The monoids of simplicial endomorphisms, i.e., the monoids of endomorphisms in the simplicial category, are submonoids of monoids one finds in Temperley–Lieb algebras, and as the monoids of Temperley–Lieb algebras are linked to situations where an endofunctor is adjoint to itself, so the monoids of simplicial endomorphisms are linked to arbitrary adjoint situations. This link is established through diagrams of the kind found in Temperley–Lieb algebras. Results about these matters, which were previously prefigured up to a point, are here surveyed and reworked. A presentation of monoids of simplicial endomorphisms by generators and relations has been given a long time ago. Here a closely related presentation is given, with completeness proved in a new and self-contained manner.  相似文献

We give a representation-theoretic and a categorical interpretation of the Drinfel'd double into the framework of group-cograded multiplier Hopf algebras. The Drinfel'd double as constructed by Zunino for a finite-type Hopf group-coalgebra is an example of this construction in the sense that the components of the group-cograded multiplier Hopf algebras are unital and finite-dimensional algebras and the admissible action is related with the adjoint action of the group on itself.  相似文献

On bimeasurings     
We introduce and study bimeasurings from pairs of bialgebras to algebras. It is shown that the universal bimeasuring bialgebra construction, which arises from Sweedler's universal measuring coalgebra construction and generalizes the finite dual, gives rise to a contravariant functor on the category of bialgebras adjoint to itself. An interpretation of bimeasurings as algebras in the category of Hopf modules is considered.  相似文献

Partially-additive monoids (pams) were introduced by Arbib and Manes in order to provide an algebraic semantics for programming languages. In this paper, we prove that the categoryP a m of pams and additive maps is a closed category whose monoids are partially-additive semirings. We follow the tensor product construction of R. Guitart [7] for categories of algebras which generalize the case of modules. Nevertheless, the problem here is more difficult owing to the fact that pams are partial algebras rather than algebras. Thus, we have to make some modifications to Guitart’s approach.  相似文献

We define a formal framework for the study of algebras of type Max-plus, Min-Plus, tropical algebras, and more generally algebras over a commutative idempotent semi-field. This work is motivated by the increasingly diversified use of these algebras which occur also in control theory, automata theory as well as in algebraic geometry, and in more specific ways in other parts of mathematics such as the theory of monoids.In this first article, we expecially re-examine linear algebra over idempotent semi-fields: the most delicate, but undoubtedly the most interesting point is the notion of a singular point seen as a generalization of the notion of zero. We thus rediscover many notions of regularity already introduced for matrices, and this allows us to define further notions, new in this context, such as that of the kernel of a linear form, and to apply duality to obtain a good notion of tropical dimension of a submodule.  相似文献

This paper is a further contribution to the developing theory of Boolean inverse monoids. These monoids should be regarded as non-commutative generalizations of Boolean algebras; indeed, classical Stone duality can be generalized to this non-commutative setting to yield a duality between Boolean inverse monoids and a class of étale topological groupoids. MV-algebras are also generalizations of Boolean algebras which arise from many-valued logics. It is the goal of this paper to show how these two generalizations are connected. To do this, we define a special class of Boolean inverse monoids having the property that their lattices of principal ideals naturally form an MV-algebra. We say that an arbitrary MV-algebra can be co-ordinatized if it is isomorphic to an MV-algebra arising in this way. Our main theorem is that every countable MV-algebra can be so co-ordinatized. The particular Boolean inverse monoids needed to establish this result are examples of what we term AF inverse monoids and are the inverse monoid analogues of AF C?-algebras. In particular, they are constructed from Bratteli diagrams as direct limits of finite direct products of finite symmetric inverse monoids.  相似文献

Tied monoids

We construct certain monoids, called tied monoids. These monoids result to be semidirect products finitely presented and commonly built from braid groups and their relatives acting on monoids of set partitions. The nature of our monoids indicate that they should give origin to new knot algebras; indeed, our tied monoids include the tied braid monoid and the tied singular braid monoid, which were used, respectively, to construct new polynomial invariants for classical links and singular links. Consequently, we provide a mechanism to attach an algebra to each tied monoid; this mechanism not only captures known generalizations of the bt-algebra, but also produces possible new knot algebras. To build the tied monoids it is necessary to have presentations of set partition monoids of types A, B and D, among others. For type A we use a presentation due to FitzGerald and for the other type it was necessary to built them.

