The effect of an induced magnetic moment due to grain boundary motion in a magnetic field was studied theoretically in a microscopic and a mesoscopic approximation. It was found that the induced moment generates a drag force on the boundary, which depends on the orientation of the magnetic field with regard to the crystal axis, as observed experimentally. However, the magnitude of the theoretically predicted dependency is much smaller than experimentally observed and even opposite with regard to the orientation dependence. Therefore, the electromagnetic drag can be neglected in comparison with other driving forces for grain boundary motion, but the effect may play a role for fast moving dislocations in a magnetic field.  相似文献

This study continues a cycle of works published in Optika i Spektroskopiya (Optics and Spectroscopy) on the magnetomechanical effect in a gas discharge. It is devoted to the hypothesis of the appearance of a torque acting on an object placed in a gas discharge in a magnetic field and arising due to the momentum transfer from the rotating neutral gas. The velocities of gas rotation required for the formation of the observed moment of forces are estimated. Measurements of the velocities performed using laser Doppler anemometry are analyzed. The method of observing dust structures in a magnetic field to reveal gas rotation is justified. Corresponding experiments with the use of the method of optical visualization for the observation of plasma-dust structures are conducted. The experimental dependence ω(r) obtained for a liquidlike structure is not consistent with the hypothesis of the transfer of rotation from the gas. Additional observations of dust plasma upon tilting of the discharge tube in the gravitational field are conducted. It is found that, in this case, the structure shifts from the central region of the stratum to the periphery and the rotation ceases. Neither the analysis nor the experiments performed in this study are consistent with the hypothesis of gas rotation in the magnetomechanical effect. The results of the experiments with dust structures are of independent interest for the physics of dust plasma.  相似文献

The dynamics of the ferromagnetic order parameter in thin magnetic films is strongly affected by the magnetomechanical coupling at certain resonance frequencies. By solving the equation of motion of the coupled mechanical and magnetic degrees of freedom we show that the magnetic field induced magnetization switching can be strongly accelerated by the lattice and illustrate the possibility of magnetization reversal by mechanical actuation.  相似文献

Distribution of a magnetic moment in an exchange-coupled bilayer Fe/SmCo epitaxial structure grown on a (110) MgO substrate is visualized by the magnetooptic indicator film technique. The direction and the magnitude of the effective magnetization in this structure are determined both under external magnetic fields of variable magnitude and direction and after the removal of these fields. It is shown that such a heterostructure is remagnetized by a nonuniform rotation of a magnetic moment both along the thickness of a sample and in its plane. A field antiparallel to the axis of unidirectional anisotropy gives rise to spin springs with opposite chiralities in different regions of the magnetically soft ferromagnetic layer. The contributions of these springs to the net magnetization cancel out, thus decreasing the averaged magnetic moment and the remanent magnetization without their rotation. When the external field deviates from the easy axis, the balance is violated and the sample exhibits a quasi-uniform rotation of the magnetic moment. Asymmetry in the rotation of the magnetic moment is observed under the reversal of the field as well as under repeated remagnetization cycles. It is established that a monochiral spin spring is also formed in a rotating in-plane magnetic field when the magnitude of the field exceeds the critical value. Possible mechanisms of remagnetization in this system are discussed with regard to the original disordered orientation of magnetization of the magnetically soft layer with respect to the easy axis, which is defined by the variance of unidirectional anisotropy axes of this layer on the interface.  相似文献

Using combination of micromagnetic calculations and magnetic force microscopy (MFM) imaging we find optimal parameters for novel magnetic tips suitable for switching magnetization MFM. Switching magnetization MFM is based on two-pass scanning atomic force microscopy with reversed tip magnetization between the scans. Within the technique the sum of the scanned data with reversed tip magnetization depicts local atomic forces, while their difference maps the local magnetic forces. Here we propose the design and calculate the magnetic properties of tips suitable for this scanning probe technique. We find that for best performance the spin-polarized tips must exhibit low magnetic moment, low switching fields, and single-domain state at remanence. The switching field of such tips is calculated and optimum shape of the Permalloy elements for the tips is found. We show excellent correspondence between calculated and experimental results for Py elements.  相似文献

