A series of pyrene‐based Y‐shaped blue emitters, namely, 7‐tert‐butyl‐1,3‐diarylpyrenes 4 were synthesized by the Suzuki cross‐coupling reaction of 7‐tert‐butyl‐1,3‐dibromopyrene with a variety of p‐substituted phenylboronic acids in good to excellent yields. These compounds were fully characterized by X‐ray crystallography, UV/Vis absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy, DFT calculations, thermogravimetric analysis, and differential scanning calorimetry. Single‐crystal X‐ray analysis revealed that the Y‐shaped arylpyrenes exhibited a low degree of π stacking owing to the steric effect of the bulky tert‐butyl group in the pyrene ring at the 7‐position, and thus, the intermolecular π–π interactions were effectively suppressed in the solid state. Despite the significantly twisted nonplanar structures, these molecules still displayed efficient intramolecular charge‐transfer emissions with clear solvatochromic shifts on increasing solvent polarity. An intriguing fact is that all of these molecules show highly blue emissions with excellent quantum yields in the solid state. Additionally, the two compounds containing the strongest electron‐accepting groups, CN ( 4d ) and CHO ( 4f ), possess high thermal stability, which, together with their excellent solid‐state fluorescence efficiency, makes them promising potential blue emitters in organic light‐emitting device applications.  相似文献

The construction and precise control of the face‐to‐face π‐stacked arrangements of anthracene fluorophores in the crystalline state led to a remarkable red shift in the fluorescence spectrum due to unprecedented excited oligomer formation. The arrangements were regulated by using organic salts including anthracene‐1,5‐disulfonic acid (1,5‐ADS) and a variety of aliphatic amines. Because of the smaller number of hydrogen atoms at the edge positions and the steric effect of the sulfonate groups, 1,5‐ADS should prefer face‐to‐face π‐stacked arrangements over the usual edge‐to‐face herringbone arrangement. Indeed, as the alkyl substituents were lengthened, the organic salts altered their anthracene arrangement to give two‐dimensional (2D) edge‐to‐face and end‐to‐face herringbone arrangements, one‐dimensional (1D) face‐to‐face zigzag and slipped stacking arrangements, a lateral 1D face‐to‐face arrangement like part of a brick wall, and a discrete monomer arrangement. The monomer arrangement behaved as a dilute solution even in the close‐packed solid state to emit deep blue light. The 1D face‐to‐face zigzag and slipped stacking of the anthracene fluorophores caused a red shift of 30–40 nm in the fluorescence emission with respect to the discrete arrangement, probably owing to ground‐state associations. On the other hand, the 2D end‐to‐face stacking induced a larger red shift of 60 nm, which is attributed to the excimer fluorescence. Surprisingly, the brick‐like lateral face‐to‐face arrangement afforded a remarkable red shift of 150 nm to give yellow fluorescence. This anomalous red shift is probably due to excited oligomer formation in such a lateral 1D arrangement according to the long fluorescence lifetime and little shift in the excitation spectrum. The regulation of the π‐stacked arrangement of anthracene fluorophores enabled the wide modulation of the fluorescence and a detailed investigation of the relationships between the photophysical properties and the arrangements.  相似文献

Four ring‐shaped silafluorene‐containing compounds ( 1 – 4 ) were synthesized and characterized as potentially promising monomers for fluorescent polymers. Their optical properties in solution and solid state (thin film and powder) were studied. These compounds have low quantum yields in solution (Φfl=0.13‐0.15) with fluorescence maxima at about 355 nm, but high quantum yields in the solid state (powder, Φfl=0.35‐0.54) with fluorescence maxima at about 377 and 488 nm. Influence of the substituents and the number of silafluorene units in 1 – 4 on their optical properties was investigated. Extensive study of the X‐ray crystal structures of 1 – 4 was undertaken to analyze and qualitatively estimate the role, extent, and influence of silafluorene moieties’ interactions on solid‐state fluorescent properties. Excited state UV/Vis and theoretical molecular orbital (MO) calculations were performed to explore possible fluorescence mechanisms and differences in quantum yields among these compounds.  相似文献

