Several authors have shown that if G is a connected graph of even order then its square G2 has a 1-factor. We show that the square of any connected graph of order 2n has at least n 1-factors and describe all the extremal graphs.  相似文献

For a 2-factor F of a connected graph G, we consider GF, which is the graph obtained from G by removing all the edges of F. If GF is connected, F is said to be a non-separating 2-factor. In this paper we study a sufficient condition for a 2r-regular connected graph G to have such a 2-factor. As a result, we show that a 2r-regular connected graph G has a non-separating 2-factor whenever the number of vertices of G does not exceed 2r2+r.  相似文献

A graph is locally connected if for each vertex ν of degree ≧2, the subgraph induced by the vertices adjacent to ν is connected. In this paper we establish a sharp threshold function for local connectivity. Specifically, if the probability of an edge of a labeled graph of order n is p = ((3/2 +?n) log n/n)1/2 where ?n = (log log n + log(3/8) + 2x)/(2 log n), then the limiting probability that a random graph is locally connected is exp(-exp(-x)).  相似文献

If G is a connected graph with vertex set V, then the eccentric connectivity index of G, ξC(G), is defined as where is the degree of a vertex v and is its eccentricity. We obtain an exact lower bound on ξC(G) in terms of order, and show that this bound is sharp. An asymptotically sharp upper bound is also derived. This paper shows that for every pair of integers m > n > 1 there is a graph of point connectivity n whose line graph has point connectivity m. Let k≥1 be an integer and G=(V1,V2;E) a bipartite graph with |V1|=|V2|=n such that n≥2k+2. In this paper it has been proved that if for each pair of nonadjacent vertices xV1 and yV2, , then for any k independent edges e1,…,ek of G, G has a 2-factor with k+1 cycles C1,…,Ck+1 such that eiE(Ci) and |V(Ci)|=4 for each i∈{1,…,k}. A result of Korte and Lovász states that the basis graph of every 2- connected greedoid is connected. We prove that the basis graph of every 3-connected branching greedoid is (δ -- 1)-connected, where δ is the minimum in-degree (disregarding the root) of the underlying rooted directed (multi) graph. We show that G has an [a, b]-factor if δ(G) ≥ a, n ≥ 2a + b + and max {dG(u), dG(v) ≥ for any two nonadjacent vertices u and v in G. This result is best possible, and it is an extension of T. Iida and T. Nishimura's results (T. Iida and T. Nishimura, An Ore-type condition for the existence of k-factors in graphs, Graphs and Combinat. 7 (1991), 353–361; T. Nishimura, A degree condition for the existence of k-factors, J. Graph Theory 16 (1992), 141–151). about the existence of a k-factor. As an immediate consequence, it shows that a conjecture of M.
