The magnetic properties of a series of three neutral radical organometallic complexes of general formula [CpNi(dithiolene)]. have been investigated by a combination of X-ray crystal structure analysis and magnetic susceptibility measurements, while the assignment of the exchange coupling constants to the possible exchange pathways has been accomplished with the help of calculations based on density functional theory (DFT). The syntheses and X-ray structures of [CpNi(adt)] (adt=acrylonitrile-2,3-dithiolate) and [CpNi(tfd)] (tfd=1,2-bis(trifluoromethyl)ethene-1,2-dithiolate) complexes are described, while [CpNi(mnt)] (mnt=maleonitriledithiolate) was reported earlier. In the three complexes, we observed strong antiferromagnetic coupling that could not be explained solely by short SS intermolecular contacts. Our calculations indicated that spin density in these complexes is strongly delocalized on the NiS2 moiety, with up to 20% on the Cp ring. As a consequence, CpCp and Cpdithiolene overlap interactions have been identified as responsible for antiferromagnetic couplings. The [CpNi(adt)] complex thus has a value J=-369.5 cm(-1) for an exchange interaction through a pi stacking due to the CpCp overlap. 相似文献

The reaction of [FeL(MeOH)2] (L being a tetradentate [N2O2]2? coordinating Schiff base like ligand [([3,3′]‐[1,2‐phenylenebis(iminomethylidyne)]bis(2,4‐pentane‐dionato)(2‐)N,N′,O2,O2′], MeOH = methanol) with 4,4′‐bipyridine (bipy) results in the formation of a new iron(II ) spin crossover coordination polymer of the formula [FeL(bipy)] ( 1 ). T‐dependent susceptibility measurements revealed an abrupt HS ? LS spin transition with an approximately 18 K‐wide thermal hysteresis loop (T1/2↑ = 237 K and T1/2↓ = 219 K). The isolation of crystals suitable for X‐ray structure analysis allowed the determination of the motive of the molecule structure of the first 1‐D chain compound with hysteresis in the HS form at 250 K. Despite the low qualtity of the data, we were able to obtain some insight into the interplay of covalent and elastic interactions that are both responsible for the high cooperative interactions during the spin transition in this compound. 相似文献

Three new Keggin polyoxometalate (POM)-based compounds linked to 3d metal complexes have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions: [Cu(phen)2]2{[Cu(phen)]2 [SiMo12O40(VO)2]} (1), {[Zn(phen)2]2[GeMo12O40(VO)2]}{[Zn(phen)2(H2O)]2 [GeMo12O40(VO)2]}·3H2O (2) and {[Co(phen)2]2[PMo12O40(VO)2]}{[Co(phen)2(OH)]2 [PMo12O40(VO)2]}·2.5H2O (3) (phen=1,10-phenanthroline). These three compounds present, as building blocks, the bicapped Keggin anions [XMo12O40(VO)2] (X=Si, Ge and P). Compound 1 consists of a bicapped Keggin anion [SiMo12O40(VO)2]2− linked to two [Cu(phen)]+ complexes with two [Cu(phen)2]+ countercations. Compound 2 contains two bicapped Keggin anions [GeMo12O40(VO)2]4−, one linked to two [Zn(phen)2(H2O)]2+ cations and the other one linked to two [Zn(phen)2]2+ cations. Compound 3 is a two-dimensional POM-based square network formed by bicapped Keggin anions [PMo12O40(VO)2]4− connected by [Co(phen)2]2+ cations. Discrete bicapped Keggin anions [PMo12O40(VO)2] linked to two [Co(phen)2(OH)]+ cations are located between the layers. The magnetic properties show the presence of antiferromagnetic interactions among the reduced Mo(V) atoms (in the three compounds) plus a paramagnetic contribution from the V(IV) atoms (in 1 and 2). Compound 3 shows, in addition, an antiferromagnetic interaction between the Co(II) and the V(IV) ions directly linked through an oxygen bridge. The low-temperature ESR spectra of compound 3 confirm the presence of the reduced Mo(V) ions and the antiferromagnetic coupling between the Co(II) and the V(IV) ions. 相似文献

