate from the interaction of the microstructure constituents of the material on the microscale. In order to capture these effects directly in the material modeling, the FE2 method is a suitable tool, where an RVE representing the microstructure of a material is used in the microscopic boundary value problem, which is solved at each Gauss-point of the macroscopic boundary value problem. However, RVEs based on real microstructures typically implicate high computational expenses due to the complexity of the underlying microstructure and its discretization. SSRVEs, which have a lower complexity than conventional RVEs but are still able to represent the material, can be used instead. This paper gives distributional properties of geometrical characteristics of a Voronoi tessellation generated by a stationary Poisson point process. The considerations are based on a well-known formula given by [10] describing size and shape of a cell of the Delaunay tessellation and on the close connection between Delaunay and Voronoi tessellation. Several results are given for the two-dimensional case, but the main part is the investigation of the three-dimensional case. They include the density functions of the angles perpendicular to the ‘typical’ edge, spanned by two neighbouring Poisson points and that spanned by two neighbouring faces, the angle between two edges emanating from the ‘typical’ vertex, the distance of two neighbouring Poisson points, the angle between two edges emanating from the ‘typical’ vertex of the Poisson Voronoi tessellation and some others. Modern dual-phase (DP) steels are widely used in industry due to their favorable material behavior based on the complex microstructure. In the presented work, a microstructure based FEM model for the elasto-plastic deformation of DP steels is developed in order to accomplish a deeper understanding of the structure-property correlation. The underlying microstructure is obtained by serial section tomography. One of the major challenges associated with the measurement of customer lifetime value is selecting an appropriate model for predicting customer future transactions. Among such models, the Pareto/negative binomial distribution (Pareto/NBD) is the most prevalent in noncontractual relationships characterized by latent customer defections; ie, defections are not observed by the firm when they happen. However, this model and its applications have some shortcomings. Firstly, a methodological shortcoming is that the Pareto/NBD, like all lifetime transaction models based on statistical distributions, assumes that the number of transactions by a customer follows a Poisson distribution. However, many applications have an empirical distribution that does not fit a Poisson model. Secondly, a computational concern is that the implementation of Pareto/NBD model presents some estimation challenges specifically related to the numerous evaluation of the Gaussian hypergeometric function. Finally, the model provides 4 parameters as output, which is insufficient to link the individual purchasing behavior to socio‐demographic information and to predict the behavior of new customers. In this paper, we model a customer's lifetime transactions using the Conway‐Maxwell‐Poisson distribution, which is a generalization of the Poisson distribution, offering more flexibility and a better fit to real‐world discrete data. To estimate parameters, we propose a Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithm, which is easy to implement. Use of this Bayesian paradigm provides individual customer estimates, which help link purchase behavior to socio‐demographic characteristics and an opportunity to target individual customers.  相似文献

This article presents a class of models in stochastic geometry that are constructed by random measures. This class includes well‐known point processes such as Matérn's hard‐core processes, the tangent point process of the Boolean model, and the point process of vertices of the Poisson Voronoi tessellation. Sufficient conditions for measurability, stationarity and isotropy of the processes of this class are given, as well as formulae for the intensity measure. Furthermore, a property of the Palm distributions can be interpreted as a generalization of Slivnyak's theorem.  相似文献

In this paper, we elaborate how Poisson regression models of different complexity can be used in order to model absolute transaction price changes of an exchange‐traded security. When combined with an adequate autoregressive conditional duration model, our modelling approach can be used to construct a complete modelling framework for a security's absolute returns at transaction level, and thus for a model‐based quantification of intraday volatility and risk. We apply our approach to absolute price changes of an option on the XETRA DAX index based on quote‐by‐quote data from the EUREX exchange and find that within our Bayesian framework a Poisson generalized linear model (GLM) with a latent AR(1) process in the mean is the best model for our data according to the deviance information criterion (DIC). While, according to our modelling results, the price development of the underlying, the intrinsic value of the option at the time of the trade, the number of new quotations between two price changes, the time between two price changes and the Bid–Ask spread have significant effects on the size of the price changes, this is not the case for the remaining time to maturity of the option. This contribution presents a method to construct three-dimensional Statistically Similar RVEs (SSRVEs) for the simulation of dual phase steel (DP steel). Since the microstructure of DP steel strongly influences the overall material properties, it should be incorporated in numerical calculations. For this purpose the FE2 method can be applied and for an efficient computation SSRVEs with a reduced complexity compared to the real microstructure have to be defined, which still represent the mechanical response of the material accurately. The construction method is based on the minimization of a least-square functional considering suitable statistical measures describing the inclusion morphology of a given real microstructure. Image segmentation is a hot topic in image science. In this paper we present a new variational segmentation model based on the theory of Mumford-Shah model. The aim of our model is to divide noised image, according to a certain criterion, into homogeneous and smooth regions that should correspond to structural units in the scene or objects of interest. The proposed region-based model uses total variation as a regularization term, and different fidelity term can be used for image segmentation in the cases of physical noise, such as Gaussian, Poisson and multiplicative speckle noise. Our model consists of five weighted terms, two of them are responsible for image denoising based on fidelity term and total variation term, the others assure that the three conditions of adherence to the data, smoothing, and discontinuity detection are met at once. We also develop a primal-dual hybrid gradient algorithm for our model. Numerical results on various synthetic and real images are provided to compare our method with others,these results show that our proposed model and algorithms are effective.  相似文献

