以某饮用水厂沿程工艺出水为研究对象,研究了臭氧化预处理对水体中消毒副产物(DBPs)氯化生成势的影响。结果表明,水厂生物处理单元产生的胞外聚合物(EPS)和溶解性微生物产物(SMP)等生物源有机物是非常有效的DBPs前体物,但其更易于氯化生成三卤甲烷(THMs)而非卤乙酸(HAAs)。水厂水中存在的THMs前体物主要是各类大分子量有机物,并且臭氧工艺对其有较好的氧化去除效果。水厂水中经臭氧氧化产生的小分子量有机物可能是更为有效的一氯乙酸(MCAA)和一溴乙酸(MBAA)前体物。此外,当水体中三氯乙酸(TCAA)前体物浓度较高时,臭氧工艺对TCAA生成势具有很好的去除效果。  相似文献

The US Environmental Protection Agency is developing regulations for various drinking water disinfection by-products (DBPs). This effort involves developing analytical methods for the DBPs formed as a result of different disinfection treatments and collecting occurrence data for these species. Ion chromatography is one method being used to analyze drinking water samples for the following inorganic DBPs: chlorite, chlorate and bromate. These anions, however, are difficult to separate from common interfering anions of chloride, carbonate and nitrate. A method is therefore presented by which tetraborate/boric acid is used to separate these anions. Method detection limits of the order of 10 micrograms/l, using conductivity and UV detection were obtained. Stability studies of chlorite showing the effectiveness of ethylenediamine as a preservative and summary data for an occurrence of nitrite, nitrate and the DBP precursor bromide are presented.  相似文献

Chlorination is the most common method worldwide for the disinfection of drinking water. However, the identification of potentially toxic products from this method has encouraged the development of alternative disinfection technologies. Among them, electrochemical disinfection has emerged as one of the more feasible alternatives to chlorination. This article reviews electrochemical systems that can contribute to drinking water disinfection and underscores the efficiency of recently developed diamond films in chlorine-free electrochemical systems.  相似文献

A fast method was developed for the extraction and analysis of volatile organic compounds, including disinfection by-products (DBPs), with headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) techniques. A GC/time-of-flight (TOF)-MS instrument, which had fast acquisition rates and powerful deconvolution software, was used. Under optimum conditions total runtime was 45s. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including purgeable A and B compounds (listed in US Environmental Protection Agency method 624), were identified in standard water samples. Extraction times were 1min for more volatile compounds and 2min for less volatile compounds. The method was applied to the analysis of water samples treated under different disinfection processes and the results were compared with those from a liquid-liquid extraction method.  相似文献

Four analytical methods have been applied for the determination of volatile chlorination by-products in drinking water, based on the following techniques: liquid-liquid extraction-gas chromatography-electron capture detection (LLE-GC-ECD); liquid-liquid extraction-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (LLE-GC-MS); purge and trap-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (purge and trap-GC-MS); and headspace-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (headspace-GC-MS). The compounds studied were trihalomethanes, haloacetonitriles, haloketones, chloral hydrate and chloropicrin. LLE-GC-ECD method proved to be the most sensitive for determination of all compounds studied, followed by LLE-GC-MS. Purge and trap-GC-MS method gave good results in the case of trihalomethanes, but had high detection limits for the other volatile chlorination by-products. Headspace-GC-MS method had acceptable recoveries for trihalomethanes, but the detection limits were higher.  相似文献

It is the aim of this work to underline the chemical character of disinfection processes and to present the results of treatment experiments for artificially and electrochemically added chemicals focusing on chlorine components and hydrogen peroxide obtained on IrO2/RuO2 anodes. A discontinuous cell with rotating anode placed 4 mm above an IrO2 expanded mesh cathode of same diameter was used for the generation of electrolysis products. The thermostated experiments were carried out at a temperature of 20 °C and in constant current mode. Artificial solutions prepared using sodium salts and deionised water were electrolysed. Samples were analysed using the DPD (N, N-diethyl-p-phenylendiamine) method. Escherichia coli K-12, Bacillus subtilis DSM 2277 and Saccharomyces cerevisiae Kolin were used as test-microorganisms. Morphological changes were studied using transmission electron microscopy. The results show that electrolysed water had a higher lethal efficiency than Ca(OCl)2 of the same measured active chlorine concentration. During the killing period mainly inner cell parts of the microorganisms react chemically with the disinfectants. In sufficiently high concentrations and reaction times, the cell material continues to react. Cell walls or membranes can break-through as electron microscopy pictures show. Electrolysed water had a higher lethal efficiency on microorganisms. This behaviour demonstrates the existence of additional by-products.  相似文献