Benzene is the simplest aromatic hydrocarbon with a six‐membered ring. It is one of the most basic structural units for the construction of π conjugated systems, which are widely used as fluorescent dyes and other luminescent materials for imaging applications and displays because of their enhanced spectroscopic signal. Presented herein is 2,5‐bis(methylsulfonyl)‐1,4‐diaminobenzene as a novel architecture for green fluorophores, established based on an effective push–pull system supported by intramolecular hydrogen bonding. This compound demonstrates high fluorescence emission and photostability and is solid‐state emissive, water‐soluble, and solvent‐ and pH‐independent with quantum yields of Φ=0.67 and Stokes shift of 140 nm (in water). This architecture is a significant departure from conventional extended π‐conjugated systems based on a flat and rigid molecular design and provides a minimum requirement for green fluorophores comprising a single benzene ring.  相似文献

A V‐shaped bisanthracene derivative with three butyl groups formed two types of emissive solids that display bluish green and blue fluorescence (ΦF=72 and 32 %, respectively), depending on the preparation conditions. The crystal and powder X‐ray analyses reveal that the highly emissive solid adopts a head‐to‐head arrangement with discrete stacks of the anthracene moieties, whereas the moderately emissive solid adopts a head‐to‐tail arrangement without the stacks. The obtained molecular arrangements are transformed by thermal stimuli accompanying the change in fluorescence. Furthermore, large enhancements of dye emissions (12–45‐fold) through highly efficient host–guest energy transfer were achieved in the solid state by adding minute amounts of various fluorescent dyes (e.g. rubrene and Nile red) to the V‐shaped compound.  相似文献

The fluorescence properties of two new families of heterocycles possessing either a seven‐ or five‐membered ring attached at the core molecule are entirely different in solution and in the solid state. Crystallization has the effect of inhibiting non‐radiative excited‐state deactivation pathways, operative in solution for the seven‐membered ring compounds, thus leading to significant fluorescence efficiency in the solid state, with quantum yields ranging from 0.10 to 0.36. Conversely, the five‐membered ring derivatives, which display notable emission properties in solution, are almost non‐emissive in the crystalline state, characterized by a long‐range π‐stacked arrangement. When embedded in polymeric films, both series show fluorescence features similar to the solution case, with remarkable fluorescence quantum yields ranging from 0.09 to 0.41. According to quantum chemical calculations, 3H‐chromeno[3,4‐c]pyridine‐4,5‐diones show the specific mechanism of fluorescence quenching. The derivatives bearing the seven‐membered ring undergo, in solution, a significant structural deformation in the excited state, resulting in a large decrease of the energy gap between S1 and S0 and hence to a substantial contribution of the internal conversion in the relaxation process. The fluorescence quenching of the five‐membered ring derivatives is in turn related to the intermolecular interaction between adjacent molecules prevailing to a greater extent in the crystal lattice.  相似文献

2-Phenyl-benzoxazole and five derivatives bearing an alkyl or alkoxy substituent on the phenyl ring were used to prepare aqueous suspensions of particles via a solvent-exchange method. In these conditions, the methyl and methoxy derivatives spontaneously gave nanofibers, while the other compounds led to microcrystals. This shows that minor chemical changes are enough to direct the formation of a given type of particle. From a spectroscopic viewpoint, all compounds strongly emit blue light in the solid state, with spectra much broader than those registered in n-heptane and ethanol solutions. The photoluminescence quantum yields reached 38% and were slightly affected in aqueous suspension by the polarity of the environment. The molecular arrangement, deduced from X-ray analysis for the methyl and methoxy derivatives, was used to explain the fluorescence properties in the solid state. This work shows that 2-phenyl-benzoxazole derivatives are interesting candidates for applications as fluorescent nanomaterials, including in aqueous and biological media.  相似文献