Here, we present a surrogate model that rapidly predicts the microstructures of a binary-alloy thin film during physical vapor deposition. This surrogate model is constructed and trained from a data set produced by phase-field simulations of physical vapor deposition. It relies on a statistical representation of the microstructure, principal component analysis, polynomial chaos expansion, and a microstructure-reconstruction algorithm to estimate the microstructure as a function of the deposition parameters and properties of the materials being deposited. This protocol, exercised on a simplified physical vapor deposition model, demonstrates the efficacy of the surrogate model to rapidly predict a broad class of microstructures as a function of deposition conditions with good accuracy relative to high-fidelity models. The considerable computational gain from the surrogate model compared to the detailed phase-field approach highlights the importance of pursuing such approaches, especially when used for producing parameter-microstructure maps for rapid and accurate predictions of the microstructure. As such, this surrogate model can be used to guide the choice of deposition conditions and materials being deposited to fabricate functional thin films with targeted microstructures.  相似文献

Processes of autocorrelated Poisson counts can often be modelled by a Poisson INAR(1) model, which proved to apply well to typical tasks of SPC. Statistical properties of this model are briefly reviewed. Based on these properties, we propose a new control chart: the combined jumps chart. It monitors the counts and jumps of a Poisson INAR(1) process simultaneously. As the bivariate process of counts and jumps is a homogeneous Markov chain, average run lengths (ARLs) can be computed exactly with the well‐known Markov chain approach. Based on an investigation of such ARLs, we derive design recommendations and show that a properly designed chart can be applied nearly universally. We describe an algorithm for the construction of discretized Voronoi diagrams on a CPU within the context of a large scale numerical fluid simulation. The Discrete Voronoi Chain (DVC) algorithm is fast, flexible and robust. The algorithm stores the Voronoi diagram on a grid or lattice that may be structured or unstructured. The Voronoi diagram is computed by alternatively updating two lists of grid cells per particle to propagate a growth boundary of cells from the particle locations. Distance tests only occur when growth boundaries from different particles collide with each other, hence the number of distance tests is effectively minimized. We give some empirical results for two and three dimensions. The method generalizes to any dimension in a straight forward manner. The distance tests can be based any metric.  相似文献

We consider the two‐dimensional Vlasov‐Poisson system to model a two‐component plasma whose distribution function is constant with respect to the third space dimension. First, we show how this two‐dimensional Vlasov‐Poisson system can be derived from the full three‐dimensional model. The existence of compactly supported steady states with vanishing electric potential in a three‐dimensional setting has already been investigated in the literature. We show that these results can easily be adapted to the two‐dimensional system. However, our main result is to prove the existence of compactly supported steady states even with a nontrivial self‐consistent electric potential.  相似文献

This paper presents a method for the determination of the distribution function of the length of the 'typical' edge of the Poisson Voronoi tessellation. The method is based on distributional properties of the configuration of the centres in the neighbourhood of the 'typical' vertex. The distribution and density functions of the edge lengths are given in double integral form for various dimensions. Analogous characteristics are considered for two-dimensional sections through higher-dimensional Poisson Voronoi tessellations.  相似文献