This paper is a review of ion chromatographic (IC) separations of inorganic oxyhalide disinfection by-products (DBPs) in water and beverages. The review outlines the chemical mechanisms of formation, regulation of maximum allowable levels, chromatographic column selection and speciation. In addition, this review highlights the application of IC coupled to mass spectrometry (MS) for trace and elemental composition analysis of oxyhalides, along with the analytical considerations associated to enable sensitive analysis. Furthermore, a review of literature concerning IC determination of inorganic oxyhalide DBPs in environmental matrices, including water, published since 2005 is presented, with a focus on MS detection, and a discussion on the relative performance of the methods. Finally some prospective areas for future research, including fast, selective, multi-analyte analysis, for this application are highlighted and discussed.  相似文献

The development of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method 317.0 is initiated to provide a sufficiently sensitive and fundamental technique for the compliance monitoring of trace levels of bromate in drinking water. After a comparative evaluation of Method 317.0 and elimination of a chlorite interference, this method is tested by a collaborative study in order to determine the precision and bias of the method and evaluate its potential role as a future compliance-monitoring method for inorganic disinfection by-products (DBPs) and trace bromate. This technique provides a practical method for future compliance monitoring for all of the inorganic oxyhalide DBPs including trace concentrations of bromate.  相似文献

The main degradation by-products of the herbicide chlortoluron formed during water disinfection with HOCl/ClO(-) have been separated and identified by liquid chromatography/electrospray ionisation sequential mass spectrometry (LC/ESI-MS(n)). Chlorination and hydroxylation reactions seem to occur exclusively on the aromatic ring of chlortoluron, leading to by-products which show characteristic fragmentation patterns. Indeed, chlortoluron-like ESI spectra were always observed for chlorinated by-products, showing only a fragment at m/z 72. In contrast, hydroxylated and chloro/hydroxylated by-products gave a much more complex fragmentation pattern that could be elucidated by MS(n) (n = 1-4) experiments. Gemifloxacin mesylate (GFM), chemically (R,S)‐7‐[(4Z)‐3‐(aminomethyl)‐4‐(methoxyimino)‐1‐pyrrolidinyl]‐1‐cyclopropyl‐6‐fluoro‐1,4‐dihydro‐4‐oxo‐1,8‐naphthyridine‐3‐carboxylic acid methanesulfonate, is a synthetic broad‐spectrum antibacterial agent. Although many papers have been published in the literature describing the stability of fluorquinolones, little is known about the degradation products of GFM. Forced degradation studies of GFM were performed using radiation (UV‐A), acid (1 mol L?1 HCl) and alkaline conditions (0.2 mol L?1 NaOH). The main degradation product, formed under alkaline conditions, was isolated using semi‐preparative LC and structurally elucidated by nuclear magnetic resonance (proton – 1H; carbon – 13C; correlate spectroscopy – COSY; heteronuclear single quantum coherence – HSQC; heteronuclear multiple‐bond correlation – HMBC; spectroscopy – infrared, atomic emission and mass spectrometry techniques). The degradation product isolated was characterized as sodium 7‐amino‐1‐pyrrolidinyl‐1‐cyclopropyl‐6‐fluoro‐1,4‐dihydro‐4‐oxo‐1,8‐naphthyridine‐3‐carboxylate, which was formed by loss of the 3‐(aminomethyl)‐4‐(methoxyimino)‐1‐pyrrolidinyl ring and formation of the sodium carboxylate. The structural characterization of the degradation product was very important to understand the degradation mechanism of the GFM under alkaline conditions. In addition, the results highlight the importance of appropriate protection against hydrolysis and UV radiation during the drug‐development process, storage, handling and quality control. Low-molecular-weight heparins (LMWHs) are produced from heparin by various depolymerization strategies, which result in a reduction of the average molecular weight of the polysaccharide chains, a reduction of the anti-factor IIa activity (and a concomitant increase in the anti-factor Xa/anti-factor IIa ratio), and introduction of process-related structural signatures. Numerous techniques have been developed to characterize LMWHs and to measure the type and extent of structural modifications that are introduced as a function of the depolymerization process. We present here an analysis of the tetrasaccharide pool of enoxaparin sodium, a LMWH produced by chemical β-elimination of heparin benzyl ester. We identify the predominant sequences present within the tetrasaccharide pool and demonstrate that this pool provides a sensitive, specific readout of the physicochemical process conditions used to generate enoxaparin sodium.  相似文献

