We present a branch and bound algorithm for a two-machine re-entrant flowshop scheduling problem with the objective of minimizing total tardiness. In the re-entrant flowshop considered here, all jobs must be processed twice on each machine, that is, each job should be processed on machine 1, machine 2 and then machine 1 and machine 2. By regarding a job as a pair of sub-jobs, each of which represents a pass through the two machines, we develop dominance properties, a lower bound and heuristic algorithms for the problem, and use these to develop a branch and bound algorithm. For evaluation of the performance of the algorithms, computational experiments are performed on randomly generated test problems and results are reported. Results of the experiments show that the suggested branch and bound algorithm can solve problems with up to 20 sub-jobs in a reasonable amount of CPU time, and the average percentage gap of the heuristic solutions is about 13%.  相似文献

This paper considers a production planning problem in disassembly systems, which is the problem of determining the quantity and timing of disassembling end-of-use/life products in order to satisfy the demand of their parts or components over a planning horizon. The case of single product type without parts commonality is considered for the objective of minimizing the sum of setup and inventory holding costs. To show the complexity of the problem, we prove that the problem is NP-hard. Then, after deriving the properties of optimal solutions, a branch and bound algorithm is suggested that incorporates the Lagrangean relaxation-based upper and lower bounds. Computational experiments are performed on a number of randomly generated problems and the test results indicate that the branch and bound algorithm can give optimal solutions up to moderate-sized problems in a reasonable computation time. A Lagrangean heuristic for a viable alternative for large-sized problems is also suggested and compared with the existing heuristics to show its effectiveness.  相似文献

We consider a problem of scheduling n independent jobs on m unrelated parallel machines with the objective of minimizing total tardiness. Processing times of a job on different machines may be different on unrelated parallel-machine scheduling problems. We develop several dominance properties and lower bounds for the problem, and suggest a branch and bound algorithm using them. Results of computational experiments show that the suggested algorithm gives optimal solutions for problems with up to five machines and 20 jobs in a reasonable amount of CPU time.  相似文献

This paper focuses on the single machine sequencing and common due-date assignment problem for the objective of minimizing the sum of the penalties associated with earliness, tardiness and due-date assignment. Unlike the previous research articles on this class of scheduling problem, we consider sequence-dependent setup times that make the problem much more difficult. To solve the problem, a branch and bound algorithm, which incorporates the method to obtain lower and upper bounds as well as a dominance property to reduce the search space, is suggested that gives the optimal solutions for small-sized instances. Heuristic algorithms are suggested to obtain solutions for large-sized problems within a reasonable computation time. The performances of both the optimal and heuristic algorithms, in computational experiments on randomly generated test instances, are reported.  相似文献

Motivated by just-in-time manufacturing, we consider a single machine scheduling problem with dual criteria, i.e., the minimization of the total weighted earliness subject to minimum number of tardy jobs. We discuss several dominance properties of optimal solutions. We then develop a heuristic algorithm with time complexity O(n3) and a branch and bound algorithm to solve the problem. The computational experiments show that the heuristic algorithm is effective in terms of solution quality in many instances while the branch and bound algorithm is efficient for medium-size problems.  相似文献

It is well-known that exact branch and bound methods can only solve small or moderately sized ????-hard combinatorial optimization problems. In this paper, we address the issue of embedding an approximate branch and bound algorithm into a local search framework. The resulting heuristic has been applied to the problem of finding a minimum makespan in the permutation flow shop problem. Computational experiments carried out on a large set of benchmark problems show that the proposed method consistently yields optimal or near-optimal solutions for instances with up to 200 jobs and 10 machines. In particular, for 19 instances, the heuristic produces solutions that outperform the best known ones.  相似文献

This study addresses the problem of minimizing total tardiness on a single machine with unequal release dates. Dominance properties established in previous literatures and herein are adopted to develop branch and bound and heuristic procedures. Computational experiments were conducted to evaluate the approaches. The results revealed that the branch and bound algorithm is efficient in solving hard problems and easy problems that involve up to 50 and 500 jobs, respectively. The computational effectiveness of the heuristic is also reported.  相似文献

The objective of this paper is to develop a branch and bound algorithm for the problem of minimising maximum lateness in a two-machine flowshop, subject to release dates and time lag constraints. The importance of this NP-hard problem is twofold, it arises as a strong relaxation of the classical permutation flowshop problem, and it generalises several well studied two-machine flowshop problems. Computational experiments performed on a large set of randomly generated problems show that our algorithm can solve to optimality large size instances.  相似文献

This paper considers a scheduling problem with two identical parallel machines. One has unlimited capacity; the other can only run for a fixed time. A given set of jobs must be scheduled on the two machines with the goal of minimizing the sum of their completion times. The paper proposes an optimal branch and bound algorithm which employs three powerful elements, including an algorithm for computing the upper bound, a lower bound algorithm, and a fathoming condition. The branch and bound algorithm was tested on problems of various sizes and parameters. The results show that the algorithm is quite efficient to solve all the test problems. In particular, the total computation time for the hardest problem is less than 0.1 second for a set of 100 problem instances. An important finding of the tests is that the upper bound algorithm can actually find optimal solutions to a quite large number of problems.  相似文献

