Considerable work has gone into studying the properties of nonlocal diffusion equations. The existence of a principal eigenvalue has been a significant portion of this work. While there are good results for the existence of a principal eigenvalue equations on a bounded domain, few results exist for unbounded domains. On bounded domains, the Krein–Rutman theorem on Banach spaces is a common tool for showing existence. This article shows that generalized Krein–Rutman can be used on unbounded domains and that the theory of positive operators can serve as a powerful tool in the analysis of nonlocal diffusion equations. In particular, a useful sufficient condition for the existence of a principal eigenvalue is given.  相似文献

The paper is concerned with the delay differential equation u+λb(t)f(u(tτ))=0 satisfying u(t)=0 for −τ?t?0 and , where denotes the Riemann-Stieltjes integral. By applying the fixed point theorem in cones, we show the relationship between the asymptotic behaviors of the quotient (at zero and infinity) and the open intervals (eigenvalue intervals) of the parameter λ such that the problem has zero, one and two positive solution(s). If g(t)=t, by using a property of the Riemann-Stieltjes integral, the above nonlocal boundary value problem educes a three-point boundary value problem with delay, for which some similar results are established.  相似文献

We present a new approach to study the symmetry of minimizers for a large class of nonlocal variational problems. This approach which generalizes the Reflection method is based on the existence of some integral identities. We study the identities that lead to symmetry results, the functionals that can be considered and the function spaces that can be used. Then we use our method to prove the symmetry of minimizers for a class of variational problems involving the fractional powers of Laplacian, for the generalized Choquard functional and for the standing waves of the Davey-Stewartson equation.  相似文献

Fractional (or non-integer) differentiation is an important concept both from theoretical and applicational points of view. The study of problems of the calculus of variations with fractional derivatives is a rather recent subject, the main result being the fractional necessary optimality condition of Euler-Lagrange obtained in 2002. Here we use the notion of Euler-Lagrange fractional extremal to prove a Noether-type theorem. For that we propose a generalization of the classical concept of conservation law, introducing an appropriate fractional operator.  相似文献

In this paper we provide an asymptotic analysis of the optimal transport cost in some matching problems with random locations. More precisely, under various assumptions on the distribution of the locations and the cost function, we prove almost sure convergence, and large and moderate deviation principles. In general, the rate functions are given in terms of infinite-dimensional variational problems. For a suitable one-dimensional transportation problem, we provide the expression of the large deviation rate function in terms of a one-dimensional optimization problem, which allows the numerical estimation of the rate function. Finally, for certain one-dimensional transportation problems, we prove a central limit theorem.  相似文献

Wall (1961), defined the virtual Euler Characteristic χ(Γ) of an arbitrary group Γ of finite homological type as , where Γ′ is any torsion free subgroup of finite index in Γ. Analogous to virtual Euler Characteristic, we define the Virtual signature of an oriented virtual Poincare Duality group, a rational number. A stochastic version of the modified Young's generalized necessary conditions in the calculus of variations is given in this paper. It is based on an extension of Minkowski's theorem on the existence of a flat support for a convex figure, and it generalizes the necessary conditions of Weierstrass and Euler in the classical theory of the calculus of variations to a class of admissible curves which are expressible in terms of a finite number of random parameters. The integrals which we consider here are in the general Denjoy sense, except those with respect to the random parameters, which exist in the Lebesgue sense defined on a probability space. The importance of our stochastic analysis lies in the completion that a minimum not attained in the classical sense may be, and frequently is, attained in the stochastic case.This research was supported in part by the National Science Foundation under Grants Nos. A minimal sufficient condition for global optimality involving the Darboux point, analogous to the minimal sufficient condition of local optimality involving the conjugate point, is presented. The Darboux point is then characterized for optimal control problems with linear dynamics, cost functionals with a general terminal state term and an integrand quadratic in the state and control, and general terminal conditions. The Darboux point is shown to be the supremum of a sequence of conjugate points. If the terminal state term is quadratic, along with a scalar quadratic boundary condition, then the Darboux point is also the time at which the Riccati matrix becomes unbounded, giving a characterization of the unboundedness of the Riccati matrix at points which are not in general conjugate points.This research was supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant No. GK-30115.This is Definition 2.1 of Ref. 1.  相似文献

We give some existence results of minima for a class of nonconvex functionals depending on the Laplacian. We minimize these functionals on the set of functionsu inW 2,p () W 0 1,p () such that u/n=0 on ,p>1, with either an annulus or the whole space n . Our approach allows us to deal with integrands without any regularity conditions. The results are obtained first by showing that the corresponding convexified problem has at least one radially symmetric solution via a rotation; then, by using a Liapunov's theorem on the range of a vector-valued measure, we construct a function that is a solution to our problem.The author wishes to thank Prof. A. Combining the Clarke-Ekeland dual least action principle and the epi-convergence, we state an existence result and study the asymptotic behaviour for the periodic solution of a nonlinear Sturm-Liouville problem deriving from a convex subquadratic potential, when the data are perturbed in a suitable sense. The result appears like a stability result for the minimizers of a sequence of DC functions.  相似文献
