Let be a class of groups. Given a group G, assign to G some set of its subgroups =(G). We say that is a G-covering system of subgroups for (or, in other words, an -covering system of subgroups in G) if G whenever either =Ø or Ø and every subgroup in belongs to . We find the systems of subgroups in the class of finite soluble groups G which are simultaneously the G-covering systems of subgroups for the classes of p-supersoluble and p-nilpotent groups.  相似文献

In an attempt to find a q-analogue of Weber and Schafheitlin's integral 0 x J (ax) J (bx) dx which is discontinuous on the diagonal a = b the integral 0 x J (2) (a(1 – q)x; q)J (1) (b(1 – q)x; q) dx is evaluated where J (1) (x; q) and J (2) (x; q) are two of Jackson's three q-Bessel functions. It is found that the question of discontinuity becomes irrelevant in this case. Evaluations of this integral are also made in some interesting special cases. A biorthogonality formula is found as well as a Neumann series expansion for x in terms of J (2) +1+2n ((1 – q)x; q). Finally, a q-Lommel function is introduced.  相似文献

Let G denote a semisimple group, a discrete subgroup, B=G/P the Poisson boundary. Regarding invariants of discrete subgroups we prove, in particular, the following:(1) For any -quasi-invariant measure on B, and any probablity measure on , the norm of the operator () on L 2(B,) is equal to (), where is the unitary representation in L 2(X,), and is the regular representation of .(2) In particular this estimate holds when is Lebesgue measure on B, a Patterson–Sullivan measure, or a -stationary measure, and implies explicit lower bounds for the displacement and Margulis number of (w.r.t. a finite generating set), the dimension of the conformal density, the -entropy of the measure, and Lyapunov exponents of .(3) In particular, when G=PSL2() and is free, the new lower bound of the displacement is somewhat smaller than the Culler–Shalen bound (which requires an additional assumption) and is greater than the standard ball-packing bound. We also prove that ()=G() for any amenable action of G and L 1(G), and conversely, give a spectral criterion for amenability of an action of G under certain natural dynamical conditions. In addition, we establish a uniform lower bound for the -entropy of any measure quasi-invariant under the action of a group with property T, and use this fact to construct an interesting class of actions of such groups, related to 'virtual' maximal parabolic subgroups. Most of the results hold in fact in greater generality, and apply for instance when G is any semi-simple algebraic group, or when is any word-hyperbolic group, acting on their Poisson boundary, for example.  相似文献

Let M be a Kähler manifold with Ricci and antiholomorphic Ricci curvature bounded from below. Let be a domain in M with some bounds on the mean and JN-mean curvatures of its boundary . The main result of this paper is a comparison theorem between the Mean Exit Time function defined on and the Mean Exit Time from a geodesic ball of the complex projective space n () which involves a characterization of the geodesic balls among the domain . In order to achieve this, we prove a comparison theorem for the mean curvatures of hypersurfaces parallel to the boundary of , using the Index Lemma for Submanifolds.Work partially supported by a DGICYT Grant No. PS87-0115-C03-01.  相似文献

Let X be a separable Banach space with dual X *. A countable family of elements {g i }X * is a p-frame (1 p ) if the norm X is equivalent to the p -norm of the sequence {g i ()}. Without further assumptions, we prove that a p-frame allows every gX * to be represented as an unconditionally convergent series g=d i g i for coefficients {d i } q , where 1/p+1/q=1. A p-frame {g i } is not necessarily linear independent, so {g i } is some kind of overcomplete basis for X *. We prove that a q-Riesz basis for X * is a p-frame for X and that the associated coefficient functionals {f i } constitutes a p-Riesz basis allowing us to expand every fX (respectively gX *) as f=g i (f)f i (respectively g=g(f i )g i ). In the general case of a p-frame such expansions are only possible under extra assumptions.  相似文献