A branch and bound algorithm for the acyclic subgraph problem (feedback are set problem) is described. The branching scheme lexicographically enumerates all permutations, skipping initial segments known by some easy tests not to have any optimal completion. A lower bound for the number of feedback arcs is given by the size of any collection of disjoint cycles. We propose a heuristic algorithm to find a large collection. The size of the problems our branch and bound algorithm can solve varies from 25 to 34 nodes, depending on the nature of the problem.  相似文献

单核苷酸多态性(SNP)单体型装配问题就是从给定的来自某人染色体的SNP片段中去除错误,重构出尽可能与原来片段一致的单体型.这个问题有几个不同的模型最少片段去除(MFR)问题,最少SNP去除(MSR)问题以及最少错误纠正(MEC)问题.前两个问题的复杂性与算法已有一些学者研究过.第三个问题已被证明是NP完全问题,但这个问题的实际算法还没有.该文对MEC问题给出了一个分支定界算法,这个算法能得到问题的全局最优解.通过这个算法对实际数据的计算说明了MEC模型的合理性,即在一定条件下,通过修正最少的错误重构出的单体型确实是真实的单体型.由于分支定界算法对这样一个NP完全问题不能在可接受的时间内解规模较大的问题,文中又给出了求解MEC问题的两个基于动态聚类的算法,以便对规模较大的问题在可接受的时间内得到近似最优解.数值实际表明这两个算法很快,很有效.这两个算法总能得到与分支定界找到的全局最优解很接近的近似最优解.鉴于MEC问题是NP完全的,这两个算法是有效的、实际的算法.  相似文献

本文研究了带有释放时间的单机双代理调度问题,目标函数为极小化最大完工时间和。为了便于利用优化软件求解,建立了混合整数规划模型。考虑到该问题具有NP困难性,因此采用近似与精确算法分别求解不同规模问题。针对大规模问题,提出了优势代理优先启发式算法,并证明了其渐近最优性。针对小规模问题,设计了分支定界法进行最优求解,其中基于释放时间的分支规则和基于加工中断的下界有效地减少了运算时间。最后,通过数值测试验证了分支定界算法的有效性以及启发式算法的收敛性。  相似文献

Cell formation (CF) is the first and the most important problem in designing cellular manufacturing systems. Due to its non-polynomial nature, various heuristic and metaheuristic algorithms have been proposed to solve CF problem. Despite the popularity of heuristic algorithms, few studies have attempted to develop exact algorithms, such as branch and bound (B&B) algorithms, for this problem. We develop three types of branch and bound algorithms to deal with the cell formation problem. The first algorithm uses a binary branching scheme based on the definitions provided for the decision variables. Unlike the first algorithm, which relies on the mathematical model, the second one is designed based on the structure of the cell formation problem. The last algorithm has a similar structure to the second one, except that it has the ability to eliminate duplicated nodes in branching trees. The proposed branch and bound algorithms and a hybrid genetic algorithm are compared through some numerical examples. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the modified problem-oriented branch and bound algorithm in solving relatively large size cell formation problems.  相似文献

针对非凸区域上的凸函数比式和问题,给出一种求其全局最优解的确定性方法.该方法基于分支定界框架.首先通过引入变量,将原问题等价转化为d.c.规划问题,然后利用次梯度和凸包络构造松弛线性规划问题,从而将关键的估计下界问题转化为一系列线性规划问题,这些线性规划易于求解而且规模不变,更容易编程实现和应用到实际中;分支采用单纯形对分不但保证其穷举性,而且使得线性规划规模更小.理论分析和数值实验表明所提出的算法可行有效.  相似文献

For linear bilevel programming, the branch and bound algorithm is the most successful algorithm to deal with the complementary constraints arising from Kuhn–Tucker conditions. However, one principle challenge is that it could not well handle a linear bilevel programming problem when the constraint functions at the upper-level are of arbitrary linear form. This paper proposes an extended branch and bound algorithm to solve this problem. The results have demonstrated that the extended branch and bound algorithm can solve a wider class of linear bilevel problems can than current capabilities permit.  相似文献

A stratified random sampling plan is one in which the elements of the population are first divided into nonoverlapping groups, and then a simple random sample is selected from each group. In this paper, we focus on determining the optimal sample size of each group. We show that various versions of this problem can be transformed into a particular nonlinear program with a convex objective function, a single linear constraint, and bounded variables. Two branch and bound algorithms are presented for solving the problem. The first algorithm solves the transformed subproblems in the branch and bound tree using a variable pegging procedure. The second algorithm solves the subproblems by performing a search to identify the optimal Lagrange multiplier of the single constraint. We also present linearization and dynamic programming methods that can be used for solving the stratified sampling problem. Computational testing indicates that the pegging branch and bound algorithm is fastest for some classes of problems, and the linearization method is fastest for other classes of problems.  相似文献
