Ordered mesoporous metal–organic frameworks (mesoMOFs) were constructed with a uniform pore size up to about 10 nm and thick microporous walls, opening up the possibility for the mass diffusion of large-size molecules through crystalline MOFs. The synergistic effects based on triblock copolymer templates and the Hofmeister salting-in anions promote the nucleation of stable MOFs in aqueous phase and the in situ crystallization of MOFs around templates, rendering the generation of a microcrystal with periodically arranged large mesopores. The improved mass transfer benefiting from large-pore channels, together with robust microporous crystalline structure, endows them as an ideal nanoreactor for the highly efficient digestion of various biogenic proteins. This strategy could set a guideline for the rational design of new ordered large-pore mesoMOFs with a variety of compositions and functionalities and pave a way for their potential applications with biomacromolecules.  相似文献

Zr‐based mesoporous metal–organic frameworks (mesoMOFs) with uniform mesochannels and crystallized microporous framework were constructed in a water‐based system using amphoteric surfactants as templates. Aqueous‐phase synthesis guaranteed the formation of rod‐shaped surfactant micelles. Meanwhile, the carboxylate groups of amphoteric surfactants provided the anchoring to bridge Zr‐oxo clusters and surfactant assemblies. As a result, the directed crystallization of MOFs proceeded around cylindrical micelles and the hierarchical micro‐ and mesostructure was produced. The dimensions of mesopores were easily tailored by changing the alkyl chain length of the applied surfactants. The included surfactant was effectively extracted thanks to the exceptional stability of the obtained Zr‐based mesoMOFs. The almost complete occupation of the mesopore by cytochrome c exemplifies the accessibility of the mesochannels, suggesting the potential applications of the obtained mesoMOFs with bulky molecules.  相似文献

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have emerged as a new type of porous materials for diverse applications. Most open MOFs reported to date are microporous (pore sizes <2 nm), and only a small fraction of MOFs with ordered mesoscale domains (2-50 nm) is reported. This tutorial review covers recent advances in the field of mesoporous MOFs (mesoMOFs), including their design and synthesis, porosity activation and surface modification, and potential applications in storage and separation, catalysis, drug delivery and imaging. Their specificities are dependent on the pore shape, size, and chemical environments of the cages or channels. The relationship between the structures and functions is discussed. The future outlook for the field is discussed in the context of current challenges in applications of mesoporous materials.  相似文献

Modulation and templating are two synthetic techniques that have garnered significant attention over the last several years for the preparation of hierarchically porous metal–organic frameworks (HP‐MOFs). In this study, by using fatty acids with different lengths and concentrations as dual‐functional modulators/templates, we were able to obtain HP‐MOFs with tunable mesopores that exhibit different pore diameters and locations. We found that the length and concentration of the fatty acids can determine if micelle formation occurs, which in turn dictates the porosity of the resulting HP‐MOFs. The HP‐MOFs with different mesopores differed in their performance in gas uptake and dye adsorption, and the structure–performance relationships were ascribed to the pore diameters and locations. This approach could provide a potentially universal method to efficiently introduce hierarchal mesopores into existing microporous MOF adsorbents with tunable properties.  相似文献

Microporous metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are comparatively new porous materials. Because the pores within such MOFs can be readily tuned through the interplay of both metal‐containing clusters and organic linkers to induce their size‐selective sieving effects, while the pore surfaces can be straightforwardly functionalized to enforce their different interactions with gas molecules, MOF materials are very promising for gas separation. Furthermore, the high porosities of such materials can enable microporous MOFs with optimized gas separation selectivity and capacity to be targeted. This Focus Review highlights recent significant advances in microporous MOFs for gas separation.  相似文献

A mesoporous solid with crystalline walls and an ordered pore structure exhibiting a bimodal pore size distribution (3.3 and 11 nm diameter pores) has been synthesized. Previous attempts to synthesize solids with large ordered mesopores by hard templating focused on the preparation of templates with thick walls (the thick walls become the pores in the target materials), something that has proved difficult to achieve. Here the large pores (11 nm) do not depend on the synthesis of a template with thick walls but instead on controlling the microporous bridging between the two sets of mesopores in the KIT-6 template. Such control determines the relative proportion of the two pore sizes. The wall thickness of the 3D cubic NiO mesopore has also been varied. Preliminary magnetic characterization indicates the freezing of uncompensated moments or blocking of superparamagnetism.  相似文献

