Investigations in the region of 2,3′-biquinoline. 3. Synthesis of 2′-alkyl(aryl)-1′,2′-dihydro-2,3′-biquinolines and 2′-alkyl(aryl)-2,3′-biquinolines

A method was developed for the synthesis of 2-alkyl(aryl)-1,2-dihydro-2,3-biquinolines, based on the addition of organolithium compounds to 2,3-biquinoline in the presence of tetramethylethylenediamine. Synthesis and structures of 4,5-dimethyl-1,3-bis(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)-1H-imidazolium chloride and 1,1′-bis(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)-2,2′-bis(4,5-dimethylimidazole)

4,5-Dimethyl-1,3-bis(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)-1H-imidazolium chloride (1) was synthesized and characterized by IR and NMR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. An attempt to prepare the free tridentate N-heterocyclic carbene pincer ligand by the reaction of 1 with KN(SiMe₃)₂ resulted in the formation of 1,1′-bis(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)-2,2′-bis(4,5-dimethylimidazole) as a product of dimerization of the target carbene followed by the rearrangement accompanied by the elimination of dipyridylethane.

     

Crystallographic and computational study of the structure of copper(II) 2,2′-bis(2-oxidobenzylideneamino)-4,4′-dimethyl-1,1′-biphenyl

The reaction of M(OAc)₂ with 2,2′-bis(2-hydroxybenzylideneamino)-4,4′-dimethyl-1,1′-biphenyl (H₂L1) allows the synthesis of 2,2′-bis(2-oxidobenzylideneamino)-4,4′-dimethyl-1,1′-biphenyl complexes of Cu(II) (CuL1), Co(II) (CoL1) and Ni(II) (NiL1) that were characterized by elemental analysis, FTIR spectroscopy and for CuL1 also by X-ray crystallography verifying a tetradentate binding mode of L1 via an (ONNO) motif of the two phenolic oxygen atoms and two azomethine nitrogen atoms. Recrystallization from a solvent mixture of dichloromethane and methanol promotes the formation of methanol adducts. Different binding modes of the methanol–complex were investigated using density functional theory calculations and binding energies, and thermodynamic data of the interaction are reported. The results show that the favored interaction occurs when the methanol molecule acts as a Lewis acid weakly binding via an O–H···O hydrogen bridge to a phenoxide moiety leading to an elongation of the respective M–O bond.

Investigations of 2,3′-biquinolyl. 9. Reaction of 1′,4′-dihydro-2,3′-biquinolyl with organolithium compounds

The 1,4-dihydro-2,3-biquinolyl reacts with organolithium compounds to form the mixture of 4-R-1,4-dihydro-2,3-biquinolyls and 2-R-1,2-dihydro-2,3-biquinolyls in the ratio analogous to the conversion in the series of 2,3-biquinolyl. The utilization of the complex, the organolithium compound-TMEDA, in this process leads, after treatment of the reaction mixture with water, exclusively to 2-R-1,2-dihydro-2,3-biquinolyls. Treatment with methyl iodide leads to 1-methyl-2-R-1,2-dihydro-2,3-biquinolyls.     

Synthesis of 3-(3′-Acetyl-5′-aroyl-1′,3′,4′-oxadiazolyl-2′)-chromones

A general method has been proposed for synthesizing 3-(3-acetyl-5-aroyl-1,3,4-oxadiazolyl-2)-chromones that has been based on conversion of 3-formylchromones to acylhydrazones and of theacylhydrazones into the heterocyclic chromones.     

Transition metal(II) complexes of 1-(α-hydroxynaphthyl)-2-(3′-methyl-5′-mercapto-1′,2′,4′-triazole)-2-aza-ethane

Summary Binuclear metal complexes of the type [M(HMTE)-(H₂O)₂]₂, where HMTE=1-(-hydroxynaphthyl)-2-(3-methyl-5-mercapto-1,2,4-triazolc)2-aza-ethane and M-Cu^II, Co^II, Ni^II and Mn^II have been prepared and characterized. An octahedral geometry around the metals is proposed. The complexes have been screened as possible fungicides.     