A random graph model based on Kronecker products of probability matrices has been recently proposed as a generative model for large‐scale real‐world networks such as the web. This model simultaneously captures several well‐known properties of real‐world networks; in particular, it gives rise to a heavy‐tailed degree distribution, has a low diameter, and obeys the densification power law. Most properties of Kronecker products of graphs (such as connectivity and diameter) are only rigorously analyzed in the deterministic case. In this article, we study the basic properties of stochastic Kronecker products based on an initiator matrix of size two (which is the case that is shown to provide the best fit to many real‐world networks). We will show a phase transition for the emergence of the giant component and another phase transition for connectivity, and prove that such graphs have constant diameters beyond the connectivity threshold, but are not searchable using a decentralized algorithm. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Overdispersion in time series of counts is very common and has been well studied by many authors, but the opposite phenomenon of underdispersion may also be encountered in real applications and receives little attention. Based on popularity of the generalized Poisson distribution in regression count models and of Poisson INGARCH models in time series analysis, we introduce a generalized Poisson INGARCH model, which can account for both overdispersion and underdispersion. Compared with the double Poisson INGARCH model, conditions for the existence and ergodicity of such a process are easily given. We analyze the autocorrelation structure and also derive expressions for moments of order 1 and 2. We consider the maximum likelihood estimators for the parameters and establish their consistency and asymptotic normality. We apply the proposed model to one overdispersed real example and one underdispersed real example, respectively, which indicates that the proposed methodology performs better than other conventional model-based methods in the literature.  相似文献

随着计算能力的不断发展,近年来基于材料微结构图像的材料等效性能数值模拟越来越受到学者们的重视.在此背景下,提出了一种针对材料微结构图像的高效参数化表征模型.通过特征正交分解(proper orthogonal decomposition,POD)对已有材料微结构图像数据进行特征分析,得到近似描述该类材料微结构的特征缩减基.应用移动最小二乘(moving least squares,MLS)法建立特征缩减基映射系数的响应面模型,拟合得到任意给定参量相应的缩减基映射系数.利用拟合缩减基系数可获得任意给定参量对应的微结构图像矩阵.该参数化表征模型被用于表征含椭球夹杂的两相材料(2-phase composite)的二维情形, 并进一步应用于这类复合材料宏观等效力学性能的优化设计.  相似文献

The influence of the behavior and strategies of traders on stock price formation has attracted much interest. It is assumed that there is a positive correlation between the total net demand and the price change. A buy order is expected to increase the price, whereas a sell order is assumed to decrease it. We perform data analysis based on a recently proposed stochastic model for stock prices. The model involves long‐range dependence, self‐similarity, and no arbitrage principle, as observed in real data. The arrival times of orders, their quantity, and their duration are created by a Poisson random measure. The aggregation of the effect of all orders based on these parameters yields the log‐price process. By scaling the parameters, a fractional Brownian motion or a stable Levy process can be obtained in the limit. In this paper, our aim is twofold; first, to devise statistical methodology to estimate the model parameters with an application on high‐frequency price data, and second, to validate the model by simulations with the estimated parameters. We find that the statistical properties of agent level behavior are reflected on the stock price, and can affect the entire process. Moreover, the price model is suitable for prediction through simulations when the parameters are estimated from real data. In this contribution an energetic model for multi-phase materials is developed describing the influence of microstructure on different length scales as well as the evolution of phase changes. Restrictions on the energy functional are discussed. In such a non-convex framework, interfacial contributions serve for relaxing the total energy. Such models can be applied to describe the macroscopic material properties of carbon fibre reinforced carbon where phase transitions between regions of different texture of the carbon matrix are observed on nanoscale as well as columnar microstructures on microscale [2]. This paper gives a numerical method to simulate sample paths for stochastic differential equations (SDEs) driven by Poisson random measures. It provides us a new approach to simulate systems with jumps from a different angle. The driving Poisson random measures are assumed to be generated by stationary Poisson point processes instead of Lévy processes. Methods provided in this paper can be used to simulate SDEs with Lévy noise approximately. The simulation is divided into two parts: the part of jumping integration is based on definition without approximation while the continuous part is based on some classical approaches. Biological explanations for stochastic integrations with jumps are motivated by several numerical simulations. How to model biological systems with jumps is showed in this paper. Moreover, method of choosing integrands and stationary Poisson point processes in jumping integrations for biological models are obtained. In addition, results are illustrated through some examples and numerical simulations. For some examples, earthquake is chose as a jumping source which causes jumps on the size of biological population.  相似文献