A new building block for molecule-based magnetic materials???thiophene-substituted nitronyl nitroxide, NIT2-thp, [1, NIT2-thp?=?4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-2-(thiophenal-2-yl)imidazoline-1-oxyl-3-oxide] and its copper(II) complex [Cu(hfac)2]3(NIT2-thp)2 (2) (hfac?=?hexafluoroacetylacetonate) have been synthesized and characterized structurally and magnetically. For 1, dimers were formed and arranged through intermolecular interactions, the shortest contact between nitroxide groups is 4.115?Å among adjacent dimers. In 2 two types of copper interaction with 1 give three colinear Cu(II) ions linked by two μ???1,4 bridging nitroxide ligands. The central metal ion is in a distorted octahedron, axially coordinated by two nitroxide oxygen atoms, while the two external metal ions are in distorted square-pyramidal environments with the nitroxide oxygen atom coordinated in the basal plane. Magnetic susceptibility data for 1 and 2 have been measured in the range 3–300?K. There are antiferromagnetic interactions (J?=??3.89?cm?1) between the dimers of 1 and also ferromagnetic interactions in 2. The magnetic properties of 1 and 2 are discussed in connection with their crystal structures. 相似文献

(3) were synthesized by using corresponding rare earth nitrates and 1,3,5-benzenetriacetic acid (H3bta) under hydrothermal/solvothermal reaction conditions, and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. In these complexes, the carboxylate groups of bta3− adopt different coordination modes, namely one carboxylate group adopts μ2-η1:η1-bridging and each of the other two carboxylate groups adopts μ2-η2:η1-bridging coordination modes in 1 and 2, and one carboxylate group adopts a μ2-η2:η1-bridging coordination mode and each of the other two carboxylate groups adopts a μ2-η1:η1-bridging mode for the major component and one carboxylate group adopts a μ2-η2:η1-bridging coordination mode, one has a μ2-η1:η1-bridging mode and the third has a monodentate mode for the minor component in 3. The magnetic properties of the complexes 1 and 2 were investigated in the temperature range of 1.8–300 K. 相似文献

Reaction of Keggin polyoxotungstate with copper(II)-EDTA (EDTA=ethylenediamine tetraacetate) complex under mild conditions led to the formation of hybrid inorganic-organic compounds Na4(OH)[(Cu2EDTA)PW12O40]·17H2O (1) and Na4[(Cu2EDTA)SiW12O40]·19H2O (2). The single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses reveal their two structural features: (1) one-dimensional chain structure consisting of Keggin polyoxotungstate and copper(II)-EDTA complex; (2) Two-dimensional layer architecture assembled by the one-dimensional chain structure and sodium linker. The results of magnetic measurements in the temperature range 300-2 K indicated the existence of ferromagnetic exchange interactions between the CuII ions for both compounds. In addition, TGA analysis, IR spectra, and electrochemical properties were also investigated to well characterize these two compounds. 相似文献

The synthesis and characterization of new symmetrical FeII complexes, [FeLA(NCS)2] (1), and [FeLBx(NCS)2] (2–4), are reported (LA is the tetradentate Schiff base N,N′-bis(1-pyridin-2-ylethylidene)-2,2-dimethylpropane-1,3-diamine, and LBx stands for the family of tetradentate Schiff bases N,N′-bis[(2-R-1H-imidazol-4-yl)methylene]-2,2-dimethylpropane-1,3-diamine, with: R = H for LB1 in 2, R = Me for LB2 in 3, and R = Ph for LB3 in 4). Single-crystal X-ray structures have been determined for 1 (low-spin state at 293 K), 2 (high-spin (HS) state at 200 K), and 3 (HS state at 180 K). These complexes remain in the same spin-state over the whole temperature range [80–400 K]. The dissymmetrical tetradentate Schiff base ligands LCx, N-[(2-R2-1H-imidazol-4-yl)methylene]-N′-(1-pyridin-2-ylethylidene)-2,2-R1-propane-1,3-diamine (R1 = H, Me; R2 = H, Me, Ph), containing both pyridine and imidazole rings were obtained as their [FeLCx(NCS)2] complexes, 5–10, through reaction of the isolated aminal type ligands 2-methyl-2-pyridin-2-ylhexahydropyrimidine (R1 = H, 5–7) or 2,5,5-trimethyl-2-pyridin-2-ylhexahydropyrimidine (R1 = Me, 8–10) with imidazole-4-carboxaldehyde (R2 = H: 5, 8), 2-methylimidazole-4-carboxaldehyde (R2 = Me: 6, 9), and 2-phenyl-imidazole-4-carboxaldehyde (R2 = Ph: 7, 10) in the presence of iron(II) thiocyanate. Together with the single-crystal X-ray structures of 7 and 9, variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility and Mössbauer studies of 5–10 showed that it is possible to tune the spin crossover properties in the [FeLCx(NCS)2] series by changing the 2-imidazole and/or C2-propylene susbtituent of LCx. 相似文献