A high contrast tri‐state fluorescent switch (FSPTPE) with both emission color change and on/off switching is achieved in a single molecular system by fusing the aggregation‐induced emissive tetraphenylethene (TPE) with a molecular switch of spiropyran (SP). In contrast to most of the reported solid‐state fluorescent switches, FSPTPE only exists in the amorphous phase in the ring‐closed form owing to its highly asymmetric molecular geometry and weak intermolecular interactions, which leads to its grinding‐inert stable cyan emission in the solid state. Such an amorphous phase facilitates the fast response of FSPTPE to acidic gases and induces the structural transition from the ring‐closed form to ring‐open form, accompanied with the “Off” state of the fluorescence. The structural transition leads to a planar molecular conformation and high dipole moment, which further results in strong intermolecular interactions and good crystallinity, so when the acid is added together with a solvent, both the ring‐opening reaction and re‐crystallization can be triggered to result in an orange emissive state. The reversible control between any two of the three states (cyan/orange/dark) can be achieved with acid/base or mechanical force/solvent treatment. Because of the stable initial state and high color contrast (Δλ=120 nm for cyan/orange switch, dark state ΦF<0.01 %), the fluorescent switch is very promising for applications such as displays, chemical or mechanical sensing, and anti‐counterfeiting.  相似文献

A novel sextuple hydrogen‐bonding (HB) self‐assembly molecular duplex bearing red‐emitting perylene diimide (PDI) fluorophores, namely PDIHB , was synthesized, and its molecular structure was confirmed by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, TOF‐MS and 2D NMR. Compared with the small molecular reference compound PDI , PDIHB shows one time enhanced fluorescence efficiency in solid state (4.1% vs. 2.1%). More importantly, the presence of bulky HB oligoamide strands in PDIHB could trigger effective spatial separation between guest and host fluorophores in thin solid film state, hence inefficient energy transfer occurs between the blue‐emitting host 2TPhNIHB and red guest PDIHB in the 2 wt% guest/host blending film. As a result, a solution‐processed organic light‐emitting diode (OLED) with quite simple device structure of ITO/PEDOT:PSS (40 nm)/PVK (40 nm)/ PDIHB (2 wt%): 2TPhNIHB (50 nm)/LiF (0.8 nm)/Al (100 nm) could emit bias‐independent warm‐white electroluminescence with stable Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage coordinates of (0.42, 0.33), and the maximum brightness and current efficiency of this device are 260 cd·m?2 and 0.49 cd·A?1, respectively. All these results indicated that HB self‐assembly supramolecular fluorophores could act as prospective materials for white OLED application.  相似文献

Herein, we present three imidazo[1,2‐a]pyridin‐2(3 H)‐one derivatives that are diamagnetic in solution, but paramagnetic in the solid state, possibly owing to a stacking‐induced formation of phenoxide‐type radicals. Notably, a larger bathochromic shift of the absorption (even up to the near‐ infrared region) of these three compounds was observed in the solid state than in solution, which was attributable to the ordered columnar stacking arrangements or their single‐electron character as radicals in the solid state. Interestingly, compared to that in solution, (E)‐3‐(pyridin‐4′‐ylmethylene)imidazo[1,2‐a]pyridine 2(3 H)‐one displayed a largely red‐shifted emission (centered at 660 nm, with tailing above 800 nm) in the solid state. A larger bathochromic shift (260 nm) of the emission is an indication of better order and tight stacking in the solid state, which is brought about by the rigid and polar acceptor. These three compounds also reveal different magnetic susceptibilities at 300 K, thus implying that they possess various columnar stacking structures. Most interestingly, these three radicals exhibit unusual ferromagnetic‐to‐antiferromagnetic phase transitions, which can be attributed to anisotropic contraction and non‐uniform slippage of the columnar stacking chains.  相似文献

