Summary High-performance coated-wire ion-selective electrodes based on dodecylmethyl bis(12-crown-4) and bis(benzo-15-crown-5) are used for the simultaneous determination of Na+ and K+ in human urine or serum by means of the Gran's plot method. The results of the potentiometric determination for Na+ and K+ in human urine or serum are in good agreement with the values obtained by flame photometry.

Zusammenfassung Hochleistungsfähige ionen-selektive Elektroden auf der Basis von Dodecylmethyl-bis-(12-kronen-4)- und Bis-(benzo-15-kronen-5)-ether wurden für die simultane Bestimmung von Natrium und Kalium in menschlichem Harn bzw. Serum mit Hilfe von Gran's plot method verwendet. Die Ergebnisse der potentiometrischen Bestimmung stehen mit denen der Flammenphotometrie in guter Übereinstimmung.

Based on structure-selectivity studies on bis-benzo-crown ether derivatives, 2,2-bis[3,4-(15-crown-5)-2-nitrophenylcarbamoxymethyl]tetradecane (BME-44) was designed and synthesized. The performance characteristics of this new, highly lipophilic ionophore of the group of bis-nitrobenzo-15-crown-5 derivatives with urethane linkage when used in liquid membrane electrodes are evaluated with special regard to the requirements of biological and clinical applications. Potentiometric steady-state and flow-through dynamic data are presented to prove the sensor capabilities for clinical and physiological potassium determinations.Dedicated to Professor W. Hexacyanoferrate(II)-sensing electrodes were prepared by mixing Ag2S and Ag4Fe (CN)6. The 6:1 Ag2S/Ag4Fe (CN)6 provided the best potentiometric response and speed of response. The log concentration vs. potential curves were linear with Nernstian slope (14.8 mV/decade) over the range 10?1-10?6 M hexacyanoferrate (II) at pH 7.00 with constant ionic strength. Interferences included iodide, sulfide and bromide. This electrode was used as indicator in potentiometric titrations of hexacyanoferrate (II).  相似文献

Potassium ion-selective microelectrodes with a tip diameter of 10 μm are described. The ionophore used is 2,2′-bis[3,4-(15-crown-5)-2-nitrophenylcarbamoxymethyl] tetradecane in a conventional mixture with sodium tetraphenylborate, an ether and PVC. The electrode provides Nernstian response over the range 10?5?10?1 M potassium activity. Its selectivity is shown to be similar to that of a valinomycin-based microelectrode. After the electrode has aged for 24 h, the 95% response time at the 10?3 M potassium ion level is 2.0 ± 0.5 s. The applicability of the bis(crown ether) electrode for measurements in vivo is proved by monitoring the changes in potassium activity in different areas of the brain of anaesthetized rats after administration of veratrine.  相似文献

A number of solid-state ion-selective electrodes for the potentiometric determination of phosphate have been made and their properties investigated. The most successful of these electrodes, which had a membrane comprising silver sulphide, lead sulphide and lead hydrogen phosphate, had a theoretical Nernstian response to orthophosphate ion at concentrations down to 5 mug/ml total phosphate at pH 8.3. The electrode had a slow response and its standard potential changed with time. Anions such as sulphate, bicarbonate and nitrate did not interfere; chloride had a transient effect, but even at its worst the interference was less serious than with other phosphate electrodes. The electrode was used as an indicator in the potentiometric precipitation titration of phosphate and lanthanum.  相似文献

Caesium-selective PVC membrane electrodes based on bis(crown ether)s containing benzo-18-crown-6 moieties were prepared using two kinds of plasticizers. Selectivity coefficients for various interfering monovalent ions were determined by the mixed solution method, and were found to relfect the complexing property and extractability of the bis-(benzo-18-crown-6)s. The electrochemical selectivity was also compared with that of the corresponding monocyclic analog and valinomycin.  相似文献

The construction and performance characteristics of phenytoin sodium selective electrodes are detailed. Two types of electrodes: plastic membrane I and coated wire II, were constructed based on the incorporation of phenytoin sodium with tungstosilicic acid. The influence of membrane composition, kind of plasticizer, pH of the test solution, soaking time and the electrodes’ foreign ions were investigated. The electrodes showed a Nernstian response with a mean calibration graph slope of 30.9±0.1 and 28.9±0.1 mV decade−1 at 25°C for electrode I and II respectively, over a phenytoin sodium concentration range of 5×10−3−5×10−6 M and 1×10−3−1×10−6 M with a detection limit 1.3×10−6 M and 2.5×10−7 M for electrode I and II, respectively. The electrodes gave average selective precision and were usable within the pH range 6–10. Interference studies from common cations, alkaloids, sugars, amino acids and drug excipients are reported. The results obtained by the proposed electrodes were also applied successfully for the determination of the drug in pharmaceutical preparations and biological fluids.  相似文献