For a cardinal , we say that a subset B of a space X is C -compact in X if for every continuous function is a compact subset of . If B is a C-compact subset of a space X, then (B, X) denotes the degree of C -compactness of B in X. A space X is called -pseudocompact if X is C -compact into itself. For each cardinal , we give an example of an -pseudocompact space X such that X × X is not pseudocompact: this answers a question posed by T. Retta in Some cardinal generalizations of pseudocompactness Czechoslovak Math. J. 43 (1993), 385–390. The boundedness of the product of two bounded subsets is studied in some particular cases. A version of the classical Glicksberg's Theorem on the pseudocompactness of the product of two spaces is given in the context of boundedness. This theorem is applied to several particular cases.  相似文献

The non-commutative torus C *(n,) is realized as the C*-algebra of sections of a locally trivial C*-algebra bundle over S with fibres isomorphic to C *n/S, 1) for a totally skew multiplier 1 on n/S. D. Poguntke [9] proved that A is stably isomorphic to C(S) C(*( Zn/S, 1) C(S) A Mkl( C) for a simple non-commutative torus A and an integer kl. It is well-known that a stable isomorphism of two separable C*-algebras is equivalent to the existence of equivalence bimodule between them. We construct an A-C(S) A-equivalence bimodule.  相似文献

Let {W(s)} s 0 be a standard Wiener process. The supremum of the squared Euclidian norm Y (t)2, of the R2-valued process Y(t)=(1/t W(t), {12/t 3 int0 t s dW (s)– {3/t} W(t)), t [, 1], is the asymptotic, large sample distribution, of a test statistic for a change point detection problem, of appearance of linear trend. We determine the asymptotic behavior P {sup t [, 1] Y(t)2 > u as u , of this statistic, for a fixed (0,1), and for a moving = (u) 0 at a suitable rate as u . The statistical interest of our results lie in their use as approximate test levels.  相似文献

We fix a rich probability space (,F,P). Let (H,) be a separable Hilbert space and let be the canonical cylindrical Gaussian measure on H. Given any abstract Wiener space (H,B,) over H, and for every Hilbert–Schmidt operator T: HBH which is (|{}|,)-continuous, where |{}| stands for the (Gross-measurable) norm on B, we construct an Ornstein–Uhlenbeck process : (,F,P)×[0,1](B,|{}|) as a pathwise solution of the following infinite-dimensional Langevin equation d t =db t +T( t )dt with the initial data 0=0, where b is a B-valued Brownian motion based on the abstract Wiener space (H,B,). The richness of the probability space (,F,P) then implies the following consequences: the probability space is independent of the abstract Wiener space (H,B,) (in the sense that (,F,P) does not depend on the choice of the Gross-measurable norm |{}|) and the space C B consisting of all continuous B-valued functions on [0,1] is identical with the set of all paths of . Finally, we present a way to obtain pathwise continuous solutions :d t =
db t + t dt with initial data 0=0, where ,R,0 and 0<.  相似文献

Summary Let denote the class of infinite product probability measures = 1× 2× defined on an infinite product of replications of a given measurable space (X, A), and let denote the subset of for which (A) =0 or 1 for each permutation invariant event A. Previous works by Hewitt and Savage, Horn and Schach, Blum and Pathak, and Sendler (referenced in the paper) discuss very restrictive sufficient conditions under which a given member , of belongs to . In the present paper, the class is shown to possess several closure properties. E.g., if and 0 n for some n 1, then 0× 1× 2×.... While the current results do not permit a complete characterization of they demonstrate conclusively that is a much larger subset of than previous results indicated. The interesting special case X={0,1} is discussed in detail.Research supported by the National Science Foundation under grant No. MCS75-07556  相似文献

Employing Bak's dimension theory, we investigate the nonstable quadratic K-group K 1,2n (A, ) = G 2n (A, )/E 2n (A, ), n 3, where G 2n (A, ) denotes the general quadratic group of rank n over a form ring (A, ) and E 2n (A, ) its elementary subgroup. Considering form rings as a category with dimension in the sense of Bak, we obtain a dimension filtration G 2n (A, ) G 2n 0(A, ) ; G 2n 1(A, ) ... E 2n (A, ) of the general quadratic group G 2n (A, ) such that G 2n (A, )/G 2n 0(A, ) is Abelian, G 2n 0(A, ) G 2n 1(A, ) ... is a descending central series, and G 2n d(A)(A, ) = E 2n (A, ) whenever d(A) = (Bass–Serre dimension of A) is finite. In particular K 1,2n (A, ) is solvable when d(A) < .  相似文献

