The thermally‐triggered n‐type doping of single‐walled carbon nanotubes is demonstrated using 1,1′‐bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene, a novel n‐type dopant. Through a simple thermal vacuum process, the phosphine compounds are moderately encapsulated inside single‐walled carbon nanotubes. The encapsulation into SWNTs is carefully characterized using Raman/X‐ray spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. This easy‐to‐handle doping with air‐stable precursors for n‐type SWNTs enables the large‐scale fabrication of thermoelectric materials showing an excellent power factor exceeding approximately 240 μW mK?2.  相似文献

Graphene nanoplatelets are promising candidates for enhancing the electrical conductivity of composites. However, because of their poor dispersion, graphene nanoplatelets must be added in large amounts to achieve the desired electrical properties, but such large amounts limit the industrial application of graphene nanoplatelets. Multi‐walled carbon nanotubes also possess high electrical conductivity accompanied by poor dispersion. Therefore, a synergistic effect was generated between graphene nanoplatelets and multi‐walled carbon nanotubes and used for the first time to prepare antistatic materials with high‐density polyethylene via 1‐step melt blending. The synergistic effect makes it possible to significantly improve the electrical properties by adding a small amount of untreated graphene nanoplatelets and multi‐walled carbon nanotubes and increases the possibility of using graphene nanoplatelets in industrial applications. When only 1 wt% graphene nanoplatelets and 0.5 wt% multi‐walled carbon nanotubes were added, the surface and volume resistivity values of the composites were much lower than those of the composites that were only added 3 wt% graphene nanoplatelets. Additionally, as a result of the synergistic effect of graphene nanoplatelets and multi‐walled carbon nanotubes, the composites met the requirements for antistatic materials.  相似文献

Carbon nanomaterials, especially graphene and carbon nanotubes, are considered to be favorable alternatives to graphite‐based anodes in lithium‐ion batteries, owing to their high specific surface area, electrical conductivity, and excellent mechanical flexibility. However, the limited number of storage sites for lithium ions within the sp2‐carbon hexahedrons leads to the low storage capacity. Thus, rational structure design is essential for the preparation of high‐performance carbon‐based anode materials. Herein, we employed flexible single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) with ultrahigh electrical conductivity as a wrapper for 3D graphene foam (GF) by using a facile dip‐coating process to form a binary network structure. This structure, which offered high electrical conductivity, enlarged the electrode/electrolyte contact area, shortened the electron‐/ion‐transport pathways, and allowed for efficient utilization of the active material, which led to improved electrochemical performance. When used as an anode in lithium‐ion batteries, the SWCNT‐GF electrode delivered a specific capacity of 953 mA h g?1 at a current density of 0.1 A g?1 and a high reversible capacity of 606 mA h g?1 after 1000 cycles, with a capacity retention of 90 % over 1000 cycles at 1 A g?1 and 189 mA h g?1 after 2200 cycles at 5 A g?1.  相似文献

Multi‐walled carbon (MWCNT) and tungsten disulfide (INT‐WS2) nanotubes are materials with excellent mechanical properties, high electrical and thermal conductivity. These special properties make them excellent candidates for high strength and electrically conductive polymer nanocomposite applications. In this work, the possibility of the improvement of mechanical, thermal and electrical properties of poly(trimethylene terephthalate) (PTT) by the introduction of MWCNT and INT‐WS2 nanotubes was investigated. The PTT nanocomposites with low loading of nanotubes were prepared by in situ polymerization method. Analysis of the nanocomposites' morphology carried out by SEM and TEM has confirmed that well‐dispersed nanotubes in the PTT matrix were obtained at low loading (<0.5 wt%). Thermal and thermo‐oxidative stability of nanocomposites was not affected by the presence of nanotubes in PTT matrix. Loading with INT‐WS2 up to 0.5 wt% was insufficient to ensure electrical conductivity of PTT nanocomposite films. In the case of nanocomposites filled with MWCNT, it was found that nanotube incorporation leads to increase of electrical conductivity of PTT films by 10 orders of magnitude, approaching a value of 10?3 S/cm at loading of 0.3 wt%. Tensile properties of amorphous and semicrystalline (annealed samples) nanocomposites were affected by the presence of nanotubes. Moreover, the increase in the brittleness of semicrystalline nanocomposites with the increase in MWCNT loading was observed, while the nanocomposites filled with INT‐WS2 were less brittle than neat PTT. Strings of single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) were prepared using an aqueous dispersion of gellan gum wrapped nanotubes and crosslinked using Ca2+ ions. Various formulations were evaluated to determine the parameters for successful string formation; these included 8–12 % nanotube by weight, 60–70 % gellan gum, and 20–30 % KCl. Strings showed electrical conductivity when dried between ITO electrodes. Conductivity variations were observed and potential sources of the variation identified. Proteins were attached to the carbon nanotube strings with peroxidase enzymatic activity detected following horseradish peroxidase attachment. This work provides a basis for development of electronic biosensors based on these carbon nanotube strings.  相似文献

