A mathematical model of a granular medium saturated with a viscous homogeneous fluid is constructed. The steady-state one-dimensional oscillations of cylindrical granules and an incompressible fluid under the action of a plane sonic wave whose length is significantly greater than the cell dimensions are investigated. The steady-state flow of the medium across the cell cross-section and the mean fluid velocity (Darcy’s law) are determined by means of passages to the limits with respect to the frequency and granule mass. The expressions obtained for the soil permeability coefficient under the action of a gravitational hydraulic head are compared with the representations of other authors.  相似文献

This paper analyses steady two-dimensional mixed convection of an imcompressible viscous fluid in a porous medium past a hot vertical plate. Assuming Darcy-Brinkman model for the flow in a porous medium, the boundary layer equations are integrated numerically to obtain the non-similar solution for the velocity and temperature distribution for several values of the permeability and viscous dissipation parameters. It is shown that for a fixed value of Prandtl number Pr and dissipation parameter E, the skin-friction at the plate decreases with increase in the permeability parameter K1. However for the same value or Pr and E, the heat transfer rate at the plate increases with increasing K1. The dimensionlcss velocity and temperature functions in the flow are plotted for several values of E and K1 with Pr = 0.73. It is also shown that for fixed values of K1, and KPr, the skin-friction increases with increase in the dissipation parameter E.  相似文献

Mixed convective flow and heat transfer in a vertical channel with one region filled with conducting fluid and another region with non-conducting fluid is analyzed. The viscous and Ohmic dissipation terms are included in the energy equation. Three types of thermal boundary conditions such as isothermal-isothermal, isoflux-isothermal and isothermal-isoflux for the left-right walls of the channel are prescribed. Analytical solutions are found for the governing equations using the regular perturbation method. A selected set of graphical results illustrating the effects of various parameters involved in the problem are presented and discussed.  相似文献

在桥梁工程中,当需要限制梁端的碰撞或过大的相对位移,经常会在梁端设置液体粘滞阻尼器。由于技术原因,液体粘滞阻尼器在桥梁设计中的参数选取基本上是通过全桥模型的地震非线性时程分析得到的。而在寿命期内,桥梁需要承受各种随机荷载,在具有不同力学特性荷载的激励作用下引起梁端纵向大的响应时,液体粘滞阻尼器是否始终起有利的减震作用,一直困扰着其在桥梁工程中的实践。在液体粘滞阻尼器力学特性研究的基础上,通过矩阵变换得到关于阻尼器的局部动力方程,从变形和受力两个方向对此问题进行探讨,得到液体粘滞阻尼器对于梁端的相对位移、相对速度、相对加速度均有减震作用。但不会得出始终对所有构件的受力有利的结论,并进行了验证。  相似文献

In this paper, we study the flow of a linearly viscous fluid and a granular solid, consisting of many particles, situated between two parallel plates rotating about different axes. Flow in orthogonal rheometers has been studied for many viscoelastic fluids so that their rheological properties can be measured. The mixture is modeled using the theory of interacting continua, and constitutive relations for the fluid phase, the granular phase, and the interaction forces are provided. For a very special case, an analytical solution to the equations of motion is also provided.  相似文献

The problem of viscous dissipation and thermal dispersion in saturated porous medium is numerically investigated for the case of non-Darcy flow regime. The fluid is induced to flow upward by natural convection as a result of a semi-infinite vertical wall that is immersed in the porous medium and is kept at constant higher temperature. The boundary layer approximations were used to simplify the set of the governing, nonlinear partial differential equations, which were then non-dimensionalized and solved using the finite elements method. The results for the details of the governing parameters are presented and investigated. It is found that the irreversible process of transforming the kinetic energy of the moving fluid to heat energy via the viscosity of the moving fluid (i.e., viscous dissipation) resulted in insignificant generation of heat for the range of parameters considered in this study. On the other hand, thermal dispersion has shown to disperse heat energy normal to the wall more effectively compared with the normal diffusion mechanism.  相似文献

The flow of a thin film of a nonlinearly viscous fluid whose stress tensor is modeled by a power law, flowing down a vertical plane in the field of gravity, is considered. For the case of low flow rates, an equation that describes the evolution of surface disturbances is derived in the long-wave approximation. The domain of linear stability of the trivial solution is found, and weakly nonlinear, steady-state travelling solutions of this equation are obtained. This paper is concerned with the analysis of motion of a gas bubble in a uniformly oscillating incompressible fluid. A theoretical model explaining the effect of sinking of gas bubbles in the absence of a standing pressure wave is validated experimentally. The conditions under which this effect occurs are determined, and a simple formula is derived for the average velocity of a gas bubble in the fluid.  相似文献

The investigation of flow in essentially inhomogeneous porous systems through the analysis of model periodic structures [1] is considered. In the acoustic approximation, an integrodifferential equation is obtained that describes the motion of a viscous fluid in a rigid porous medium of periodic structure. The velocity vector and pressure are represented in the form of asymptotic series with respect to a small parameter that characterizes the size of the periodicity cell, and the well-known procedure for averaging linearized hydrodynamic equations with small coefficients of viscosity [2, 3] is also used. The present study is devoted to investigate the influences of viscous dissipation on buoyancy induced flow over a horizontal or a vertical flat plate embedded in a non-Newtonian fluid saturated porous medium. The Ostwald-de Waele power-law model is used to characterize the non-Newtonian fluid behavior. Similarity solutions for the transformed governing equations are obtained with prescribed variable surface temperature (PT) or with prescribed variable surface heat flux (PHF) for the horizontal plate case. While, the similarity solutions are obtained with prescribed variable surface heat flux for the vertical plate case. Different similar transformations, for each case, are used. Numerical results for the details of the velocity and temperature profiles are shown on graphs. Nusselt number associated with temperature distributions and excess surface temperature associated with heat flux distributions which are entered in tables have been presented for different values of the power-law index n and the exponent as well as Eckert number.  相似文献

In this paper, we report experiments conducted on the temperature distribution around a solid sphere that settles slowly in a thermally stratified viscous fluid. The temperature field has been obtained using interferometry. In some cases thermochromic liquid crystal tracers have been used to simultaneously obtain the velocity and the temperature fields. We also describe a theoretical analysis of the problem and compare experimental and theoretical findings and discuss the results. we find that natural convection has a significant influence in determining the nature of the temperature field away from the sphere.  相似文献

Viscous dissipation effects in the problem of a fully-developed combined free and forced convection flow between two symmetrically and asymmetrically heated vertical parallel walls filled with a porous medium is analyzed. The equation of motion contains the modified Rayleigh number for a porous medium and the small-order viscous dissipation parameter. Particular attention is given to the solutions near the critical Rayleigh numbers at which infinite flow rates are predicted. Information concerning the multiplicity of solutions at critical Rayleigh numbers is also deduced from perturbation solutions of the governing equation.  相似文献

The stability of stationary traveling waves of the first and second families with respect to infinitesimal perturbations of arbitrary wavelength is subjected to a detailed numerical investigation. The existence of a unique region of stability of the first family is established for wave numbers (1, 1) corresponding to the optimal wave regime. There are several regions of stability of the second family ( k , k),k=2,3,..., lying close to the local flow rate maxima. In the regions of instability the growth rates of perturbations of the first family are several times greater than for the second family. This difference increases with increase in the Reynolds number.