Molecular and crystal structure of 2,3-dimethyl-5-(2′-methylprop-1′-enyl)-6-(morpholyl-4′-carbonyl)-cyclohex-3-en-1-carboxylic acid

An X-ray structural examination is carried out for 2,3-dimethyl-5-(2′-methylprop-1′-enyl)-6-(morpholyl-4′-carbonyl)-cyclohex-3-en-1-carboxlic acid that is one of the products of the Diels-Alder reaction of an acyclic monoterpene alloocimene with maleic and citraconic anhydrides followed by the ring opening of adducts with morpholine to corresponding amides. The crystals are triclinic; a = 10.619(1) ?, b = 12.784(2) ?, c = 14.328(2) ?; α = 65.752(1)°, β = 87.932(1)°, γ = 78.120(1)°; V = 1733.0(3) ?³, P-1 space group, Z = 4 (two independent molecules). In both molecules, the anti-conformation of the carboxylic group is observed, the conformation being stabilized by an intramolecular hydrogen bond involving the carboxylic hydrogen atom and ketonic oxygen.     

Synthesis of 3,4-Biheterylthieno[2,3-b]-thiophenes. Part I: Synthesis of 3,4-Bi(1′,3′,4′-thiadiazolyl-, s-triazolyl-,1′,3′,4′-thiadiazinyl-, 1′,3′,4′-triazinyl-, thiazolyl-, 1′,3′-thiazinyl- and primidinyl)-thieno[2,3-b]thiophenes

3,4-Diamino-2,5-dicarbethoxythieno[2,3-b]thiophene ( 1 ) was allowed to react with NaNO 2 and active methylenes to afford the corresponding azo compounds 2a-c . Hydrazonyl chloride 2a was treated with carbon disulfide, phenyl isothiocyanate, benzonitrile, benzyl cyanide, malononitrile, benzalaniline, ethyl mercaptoacetate, and ethyl glycinate to give 1,3,4-thiadiazolyl-, s-triazolyl-, 1,3,4-thiadiazinyl-, 1,3,4-triazinylthieno[2,3-b]thiophenes 3-6 respectively. The reaction of 2b,c with urea, thiourea, and guanidine afforded pyrimidinyl- and thiazinylazothieno [2,3-b]thiophenes 7-10 respectively. Bithiazolylthieno[2,3-b]thiophenes 11 and 13 were synthesized by treating compound 1 with CS 2 along with halo compounds. The addition of S,S-, N,S-, and N,O-acetals to the Schiff base 14 afforded compounds 15-17 respectively.     

Synthesis and Biological Activity of Novel 2,3-Dihydro-2-phenylsulfonylhydrazono-3-(2′,3′,4′,6′-tetra-O-acetyl-β-D-glucopyranosyl)thiazoles

A series of novel 2,3-dihydro-2-phenylsulfonylhydrazono-3-(2',3',4',6'-tetra-O-acetyl-β-D-glucopyranosyl) thiazoles were designed and synthesized via the reaction of thiosemicarbazide with chloroaldehyde.Their chemical structures were characterized by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis.The bioassay results indicate that some of these compounds exhibit moderate fungicidal and herbicidal activities.     

Investigations of 2,3′-biquinolines 23. Synthesis of 1′-R-1′,4′-dihydro-2,3′-biquinolin-4′-ones by Claisen condensation

Stereoselective synthesis and absolute configuration of (1′R,3R,4R)-4-acetoxy-3-(2′,2′,2′-trifluoro-1′-hydroxyethyl)azetidin-2-one

The title compound 3, an intermediate in the synthesis of fluorocarbapenems, is obtained with high stereocontrol by the condensation of (R)-(+)-ethyl 4,4,4-trifluoro-3-hydroxybutanoate with N-trimethylsilyl cinnamylidenimine. X-Ray diffraction analysis of the condensation product and chemical correlations allowed the unambiguous determination of the absolute configuration.     

Five-membered 2,3-dioxo heterocycles: LXIII. Cascade recyclization of isopropyl 2-(1-aryl-4,5-dioxo-2-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrol-3-yl)-2-oxoacetates with cyclic enamines. Crystalline and molecular structure of 1′-benzyl-6′,6′-dimethyl-3-[(Z)-phenyl(phenylamino)methylidene]-6′,7′-dihydro-3H-spiro[furan-2,3′-indole]-2′,4,4′,5(1′H,5′H)-tetraone

Isopropyl 2-(1-aryl-4,5-dioxo-2-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrol-3-yl)-2-oxoacetates reacted with N-substituted 3-amino-5,5-dimethylcyclohex-2-en-1-ones to give the corresponding 1′-substituted (Z)-6′,6′-dimethyl-3-[phenyl(arylamino)methylidene]-6′,7′-dihydro-3H-spiro[furan-2,3′-indole]-2′,4,4′,5(1′H,5′H)-tetraones. The structure of 1′-benzyl-6′,6′-dimethyl-3-[(Z)-phenyl(phenylamino)methylidene]-6′,7′-dihydro-3Hspiro[furan-2,3′-indole]-2′,4,4′,5(1′H,5′H)-tetraone was proved by X-ray analysis.     

