Recently Fisher and Hobart extended the original work of Buekenhout and Hubaut on extended generalized quadrangles with a certain minimal value (minimal ) for the nonempty residue intersections. We show that there is another minimal which is sometimes better than the earlier one, and we extend all this to the case of extended partial geometries. We examine especially the triangular case, and find only a few new possibilities, which we are unable to settle, although some of these look extremely interesting.  相似文献

There are two known lower bounds for (P, Q) in an EpG, called 1 and 2, see for example [3]. In [4], =1 was studied for the case of triangular EGQs and, in [3], =2 was considered for EpGs in general. Here we extend this to the case =1 for EpGs in general, including non-triangular EGQs, and we give a number of characterizations. For instance a triangular EpG with =1 locally is an EGQ, an extended dual net or a semibiplane; if t>2–1, then an EpG(s, t) with =1 locally is an EGQ. Let Rbe a finite dimensional central simple algebra over a field F A be any n× n matrix over R. By using the method of matrix representation, this paper obtains the structure formula of the minimal polynomial qA (λ) of A over F. By using qA (λ), this paper discusses the structure of right (left) eigenvalues set of A, and obtains the necessary and sufficient condition that a matrix over a finite dimensional central division algebra is similar to a diagonal matrix.  相似文献

The algebras A(Γ), where Γ is a directed layered graph, were first constructed by Gelfand et al. [5 Gelfand, I., Serconek, S., Retakh, V., Wilson, R. L. (2005). On a class of algebras associated to directed graphs. Selecta Math. (N.S.) 11(2):281295.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]]. These algebras are generalizations of the algebras Qn, which are related to factorizations of non-commutative polynomials. It was originally conjectured that these algebras were Koszul. In 2008, Cassidy and Shelton found a counterexample to this claim, a non-Koszul A(Γ) corresponding to a graph Γ with 18 edges and 11 vertices. We produce an example of a directed layered graph Γ with 13 edges and 9 vertices, which produces a non-Koszul A(Γ). We also show this is the minimal example with this property.  相似文献

We show that every minimal action of any finitely generated abelian group on the Cantor set is (topologically) orbit equivalent to an AF relation. As a consequence, this extends the classification up to orbit equivalence of minimal dynamical systems on the Cantor set to include AF relations and ? d -actions.  相似文献

We call a subgroup H of a finite group G c-supplemented in G if there exists a subgroup K of G such that G = HK and H ∩ K ≤ core(H). In this paper it is proved that a finite group G is p-nilpotent if G is S4-free and every minimal subgroup of P n GN is c-supplemented in NG(P), and when p = 2 P is quaternion-free, where p is the smallest prime number dividing the order of G, P a Sylow p-subgroup of G. As some applications of this result, some known results are generalized.  相似文献

We prove that for certain classes of modules such that direct sums of -covers ( -envelopes) are -covers ( -envelopes), -covering ( -enveloping) homomorphisms are always right (left) minimal. As a particular case we see that over noetherian rings, essential monomorphisms are left minimal. The same type of results are given when direct products of -covers are -covers. Finally we prove that over commutative noetherian rings, any direct product of flat covers of modules of finite length is a flat cover.  相似文献

In this article the notion of circular operator is extended to the Banach space setting. In particular, this property is considered for elementary operators of lengths one and two acting on minimal norm ideals of ?(?). A topological dynamical system is n-sensitive,if there is a positive constant such that in each non-empty open subset there are n distinct points whose iterates will be apart from the constant at least for a same moment.The properties of n-sensitivity in minimal systems are investigated.It turns out that a minimal system is n-sensitive if and only if the n-th regionally proximal relation Q_n contains a point whose coordinates are pairwise distinct.Moreover,the structure of a minimal system which is n-sensitive but not(n 1)-sensitive(n≥2)is determined.  相似文献

For a countable, weakly minimal theory T, we show that the Schröder-Bernstein property (any two elementarily bi-embeddable models are isomorphic) is equivalent to each of the following:

    For any U-rank-1 type qS(acl eq (?)) and any automorphism f of the monster model C, there is some n < ω such that f n (q) is not almost orthogonal to q ? f(q) ? … ? f n?1(q)

    T has no infinite collection of models which are pairwise elementarily bi-embeddable but pairwise nonisomorphic.

In previous work, the first author established a natural bijection between minimal subshifts and maximal regular J -classes of free profinite semigroups. In this paper, the Schützenberger groups of such J -classes are investigated, in particular in respect to a conjecture proposed by the first author concerning their profinite presentation. The conjecture is established for all non-periodic minimal subshifts associated with substitutions. It entails that it is decidable whether a finite group is a quotient of such a profinite group. As a further application, the Schützenberger group of the J -class corresponding to the Prouhet-Thue-Morse subshift is shown to admit a somewhat simpler presentation, from which it follows that it has rank three, and that it is non-free relatively to any pseudovariety of groups.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to explain and to generalize, in a homotopical way, the result of Barannikov–Kontsevich and Manin, which states that the underlying homology groups of some Batalin–Vilkovisky algebras carry a Frobenius manifold structure. To this extent, we first make the minimal model for the operad encoding BV-algebras explicit. Then, we prove a homotopy transfer theorem for the associated notion of homotopy BV-algebra. The final result provides an extension of the action of the homology of the Deligne–Mumford–Knudsen moduli space of genus 0 curves on the homology of some BV-algebras to an action via higher homotopical operations organized by the cohomology of the open moduli space of genus zero curves. Applications in Poisson geometry and Lie algebra cohomology and to the Mirror Symmetry conjecture are given.  相似文献

The generalized conjugate phase retrieval problem aims to reconstruct a complex signal x ∈ Cn from quadratic measurements x*A1x,...,x*Amx,where A1,...,Am∈Rn×n are real symmetric matrices.The equivalent formulation for generalized conjugate phase retrieval along with the minimal measurement number required for accurate retrieval(up to a global phase factor as well as conjugacy) is derived in this paper.We present a set of nine vectors in R4 and prove that it is conjugate phase retrievable on C4.This result implies the measurement number bound 4n-6 is not optimal for some n,which confirms a conjecture in the article by Evans and Lai(2019).  相似文献

Let π be a minimal Erdös-Szekeres permutation of 1, 2, ..., n 2, and let l n,k be the length of the longest increasing subsequence in the segment (π(1), ..., π(k)). Under uniform measure we establish an exponentially decaying bound of the upper tail probability for l n,k , and as a consequence we obtain a complete convergence, which is an improvement of Romik’s recent result. We give a characterization, in terms of an equality of integral closures, of a class of submodules having minimal Buchsbaum–Rim multiplicity with respect to a family of ideals. This is a notion motivated by an inequality of multiplicities. We apply our study to the computation of a known invariant in singularity theory.