The pore size enlargement and structural stability have been recognized as two crucial targets, which are rarely achieved together, in the development of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). Herein, we have developed a versatile modulator‐induced defect‐formation strategy, in the presence of monocarboxylic acid as a modulator and an insufficient amount of organic ligand, successfully realizing the controllable synthesis of hierarchically porous MOFs (HP‐MOFs) with high stability and tailorable pore characters. Remarkably, the integration of high stability and large mesoporous property enables these HP‐MOFs to be important porous platforms for applications involving large molecules, especially in catalysis.  相似文献

New concepts on the design and synthesis of crystalline metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have made them a subject of considerable interest in the growing field of materials science. By creating larger cavity sizes by a nearly infinite combination of metal nodes and organic linkers, many innovative characteristics of microporous MOFs have been revealed. The primary goal of this perspective article is to highlight the frontiers in the development of giant MOFs that are deliberately constructed from metallated or metal-free bulky scaffolds. Incorporating these types of distinct bulky ligands into giant MOFs may lead to MOFs with a large cavity size, intriguing properties and new framework topology. Emerging applications of these materials in catalysis, adsorption, and sensors are also discussed.  相似文献

In this personal account, several key inventions on designing novel microporous and mesoporous materials, and their applications in energy and environmental research are reviewed. Although, crystalline materials with sub‐nanometer pore size regime like zeolites, AlPOs, MOFs, ZIFs etc. are known over the years, silicious and non‐silicious mesoporous materials have revolutionized the research on the materials with nanoscale porosity in last two and half decades. A wide range of inorganic, organic‐inorganic hybrid as well as purely organic mesoporous materials with either periodic or disordered mesopores are known. Apart from conventional hydrothermal syntheses involving soft templating route, hard templating, evaporation induced self‐assembly (EISA), electrochemical or solvothermal (using hydrophilic solvents) synthetic routes are often employed in designing a large spectrum of mesoporous materials. Ease of synthesis using available cheap raw chemicals and versatility in the framework compositions together with the unique surface properties like exceptionally high surface area, pore volume and tunability in pore dimensions have made these materials very exciting to a wide range of researchers working on materials chemistry. Nanoscale porosity in the semiconductor nanomaterials is highly beneficial for the photocatalytic, optoelectronic and related light‐harvesting applications. Their high chemical stability has been explored intensively in designing novel heterogeneous catalysts for the synthesis of biofuels from biomass or CO2 fixation to reactive organic molecules for the synthesis of fine chemicals and fuels, which has a large impact on energy and environmental research for the years to come. Diversity in mesoporous frameworks and their potential applications related to light harvesting, generation of renewable energy and synthesis of value added fine chemicals and fuels through environment friendly routes are mostly focused in this review.  相似文献

Three highly porous metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) with a uniform rht‐type topological network but hierarchical pores were successfully constructed by the assembly of triazole‐containing dendritic hexacarboxylate ligands with ZnII ions. These transparent MOF crystals present gradually increasing pore sizes upon extension of the length of the organic backbone, as clearly identified by structural analysis and gas‐adsorption experiments. The inherent accessibility of the pores to large molecules endows these materials with unique properties for the uptake of large guest molecules. The visible selective adsorption of dye molecules makes these MOFs highly promising porous materials for pore‐size‐dependent large‐molecule capture and separation.  相似文献