DC conductivity of conjugated polymer‐single‐walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) composite films has been measured for different SWNT concentrations. The composite was prepared by dispersing SWNTs in the poly (3‐octylthiophene), P3OT matrix already dissolved in xylene. The conductivity of the composite films showed a rapid increase as the SWNT concentration increases beyond a certain value. This behavior is explained in terms of percolating paths provided by the SWNTs in the volume of polymer matrix. To investigate the effect of length of nanotubes on the percolation conductivity, different SWNT samples were employed with similar diameter but varying tube lengths. It was found that the conductivity of the composite films is strongly dominated by the length of the nanotubes. Lower percolation limit and high conductivity value of composite films is observed for longer nanotubes. Furthermore, the conductivity is observed to be dependent on the size of the host polymer molecule also. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part B: Polym Phys 48: 89–95, 2010  相似文献

Controlled nitrogen‐doping is a powerful methodology to modify the properties of carbon nanostructures and produce functional materials for electrocatalysis, energy conversion and storage, and sensing, among others. Herein, we report a wall‐ and hybridisation‐selective synthetic methodology to produce double‐walled carbon nanotubes with an inner tube doped exclusively with graphitic sp2‐nitrogen atoms. Our measurements shed light on the fundamental properties of nitrogen‐doped nanocarbons opening the door for developing their potential applications.  相似文献

Single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs)/polyaniline (PANI) composite films with enhanced thermoelectric properties were prepared by combining in situ polymerization and solution processing. Conductive atomic force microscopy and X‐ray diffraction measurements confirmed that solution processing and strong π–π interactions between the PANI and SWNTs induced the PANI molecules to form a highly ordered structure. The improved degree of order of the PANI molecular arrangement increased the carrier mobility and thereby enhanced the electrical transport properties of PANI. The maximum in‐plane electrical conductivity and power factor of the SWNTs/PANI composite films reached 1.44×103 S cm?1 and 217 μW m?1 K?2, respectively, at room temperature. Furthermore, a thermoelectric generator fabricated with the SWNTs/PANI composite films showed good electric generation ability and stability. A high power density of 10.4 μW cm?2 K?1 was obtained, which is superior to most reported results obtained in organic thermoelectric modules.  相似文献

The catalytic acceptorless dehydrogenation (CAD) is an attractive synthetic route to unsaturated compounds because of its high atomic efficiency. Here we report electrochemical acceptorless dehydrogenation of N‐heterocycles to obtain quinoline or indole derivatives using metal‐organic layer (MOL) catalyst. MOL is the two‐dimensional version of metal‐organic frameworks (MOF), and it can be constructed on conductive multi‐walled carbon nanotubes via facile solvothermal synthesis to overcome the conductivity constraint for MOFs in electrocatalysis. TEMPO‐OPO32? was incorporated into the system through a ligand exchange with capping formate on the MOL surface to serve as the active catalytic centers. The hybrid catalyst is efficient in the organic conversion and can be readily recycled and reused.  相似文献

We report a considerably promising method based on agarose gel electrophoresis (AGE) to separate single‐walled carbon nanotubes by adding a water‐soluble polyfluorene (w‐PFO) as surfactant into the agarose gel. In this effective method, the AGE/w‐PFO gel network will trap more semiconducting single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) with the assistance of w‐PFO, for the strong interaction between w‐PFO and semiconducting species. The optical absorbance, photoluminescence emission and resonant Raman scattering characterization were used to verify the separation effect. The purity of separated semiconducting species is as high as (98±1)%. The demonstrated field effect transistors give the on/off ratio and mobility about 27000 and 10.2 cm2·V?1·s?1, respectively.  相似文献