We consider an M/M/ model with m primary servers and infinitely many secondary ones. An arriving customer takes a primary server, if one is available. We derive integral representations for the joint steady state distribution of the number of occupied primary and secondary servers. Letting =/ be the ratio of arrival and service rates (all servers work at rate ), we study the joint distribution asymptotically for . We consider both m=O(1) and m scaled to be of the same order as . We also give results for the marginal distribution of the number of secondary servers that are occupied.  相似文献

Let Z t , t 0 be a strictly stable process on with index (0, 2]. We prove that for every p > , there exists = , p and such that
where || Z|| p stands for the strong p-variation of Z on [0,1]. The critical exponent p , takes a different shape according as | Z| is a subordinator and p > 1, or not. The small ball constant is explicitly computed when p > 1, and a lower bound on is easily obtained in the general case. In the symmetric case and when p > 2, we can also give an upper bound on in terms of the Brownian small ball constant under the (1/p)-Höder semi-norm. Along the way, we remark that the positive random variable is not necessarily stable when p > 1, which gives a negative answer to an old question of P. E. Greenwood.10  相似文献

Let 0 and 1 be Legendrian knots which are isotopic as usual knots, and which have the same obvious invariants rot and link. It seems to be an open question whether 0 and 1 are isotopic as Legendrian knots. In the paper we give a positive answer to this question for the (rather restricted) class of Legendrian knots with nonintersecting fronts.  相似文献

We prove the basic A r ()-weighted imbedding inequalities for A-harmonic tensors. These results can be used to estimate the integrals for A-harmonic tensors and to study the integrability of A-harmonic tensors and the properties of the homotopy operator T: C (D, l )C (D, l–1).  相似文献

The pseudodifferential operators with symbols in the Grushin classes \~S inf0 sup, , 0 < 1, of slowly varying symbols are shown to form spectrally invariant unital Frécher-*-algebras (*-algebras) in L(L 2(R n )) and in L(H st ) for weighted Sobolev spaces H inf supst defined via a weight d function . In all cases, the Fredholm property of an operator can be characterized by uniform ellipticity of the symbol. This gives a converse to theorems of Grushin and Kumano-Ta-Taniguchi. Both, the spectrum and the Fredholm spectrum of an operator turn out to be independent of the choices of s, t and .The characterization of the Fredholm property by uniform ellipticity leads to an index theorem for the Fredholm operators in these classes, extending results of Fedosov and Hörmander.  相似文献

Summary We study integral functionals of the formF(u, )= f(u)dx, defined foru C1(;R k), R n . The functionf is assumed to be polyconvex and to satisfy the inequalityf(A) c0¦(A)¦ for a suitable constant c0 > 0, where (A) is then-vector whose components are the determinants of all minors of thek×n matrixA. We prove thatF is lower semicontinuous onC 1(;R k) with respect to the strong topology ofL 1(;R k). Then we consider the relaxed functional , defined as the greatest lower semicontinuous functional onL 1(;R k ) which is less than or equal toF on C1(;R k). For everyu BV(;R k) we prove that (u,) f(u)dx+c0¦Dsu¦(), whereDu=u dx+Dsu is the Lebesgue decomposition of the Radon measureDu. Moreover, under suitable growth conditions onf, we show that (u,)= f(u)dx for everyu W1,p(;R k), withp min{n,k}. We prove also that the functional (u, ) can not be represented by an inte- gral for an arbitrary functionu BVloc(R n;R k). In fact, two examples show that, in general, the set function (u, ) is not subadditive whenu BVloc(R n;R k), even ifu W loc 1,p (R n;R k) for everyp < min{n,k}. Finally, we examine in detail the properties of the functionsu BV(;R k) such that (u, )= f(u)dx, particularly in the model casef(A)=¦(A)¦.  相似文献