This paper reports on a test using laser Doppler anemometry of the hypothesis that the magnetomechanical effect involves rotation of the plasma of the positive gas-discharge column in an axial magnetic field. This was done by measuring the velocities of the dust macroparticles dropping in a vertical discharge tube. No rotation of the gas was revealed at a sensitivity of 40 cm/s. The rotation of dust particles suspended in striations and in the trap near the narrowed region of the discharge in a magnetic field was observed. The possible connection of this rotation with the magnetomechanical effect is discussed.  相似文献

The existing magnetomechancial models cannot explain the different experimental phenomena when the ferromagnetic specimen is respectively subjected to tension and compression stress in the constant and low intensity magnetic field,especially in the compression case. To promote the development of magnetomechancial theory, the energy conservation equation, effective magnetic field equation, and anhysteretic magnetization equation of the original Jiles-Atherton(J-A)theory are elucidated and modified, an equation of the local equilibrium status is employed and the differential expression of the modified magnetomechancial model based on the modified J-A theory is established finally. The effect of stress and plastic deformation on the magnetic parameters is analyzed. An excellent agreement is achieved between the theoretic predictions by the present modified model and the previous experimental results. Comparing with the calculation results given by the existing models and experimental results, it is seen indeed that the modified magnetomechanical model can describe the different magnetization features during tension-release and compression-release processes much better, and is the only one which can accurately reflect the experimental observation that the magnetic induction intensity reverses to negative value with the increase of the compressive stress and applied field.  相似文献

我们制备了直径为80—700A的γ-Fe2O3微粉,测量了它的比饱和磁化强度σs和比表面积Sa,得出经验公式:σs(s=σs(∞)(1—aSa)。假定微粉由两部分组成:第一部分是表面层,在磁场的作用下,它的磁矩只能转到与磁场成某个角度;第二部分是内部,它的磁矩可以转到磁场的方向。从这个简单的模型出发,上述的经验公式可以得到较好的解释。 关键词:  相似文献

The magnetic property in neodymium gallium garnet (NdGaG) is studied by the quantum theory. The ground configuration split states are calculated taking into account the spin–orbit interaction and crystal field effect. Taking account of the Nd–Nd exchange interaction, a good agreement between experimental and theoretical values can be obtained for the variation of the magnetic moment with the external magnetic field under “extreme” conditions (low temperature and high magnetic field). Moreover, the temperature dependence of magnetic moment and the magnetic susceptibility χ is also discussed. Above 30 K, the magnetization (M) shows a linear field (He) dependence.  相似文献

The magnetomechanical behavior of single-crystal Galfenol alloy was found to be strongly dependent on the loading paths. An energy-based anisotropic domain rotation model, assuming that the interaction between domains can be ignored and the probability of the magnetic moment pointing along a particular direction is related to the free energy along this direction, is used to simulate the magnetostriction versus magnetic field and stress curve and to track the magnetic domain motion trail. The main reason for loading path dependent effect is the rotation/flipping of the magnetic domains under different loading paths. The effect of loading and unloading paths on 90° magnetic domain motion was studied by choosing different loading and unloading state and paths. The results show that prior loading magnetic field can make the 90° magnetic domains flip to the directions of 45° domains because the magnetic field is the driving force to make the domains rotate, and the final loading state and the loading path both have great influence on the motion of 90° magnetic domains.  相似文献

This paper presents a theoretical study of new effects of double-frequency optical signal generation in magnetic media with a nonuniform magnetization distribution. The study is based on the hydrodynamic approximation of the motion of conduction electrons in the field of an electromagnetic wave and equations for the mean electron spin. Within this approach, the mechanisms of the toroidal moment effect, which was experimentally discovered earlier in a system of magnetic particles with a vertical magnetization distribution as well as in a multilayered magnetic system (which is a collinear nonuniform magnetic system), are demonstrated. A new effect that appears due to the presence of equilibrium spin currents in a nonuniform magnetic system is studied in detail. This effect was predicted from the symmetry and can occur only in noncollinearly magnetized media. It is shown that this effect has a resonance nature with a resonance at a pump frequency equal to the plasma frequency of conduction electrons. Estimates of the susceptibility at the double frequency for the parameters of nickel and the typical scale of variation in the magnetization, which is equal to 10 nm, show that the susceptibility near the frequency of the plasma resonance at the chosen parameters is on the order of 10–9 esu, which holds up a hope of the experimental detection of this effect.  相似文献