Desulfurization of fuels is receiving more and more attention all over the world due to the increase of stringent environmental regulations and fuel specifications. The metal–organic framework (MOF) is a new class of crystalline materials, and high porosity, one of the most important properties of MOFs, plays a central role in the functional properties. However, the investigation of MOFs, being employed as sorbents for adsorptive desulfurization, is still scarce. In this regard, we have constructed a new 3D porous compound 1 by using rigidly designed carboxylate ligands, which, for the first time, exhibit an unusual triple molecular necklace‐like helix. The N2 sorption isotherms of 1 show that it has a large Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) surface area and pore volume. With the stable pore structure and appropriate pore sizes, compound 1 has been used as a sorbent for adsorptive desulfurization. The results indicate that compound 1 shows an excellent adsorption property and, more importantly, displays excellent stability, repeatability, and regenerability. Thus, the design and synthesis of targeted MOFs with appropriate pore size and increased interactions between organosulfur compounds and ligands/metals from MOFs is crucial for adsorptive desulfurization, which might be an effective guide to find an efficient and green adsorbent for desulfurization.  相似文献

Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) are highly promising Lewis acid catalysts; they either inherently possess Lewis acid sites (LASs) on it or the LASs can be generated through various post‐synthetic methods, the later can be performed in MOFs in a trivial fashion. MOFs are suitable platform for catalysis because of its highly crystalline and porous nature. Moreover, with recent advancements, thermal and chemical stability is not a problem with many MOFs. In this Minireview, an enormous versatility of MOFs, in terms of their microporosity/mesoporosity, size/shape selectivity, chirality, pore size, etc., has been highlighted. These are advantageous for designing and performing various targeted organic transformations. Although, many organic transformations catalyzed by MOFs with LASs have been reported in the recent past. In this Minireview, we have restricted ourselves to four important organic reactions: (i) cyanosilylation, (ii) Diels–Alder reaction, (iii) C?H activation, and (iv) CO2‐addition. The discussion focuses mostly on the recent reports (42 examples).  相似文献

Epitaxial growth of MOF‐on‐MOF composite is an evolving research topic in the quest for multifunctional materials. In previously reported methods, the core–shell MOFs were synthesized via a stepwise strategy that involved growing the shell‐MOFs on top of the preformed core‐MOFs with matched lattice parameters. However, the inconvenient stepwise synthesis and the strict lattice‐matching requirement have limited the preparation of core–shell MOFs. Herein, we demonstrate that hybrid core–shell MOFs with mismatching lattices can be synthesized under the guidance of nucleation kinetic analysis. A series of MOF composites with mesoporous core and microporous shell were constructed and characterized by optical microscopy, powder X‐ray diffraction, gas sorption measurement, and scanning electron microscopy. Isoreticular expansion of microporous shells and orthogonal modification of the core was realized to produce multifunctional MOF composites, which acted as size selective catalysts for olefin epoxidation with high activity and selectivity.  相似文献

Significant progress has been made on the synthesis and application of mesoporous γ‐alumina. To date, little attention has been paid to the synthesis of microporous crystalline alumina. Here, fabrication of microporous crystalline γ‐alumina using a microporous covalent triazine framework (CTF‐1) as a template is described. Microporous crystalline γ‐alumina with a micro‐meso binary pore system was replicated by infiltration of aluminum nitrate into the micropores of the CTF‐1 template through a NH3/water‐vapor‐induced internal hydrolysis method, followed by thermal treatment, and subsequent removal of the CTF‐1 template with a 30 % H2O2 aqueous solution. The obtained crystalline γ‐alumina material exhibits a large surface area (349 m2 g−1) with micropore distribution centered at about 1.27 nm. Ru supported on microporous γ‐Al2O3 can be employed as catalyst for hydrolytic dehydrogenation of ammonia borane, and it exhibits high catalytic activity and good durability. This finding provides a new benchmark for preparing well‐defined crystalline microporous alumina materials by a template method, which can be applied in a wide range of fields.  相似文献

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), also known as coordination polymers, have emerged as a new class of crystalline porous materials, which are constructed from metal ions or metal ion clusters and bridging organic linkers. MOFs have tunable pores and functionalities, and usually exhibit very high surface areas. The potential applications of porous MOFs cover a broad range of fields and most of their applications are related to pore sizes, shapes and structures/environments. In this feature article, we provide an overview of the recent developments of porous MOFs as platforms in the functional applications of sorption and separation, heterogeneous catalysis, as supports/host matrices for metal nanoparticles, and as templates/nanoreactors for new material preparation.  相似文献