A very simple and facile one‐pot method for the synthesis of pyrimidine derivatives is presented. In this method, 2‐aryl‐pyrimidine derivatives were prepared by the reaction of ketene N,S‐acetal 1 with commercially available aryl aldehydes by heating under solvent and catalyst‐free conditions. The synthesized pyrimidine derivatives showed blue‐green fluorescence in solid state.  相似文献

A simple and efficient protocol has been developed for the synthesis of 3‐phenylnaphtho[2,3‐b]furan‐4,9‐diones by domino reaction of α‐bromonitroalkenes to 2‐hydroxynaphthalene‐1,4‐dione. With the optimal reaction conditions [NaOAc (120 mol%), water, 70°C, 7 h], the scope of the domino reaction was explored and the green approach provided the desired products in moderate to good yields at elevated temperature under aqueous‐mediated conditions. A mechanistic rationalization for this reaction is also provided. The absorption characteristics of the compounds were examined by UV‐Vis spectra and fluorescence spectroscopy. All compounds were fluorescent in solution emitting at blue light (432–433 nm), green light (512–536 nm), or yellow light (591 nm).  相似文献

4‐Chlorocarbostyrils 3 , 12 , 17 , 24 , 26 with methoxy substituents in 6, 7, or 6,7‐position react with potassium cyanide in a p‐toluenesulfinate mediated reaction either to the highly fluorescent and stable 2‐oxoquinoline‐3,4‐dicarbonitriles 6 , 27 , 29 , 30 or at slightly lower temperatures to 4‐monocarbonitriles 5 , 13 , 18 . 4‐Chlorocarbostyril 3 and lithium p‐toluenesulfinate gave pure 4‐toluenesulfonylquinolone 4 , which reacted with potassium cyanide either to monocarbonitrile 5 or dicarbonitrile 6 , depending on the reaction conditions. 4‐Trifluoromethylquinolones 9 and 19 were prepared for fluorescence comparison from the appropriate methoxyaniline and 4,4,4‐trifluoroacetoacetate. The fluorescence properties such as emission wavelengths and quantum yields of 6‐methoxyderivatives 4 , 5 , 6 , 9 , 13 were studied and compared with those of 7‐methoxy derivatives 18 , 19 and 6,7‐dimethoxyderivatives 27 , 28 , 29 , 30 . 6,7‐Dimethoxy derivatives show best results, showing long‐waved fluorescence spectra up to 520 nm and acceptable quantum yields up to 0.46 for 3,4‐dicyano derivative 27 excited at 440 nm in acetonitrile.  相似文献

Transforming molecular motions into the macroscopic scale is a topic of great interest to nanoscience. The photomechanical effect is a promising strategy to achieve this goal. Herein, we report an intriguing photomechanical luminescence driven by the photodimerization of 2‐phenylbenzo[b]thiophene 1,1‐dioxide (P‐BTO) in molecular crystals and elucidate the working mechanism and substituent effect through crystallographic analysis and theoretical calculations. Striking splitting, hopping, and bending mechanical behaviors accompanied by a significant blue fluorescence enhancement are observed for P‐BTO crystals under UV light, which is attributed to the formation of photodimer 2P‐BTO. Although 2P‐BTO is poorly π‐conjugated because of the central cyclobutane ring, it exhibits prominent through‐space conjugation and aggregation‐induced emission (AIE), affording strong solid‐state blue fluorescence at 415 nm with an excellent quantum yield of up to 96.2 %.  相似文献