Air‐stable n‐type thermoelectric materials are recognized as an important and challenging topic in organic thermoelectrics (OTEs) because conventional n‐type OTE materials prepared by chemical doping are highly volatile upon exposure to air. Besides, doping efficiency and microstructure are hard to control with the incorporation of external dopants. We report herein the design and synthesis of unconventional n‐type OTE materials based on the diradicaloids 2DQQT‐S and 2DQQT‐Se, which are proved to be neutral single‐component organic conductors that exhibit an unprecedented air stability. Without external n‐doping, a pristine film of 2DQQT‐Se shows an electrical conductivity as high as 0.29 S cm?1 delivering a power factor of 1.4 μW m?1 K?2. Under ambient conditions, no decay in electrical conductivity is observed for over 260 hours. This work demonstrates that diradicaloids are promising candidates for air‐stable and high‐performance OTE materials.  相似文献

In 0.05 mol/L phosphate buffer solution (pH 7.0), carbon nanotubes modified electrode exhibits rapid response, strong catalytic activity with high stability toward the electrochemical oxidation of catechol. The electrochemical behavior of catechol on both the multi‐walled and single‐walled carbon nanotubes modified electrode was investigated. The experimental conditions, such as pH of the solution and scan rate were optimized. The currents (measured by constant potential amperometry) increase linearly with the concentrations of catechol in the range of 2.0×10?5–1.2×10?3 mol/L. Moreover, at the multi‐walled carbon nanotubes modified electrode the electrochemical responses of catechol and ascorbic acid can be separated clearly.  相似文献

The electrical conductivity, thermoelectrical, and optical properties of the polyaniline containing boron/double wall carbon nanotubes (CNTs) composites have been investigated. The electrical conductivities of the composites prepared with 1%, 5%, and 8% CNT concentrations at 300 K were found to be 5.31 × 10?6, 2.72 × 10?4, and 1.12 × 10?3 (S/cm), respectively. The thermoelectrical results indicate that all the samples exhibit n‐type electrical conductivity. The optical band gaps of the samples were found to be 3.71 eV for 0% DWNT, 3.32 eV for 1% DWNT, 3.15 eV for 5% DWNT, and 3.12 eV for 8% DWNT. The obtained results suggest that the electrical conductivity of PANI‐B polymer is improved by DWNT doping. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Devices with varying concentrations of single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) dispersed in three derivatives of poly(p‐phenylene vinylene) are prepared, and their electroluminescent properties evaluated. Increasing the concentration of SWNTs improves the electrical conductivity of the nanocomposites. However, an undesired increase in the electroluminescence (EL) turn‐on voltage is observed for the hybrids, possibly due to photoluminescence quenching of excitons by the SWNTs. At relatively low concentrations of SWNTs, there is an increase in the EL lifetime; in contrast, at relatively high concentrations of SWNTs, due to photoluminescence quenching by the nanotubes, significant reduction in brightness and faster degradation of the EL performance of the devices is observed. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Ferrocene was covalently bonded to a layer of adsorbed single‐walled carbon nanotubes on a glassy carbon electrode surface using electrochemical grafting and click chemistry. Grafting of the 4‐azidobenzenediazonium salt onto the surface was accomplished by electrochemical reduction. The surface‐bound azide groups, with the use of a copper(I) catalyst, were reacted with ethynylferrocene to form covalent 1,2,3‐triazole bonds by click chemistry. This layer by layer construction of the electrode surface results in stable electrodes by combining good electrical conductivity and increased surface area of the nanotubes with the versatility of the Sharpless click reaction.  相似文献