The drag force on ions moving in a magnetized electron plasma is calculated in dielectric linear response. Various representations of the dielectric function ε(k, ω) are investigated for their suitability to display the limits for an infinite and a vanishing magnetic field. While the influence of the magnetic field is negligible in certain regions of k-space, it introduces in other regions a strong oscillatory structure in the dielectric function. This requires a careful treatment of the multidimensional integrations necessary for the drag force. The contributions from oscillatory integrands are treated by the saddle point method. Explicit results are obtained for the dependence of the drag force on the magnetic field, the direction of motion of the ion relative to the magnetic field, the shielding in the electron plasma, its density and the anisotropy of the electron temperature. The importance of the collective response of the electrons is investigated for limiting cases of the magnetic field. The validity of the linearization of the dielectric theory is checked by comparison with results obtained by numerical simulation of the nonlinear Vlasov-Poisson equation. For strong magnetic fields and low ion velocities, the simulations rather agree with the complementary binary collision model than with linear response.  相似文献

An ordered state with a complex magnetic structure has been observed below 4CK. The magnetization for H ⊥ c (c; the c-axis) shows a field-induced phase transition from a small magnetic moment state ( ~ 0.6μB) at lower fields to a larger moment one ( 2.2 - 2.5μB) above 25kG. The transition field depends on temperature and is found to be 5 - 2kG. The magnetization for H//c has only a sublinear field dependence. Above 40K the magnetic susceptibility obeys the Curie-Weiss law with θ = +1.3K and the molar Curie constant Cm = 6.78, which suggests that Eu ion is divalent in C6Eu.  相似文献

The interaction of a vortex-like domain wall moving in an external magnetic field with a three-dimensional periodic chain of cubic volumes with high values of the saturation magnetization and magnetic anisotropy constant has been investigated theoretically. It has been found that the result of the interaction depends on the initial distance between the wall and the region of inhomogeneity of magnetic parameters at the moment of turning on the external magnetic field. The pinning of domain walls near the regions with high values of the saturation magnetization and magnetic anisotropy constant has been investigated, and the anisotropy of the corresponding depinning fields has been revealed. The method of investigation is the numerical micromagnetic simulation.  相似文献

A theory is developed to describe the effect of an electric field on the magnetization of a thin ferromagnetic semiconductor plate. It is shown that the magnetic moment density is nonuniform under these conditions and that the total magnetic moment and its density depend on the electric field and the temperature. An electric field is found to increase the Curie temperature, and an inflection point is detected in the temperature dependence of the derivative of the total magnetic moment with respect to temperature.  相似文献

In this work, we present the investigation of the formation features and internal structure of dust clouds created in plasma of glow discharge in the external magnetic field corresponding to a range of moderate and strong fields, at which the ion component is magnetized. The analysis of the plasma magnetization in the presence of dust components is carried out. We defined the values of magnetic induction at which the changes in dynamics of plasma particles in magnetic field in light inert gases are expected. The experimental setup was built in two versions. For the purpose of generating of magnetic field, the first setup was equipped with ordinary magnetic coils, and the second one included a superconducting solenoid. The discharge tubes, the main chambers where plasma was ignited and maintained in a glow discharge in lowered pressure, also have certain peculiarities, which we describe below. While using helium as a bulk gas, our study focused only on the dust trap in the region of narrowing discharge current. For neon, we used two traps: the striation trap and one just mentioned above placed in the narrowing of the discharge tube. As a result, the steady dust structures in a glow discharge under the magnetization of ions and electrons were obtained for the first time. Dust structures were rotated and tended to form a dust cluster and shell structure. A number of parameters of magnetization achieved in experiments were calculated.  相似文献
