We calculate the prediction for the anomalous weak-magnetic form factor of the tau lepton at q2 = M2 within the Standard Model. With all particles on-shell, this is an electroweak gauge-invariant quantity. Its value is aτw(MZ2)= − (2.10+0.61 i) × 10−6. We show that the transverse and normal components of the single-tau polarization of tau pairs produced at e+e unpolarized collisions are sensitive to the real and absorptive parts of the anomalous weak-magnetic dipole moment of the tau. The sensitivity one can achieve at LEP in the measurement of this dipole moment is discussed.  相似文献

The electric dipole moment for the monopoles that can be present in N = 2 and N = 4 supersymmetric SU(2) gauge theories, spontaneously broken by imposing a non-zero expectation value of a scalar field at infinity, is determined by considering the response to a weak external electric field. A permanent electric dipole moment (EDM) of a physical system requires time-reversal (T) and parity (P) violation. Experimental programs are currently pushing the limits on EDMs in atoms, nuclei, and the neutron to regimes of fundamental theoretical interest. Here we calculate the magnitude of the P-, T-violating EDM of 3He and the expected sensitivity of such a measurement to the underlying P-, T-violating interactions. Assuming that the coupling constants are of comparable magnitude for π-, ρ-, and ω-exchanges, we find that the pion-exchange contribution dominates. Our results suggest that a measurement of the 3He EDM is complementary to the planned neutron and deuteron experiments, and could provide a powerful constraint for the theoretical models of the pion–nucleon P-, T-violating interaction.  相似文献

The contribution of the proton electric dipole moment was obtained via core polarization effects that were treated in the framework of random phase approximation with effective residual forces. We demonstrate via first-principle calculations based on the density functional theory that the magnetic moment of a helium atom under a given magnetic field has a positive correlation with the electric dipole moment when an external electric field is applied to the system. The Schiff moment of the 199Hg nucleus is calculated using finite range P-and T-violating weak nucleon-nucleon interaction. Both the contributions of the P-and T-odd interaction and of internal nucleon electric dipole moments to the Schiff moment of 199Hg are calculated. The contribution of the proton electric dipole moment is obtained via core-polarization effects treated in the framework of RPA with effective residual interactions. The electric dipole moment of the FO radical (2Π32) has been directly measured by observing its saturated absorption laser magnetic resonance spectrum (v = 1 ← 0) in the presence of a moderate electric field. The resulting dipole moment [μ(v = 0) = 0.0043(4) D, μ(v = 1) = 0.0267(9) D] is extremely small, and shows a large relative change with vibrational state. The sign of the dipole moment is the same for the two vibrational states. Previous failures to detect microwave or gas phase EPR spectra of FO are fully explained by this small dipole moment.  相似文献

The magnitude of an electric dipole moment must be larger or equal to a certain value to support bound states. Such critical dipole moment, pcrit, has been calculated in 2 and 3 dimensions and has been suggested that its calculation in one dimension cannot be possible. Phase-consistent electronic transition dipole moment functions were calculated (as a function of internuclear separation) for the 80 dipole selection rule allowed transitions in the manifold of states of NaK treated previously [W. J. Stevens, D. D. Konowalow, and L. B. Ratcliff, (1984) J. Chem. Phys. 80, 1215–1224]. Agreement was found with experimental determinations of the 21Π-11Σ+ transition. Agreement of the asymptotic values with experimental and previous theoretical determinations of corresponding atomic transition moments suggests that the present computations may be relatively reliable. The positions of a number of satellite bands are predicted from the potential energy difference curves.  相似文献