Drinkable water supplied by aqueducts undergoes preliminar potabilization which, in Italy, is mainly accomplished by chlorine addition. The bactericidal action involved in this process is always accompanied by chlorination and oxidation of organic species (mainly humic and fulvic acids) naturally present in treated waters, so that many disinfection by-products (DBPs) are formed, such as trihalomethanes (THMs) and halo-acetic acids (HAA), which can represent a chemical risk for public health. The aim of this study was the monitoring of DBPs in drinking water disinfected by chlorination, supplied by four different aqueducts of Central Friuli (Italy). DBP evaluations were performed in water samples consisting of both input and output of disinfection plants. The results of analytical determinations were worked out to provide the THM and HAA parameters for disinfected waters, while in feeding waters the following different conventional parameters were adopted: (i) trihalomethanes formation potential (THMFP), (ii) halo-acetic acids formation potential (HAAFP) and (iii) UV absorbance at 254 nm (UV254). The quite moderate content of chlorinated products found in all samples considered highlighted the excellent quality of potabilized waters available in Central Friuli. Moreover, our results confirmed that the majority of DBPs formed when chlorine is used for water disinfection consists of THMs, while chlorites and chlorates prevailed when potabilization is accomplished by using chlorine dioxide. Finally, simple UV254 monitoring turned out to be a profitable approach for the determination of chlorinated by-products only when THMs prevail among DBPs.  相似文献

Formation of halogenated by-products of parabens in chlorinated water   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
Chemical transformations of four alkyl esters of p-hydroxybenzoic acid, parabens, in chlorinated water samples are investigated. Quantification of the parent species and identification of their reaction by-products were performed using gas chromatography in combination with mass spectrometry. Experiments were accomplished considering free chlorine and paraben concentrations at the mg L−1 and μg L−1 level, respectively. Concentration of water samples, using solid-phase extraction, and silylation of the target species were carried out in order to improve the detectability of parent species and their possible transformation products, achieving quantification limits at the low ng L−1 level. Under employed experimental conditions, the decrease in the concentrations of parabens followed pseudo-first-order kinetics. Half-lives values obtained for model ultrapure water solutions were in good agreement with those observed in tap water samples. For the first type of sample, only two by-products were detected for each paraben. They corresponded to chlorination of the aromatic ring in one or two carbons situated in ortho-positions to the hydroxyl group. Both species were also generated after the addition of parabens to chlorinated tap water. Moreover, three new transformation products were noticed for each parent compound. They were identified as bromo- and bromochloro-parabens, formed due to the existence of traces of bromide in tap water sources. Experiments carried out by mixing paraben-containing personal care products with tap water, containing free chlorine, confirmed the formation of all above described halogenated by-products. In addition, the presence of the di-chlorinated forms of methyl and propyl paraben has been detected for first time in raw sewage water samples.  相似文献

For the first time, an ion chromatographic method for the simultaneous determination of the disinfection by-products bromate, chlorite, chlorate, and the so-called seven standard anions, fluoride, chloride, nitrite, sulfate, bromide, nitrate and orthophosphate is presented. The separation of the ten anions was carried out using a laboratory-made high-capacity anion-exchanger. The high capacity anion-exchanger allowed the direct injection of large sample volumes without any sample pretreatment, even in the case of hard water samples. For quantification of fluoride, chloride, nitrite, sulfate, bromide, nitrate, orthophosphate and chlorate, a conductivity detection method was applied after chemical suppression. The post-column reaction, based on chlorpromazine, was optimized for the determination of chlorite and bromate. The method detection limit for bromate measured in deionized water is 100 ng/l and for chlorite, it is 700 ng/l. In hard drinking water, the method’s detection limits are 700 ng/l (bromate) and 3.5 μg/l (chlorite). The method’s detection limits for the other eight anions, determined by conductivity detection, are between 100 μg/l (nitrite) and 1.6 mg/l (chlorate).  相似文献