Two isostructural metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) having micropores of the same "static aperture size" but different "effective aperture size" have been prepared using 5-(pyridin-3-ylethynyl)isophthalic acid as a ligand having two different types of functional units, an isophthalate (iph) unit and a pyridyl unit, simultaneously in a single ligand. The combination of iph unit and Cu (or Zn) ion led to two-dimensional layers of Kagome? (kgm) net topology, the layers being further pillared by the internal auxiliary pyridyl unit to form a three-dimensional microporous framework having two different types of cage-like pores, cage A and cage B, with different aperture sizes and shapes. (1) The MOFs can distinguish the adsorbates (N(2)/Ar) not based on the widely used kinetic diameters of the adsorbates but based on the minimum diameters of the adsorbates, which are more shape dependent. While cage A with a sufficiently large aperture size compared with the size of the adsorbates does not show any size selectivity, cage B with an approximate size match between the adsorbates and the pore apertures shows shape selectivity for the adsorbates. The smaller but spherically shaped Ar atom is not allowed into the pore with the oval-shaped aperture; however, the larger linear N(2) molecule is allowed into the pore with the oval-shaped aperture. (2) Even though the two isostructural MOFs have the same static aperture size of cage B, they show different size selectivity for the adsorbates based on the effective aperture size, which reflects the different extents of the framework flexibility.  相似文献

Published data on the physical sorption of hydrogen by new materials with a large specific surface area, crystalline microporous metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), are systematized and analyzed. The hydrogen-accumulating properties of MOFs are compared with those of traditional materials (charcoals and zeolites) and nanocarbon systems. The role of secondary hydrogen spillover in the development of new approaches to increase the adsorption capacity of hydrogen storage materials is separately considered.  相似文献

Generally, crystals of synthetic porous materials such as metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are commonly made up from one kind of repeating pore structure which predominates the whole material. Surprisingly, little is known about how to introduce heterogeneously arranged pores within a crystal of homogeneous pores without losing the crystalline nature of the material. Here, we outline a strategy for producing crystals of MOF-5 in which a system of meso- and macropores either permeates the whole crystal to make sponge-like crystals or is entirely enclosed by a thick crystalline microporous MOF-5 sheath to make pomegranate-like crystals. These new forms of crystals represent a new class of materials in which micro-, meso-, and macroporosity are juxtaposed and are directly linked unique arrangements known to be useful in natural systems but heretofore unknown in synthetic crystals.  相似文献

We present a two‐step template‐free approach toward monolithic materials with controlled trimodal porous structures with macro‐, meso‐, and micropores. Our method relies on two ordering processes in discrete length scales: 1) Spontaneous formation of macroporous structures in monolithic materials by the sol–gel process through the short‐range ordered self‐assembly of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), and 2) reorganization of the framework structures in a mediator solution. The Zr‐terephthalate‐based MOF (UiO‐66‐NH2) was adopted as a proof of concept. The self‐assembly‐induced phase separation process offered interconnected macropores with diameters ranging from 0.9 to 1.8 μm. The subsequent reorganization process converted the microporous structure from low crystalline framework to crystalline UiO‐66. The resultant mesopore size within the skeletons was controlled in the range from 9 to 21 nm. This approach provides a novel way of designing spaces from nano‐ to micrometer scale in network‐forming materials.  相似文献

Hierarchically porous metal–organic frameworks (HP‐MOFs) are promising in various applications. Most reported HP‐MOFs are prepared based on the generation of mesopores in microporous frameworks, and the formed mesopores are connected by microporous channels, limiting the accessibility of mesopores for bulky molecules. A hierarchical structure is formed by constructing microporous MOFs in uninterrupted mesoporous tunnels. Using the confined space in as‐prepared mesoporous silica, highly dispersed metal precursors for MOFs are coated on the internal surface of mesoporous tunnels. Ligand vapor‐induced crystallization is employed to enable quantitative formation of MOFs in situ, in which sublimated ligands diffuse into mesoporous tunnels and react with metal precursors. The obtained hierarchically porous composites exhibit record‐high adsorption capacity for the bulky molecule trypsin. The thermal and storage stability of trypsin is improved upon immobilization on the composites.  相似文献