Synthesis,structure, and physico-chemical properties of 3-methyl and 3,3-dimethyl derivatives of l-(4′,4′-dimethyl-2′,6′-dioxocyclohex-1′-yl)-3,4-dihydroisoquinoline

3,3-Dimethyl- and 3-methyl-1-(4,4-dimethyl-2,6-dioxocyclohex-1-yl)-3,4-dihydroisoquinolines have been synthesized. Crystal and molecular structures of the 3,3-dimethyl derivative have been determined. In the crystalline state this compound exists as a tautomeric form where a hydrogen atom is located at the N atom of the dihydroisoquinoline fragment of the molecule. The tautomeric equilibrium does not shift noticeably in solutions, as shown by IR, UV, and NMR spectroscopy.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. Synthesis of Steroidal Spiro-1′,2′,4′-triazolidine-3′-thiones

Steroidal ketone thiosemicarbazones (4–6), obtained from the corresponding ketones(1–3), on oxidative cyclization with H₂O₂ at 0°C provide title compounds (7–9), respectively. The structures of these compounds have been established on the basis of their elemental analytical and spectral data.     

X-ray diffraction study of 1,5-bis-(4′,4′,4′-trifluoro-1′-methyl-3′-oxo-but-1′-enylamino)-3-oxapentane

Specific features of the molecular and crystal structures of 1,5-bis-(4′,4′,4′-trifluoro-1′-methyl-3′-oxo-but-1′-enylamino)-3-oxapentane are determined by single crystal XRD.     

Tin,palladium and platinum derivatives of 1,1′-bis(diphenylphosphine)ferrocene. Crystal and molecular structures of 1,1′- bis-(diphenylphosphine)ferrocenedichloropalladium(II) and of 1,1′-bis(diphenylphosphine)ferrocenedichloroplatinum(II)

Summary Ten derivatives of 1,1-bis(diphenylphosphine)ferrocene (BDPF) are described in this paper. The first three, [BDPF·SnCl₄] (1), [BDPF·MeSnCl₃] (2) and [BDPF·PhSnCl₃] (3), present the two phosphorus atoms of the ligand directly bonded to a Sn centre. Two others, [BDPF-PdCl₂ (4) and [BDPF·PtCl₂] (5), similarly have the ligand BDPF acting as a bidentate species towards a transition metal. The crystal and molecular structures of (4) and (5) are presented here. Two other BDPF complexes were obtained with Pd and Pt, with the transition metals in the zerovalent state, namely [Pd(BDPF)₂] (6) and [Pt(BDPF)₂] (7). Finally, three trimetallic complexes are also described; [BDPF·Pd(-Cl)₂SnCl₂] (8), [BDPF· Pt(-Cl)₂SnCl₂] (9) and [BDPF·PdClSnCl₃] (10).     

Pd(BF4)2 complexes of 1,1′-bis(alkyl- or aryl-)thio]- and 1,1′-bis(diphenylphosphino)-ferrocenes. Bond formation between the Fe and Pd atoms

1,1′-Bis[(alkyl- or phenyl-)thio]- and 1,1′-bis(diphenylphosphino)-ferrocenes react with (CH₃CN)₄Pd(BF₄)₂ in the presence of triphenylphosphine to give 1/1 complexes in good yields. Spectral data have confirmed the presence of an FePd dative bond in these complexes.     

Investigations of 2,3′-biquinolyl. 7. Thiolation of 1-alkyl-3-(2-quinolyl)quinolinium halides

Thiolation of 1-alkyl-3-(2-quinolyl)quinolinium halides by a mixture of sulfur with KOH in DMF leads to formation of 1-alkyl-1,4-dihydro-2,3-biquinolyl-4-thiones, rearrangement of which in boiling ethylene glycol makes it possible to obtain 4-alkylthio-2,3-biquinolyls.