Two new compounds containing the possible Fe(III) spin-crossover cation, [Fe(qsal)2]+ (qsalH = N-(8-quinolyl)salicylaldimine), and nickel bis(dithiolene) anions have been synthesized. Both are 1 : 1 salts [Fe(qsal)2][Ni(dddt)2] · CH3CN · CH3OH (1) and [Fe(qsal)2][Ni(pddt)2] (2) (dddt = 5,6-dihydro-1,4-dithiin-2,3-dithiolate; pddt = 6,7-dihydro-5H-1,4-dithiepin-2,3-dithiolate). They have been characterized by X-ray crystal structure determination, elemental analysis, UV-Vis spectra and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The UV–Vis spectra are dominated by [Ni(L)2]? (1, L = dddt; 2, L = pddt). Magnetic studies show antiferromagnetic interaction in 1 from intermolecular S···S contacts and π–π stacking interactions, while the antiferromagnetic interaction in 2 is very weak. 相似文献

Four new coordination polymers were obtained by employing polycarboxylato spacers and cationic copper(II) complexes as nodes: ∞2[Cu3(trim)2(NH3)6(H2O)3] (1); ∞1[Cu(tmen)(dhtp)] (2), ∞1[Cu(tmen)(hitp)(H2O)] (3), ∞1[Cu(tmen)(nitp)] (4). (H3trim = trimesic acid, H2dhtp = 2,5-dihydroxy-terephthalic acid; H2hitp = 5-hydroxy-isophthalic acid, H2nitp = 5-nitro-isophthalic acid; tmen = N,N,N′,N′-tetramethyl-ethylenediamine). The crystal structures of the four compounds have been solved. Compound 1 consists of 2D coordination polymers with heart-shaped meshes, while compounds 2–4 contain infinite zigzag chains. The role of the hydrogen bond interactions in sustaining the supramolecular solid-state architectures in compounds 1 and 3 is discussed. The cryomagnetic investigation of compounds 1, 2, and 4 reveals antiferromagnetic interactions between the copper ions. 相似文献

The present work illustrates the versatile coordination modes of the amide-based ligands towards copper(II) ion. The reaction of the deprotonated form of the ligand, [L1]2− with CuCl2 affords a linear trinuclear complex, [Cu3(L1)2(Cl)2(H2O)] (1) which has been characterized thoroughly including single crystal structure analysis. The structure of 1 shows that one of the arm of the flexible ligand flips to coordinate second copper(II) centre, resulting in the formation of a trinuclear complex. On the other hand, ligand H2L2 in its deprotonated form reacts with Cu(II) ion to give complex 2 with general formula, [Cu(L2)]n (2). The crystal structure of the complex 2 shows that each copper is square-pyramidal with 5th coordination coming from the O-atom of the amide group from a neighbouring complex. This results in the generation of an one-dimensional zig-zag chain. The variable temperature magnetic measurements of the complexes, 1 and 2 show that while Cu ions in the former are antiferromagnetically coupled (J = −110.34 cm−1), a weak ferromagnetic interaction (J = +3.08 cm−1) exists in the later. A rationale, based on the orbital overlap from the copper ions and associated ligands, is provided for the observed magnetic coupling between the copper ions. 相似文献