There are two kinds of polynomial functions on matrix algebras over commutative rings: those induced by polynomials with coefficients in the algebra itself and those induced by polynomials with scalar coefficients. In the case of algebras of upper triangular matrices over a commutative ring, we characterize the former in terms of the latter (which are easier to handle because of substitution homomorphism). We conclude that the set of integer-valued polynomials with matrix coefficients on an algebra of upper triangular matrices is a ring, and that the set of null-polynomials with matrix coefficients on an algebra of upper triangular matrices is an ideal.  相似文献

On sofic monoids     
We investigate a notion of soficity for monoids. A group is sofic as a group if and only if it is sofic as a monoid. All finite monoids, all commutative monoids, all free monoids, all cancellative one-sided amenable monoids, all multiplicative monoids of matrices over a field, and all monoids obtained by adjoining an identity element to a semigroup are sofic. On the other hand, although the question of the existence of a non-sofic group remains open, we prove that the bicyclic monoid is not sofic. This shows that there exist finitely presented amenable inverse monoids that are non-sofic.  相似文献

We define abstract canonical semigroups modeled after the canonical reductive monoids associated with the canonical compactification of a group of adjoint type. An odd Sugihara monoid is a residuated distributive lattice-ordered commutative idempotent monoid with an order-reversing involution that fixes the monoid identity. The main theorem of this paper establishes a category equivalence between odd Sugihara monoids and relative Stone algebras. In combination with known results, it swiftly determines which varieties of odd Sugihara monoids are [strongly] amalgamable and which have the strong [or weak] epimorphism-surjectivity property. In particular, the full variety is shown to have all of these properties. The results extend, with slight modification, to the case where the algebras are bounded. Logical applications include immediate answers to some questions about projective and finite Beth definability and interpolation in the uninorm-based logic IUML, its boundless fragment and all of their extensions.  相似文献

A well-known theorem due to E. Zelmanov proves that PI-Lie algebras with an algebraic adjoint representation over a field of characteristic zero are locally finite-dimensional. In particular, a Lie algebra (over a field of characteristic zero) whose adjoint representation is algebraic of bounded degree is locally finite-dimensional. In this paper it is proved that a prime nondegenerate PI-Lie algebra with an algebraic adjoint representation over a field of characteristic zero is simple and finite-dimensional over its centroid, which is an algebraic field extension of the base field. We also give a new and shorter proof of the local finiteness of Lie algebras with an algebraic adjoint representation of bounded degree.  相似文献

In this paper we study the adjoint functors between the category of Rota-Baxter algebras and the categories of dendriform dialgebras and trialgebras. In analogy to the well-known theory of the adjoint functor between the category of associative algebras and Lie algebras, we first give an explicit construction of free Rota-Baxter algebras and then apply it to obtain universal enveloping Rota-Baxter algebras of dendriform dialgebras and trialgebras. We further show that free dendriform dialgebras and trialgebras, as represented by binary planar trees and planar trees, are canonical subalgebras of free Rota-Baxter algebras.  相似文献

The category of Hopf monoids over an arbitrary symmetric monoidal category as well as its subcategories of commutative and cocommutative objects respectively are studied, where attention is paid in particular to the following questions: (a) When are the canonical forgetful functors of these categories into the categories of monoids and comonoids respectively part of an adjunction? (b) When are the various subcategory-embeddings arsing naturally in this context reflexive or coreflexive? (c) When does a category of Hopf monoids have all limits or colimits? These problems are also shown to be intimately related. Particular emphasis is given to the case of Hopf algebras, i.e., when the chosen symmetric monoidal category is the category of modules over a commutative unital ring.  相似文献

We study the lattice of varieties of monoids, i.e., algebras with two operations, namely, an associative binary operation and a 0-ary operation that fixes the neutral element. It was unknown so far, whether this lattice satisfies some non-trivial identity. The objective of this paper is to give the negative answer to this question. Namely, we prove that any finite lattice is a homomorphic image of some sublattice of the lattice of overcommutative varieties of monoids (i.e., varieties that contain the variety of all commutative monoids). This implies that the lattice of overcommutative varieties of monoids, and therefore, the lattice of all varieties of monoids does not satisfy any non-trivial identity.  相似文献

In this paper, the concept of determinants for the matrices over a commutative semiring is introduced, and a development of determinantal identities is presented. This includes a generalization of the Laplace and Binet–Cauchy Theorems, as well as on adjoint matrices. Also, the determinants and the adjoint matrices over a commutative difference-ordered semiring are discussed and some inequalities for the determinants and for the adjoint matrices are obtained. The main results in this paper generalize the corresponding results for matrices over commutative rings, for fuzzy matrices, for lattice matrices and for incline matrices.  相似文献