The preparation and characterization of the nanocomposite polyelectrolyte membranes, based on Nafion, sulfonated multi‐walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT‐SO3H) and imidazole modified multi‐walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT‐Im), for direct methanol fuel cell applications is described. The results showed that the modification of multi‐walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) with proton‐conducting groups (sulfonic acid groups or imidazole groups) could enhance the proton conductivity of the nanocomposite membranes in comparison to Nafion 117. Regarding the interactions between the protonated imidazole groups, grafted on the surface of MWCNT, and the negatively charged sulfonic acid groups of Nafion, new electrostatic interactions can be formed in the interface of the Nafion and MWCNT‐Im, which result in both lower methanol permeability and higher proton conductivity. The physical characteristics of these manufactured nanocomposite membranes were investigated by thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, water uptake, methanol permeability, and ion exchange capacity, as well as proton conductivity. The Nafion/MWCNT‐Im membranes showed the higher proton conductivity, lower methanol permeability, and, as a consequence, a higher selectivity parameter in comparison to the neat Nafion or Nafion membrane containing MWCNT‐SO3H or ─OH functionalized multi‐walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT‐OH) membranes. The obtained results indicated that the Nafion/MWCNT‐Im membranes could be used as efficient polyelectrolyte membranes for direct methanol fuel cell applications.  相似文献

Healable, electrically conductive materials are highly desirable and valuable for the development of various modern electronics. But the preparation of a material combining good mechanical elasticity, functional properties, and intrinsic self‐healing ability remains a great challenge. Here, we design composites by connecting a polymer network and single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) through host–guest interactions. The resulting materials show bulk electrical conductivity, proximity sensitivity, humidity sensitivity and are able to self‐heal without external stimulus under ambient conditions rapidly. Furthermore, they also possess elasticity comparable to commercial rubbers.  相似文献

The use of selective interactions between conjugated polymers and single‐walled carbon nanotubes has emerged as a promising method for the separation of nanotubes by electronic type. Although much attention has been devoted to investigating polyfluorenes and their ability to disperse semiconducting carbon nanotubes under specific conditions, other polymer families, such as poly(2,7‐carbazole)s, have been relatively overlooked. Poly(2,7‐carbazole)s have been shown to also preferentially interact with semiconducting carbon nanotubes, however a detailed investigation of polymer parameters, such as molecular weight, has not been performed. We have prepared seven different molecular weights of a poly(2,7‐carbazole), from short chain oligomers to high molecular weight polymers, and have investigated their effectiveness at dispersing semiconducting single‐walled carbon nanotubes. Although all polymer chain lengths were able to efficiently exfoliate carbon nanotube bundles using a mild dispersion protocol, only polymers above a certain threshold molecular weight (Mn ~ 27 kDa) were found to exhibit complete selectivity for semiconducting nanotubes, with no observable signals from metallic species. Additionally, we found the quality of separation to be strongly dependent on the ratio of polymer to carbon nanotube. Contrary to previous reports, we have found that an excess of poly(2,7‐carbazole) leads to incomplete removal of metallic carbon nanotubes. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Organic thin film nanocomposites, prepared by liquid‐phase exfoliation, were investigated for their superior electrical properties and thermoelectric behavior. Single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT) were stabilized by intrinsically conductive poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) in an aqueous solution. The electrical conductivity (σ) was found to increase linearly as 20 to 95 wt % SWNT. At 95 wt % SWNT, these thin films exhibit metallic electrical conductivity (~4.0 × 105 S m?1) that is among the highest values ever reported for a free‐standing, fully organic material. The thermopower (S) remains relatively unaltered as the electrical conductivity increases, leading to a maximum power factor (S2σ) of 140 μW m?1 K?2. This power factor is within an order of magnitude of bismuth telluride, so it is believed that these flexible films could be used for some unique thermoelectric applications requiring mechanical flexibility and printability. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The reversible capacity of AlCl4? intercalation/de‐intercalation in conventional cathodes of aluminum‐ion batteries (AIBs) is difficult to improve due to the large size of AlCl4? anions. Therefore, it is highly desirable to realize the intercalation/de‐intercalation of smaller Al‐based ions. Here, we fabricated polyaniline/single‐walled carbon nanotubes (PANI/SWCNTs) composite films and protonated the PANI nanorods. The protonation endows PANI with more active sites and enhanced conductivity. Hyper self‐protonated PANI (PANI(H+)) exhibits reversible AlCl2+ intercalation/de‐intercalation during the discharge/charge process. As a result, the discharge capacity of the Al/PANI(H+) battery is twice as high as that of the initial composite films. PANI(H+)@SWCNT electrodes also have a stable cycling life with only 0.003 % capacity decay per cycle over 8000 cycles. Owing to the excellent mechanical properties, PANI(H+)@SWCNT composite films can act as the electrodes of flexible AIBs.  相似文献