Small organic compounds without any traditional fluorescent chromophores are generally non-emissive, and only very few are reported to emit weak blue fluorescence. Here we synthesized a non-traditional luminescent small organic compound N-(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl)acrylamide (TFAM) with dramatically enhanced and red-shifted photoluminescence by introducing a strong electron-withdrawing group into acrylamide (AM). Very impressively, TFAM emits cyan (472 nm) and yellow-green (560 nm) fluorescence in solutions and solid state, respectively. TFAM also shows aggregation-induced emission enhancement (AIEE) and excitation-dependent fluorescence (EDF) characteristics, as well as temperature and metal cations-responsive fluorescence. Theoretical calculations show that the introduction of electron-withdrawing group leads to a lower energy gap between the HOMO–LUMO energy levels in TFAM than in AM. And strong cooperative hydrogen bonds are formed in TFAM molecules, resulting in rigidification of molecular conformations. The study provides a strategy for preparing non-traditional luminescent compounds with enhanced and red-shifted photoluminescence.  相似文献

2‐(2‐Hydroxy‐phenyl)‐4(3H)‐quinazolinone (HPQ), an organic fluorescent material that exhibits fluorescence by the excited‐state intramolecular proton‐transfer (ESIPT) mechanism, forms two different polymorphs in tetrahydrofuran. The conformational twist between the phenyl and quinazolinone rings of HPQ leads to different molecular packing in the solid state, giving structures that show solid‐state fluorescence at 497 and 511 nm. HPQ also shows intense fluorescence in dimethyl formamide (DMF) solution and selectively detects Zn2+ and Cd2+ ions at micromolar concentrations in DMF. Importantly, HPQ not only detects Zn2+ and Cd2+ ions selectively, but it also distinguishes between the metal ions with a fluorescence λmax that is blue‐shifted from 497 to 420 and 426 nm for Zn2+ and Cd2+ ions, respectively. Hence, tunable solid‐state fluorescence and selective metal‐ion‐sensor properties were demonstrated in a single organic material.  相似文献

2,7‐Bis(9‐ethylcarbazol‐3‐yl)‐9,9‐di(2‐ethylhexyl)fluorene and a segmented copolymer composed of the same chromophores alternated with hexamethylene fragments were synthesized. The obtained materials possess good solubility in common organic solvents, high thermal stability with 1% weight loss temperature of 350–370 °C, and suitable glass transition temperatures. Both derivatives show blue fluorescence in dilute solutions as well as in solid state, demonstrating that excimers are not formed in the thin films. The fluorescence spectra of the materials do not show any peaks in the long‐wavelength region even after annealing at 200 °C in air. An organic LED with the configuration of ITO/copolymer/Al generates blue electroluminescence with the maximum peak at 416 nm, rather low turn‐on voltage (4.0 V), and brightness of about 400 cd/m2. The heterostructure device based on model derivative emitted stable blue light with low operation voltage (100 cd/m2 at ~11 V) and demonstrated luminescence efficiency of 0.8 cd/A. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A N‐2‐phenylethyl‐substituted 1,4‐dihydropyridine derivative (NDHP) containing 5,5‐dimethylcyclohexane‐1,3‐dione and naphthylethylene was designed and synthesized. NDHP acts as a multifunctional fluorescent sensor in dual phases. The crystal structure analysis confirms that the NDHP molecules have highly twisted conformations. The twisted conformation results in aggregation‐induced emission properties and solid‐state emission, by restricting the intramolecular free rotation in the aggregated or solid state. In the solid state, NDHP exhibits reversible mechanochromic properties as a result of the transition between the amorphous and crystalline states. NDHP also exhibits a rare phenomenon of acid‐fumed solid‐state emission enhancement owing to the change in packing mode from a zigzag arrangement to J‐aggregation. The solid‐state stimuli‐responsive fluorescence switching is applied to realize a rewritable optical recording media and a multiple output combinational logic system. In solution, NDHP shows a selective fluorescence response for environmentally harmful Hg2+, with a limit of detection of 2.7 nm . This results from the “turn‐on” responsive behavior owing to the Hg2+‐triggered aggregation of the NDHP molecules. NDHP is also used in the imaging of intracellular Hg2+ in HeLa cells. These findings provide a feasible and attractive route for developing multifunctional fluorescent sensors for use in dual phases.  相似文献