New chlordiazepoxide hydrochloride (Ch-Cl) ion-selective electrodes (conventional type) based on ion associates, chlordiazepoxidium-phosphomolybdate (I) and chlordiazepoxidium-phosphotungstate (II), were prepared. The electrodes exhibited mean slopes of calibration graphs of 59.4 mV and 60.8 mV per decade of (Ch-Cl) concentration at 25 degrees C for electrodes (I) and (II), respectively. Both electrodes could be used within the concentration range 3.16 x 10(-6)-1 x 10(-2) M (Ch-Cl) within the pH range 2.0-4.5. The standard electrode potentials were determined at different temperatures and used to calculate the isothermal coefficients of the electrodes, which were 0.00139 and 0.00093 V degrees C(-1) for electrodes (I) and (II), respectively. The electrodes showed a very good selectivity for Ch-Cl with respect to the number of inorganic cations, amino acids and sugars. The electrodes were applied to the potentiometric determination of the chlordiazepoxide ion and its pharmaceutical preparation under batch and flow injection conditions. Also, chlordiazepoxide was determined by conductimetric titrations. Graphite, copper and silver coated wires were prepared and characterized as sensors for the drug under investigation.  相似文献

Summary The influence of quaternary ammonium chlorides on potassium ion-selective electrodes is described. The observed decrease of sensitivity towards potassium ions, up to quasi-Nernstian towards chloride ions in the extreme case, is explained by ion-partition and ion-exchange processes at the membrane surface. Crown ethers carrying a phenolic group, 2-hydroxyphenoxymethyl-15-crown-5 and -18-crown-6, were synthesized. Introduction of nitro groups in the 3- and 5-positions of the aromatic nucleus or introduction of a 4-nitrophenylazo group in the 5-position gives a series of chromogenic reagents suitable for the extraction spectrophotometry of sodium and potassium. Sodium in human blood serum was successfully determined by using the (2-hydroxy-3,5-dinitrophenyl)oxymethyl-15-crown-5 reagent. The molar absorptivity of the sodium complex is 14 000 l mol-1 cm-1 at 423 nm.  相似文献

Changes in liquid junction potentials in copper(II) solutions were measured when different reference electrodes were used. The slope and intercept of a calibration curve for a copper-selective electrode will depend on the selection of reference electrode. The condition of the electrode surface of an Orion copper-selective electrode was studied microscopically and the influence of redox potential on stability of the electrode against corrosion is discussed. Oxidizing solutions will produce pits at dislocations in the material and there will be a mixed electrode potential. The slope, stability, and speed of response are much lower when the surface contains pits. Diamond-polishing was shown to improve the electrode significantly.  相似文献

Potassium-selective PVC membrane electrodes based on bis- and poly (crown ether)s containing benzo-15-crown-5 moiety as neutral carrier were prepared and selectivity coefficients for various monovalent ions were measured in order to elucidate the effect of complexing property of these crown ether derivatives on the electrode response. In the preference for potassium over sodium of the electrodes, these bis- and poly (crown ether)s were found to exceed the corresponding monocyclic crown ether considerably, which reflects the easy complexation of stable 2:1 complexes of crown ether ring and ion, derived from the cooperative effect of two adjacent crown ether rings.  相似文献

The influence of decyl alcohol on the potentiometric response of three para-alkylbenzenesulfonate (p-RBS) electrodes is analyzed. The results are clearly dependent on the membrane surface polarity due to the presence of the alcohol. The ionophore was the complex trioctylmethylammonium-p-RBS, (TOMA+)-p-RBS-, with R=H, CH3, and C2H5. The nature of the complex plays a fundamental role on the potentiometric behavior of the electrode showing that the more hydrophobic the complex, the better the potentiometric responses. Moreover, the electrodes selectivities for several hydrophilic and hydrophobic interfering anions were determined. The potentiometric results with interfering anions were coherent with the Pearson's hard and soft acid-base character of these anions.  相似文献
