We study groups G that satisfy the following conditions: (i) G is a finite solvable group with nonprimary metacyclic second subgroup and (ii) all Sylow subgroups of the group G are elementary Abelian subgroups. We describe the structure of groups of this type with complementable nonmetacyclic subgroups.  相似文献

We call a central Z-extension of a group G weakly universal for an Abelian group A if the correspondence assigning to a homomorphism ZA the corresponding A-extension yields a bijection of extension classes. The main problem discussed in this paper is the existence of central Lie group extensions of a connected Lie group G which is weakly universal for all Abelian Lie groups whose identity components are quotients of vector spaces by discrete subgroups. We call these Abelian groups regular. In the first part of the paper we deal with the corresponding question in the context of topological, Fréchet, and Banach–Lie algebras, and in the second part we turn to the groups. Here we start with a discussion of the weak universality for discrete Abelian groups and then turn to regular Lie groups A. The main results are a Recognition and a Characterization Theorem for weakly universal central extensions.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to the study of Abelian afi-groups. A subgroup A of an Abelian group G is called its absolute ideal if A is an ideal of any ring on G. We will call an Abelian group an afi-group if all of its absolute ideals are fully invariant subgroups. In this paper, we will describe afi-groups in the class of fully transitive torsion groups (in particular, separable torsion groups) and divisible torsion groups.  相似文献

Let G be an arbitrary Abelian group. A subgroup A of G is said to be quasi-purifiable in G if there exists a pure subgroup H of G containing A such that A is almost-dense in H and H/A is torsion. Such a subgroup H is called a “quasi-pure hull” of A in G. We prove that if G is an Abelian group whose maximal torsion subgroup is torsion-complete, then all subgroups A are quasi-purifiable in G and all maximal quasi-pure hulls of A are isomorphic. Every subgroup A of a torsion-complete p-primary group G is contained in a minimal direct summand of G that is a minimal pure torsion-complete subgroup containing A. An Abelian group G is said to be an “ADE decomposable group” if there exist an ADE subgroup K of G and a subgroup T′ of T(G) such that G = KT′. An Abelian group whose maximal torsion subgroup is torsion-complete is ADE decomposable. Hence direct products of cyclic groups are ADE decomposable groups.  相似文献

Let k be a (commutative) field and G a group, then a conjugacy class of Abelian subgroups of G is called a class of k-transvection subgroups in G if and only if it generates G and any two elements of the class either commute or are full unipotent subgroups of the group they generate and which is isomorphic to (P)SL2(k).In this paper we study the geometry of k-transvection groups. Given a class of k-transvection groups Σ, we consider a partial linear space whose points are the elements of Σ, and whose lines correspond to the groups generated by two noncommuting elements from Σ. We derive several properties of this partial linear space. These properties are used to give a characterization of the geometries of k-transvection groups and provide a classification of groups generated by k-transvection subgroups.  相似文献

An Abelian group A is called correct if for any Abelian group B isomorphisms AB′ and BA′, where A′ and B′ are subgroups of the groups A and B, respectively, imply the isomorphism AB. We say that a group A is determined by its subgroups (its proper subgroups) if for any group B the existence of a bijection between the sets of all subgroups (all proper subgroups) of groups A and B such that corresponding subgroups are isomorphic implies AB. In this paper, connections between the correctness of Abelian groups and their determinability by their subgroups (their proper subgroups) are established. Certain criteria of determinability of direct sums of cyclic groups by their subgroups and their proper subgroups, as well as a criterion of correctness of such groups, are obtained. __________ Translated from Fundamentalnaya i Prikladnaya Matematika, Vol. 9, No. 3, pp. 21–36, 2003.  相似文献

In this article we construct free groups and subgroups of finite index in the unit group of the integral group ring of a finite non-Abelian group G for which every nonlinear irreducible complex representation is of degree 2 and with commutator subgroup G′ a central elementary Abelian 2-group.  相似文献

We study the class Wof Hausdorff topological groups Gfor which the following two cardinal invariants coincide

ES(G)=min{|H|:HGdense and essential}

TD(G)=min{|H|:HGtotally dense}

We prove that W contains the following classes:locally compact abelian groups, compact connected groups, countably compact totally discon¬nected abelian groups, topologically simple groups, locally compact Abelian groups when endowed with their Bohr topology, totally minimal abelian groups and free Abelian topological groups. For all these classes we are also able to giv ean explicit computation of the common value of ESand TD.  相似文献

We prove that the group T(G) of endo-trivial modules for a noncyclic finite p-group G is detected on restriction to the family of subgroups which are either elementary Abelian of rank 2 or (almost) extraspecial. This result is closely related to the problem of finding the torsion subgroup of T(G). We give the complete structure of T(G) when G is dihedral, semi-dihedral, or quaternion.  相似文献

A finite group G is called an MSP-group if all maximal subgroups of the Sylow subgroups of G are S-quasinormal in G: We give a complete classification of groups that are not MSP-groups but all their proper subgroups are MSP-groups.  相似文献

This paper studies groups G whose all subgroups are either ascendant or self-normalizing. We characterize the structure of such G in case they are locally finite. If G is a hyperabelian group and has the property, we show that every subgroup of G is in fact ascendant provided G is locally nilpotent or non-periodic. We also restrict our study replacing ascendant subgroups by permutable subgroups, which of course are ascendant [Stonehewer S.E., Permutable subgroups of infinite groups, Math. Z., 1972, 125(1), 1–16].  相似文献

A topological Abelian group G is Pontryagin reflexive, or P-reflexive for short, if the natural homomorphism of G to its bidual group is a topological isomorphism. We look at the question, set by Kaplan in 1948, of characterizing the topological Abelian groups that are P-reflexive. Thus, we find some conditions on an arbitrary group G that are equivalent to the P-reflexivity of G and give an example that corrects a wrong statement appearing in previously existent characterizations of P-reflexive groups. An Abelian group is said to be R-Hopfian [L-co-Hopfian] if every surjective [injective] endomorphism has a right [left] inverse. An Abelian group G is said to be hereditarily R-Hopfian [hereditarily L-co-Hopfian] if each subgroup of G is R-Hopfian [L-co-Hopfian]; similarly G is super R-Hopfian [super L-co-Hopfian] if each homomorphic image of G is R-Hopfian [L-co-Hopfian]. The various classes of hereditarily and super R-Hopfian and L-co-Hopfian groups are studied and necessary conditions for groups to have these properties are derived; in several, but not all, cases, su?cient conditions are also obtained.  相似文献

Baer and Wielandt in 1934 and 1958, respectively, considered that the intersection of the normalizers of all subgroups of G and the intersection of the normalizers of all subnormal subgroups of G. In this article, for a finite group G, we define the subgroup S(G) to be intersection of the normalizers of all non-cyclic subgroups of G. Groups whose noncyclic subgroups are normal are studied in this article, as well as groups in which all noncyclic subgroups are normalized by all minimal subgroups. In particular, we extend the results of Passman, Bozikov, and Janko to non-nilpotent finite groups.  相似文献

For several classes of groups G, we characterize when the near-ring M0(G) of 0-preserving selfmaps on G contains a unique maximal ring. Definitive results are obtained for finite Abelian, finite nilpotent, and finite permutation groups. As an application, we determine those finite groups G such that all rings in M0(G) are commutative.  相似文献