Organometallic charge-transfer salts composed of decamethyl-, octamethyl-, and dimethylferrocene with N,N′-dicyano-1,4-benzoquinonediimine (DCNQI) derivatives were prepared. [Fe(C5Me5)2][(MeO)2DCNQI] (1) and [Fe(C5Me4H)2][Me2DCNQI] (2) were 1:1 DA salts with mixed-stack structures, whereas [Fe(C5Me4H)2][(MeO)2DCNQI]2 (3) and [Fe(C5MeH4)2][DCNQI]2 (4) were 1:2 DA salts. 3 exhibited a segregated-stack structure, in which charge separation was observed in the acceptor column. 1 became a metamagnet below TN = 5.0 K, whereas the other salts were paramagnets. Valence states and charge-transfer (CT) transitions in these complexes are discussed based on the neutral-ionic (NI) phase diagram. 相似文献

We study the spin chain behavior, a transition to 3D magnetic order and the magnitudes of the exchange interactions for the metal-amino acid complex Cu(D,L-alanine)2∙H2O, a model compound to investigate exchange couplings supported by chemical paths characteristic of biomolecules. Thermal and magnetic data were obtained as a function of temperature (T) and magnetic field (B0). The magnetic contribution to the specific heat, measured between 0.48 and 30 K, displays above 1.8 K a 1D spin-chain behavior that can be fitted with an intrachain antiferromagnetic (AFM) exchange coupling constant 2J0=(−2.12±0.08) cm−1 (defined as ℋex(i,i+1) = −2J0Si⋅Si+1), between neighbor coppers at 4.49 Å along chains connected by non-covalent and H-bonds. We also observe a narrow specific heat peak at 0.89 K indicating a phase transition to a 3D magnetically ordered phase. Magnetization curves at fixed T = 2, 4 and 7 K with B0 between 0 and 9 T, and at T between 2 and 300 K with several fixed values of B0 were globally fitted by an intrachain AFM exchange coupling constant 2J0=(−2.27±0.02) cm−1 and g = 2.091±0.005. Interchain interactions J1 between coppers in neighbor chains connected through long chemical paths with total length of 9.51 Å cannot be estimated from magnetization curves. However, observation of the phase transition in the specific heat data allows estimating the range 0.1≤|2J1|≤0.4 cm−1, covering the predictions of various approximations. We analyze the magnitudes of 2J0 and 2J1 in terms of the structure of the corresponding chemical paths. The main contribution in supporting the intrachain interaction is assigned to H-bonds while the interchain interactions are supported by paths containing H-bonds and carboxylate bridges, with the role of the H-bonds being predominant. We compare the obtained intrachain coupling with studies of compounds showing similar behavior and discuss the validity of the approximations allowing to calculate the interchain interactions. 相似文献

The effect of magnetic exchange, double exchange, vibronic coupling, and asymmetry on magnetic properties of d2–d3 systems is discussed. The temperature‐dependent magnetic moment was calculated with the semiclassical adiabatic approach. The results show that the vibronic coupling from the out‐of‐phase breathing vibration on the metal sites (Piepho, Krausz, and Schatz [PKS] model) and the vibronic coupling from the stretching vibration between the metal sites (P model) favor the localization and delocalization of the “extra” electron in mixed‐valence dimers, respectively. The magnetic properties are determined by the interplay among magnetic exchange, double exchange, and vibronic coupling. The results obtained by analyzing d2–d3 systems can be generalized to other full delocalized dinuclear mixed valence systems with a unique transferable electron. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The synthesis and X-ray structural characterisation of a new Cu(II) complex, [Cu(L1)Cl](ClO4)·CH3OH (1) [L1 = N,N′-bis((pyridine-2-yl)phenylidene)-1,3-diaminopropan-2-ol], has been described in this work. The structural study reveals that the Cu(II) centre in 1 has a square pyramidal geometry with a trigonality index τ = 0.43, being coordinated by the organic ligand and a chloro group. The interaction of complex 1 and another complex previously reported by our group, [Cu(L2)](ClO4)2 (2) [L2 = N-(1-pyridin-2-yl-phenylidene)-N′-[2-({2-[(1-pyridin-2-ylphenylidene)amino]ethyl}amino)ethyl]ethane-1,2diamine], with calf thymus DNA (CT-DNA) has been investigated using absorption and emission spectral studies. The binding constant (Kb) and the linear Stern-Volmer quenching constant (Ksv) have been determined. 相似文献
